Hey girl@! I see you're doing good! That's fabulous! I'm in my 6th month of preop hoping to be banded early next year. I'm having a tuff time taking off my required weight before teh surgery. Need to take off 12 lbs, only lost 6. I'm hungry! I know what to eat but can't eat little enought to lose the weight! Tell you I am not brave enough to put my fat ass pictures up there now LOL. After I lose some weight I'll post the brochures. For now you'll see my face only.
But thanks alot for asking!! You just keep on, keepin on! You'll see me soon!

Where are you having your surgery done? I went with the Weight Loss Institute at DePaul. I think I'll be happy with them. I'm looking forward to getting banded and moving forward with my life!

I am really really good. Dr. Baker did my surgery at Baptist Dec. 16th. Dr. Wellborn is doing one of my dearest friends this Friday, I'll be sure to let you know how it goes! The weight loss has slowed but is about a pound a week, I can still eat more than I should but not as much as I did and am anxious for my next fill (2 week)...but I feel great. I'm only about 30 minutes from Little Rock so the travel isn't such a big deal for me. I would encourage you to take a pillow to the hospital with you to hug on for the drive home, it wasn't terrible, but those bumps hurt and the pillow helps! I know you must be going crazy waiting to hear something!!! Good luck, let me know how things are going!

yeah i was 14 down & now i'm only down 12. i gained 2 back from being sick
my first fill is february 19th which i'm really excited for cause i think it'll help me lose more weight! i'm trying to be down like 20-25 by the time of my appointment, just kinda a small goal for myself! what are you able to eat? i can eat like anything lol. i heard from alot of people that you won't really feel restriction until you start getting fills so that'll be like another transition for me since i can eat whatev. i hope all is well!

Thanks so much for your encouragement to know things will get better. I have had this problem for a very long time and just knowing something will be done about it gives me alot of comfort. I have given up any type of spicy food(s) all together due to my hernia. It would be a treat to eat something and not to fear the after affect. I really can't wait until am approved (banded) for a lot of different reasons.
Again, thanks. How long have you been banded and your total weight lost?

Thats great! Im glad your feeling full. I am getting another fill in 3 weeks. I hope I can make it and actually manage to drop some weight in between time! Anyway..peanuts are the devil! Be careful not to eat too much peanut butter, high in fat, carbs, calories. Although it is a "healthy" food, Its not to good for the "lap band" way of life...

Thanks for the response...so was Dr Mario Almanza your surgeon? How easy/difficult is it to lose the weight (I've heard horror stories about people gaining weight cuz they kept eating poorly)? Have you hear anything bad about this location/doctor? How close are you to your goal.
A little about me: I'm about 80 pounds overweight, I'm 38 years old and want to get the surgery, but since the procedure is out of pocket, I want to be sure that it'll be worth it...also, considered Mexico since it's cheap and I use to run across the border for doctor's visits when I was taking college classes back in the day. My main concern at this time is all the stories I'm starting to hear about people gaining the weight back...I don't have a ton of weight to lose but I'd be crushed if this procedure didn't work out.

Too funny, I remember being 120 and feeling "fat"...I should have been kicked in the head! But as they say hind sight is always 20/20.
I am thankful to be on this journey, I really beat myself up with guilt and self hate. I had to get my head right before I could get my body right... only makes sense now.
I am ready to start phase two of my personal training which is to start training for a Triathlon, I want to be focused not so much on actual weight and numbers but fitness as a whole. I actually signed up today and have the first informal meeting on Saturday...I'm excited and nervous but I can do fear! LOL
Thank you for the compliment, its been 20 years since I felt "pretty"... those words do mean a lot.

Thanks alot dude. I saw your progress as well wow man I cant wait to be shedding this weight off like you.

Your menu sounds just like mine
i found some ground chicken in the grocery store...i tried that in my spaghetti....pretty good
i've even had chicken alfrado! That's not so bad in the blender..haha! Yeah...i'm sticking to about a half cup....i'm starting to eye-ball it now. I'm getting full when i eat...i think it's all the protein? I'm finding that i'm craving stuff now...you doing that? I have a big craving for mexican now
so the closest thing i can come up with is blended pintos w/ cheese and a tbsp of salsa haha. Close enough to satisfy me for now. I dont think i have anything in my band...they didnt tell me either way. But if i take a bite too much i feel it! And i feel like i had just ate my thanksgiving dinner (when i've only had a little mush). I did get on the scales today and i lost that pound i gained...so i'm hoping im on the down hill slope now. I wanna be under 300 by feb. 1st.

Hey BK, how are you doing? Its a struggle every day, I think! I am back on the wagon I guess after really lying to myself and overeating for about three months! At least I didnt gain during that time but I think I'm on the right track now. Did you follow band_groupie to her new site? Her blog is better than ever!Let me know how its going!!

Hey lady
i have a q? For ya....i was banded on january 16th...starting weight 330....well, the first few days i lost down to 316...then i gain a pound. Now i'm scared to get on the scales
did you go through this? I came home eating blended foods the day after surgery...and i'm getting 60-70g protein a day. Any advice?
-
OMG I thought I was the only one but its even worse since mushies I've gained 2-3lbs back
I'm like you I just want to wake up and at least 10lbs more gone. I can't wait to get a fill I believe Im scheduled for 1st fill 2nd week in Feb (so long away). I'm going to get a b12 shot in hopes that will speed some of this weight loss off faster. I've slowly been trying to incorporte my eliptical machine.
-
YAY!! Mushies
hahah! I'm stuck at 14 pounds too!!! I'm getting angry cause I dont eat any more than a child! My dr. wants me to push 60-70g protein each day....that is a task. I dont feel like all that protein is allowing me to lose the weight...but i'm gonna keep on it cause thats' what the dr. ordered
I'm hoping I will wake up and hop on the scales and be down another 10lbs
It was falling off like magic the first few days...are you having this problem??
-
lol sweatpants are def my best friend right now. plus, i don't see the point in buying new jeans that won't fit me in a month or so.
& my surgeon allows us to workout a month after surgery. of course you can walk any time you want, but lifting weights has gotta wait until that month. your surgeon might have a different requirement, so i would call the lapband center at your hospital and ask them.

That's awesome! Congrats on your success. I'm down 56 lbs now. I feel wonderful. We have a lot in common. I had a breast reduction too. Only mine was 6 years ago. They had come back a little with the weight gain but are back to the size they were post-reduction - Thank Goodess! My goal is to loose 25 more lbs and I'm hoping I can do that by my one year anniversary. Wish me luck and much success as you continue your journey! Take Care!
