My gastric sleeve story! Surgery on 12/5/17
Dianmi replied to Dianmi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Small mini update. I told you I was eating the 2 oz meal. That settle better in my belly I had a little bit of pain and there is ALWAYS Gad when I eat or drink anything even water but I didn’t feel uncomfortably full like my belly was going to explode. I feel satisfied but can’t really say I feel full I no longer know what full or hungry feel like I guess I feel filled but not full like before. It used to be a feeling in all of your stomach area is not anymore (understandingly) it centers in the middle and a little towards the left but not much. Two things I had not updated and I am sorry if is tmi. I got my period two day ago, let me mention I had not gotten it in about 3 months and also that I had an iud implantes Friday before surgery so idk if it has more to do with that than my vsg. Also I have not been able to go number two since day before surgery let’s see how that goes when the time comes. -
Liquid diet begins....
Renkoss replied to apmcleish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for answering Ashlie M. It just sometimes helps to know you are not going through the "TMI" parts of this process alone. I did google and there were many posts from people in years past who had bariatric and had the same experience on the pre-op diet. I was concerned mostly because I have to do a bowel prep Monday afternoon-evening for a colonoscopy on Tuesday. I did call the Gatrointestinal clinic and they said to do as much of the prep as needed to get output as clear as possible. So, okay. I'll just have to drink a ton of Water. I'm not a huge water person, so I'll do the best I can. We have the same surgery date, so yes, I am on Day 6 as well. The hunger is beginning to diminish, and I as well am continuing to do the broth, popsicles, Protein shakes. I just know that 20 min afterwards I'm going to be in the bathroom! -
ok this is gross but I am going to go there....as a med tech that has looked at specimens under the microscope I can verify that celery does NOT digest. The fibers come out in your stool. Because I know this and have seen it myself I am staying WAY away from putting that into my much smaller pouch. If I eat it at all I make sure it is cut very fine and not in long strands! Sorry if TMI!

Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.
Oregondaisy replied to Elisabethsew's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I ate some cream of potato soup and spit out the potatoes.Whatever they made the cream of part out of, I had a really bad reaction. It must be the lactose intolerance people have been talking about. I have been full of gas, and sorry if it's TMI, I have been in the bathroom for hours. I finally remembered to take an anti diarrhea pill. HOnestly, I don't ever remember being this sick. -
They're still here, just deflated haha! I went from a 46DD to a 38DD.....not necessarily because they are still large but they need that much room for all the extra skin. Sorry if its TMI.

Hi - I am 17 days post op, sleeved on May 9th. I know the topic is TMI but I need to ask. And I will contact surgeon tomorrow. So here goes,... Tonight, I noticed my urine was dark orange (more dark orange/brown towards bottom of bowl). In fact, I saw some of the darker parts falling to the bottom as I stood to check. I am concerned. For the day I drank at least 50oz of Water, just shy of my 64oz goal. For Protein I've been doing pretty well, but I know I could do better. What's also on my mind, is that I didn't have much of an urge to pee either after all I drank (and some of that was decaf tea). I did not have any colored foods (like beets or jell-o). I did have about 2 Tbsp of marinara. It had been 24hrs since my last Vitamin (and I opted to not take my Vitamins tonight so I could continue to monitor the color). I have NO fever or other symptoms (except for one of my incisions that hurts only when I bend - like the scab is coming off and tearing a bit). Doesn't seem related. Everything else seems ok. Thoughts? I will share what doctor/surgeon says after I speak to them tomorrow. Thanks!

Are/were you on a post op antibiotic? Did they use a cathader (sp) at any time when you were in the hospital? They are sometimes used during the operation but it isn't very common. I would ask the dr if you can take chewable Vitamin C. If it is the start of a UTI taking high doses of vitamin c can help. (It raises the acidity level of the urine which makes it a bad environment for the bacteria to grow.) Keep us updated!

August Bypass Buddies!
Lindy005 replied to Pink Ninja's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 3 of my pre-surgery diet. Sry if this is tmi, but I have diarrhea now. Doc office told me to add banana and oatmeal to the shake. Anyone else having problems? -
I am hoping that the band really works for me (with me) because i will not have RNY or Sleeve or any of that. if i can't lose weight this way, then that is just a sign that i'm supposed to be fat! i am going to try to do my part to eat healthy but i am really hoping that the band helps with my apatite issues. i could just eat all the time. I am already finding that whilst i am on the the 2 week liquid diet that i am not really hungry. i figured i would be miserable. so far, my only misery has been...ummmm tmi, but going to the bathroom. anyway, your surgery is just a few days after mine, so good luck to you and i'm glad there is more than just one of us who have a lot to lose. it can get kind of discouraging for me to read all the posts from people whose starting weight is my goal weight.

