Fat Shaming Husband...so hurt
sassyfrass23 replied to Bluesky1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't think I made myself clear. I'm suggesting two thoughts to the OP: 1. You're clearly fragile and he didn't say the things you needed to hear. I'm suggesting that what he actually said/meant might have been different than what you heard. No one knows this but you (certainly not a bunch of strangers on this forum). I've been married 37 years and my wife hears me say things all the time that I don't think I said and certainly didn't intend to convey. 2. Clearly, you don't like what you're hearing him say. Have you told him loud and clear that? Have you told him what you need from him to help you get through this? Women her nuances that guys can't. Guys are thick in this area and need to be set straight. Obviously, if you're certain that he spoke those words and meant to be hurtful and you told him as much and he doesn't give a ****, you need to move on. I'm just saying be sure first... How is he otherwise? Thank you for wanting to be objective. I have told him every way I can...STOP IT! In his mind he thinks he's helping me. He also said he is frustrated that I am not the weight I was just 3 years ago when I met him, and I eat (candy, Cookies, bread) while I've been preparing for this surgery. Unlike many others I had to gain 7 lbs to have surgery. And guess what? I have been enjoying EVERY second of it. I have been on some diet, some plan, over-excercizing and battling not eating "bad food". It has been great to eat what I want. Some people may say that means I'm not ready for this surgery....I think it means I am totally ready for this surgery...because I need it. I have gone up and down all my life. My husband thinks I "cheated the system by gaining the weight...and he feels I should have been eating all healthy these last 9 months. The problem with that is I had to stay at a certain weight to be approved. No gaining..no losing...and I did everything I had to...to be approved. I do understand his frustration. I don't look like I did. I'm also 42, been going through peri-menapaus, and have chronic pain and health issues. And now have been thrown into surgical menopause. Sorry this may TMI...but..I'm trying to paint you a picture. My husband other than being mean and critical about my weight...is funny, hardworking, responsible, handsome, committed to his ministry, a great friend, a good Dad (to my step-daugter), and can be loving towards me. He simply doesn't want a fat wife. He strongly apposes surgery, and told me today...that I will just gain the weight back, and stretch my stomach back out. I hope that doesn't happen. I'm having the surgery. That is not negotiable. So...there you have it. Sure- anyone can gain the weight back. We all know this going into surgery. But- your mind is made up and I believe you will be successful. No matter who's doubting you. You've got me in your corner, rooting you on!! So...you can show him better than you can tell him. And no one knows who is truly ready for this surgery. Only you know. And that's all that matters. I will keep you in my prayers and pray that God will soften your husband's heart while helping you remain steadfast in your journey. As a wife. And as a WLS patient. You've got this -
Thanks for the feedback! I haven't noticed the BO, but my urine has a very different smell too (sorry TMI, but related). I hadn't connected that until you mentioned the BO, but it started with pre-op diet also. Hmmm, very interesting. FamilyGirl, What are Keto-sticks and how do you get them? Can you tell me more about them. please?

Banders in San Antonio TX & Surrounding Cities
BigRueb22 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello Fellow Band-Members! My name is Rueben from San Antonio TX. I'm a new bander going on 2 Days Strong! My surgery date was 12/30/10, what a Xmas and new years present to myself. I'm still in alot of pain and have hella gasses coming out of both openings, I know TMI but it's the truth. I've been drinking protein shakes, sipping on alot of water, doing my breathing excerises and walking around for atleast five minutes! My pain meds don't seem to work or help bur I know within time I'll be a brandnew Man! I'm looking foward for 2011 and the future! Happy New Year! God Bless & Good Luck! My current weight is 6'6 499, my new years goal is 6'6-375. It's going to be a long tough journey, but it's all or nothing! I've come this far, why not step it up and keep going!!! -
Well, ended up in urgent care last night followed by the er... Without getting into tmi, it was NOT gas :-/. Anyway, had full work up (CT, X-rays, ultrasound) and all is well with the band. Thanks to the great staff at DRH (you guys rock, and addressed my crippling pain first!). Went to Walgreens and got chewable flintstones with iron rather than the sizable costco style I had been taking (flintstones are more complete as well). Thanks to my LBT CREW for all your comments! Gonna work on my fluid intake as well, heard you all loud and clear!

