its good to hear from you all and know that I am not alone in this journey... I understand what you are all saying... and yes working the sleeve... and keeping a food diary is important, and exercise no matter if the weather is turning cold and the days short... I bought a treadmill for $50... lol it works fine so I am going to give that a whirl when the days are too cold and too short... I was at 184.9 ... what a tease this morning... I weigh only once a week... I am going to try to up my protein and cool it on those foods that go down so easy... usually carbs... I too struggle with the denser meats.... I have lots and lots of NSV... I think if I reach a size 10 I will def. have broken my sabotaging ways... lol never been below a 14 in my life.... so I am treading new ground...

NSV's: Cute Clothes and A Cute Boyfriend
PrettyThick1 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Miss Pearlie has done an outstanding job in such a short amount of time. I've just had the most romantic weekend and I'm going on pure adrenaline and butterflies today since I only slept for 2 hours last night. Anyway...I can wear the prettiest clothes and it's fun coming up with new combinations to wear them, so for the first time in a very long time I treated myself to a shopping spree on Saturday morning. I came back with clothes that I think I love more than any I've ever had and I can't wait to wear them - something I haven't felt since planning for the first day of school during senior high. And - a guy that I've known for 4 years is looking like he's going to shape up to be a great companion for me. He lives in a neighboring state, but has family (who really like me and have urged him to move back just for me for at least 3 of those years) that he visits often in Houston; he recently accepted a new job and can visit every other weekend now. Call it a hunch, but I can see him moving back to Houston within the next year - I can't see things getting anything but better from here. He is a country gentleman, he's romantic, he loves animals, he's great with kids, has high morals and ethics and he's a good person...a benefit of knowing him for so long before getting to this point. He was attracted and attractive to me before I lost weight, so the doubt about "would he want me if I was the same weight as before" isn't something I have to be concerned about. Another bonus. It's funny...he looks a lot like an actor I had a crush on and his personality matches a character that the actor played in one of my favorite movies (Allen Payne, Jason's Lyric). What's more is that I love the way people look at us, we catch strangers staring and smiling at us and that is so different because before the weight loss, I didn't think we "matched" like he was too attractive to be with me - I know, I know, self esteem, yada yada yada...but now, I don't feel that way and in his own way he "shows me off" when we go out. I never thought I'd be arm candy. LOL Ok...all of this might have been TMI, but I haven't been in love with anyone in more than 14 years - this is an amazing development and I want to share it with the world. -

Awww...thank you. I am actually wearing 42's in this pic and they are baggy. I only have one other pair of jeans a size 40 and they were in the laundry. I am waiting a while before I buy more. These are barely two months old. Funny thing about the belt. That is my original belt that barely fit to be buckled when I started. It is such a great NSV seeing how it wraps around me. -
So many of us got this surgery because we were parents who wanted to do right by our kids. As you lose the weight, is it changing things for your kids? What do they think about it? At our house: -no more junk food anywhere in the house -my son has to eat Protein first (he would have lived on just bread if you let him) -we went to the state fair where I was able to walk all over and was less tired than him -my kids are our biggest supporters and they're seeing us succeed. That makes me happy. Cute NSV. I've been slopping around in 2xl pjs. Loose, unsexy, old. My husband gently reminded me that I could now buy sexy lingerie if I wanted? (If I wanted, not he. Sneaky!) I bought some L sizes pjs. I feel they cling to me too much. I asked my 13-year old if they were too tight. Here's his answer: "Wow! (Waves hands in hourglass shape) They look just fine to me!" Hahahahaha!

pre work out meal suggestions ???first time puking during a work out :(
readysetg070113 posted a topic in Fitness & Exercise
Yes I know puking is bad.. I started this new high intensity training class at the gym. I got severe abdominal cramps and then i threw up slightly and some other issues as I am a lady Ill spare the details. The trainer does not know i am banded and I usually don't eat before working out cause my system doesn't like early morning meals. usually my vitamins and coffee pre workout and then protein post workout. Im not worried I hurt my band as it was minimal and I don't vomit often. I handled my bathroomish business a missed one loop of the training and then continued to do class . He said I must eat a little something prior to this class as my body needs fuel. One trainer suggested peanut butter on a piece of toast I Was wondering what other's eat. My initial thoughts is a protein shake as i do best with liquids as soon as I wake up. My NSV is I'm not giving up on this class. Its supposed to be an 8 week transformation program. I measured my self today to track changes. I plan by week 8 making it through with no issues what so ever:) Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. -

NSV... I go to pick my mother up today at her friends house and I am walking down the court and my mom didn't recognize it was me lol. Granted her friend hasn't seen me since in months but my mother is my neighbor and sees me almost daily!!! LOL. SHe actually told her friend I don't think thats her she's to skinny ROFL... ( and the comment was not in a negative way my mom is my biggest cheerleader no matter what) it made me chuckle -
I did absolutely nothing in terms of exercise yesterday and probably won't today. My body hurt yesterday (not just achy) in new and interesting ways so me thinks it needs a couple solid rest days. Has anyone ever got a burning pain sensation in their bicep before? Felt like a tetanus shot. Today, after a good night of sleep, I am feeling better and only a little sore in abs, upper back, arms and legs. I hope to be back at it tomorrow. Another NSV after Fridays workout of serious core work (see above), I can see my abs this morning in the mirror. That is a first. Not a six pack, but more like a 2 pack. there is hope!!

Not only is that an awesome NSV... (to wear something that you could never "feel comfortable" wearing before due to your weight) BUT your husband has great taste in clothing. Looking good GG! -
In order to get to my lowest weight my band was to tight and while I did lose those 20 lbs I was very fortunate that I did not do permanent damage to my esophagus. I had to have a complete unfill and have a Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and found that my esophagus had dialated, the band fortunately was still in task but it would take several months to heal. During that time I regained quite a bit of weight. I also did not want to get a fill but got a small fill and still continued to eat more slider foods than I should of. I had not been on mediation for diabetes for 5 years and at the rate I was gaining it would not be long before the need for medication would begin Finally after going up two sizes from my lowest weight and getting Christmas gifts from my kids that I had to do everything that I could to keep it close led to my decision to recommit. Part of the commitment includes being active on this site. Having gone back to eating after 9:00 in the evening I had to make sure that I went to bed before 9:00 PM. I started using a smaller plate and spreading my cup of food around the plate so it would seem like I had more to eat. Putting my fork down between bites is a key for me and chewing and chewing and chewing. Taking the time to savor the food instead of worrying about the amount of food on the plate. Eating at the table and not in front of the TV has helped. Getting all my fluids in is very important. Since I was going to bed earlier that meant I get up earlier and started walking again. In March I was on a trip to Reno and I had acute pancreatic due from gallstones blocking the pancreatic so they had to go through the liver to reduce the swelling in the gallbladder and then remove the gallbladder. The whole experience reminded me of my mortality and the need to take care of my health. I also concentrate more on NSV’s than what the scale says. I am by no means the perfect bandster never have been but do want to be around to enjoy the grand children.

SweetSusie1 replied to SerendipityHappens's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had an NSV today, I started at 474+ lbs, I'm down 220 lbs, a friend threw me off balance today, she is a good 20 lbs heavier then I am now days... I've always been able to stand my ground... I wear an XL tshirt and not only do I not have to stretch them before putting them on, but the are lose!! I'm excited to see the number 254 even though it is the starting weight oh so many of my support group members! I actually have to turn down hand me downs because they would be too big for me.