How are fellow March 19/20 sleevers doing?
Linda 66 replied to WeightStruggle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is the first post from me prior to surgery. I was sleeved 3/19 and stayed 3 nights in hospital. Blood pressure was high heart rate was low. All day on day 2 I had nausea and puking up black ( old blood) which was normal smh. I was afraid to leave the hospital lol I thought they could take care of me God forbid anything. I'm a chicken lol. Since I'm home I force myself 2 drink perhaps 16 oz a day but starting tomorrow I will get on track. I have nooooooo desire to eat but that always is the case with me after surgery. I had a cpl ice pops, isopure protein, some oatmeal and that's all. I have no interest in getting on scale till I get staples out this week. As far as BM! I had one Thursday and since then if I have to pee I have a little Very very little diarrhea tmi but sharing. I had my drain out and honestly for me it was fine...just odd. Anyone sleeping on their side yet? I hate to sleep on my back I prefer side or belly. My worst pain has been my neck and shoulders I don't know if that is gas or because I kept falling asleep sitting up. And my head would hang lol. I hope we all continue feeling better and do awesome! -

How long before a BM? 9 days post op
theladyslipper replied to RellaBelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Colace was a life saver for me in the beginning. (Not peri-colace) You can find it at any drug store. Life changer. I will say that those first few weeks before I tried colace, I used miralax & benefiber--I literally still thank God for each BM I have. TMI, but when you are struggling in that department, there is a gratitude that I don't know when I'll stop having. I'm 12 weeks. Colace! -

November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!
ready2B replied to Dabliss111114's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@@Dabliss111114 - I am so sorry to hear about your father-in-law. Recovering from surgery is stressful enough without all you have gone through lately. Hugs to you and your family. I've been doing better the past couple of days - finally! It was a rough 4 days there, but thankfully that was short. TMI alert: I finally blench a BIG air bubble up as I was throwing up and I think that was the cause of my 4 day puking spree. My nausea went away after that. Since then I've been forcing small burps throughout the day to keep that from happening again. So far, so good. I got out today and did a lot of walking in Target. :-) I really do need to get out more. I had more energy since I can keep food down better. I was also dragging emotionally - it was frustrating nor being able to eat, not feeling like doing things, missing some of my favorite foods and probably having a minor pity party. Not full-blown really because I am extremely grateful that everything has gone so well, so more like a pout! -

November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!
bluedreams86 replied to Dabliss111114's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Here's my update.... I'm 6 days post op (surgery was Monday Nov 17). I am doing really great. I was released the next day after surgery. I am meeting my protein/water goals, can tolerate multivitamins, taste buds have NOT changed (though I was hoping they would) and I can tolerate sweet things-- like my Unjury chocolate splendor shake, but I've never really had a sweet tooth and much prefer the chicken flavor protein. I have plenty of energy and have been running errands and walking around. I even did a tour at the Pentagon with my mom. My main issue has been the constant gas/burp pain. I really wish I can burp or fart on command, sorry if its too much TMI. Also, my left incision hurts, but what hurts the MOST is two bruises that I have on my lower abdomen (no incisions there just bruises). If I move too quickly, it feels like someone is pulling or tugging and stabbing me at the same time. Though Tylenol seems to work on them. I had people tell me that the first week is really depressing and you will feel like "what the heck have I done to my body?!!" However, I have not experienced ANY of that. Though the sucky part right now is the liquid diet stage AND the drain. I can't wait to have this thing removed tomorrow. Also, I really wish I could have something solid, a piece of egg or canned salmon. Maybe some yogurt. I envy those people that had no desire for food or water after surgery. As far as weight..... I was 216.6 day of surgery, 222 when I got home from the hospital (IV liquids, swollen). And as of today, I was 210. So far I am so happy that I went through with the surgery and there are no regrets. -
I have been on a liquid diet for ten days now.where are the solids in my stool coming from? There isn't a lot, but it does happen...

Food getting stuck... for hours!
DeletedMember replied to jccanada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 months post op and have this issue all the time. For me there is just this fairly sharp pain right underneath my rib cage (my pouch). Once it starts there is no going back. And it's unpredictable. What is good one day is bad the next. And it can happen with just a few bites of food (happened the other day from like 4 tiny bites of fresh mozzarella). Doc says I have a minor structure most likely, but wants to just give it some time as he thinks it will most likely work itself out. If not, I'll have a dilation. For me though, vomiting is easy. When I have this issue I just literally bend over at about a 90 degree angle and up it comes, no retching, just kinda easy (sorry about the TMI). At least it makes me feel instantly better. Then I just try again another day. -
It hurts. But it hurts worse if you go in there without preparing! I have long pubes (sorry if TMI) and if you can trim to about 1/4", it's slightly better. My last Brazilian was a year and a half ago. I'm still getting ingrowns. I seem to have a problem with that, and they are NASTY. It was fun while it was bare, though. Oh, and for your "big girls" question? I wasn't *all that* big when I went, but I was horrified when my esthetician gave me what looked like a washcloth to cover up! I had to ask for a "real" towel just for my insecurity... sara