Liquid diet--feeling faint?
scoots replied to scoots's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys! It has definitely gotten easier every day and surgery is in 2 days ????! This is way too tmi but did anyone have issues with the liquid diet when it came to using the restroom? I'm embarrassed to say that I've had to toss a few pairs of pajama bottoms this week due to a cough that was more than just a cough. -
Mornin' Warriors! Rowed my butt off (literally) last night - couldn't stand up properly afterward :w00t: Getting better distance and feeling stronger every day. I don't know why I didn't figure this out sooner - my body LOVES exercise! I seem to get stronger every day, the second-day soreness is manageable and dare I say, even pleasureable (because I know I worked hard), and today I had to walk extra stairs at the train station because the track my train comes in on got changed, and I bounded up the stairs like a teenager! Wonderful NSV (TMI alert) - my 'back fat' is going away! Yep, it's not a pretty sight (yet) but it's definately less ugly than before I was banded...and I can't wait until I'm in shape to wear a low-cut or backless dress! The sun is shining, it's colder than you-know-what outside, but it's still a great morning!

I have a few questions, bear with me... :(
NYC_gal replied to NYC_gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your reply.... it seems to get a reply on here, I have to post TMI TMI TMI and talk about my bathroom issues.... Anyways, I'm just a bit concerned because my previous doc more or less starved me....to the point where I couldn't handle a sip of water. I would try to eat the foods I was told I should be able to eat and I would get sick everytime. I feel like now I have some kind of anxiety before and while I eat because I'm so afraid its going to result in me throwing up. :frown: I've been sticking to soup/broth and as of this morning I was having A LOT of trouble getting juice down. I just don't want to end of being the problem, like every doctor I see can't be wrong.... -
Ok then I'm 99% sure it's the backing up!!! Just had a scary one! As I hadn't had that before! Sorry if it's TMI but does it feel like you need to be sick and are about to be but aren't?! Was awful!!! But I guess you learn as you go being a newbie to this stuff is hard!! Haha. Thankyou

Kelly, thank you so much for updating us on your Mom. I am glad it is over, and behind her, now for the healing. Let her know, our prayers will continue, and we hope her pain eases. Thanks again. Mandy, my heart is so sad for you right now. We want our childrens lives to be easy, and right now that isn't the case for Abi. I will for sure say extra prayers for all of you. I wish there was something more I could do. Does she like receiving mail? Can I send her a card or a little something every now and then? If ever you need a caring ear on the other end of the phone line, to vent to, to cry with----you can call me ANYTIME---I will PM the #. I know you have a supportive family, but I always felt like I was adding to the pain they were already feeling, knowing I was hurting too----we are all here, and sharing your concerns, and fears, and hopes for help for Abi. I hope you can feel the big hug I am sending you telepathically!!! Deb--I had the crud it sounds like your family has. I had my DD call me in a prescription (with the Dr.s ok!) for some phenergren for the nausea, and it helped, knocked me out---but then it hit the other way, and for 2 days I couldn't get far from the bathroom. I know TMI---but be prepared!!! Today I feel human again! I actually yesterday---saw my scale read 200. BUT this morning it was up to 201, and I am sure tomorrow will be 202. I seriously thought about refusing to eat or drink for another day just to let it drop!!! Then the stupidity of the idea sunk in!!! Betty--it has been so nice here! We had a rain storm the other day, but it passed, and the sun has returned. I dearly hope the rain you are getting is hitting our place in TX as well. It is so dry there, our tanks are almost dry. If it doesn't change, we will likely sell even more of the herd, if not all of it. That is happening to so many, the beef prices are bare bottom....which doesn't help the idea. Beannie--glad you are home, and still employeed. That is scary! I think you are wise looking ahead at a change. Then if they pull it out, you have not lost anything. Extra knowledge will never hurt! Your vacation sounds like it was just what you needed. Quality time with DH & your family. I want a pool.......and a hot pool boy....cuz I really don't want to have to take care of one!!!! Sherry---how's the cold? Darcy---you off walking on the new treadmill and ignoring us???? Cindy---time to check in!!! Do not make me do roll call!!! Well, I am going to make the coffeepot, and likely head off to bed. I will remember all of you in my prayers tonight....promise! Kat

What did you ABSOLUTELY need post-op?
onyah replied to mmesmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
- A recliner-like place to sleep. Laying flat was too painful. - The hospital sent me home with a refillable ice-pack, which really helped with the port-site pain. - This is totally TMI, but stool softener. My doctor warned me that I might need it, and I SO did. -
I was just curious how folks progress with their incisions. The instructions I received were keep them covered until the shower at 3 days out, then leave them uncovered. The exception was the drain site and to gauze it if it was weeping, but it's dry so keeping it uncovered. Only my t-shirts and nighties are over them. Shower daily with soap, Water and pat dry. Was told Absolutely no ointments, peroxide, alcohol, nothing. POSSIBLE TMI: So out of 4 incisions and the drain site only one big guy looks a bit angry. Sort of a big scab stretching open just a bit, but cannot see inside. That's the one that was used for the scope and such, and maybe the one they pull the evicted tummy from? Not sure on that last part and will ask next week. Next week the staples come out. So how are your sites progressing? What kind of stitches did you have? I know we're all different, but got curious as I again wanted to scratch near that ugly one. Surgery was 2/11. Thanks

May 28-31st Sleeve Week!
Krystal0528 replied to lylabelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved on 5/28, an I still haven't had a BM. I tried to go yesterday, but couldn't due to constipation. Yes I no TMI, but I just wanna go to the restroom! Lol.. I also have been getting pains through stomach that move up to chest, that I believe are gas pains. Please tell me someone else has been having same problems. On another note, I have been getting my multivitamin in, an it does have iron in it. I will start tonight on my calcium an d3 chewable. I also have been doing protein shake to get in my 60 gm in but I can only get in 1 shake so only 30 gm of protein in:( I feel like im doing something wrong, plz help -
Hi! And can I just say, HOLY MOLY! Some of us (you, OTBT) are doing very, very well!!! :wink2: Congratulations on all the weight loss! After my 2nd fill, I had a rough couple of weeks -- I was taking bites that were too large sometimes, having a PB, and not giving my body sufficient time to recover from it. My doc wants me to follow his post-fill diet (2 days liquids, 2 days mushies) after a PB, and I kinda forgot that. So, I had one very bad experience really throwing up (sorry, TMI), and that's what brought me back to the doc's office to figure out what was going wrong. Bottom line: I'm being way more careful now with my bites. Other than that, all is good. I really need another fill, but with all that nonsense above, plus having to travel on business all next week and be around people 24/7, we decided to skip the fill and just wait till I get back. I'm hoping my weight loss will roll along after that fill... So, bandmates, has anyone reached that magical sweet spot?

I have a TMI question for any ladies that have already been sleeved. I am scheduled for this Tuesday morning but I started aunt flo today, please tell me that won't postpone my surgery!!
-
You also have to remember that you aren't eating as much so there isn't as much to push things through (in my surgeon's words) and so it is not unnormal at all to go several days without a BM. Plus at the liquid stage, liquids in, liquids out. This may be TMI; however, I am almost 3 months out and I do not have a BM every day - sometimes it is every 3 days. I am do not have the constipated feeling and so, after speaking with my surgeon, I don't worry about it. As long as I am getting in enough fluids, eventually there will be enough whatever to make a BM.

Anybody know when your body adjusts to taking Saxenda? I took it about 5 months ago and didn't have any problems. I started taking it again about 4 days ago and it causing me bad cramping and loose stools (TMI)

jencvt123 replied to Janifer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi dyan:) yes I'm eating laughing cow wedges as well! Not ready for cottage cheese or eggs just yet. ..This may be TMI but I haven't pooped in 10 days:( I did a bowel prep with miralax before surgery and I've only been on full liquids so my surgeon wasn't too concerned but he said I could try miralax one dose if things get critical. .lol..have u been going through this? ? I've been sipping on prune juice all day and so far nothing! -
Hey All - Day 4 Post Op update - I got out into the sun today for about an hour and also walked a local museum. Eating a Bariatric Pal creamy soup for my main meal. I've been mostly hydrating with water and Power Ade. My tastes did change and I'm not a fan of my popsicles anymore and even my favorite PowerAde Flavor I'm not a fan of anymore. Otherwise, I did gain about 7 lbs from the fluids from surgery. I'm back down to my day of surgery weight. Also was worried that I was constipated but nope. (that's not TMI - apparently everyone wonder's when they will poop). Ha! 4 Days post-op but it did happen. Was kinda obsessing about food even though I wasn't hungry - I have very bizarre siblings who were texting pictures of our favorite family curries and what they were eating. We aren't very close - so not sure why they are choosing to do this now. Mean? Clueless? Dunno...but WOW. It did hurt my feelings. Just Why!?!? Anywho so that's why I decided to have a creamy soup to 'fill' me up. Otherwise, doing well. Not heavily fatigued at all. Will take a nap tho' in a bit just to heal. I've been wearing the compression belt non-stop. Have tomorrow and Tues off and then back to work on Wed. HUGS to all of you who have surgery tomorrow and who are doing the liquid diet! Wishing you all well!!!!

I am just 3 weeks out and I started taking them two days ago. It takes me about 10 minutes to nibble on them and they work. (TMI) I haven't been this regular in months.
