    Weigh In Went well

Today is my Monday weight in and I was nervous. I have been eating 700-900 calories per day and my dietician says 300-400. I was so scared to get on the scale! I was shocked when it said I have lost 4 lbs this past week! Very happy, but confused. Don't know if I'm overestimating on my calories or if my body just wants that many. Anyway, I guess I'll keep doing what I'm doing and hope for another good Monday next week. NSV -- I do know my pants fit better. I wore a pair of capris today that I haven't been able to keep buttoned because they were too tight around the waist. I wore them all day today and could still breath at the end of the day. Nice feeling! Getting tired of my mushie routine and ready to go to solids. My plan says 8/13 but my dietician appt isn't until 8/20 and they can't get me in any earlier. I'm bummed about that. I just want to chew something crunchy. Just a cracker or something. Anyway, things are going pretty well and I haven't had any regrets yet.

First day back to work and an NSV!!!!

Today was my first day back after having surgery on 7/22/09. I am a wage continued employee which means that I continue to receive my full salary whether or not I'm there, so I took ten days to recoup. Since that's what my doctor told me would be a good amount of time considering the type of work that I do. I'm glad I listened I'm BEAT!! I had every intention of going to the gym today after work, but there is just no way. I'll go for my two mile walk after it cools down a bit. Work was good now time for the NSV!! Hot Greg NOTICED I had lost weight and told me that I was looking good!!! Yea!!!!! Me!!! :cursing::thumbup::cursing::thumbup::cursing::thumbup::cursing: and I was able to completely slip my size 16 work pants down over my hips without undoing the buttons or zipper...time to go SHOPPING!!! I have a feeling it's going to be my new addiction...shopping! That's all the energy I have for the moment. I'm going to take a much needed nap!
  3. Great NSV!! I've been doing a little shopping here and there. I was SHOCKED two weeks ago when I tried on an XL and it was too big. I had been in XXL for years. The XL almost draped off me. I went to a Lg. I haven't worn a plain Large since...junior high?! It feels GREAT!

Week 6 Update- In Love With Life!

My how time flies. I think this is week 6 for me! I'm dealing with a few hiccups but overall I'm doing very well. I've been stalled for about 2 weeks now. It has a lot to do with my gallbladder issues and I'm going to see the surgeon about it tomorrow. Now here is the kicker. I gained like half an inch on my arms and chest while stuck at 237 but I had to remind myself that it will pass. PLUS I've been working out like crazy and lifting weights so OF COURSE I'm gaining inches of muscle! I just wonder will it sabatoge this golden window everytone speaks of the first 6 months being for weight loss. Back to the gallbladder. I don't want to go into the appointment like "I told you so" but I did ask him to take it out with my sleeve and he told me it was not neccesary because most patients don't have issues. I should have insisted on it, but you live and you learn. It really does lower my respect of his opinion. I swear sometimes I feel like I know more about this surgery than him or my NUT..... On a good note, my confidence is through the roof. It's such an eye opening to feel good about myself and realize just how much I turned down chances to hang out or try different things when I was 40 pounds heavier. I've been running, playing basketball, going to bootcamp classes on campus, and tonight I'm going to a Zumba class. I can get through an hour or dancing without realizing how much time has gone by. I'm making plans this summer to go rafting and hiking with friends. My energy level is through the roof! I'm no longer living, I'm finally Alive! Since the scale isn't moving, I'm motivating myself by trying to claim as many NSVs as possible. 1. All of my labs are...normal? What is that word? Normal. I don't remember the last time I had normal labs.<--- Wow! 2. I painted my toes. I was even able to rest my knee as I painted! <----That is EPIC! 3. I can cross my legs. I do it without even realizing it now. <---I've NEVER been able to cross my legs comfortably. 4. i went to a international festival and bought a bracelet. It fits!. <----- I couldn't buy normal jewelry for the past 5 years without some kind of extender. Thank you for reading. I hope each one of you has a wonderful rest of the week!

  6. I am so excited today....I am half way to my goal today!!!!! I can't believe it. I feel so wonderful....life is so exciting now. I also had some great NSV's this past week too...double yeah!!! I wore a sleeveless top. I fit in those attached chairs/desk at the high school. I purchased two tops without trying them on in a size which I thought I was not in yet, but they fit PERFECTLY. I LOVE MY BAND:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: To everyone embarking on this journey.....good luck, speedy recovery and get ready for a wonderful new beginning

    Isn't it Ironic

I also have gone back to makeup, nails done, and hair cut stylishly. I wear dresses at work because I look nice in them again instead of looking short and fat with tree trunk legs. It's not about vanity. It's about taking care of ourselves. I don't do this for anyone but me. Yes..I know I'm being looked at and I know that I'm getting attention both male and female but that's just the perks. I feel good about me and that's what counts. Keep on getting those nails done GF and remember that this is a huge NSV.

    Discouraged

....rarely mentioned in such circumstances, is the results of 'mostly empty colon' due to longish liquid intake, then the addition of several days or a week of even mushies. Our colon contents, depending on lots of variables, can easily account for several pounds seeming weight gain. Measure inches and changing body conformation. NSV will help focus on your real results. Congratulations and cheers on your journey.

  14. I have always wanted to run on a beach and this morning I was able to do that. It has been 1.5 years since my surgery and I am training in Sarasota Florida for a new job. I got up early this morning to go for a run. It was beautiful to watch the sunrise and achieve a goal! I love my new life!! The pictures are my view this morning.

NSVs can pop up for the oddest things...

That's a good NSV...I had a funny one last night at dinner....I dropped a piece of chicken and it landed between my legs on my chair....yes, ON MY CHAIR....in the past (70 lbs ago to be precise) there was no chair to see under me-- the chicken would have just fallen on my lap. LOL...I was so excited I called my hubby over to see the chicken on the chair....LOL....stupid I know but funny and it felt good!
  16. I've had back pain for quite some time now, mostly due to the hip and knee problems. Even with the new hips, the back still gives me problems unfortunately. So I saw my doctor earlier today and he feels that I could use another epidural for pain management. I've been hesitant to get more shots because I have concerns about the steroids and the possible risks to other parts of my body. When I mentioned this to the doctor, he said that he'd give me a lower dosage. Then I questioned him about making sure it was even worth getting an injection if he lowered the dosage and he laughed and said that I would do fine with a smaller dose because I'm a smaller person. He looked me right in the eye and said that half the dose would be all I needed at this point. My first thought was well...this is an unusual NSV.....

    Another N.S.V.!

Congratulations Alexandria! That is awesome. Losing weight is a wonderful thing but being able to really tell it yourself is a real morale booster. Keep up the good work. You deserve all the NSVs possible! Sheila
  20. Ok - so I HAVE to share this, and I will try to make it brief. I have a friend who is much younger than myself, and has fallen into a terrible relationship with a very controlling much older woman (older than myself by 5 years). So younger friend is staying at my house to get her head together and think stuff over, and older ex friend thought I would be at work, so she was going to show up and quite literally take her at my doorstep (younger friend is smoker and not allowed to smoke in yard, take it to the curb, tyvm). But I had to go home today to undo the hoses on my old washing machine (ugh a whole other story). I was parked away from my driveway for access to take away said old washer...and I hear raised voices and all this - it is coming from my driveway!!!! I run out and ex is trying to pull friend away - then she sees me. She hasnt seen me since before the surgery. I hear her go - "What the h***!" Just before she literally tried to run away - she didn't get far...let's leave it at that...
  21. For the first time in 15 years... I weigh less than my husband does. Sleeved 11/22, hw 297 cw 222. Little more than halfway to goal! So happy I did this!!!

    Couple of successes

I think the hardest part when I was on the way up was when I quit wearing skirts and tried to make pantsuits look good (which they can but they weren't me). Now as you said the first time I crossed my legs..oh did I look up and say Oh thank you God!! and now it is skorts galore!! These are called NSV (non scale victories) so keep them coming!!!
  23. I went to the dr today, and while waiting in the exam room I was sitting in the chair, and I kept feeling something in the chair pad, It was such a strange feeling, I got up twice to too look at the pad, irritated nothing there..hmph. Then I sat back down and it hit me....hellooo but/hip bones...Haven't felt you for so long, I forgot you were in there
  24. I am currently looking for a job (took an early retirement settlement at the end of December). It is certainly nicer to be looking at a size 10P, rather than a 24W. I had a job interview last Friday. I wore a beautifully tailored navy suit with a tiny shadow stripe of a paler blue. Under the jacket, I wore a blue cashmere sweater that picked up the color of the stripe. I had taken the suit skirt to the tailor and had it shortened (since I am 5'4" - this is a regular thing) to be the perfect just-below-the-knee length. If I was still morbidly obese, like a year ago, I would have either worn pants or left the skirt long - almost to my ankles. I had to buy a new pair of panty hose - in size B - the only ones I had in my lingerie drawer were size Q - and they made my legs look like elphant's legs with all the wrinkles. Cross your fingers or say a little prayer that I hear good news from the company I interviewed with!

    Notorious November NSV!

After I finished dying of embarassment, I realized that I did have a NSV today. I was walking through a parking lot and it was raining so the bottoms of my jeans were getting wet and heavy. Well, that coupled with the fact that they're a size too large now, yeah.. I flashed the good people of costco a little pasty white ass today. :crying: I think it's time to move to a smaller jean size.. :smile2:
