baby did a bad bad thing ...

someone didnt work out today ... someone ate a ton today ... :scared: someone had dessert with dinner (not a bite, a whole piece) EEEEEEEEEEKKKK ... yup ... someone=me.. i was just way too tired to get up early to go work out this morning. i planned on leaving work early and going after work ... not so much ... i was asked to prepare a report that is going directly to our CEO's office (i work for a mAAjor airline...) double eeeek!!! so i was at work until about 630 finishing it up. so much for working out. sigh ... so i have a kick boxing class tomorrow morning. it is with the best teacher and should be fun. i may work out after that as well. we'll see what my weight is ... if it is above 339 7/8 i will spend a lot of time there this weekend. i did have a sorta NSV ... i have to dress up for work Monday (big meeting) and i pulled my skirt & jacket out of the closet - the one i bought last year and it never did quite fit and hasnt been worn - well it is big ... like really big. not sure if i will be able to pull it off Monday. i hope so cause i am tired of buying new outfits and them not fitting soon after ... :scared: oh damn, i am SO full from dinner. i cant wait to get my fill. i need it so bad. for dinner i had chicken fajitas ... all of the chicken, some queso, 2 tortillas and lots of onions ... oh and refried beans ... way too much ... dont forget the dessert!! i will do better tomorrow.

    Stall at 2nd week?

I forgot to tell you a positive thing about a stall. Every time the scale stopped moving the inches seemed to melt away. This happens to lots of us. It's weird and doesn't make sense but a NSV for sure!
  3. This last week was a whirlwind. We had the Security Forces ball on Friday, and it was awesome. I was complimented on my dress by a lot of strangers, and my husband's face just lit up every time someone told us what a great looking couple we were. I don't think I've ever felt so fabulous. It was my first ball, my first formal since my senior year prom. Least to say, it was emotional, and fun all rolled into one. Saturday we headed out with some friends on their boat. We fished, swam, saw dolphins, and had a great time. I did buy a swimsuit, and felt amazing in it. I did buy a cover up, but it's just this lacy thing with sleeves. I felt confident walking into the shoppette on base just wearing that, and didn't think twice about anyone else seeing me. For the first time since 8th grade, that's 19yrs for those counting LOL, that I haven't been self conscious. Not to mention, this is the first time since 8th grade that I've owned a swimsuit. It was all new territory for me. But, I met the mental challenge head on, and conquered it. I couldn't believe that I wasn't worried about what people were thinking. I just let everything go, and I feel like a huge weight (no pun intended) has been lifted off of me. I am just living life for the first time, and you know what, it feels amazing. We were busy all weekend. The husband got sunburnt and looks like a lobster, the kiddo told me how beautiful I looked in my gown, and I had an amazing time without all the worries, and self-doubt. That's huge milestone in my journey. I don't get many NSVs anymore, I'm just living, and that alone is the biggest NSV thus far. I had to realize that I was taking all the little things for granted. Like, not huffing and puffing after lugging groceries in from the truck, my knees not screaming at me after walking around the mall for 2-3 hours (sometimes more if I hit other stores when I'm in the shopping mood), all the things that made me miserable when I was fat are gone. Physically and mentally I'm stronger and healthier than I have ever been. That's not to say, that I don't have a bad day here and there, we all do, and I've learned that it's okay to have a bad day. I am still critical of myself, and my flaws. I want to not fret over the wrinkly skin, and for the most part, it doesn't bother me. Some days are just tougher than others, and I have to remind myself of where I came from, and look to the future. The sleeve has given me a life I never had before, and I can't wait to live each day to the fullest.

    NSV

And the best one yet for me... Yesterday I had a follow up with my surgeon. While listening to my heart he said, "oh wow, your heart rate has gotten so much slower!" YAY!!!!! Prior to surgery my resting heart rate was 120's-130s. Now it's in the 60-70s!!!! I'm loving what all these changes are doing to my body!!!

    Fenton vs. PRCowboy Challenge

Harold - I will be sure to send candies - sugar free of course !!! David - thanks - I'll take any and all inspiration. Honestly, I'm not upset, actually quite happy where I am. I see other NSV's all along (especially clothes) that keep me happy away from the scale. I bust my butt at least 5 days at the gym, eat like a "normal" human being and when I don't, the band is there to remind me. I feel better now than I have in years. I know its just a number, but would like to see myself at overweight, not obese sooner than later....
  7. So I went in for a fill today. Was not even sure that she would give me a fill, but she ended up giving me .20 since I had .50 taken out the last time. So my first NSV was when the nurse was taking my vitals. She was looking up my BMI and I asked her how close I was to not being "OBESE". She looked at me and said that I was NOT obese. Hehe. liked that one... I have about 4lbs to go until I am officially declared "overweight" So then I saw the surgeon outside the room and thanked him again for doing my surgery!!! He just looked at me and said WOW what are you a 27. Im like huh!!! No im a 14. He just laughed and said he thought my BMI was a 27. The nurse laughed and said no she is a 30 and he said that I looked way smaller than that. He wanted me to go and talk to people at the next seminar that he is having in Septemember. He thinks I will be at my goal within 6-7 months of my surgery. I told him that was my goal too!!!

    Excuses, Excuses

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa. Amazing itsn't it. You loose 65 pounds and you whole life changes. Why did you get banded n the first place? I mean, what was the real deep down reason? What kept you fat all those years? What does fat mean to you? What does being fat represent? What are some of the most amazing NSVs you've had, what brain things clicked or snapped, what relevations hav you had since loosing your weight? If having lost 65 pound, can you see how your life would change further with more weight loss? Are you ready for those changes or are you at some level afraid of them? You have not booked excuses. You just have to learn how to manage these parties. And how to manage your life before the parties so you don't undo all your hard work. I think the number one thing you are going to need to do is manage your time. You have all these other things booked, so with the extra income, you really need to think about getting a personal trainer. Think of this as a professional development expense. Even if your eating and drinking get out of hand, at least the trainer will be able to mitigate some of it. You must figure out how to schedule time to excersize. Must Must Must. Besides you deserve it. Make sure you are getting in your Water. Stave off dehydration and flush out the toxins from the martinis. Eat a good dinner before your parties. And you know what I mean by good. Get some protien, get some fat, get some complex carbs. Low-glycimic baby.
  11. And here approaches my first set of Holidays with the band. So far, I am being very good.. anyone else having NSV moments when they pass the unbelievable amount of Halloween candies and treats?? I deliberately don't walk down candy aisles anymore as not to tempt myself.. but when I go grocery shopping now, there they are EVERYWHERE. I walk by them several times, and I hear them whisper my name. But alas, I say NO TO YOU CANDY!! Anyone else having these proud moments? :car:
  12. So I was watching all of the wedding shows on TLC today (don't ask me why, I have been married for almost 20 years and am not planning a wedding for anyone else, but I still like them). While watching, I suddenly got this crazy craving for white wedding cake with raspberry filling. I never even liked sweets before VSG, so I do not know why I was thinking about it. I could have gone to the store and bought a piece and just had a couple of bites, but even then, who would I be "cheating"--myself, that's who. So instead, I decided to try a "goal" (very early progress goal, not final goal) bathing suit that I bought. It's a Miracle Suit (halter, really cute) and 6 (women's plus) sizes smaller than the suits I usually wear to work out. I never thought it would fit in a million years, especially because Miracle Suits usually run a size (2 women's sizes) smaller, but it did! I don't look great of course, but I look like a healthier version of ME. Plus the suit has underwire, which is so much nicer than the soft cups--which I know other ladies who wear a bigger cup size can relate to. I couldn't find the underwire in bigger-sized suits (which makes no sense, but I digress). So now I am so happy, I am not only not going to tempt myself with anything that isn't on plan, I am going to go work out in my new bathing suit! I already have it on, after all. Also, I saw a friend that I haven't seen since before VSG, and she asked if I had lost some weight. I said "a little" (probably 35 pounds pre- and post-op since I've seen her), and she said, "No, a LOT!" It was my first compliment! I think people may start noticing more bc I am starting to wear "mini goal" clothes that I had bought a while ago (also like having a new wardrobe without spending $$). Our weight loss is definitely more obvious in more fitted clothes.
  13. @longer-life, you can hijack anytime! I just love getting all this info and different perspectives. I'm mostly looking forward to the day that I can give this kind of experienced reassurance to someone just starting their sleeve journey. On the low calories, I'm not happy about that because I don't want to get sick. But considering what everyone had to say I'm going to give it a serious effort to try and relax and just step away from the scale. @lissa, I will look for those NSVs! I will add you to MFP too - you're the first one I've tried to add. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    Wishing I Could.....

Yes, there's a lot of work to do, but it's SO worth it when you start having those NSV's !!!
  15. The last time I lost a significant amount of weight on my own was around 1994! I got down to about 240 doing Atkins and exercising everyday for about a year. Of course, it didn't last, but that's the last time I saw the 250's! Well, I broke into the 250's today at 259! About 44 lbs down from my highest and surgery was in August! Not what I should be, but I'm sure not what I used to be! Woohoo!

    Minor victories

Your minor victories are pretty awesome! These are called NSV's, Non-Scale Victories (in case you didn't know).

    Wishing I Could.....

@ Justine13: Well they go up to a 3X so I'm hoping I can realistically be in a 1X-2X by November. That would be at least a 50 lbs total weight loss for me. I have a lot to lose. I have my "skinny" clothes on hand in the house and I don't foresee buying anything new except bras, underwear and pants as the weight comes off. I have a whole stable of black pants and leggings on hand, but none have belt loops or zippers. They truly are my "big girl" pants with the elastic waist. I just can't wait to feel comfortable in my own skin. Just comfortable being able to cross my legs like a lady, wear a mini-skirt on "date night," sit comfortably at a booth in a restaurant, not have to request a seat belt extender on the plane, and sit Indian style on the floor w/o effort. Little rewards like that, I want to experience. I think the lingo on the forum is NSV (non scale victory). I think I got it right?....LOL. I just look forward to what I will be able to accomplish with this new tool (The Sleeve) to help me with my weight loss and health. Sigh...Lots of work to do!

    Off My C-pap!!!!

Go Deanna, Go Deanna! You're a rock star! And really sharing these NSV's is so important for the ones coming up behind us. It gives so much hope. I remember getting my CPAP and being depressed for weeks. The improved sleep helped with that though LOL. I packed mine away sooner than I should have, but getting rid of it was really important to me. Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Wow wow wow, aren't these NSV fun as well as gratifying!
  20. As I was losing weight, I noticed that one of my NSV (non scale victories) was going in and buying a piece of new clothes that were slightly smaller than my current size. You know, the kind that if you took a deep breathe, you would pop a button on the pants. And then a week later, that piece of clothes would fit me like a glove. It was quite a thrill.
  21. As I was rushing to get to work today, it was time to put on my shoes. I didn't see my 24" shoe spoon around to help me put them on. I reached down and slipped my two fingers into the heel and easily slid my foot into the shoe. I could have been doing this for weeks and just didn't realize it! I was sooooo accustomed to using the shoe spoon, I didn't realize my surgery had eliminated another issue. I am more and more grateful EVERY DAY for this second chance at a wonderful life.
  22. At 12 days post-op I experienced my first NSV today. As my size has yo-yo'ed over the years I have all sizes of clothes in my closet, with shirts from (men's) size 16 1/2 up to size 19. I was very pleased to find that I now fit comfortably into an 18 1/2, and almost a size 18. My NSV was packing up all of my size 19 shirts to give to charity. Not quite yet ready to drop down a pant size but hoping that will come in another week or two. Anyway, the first NSV feels very good!

    Roll call for Sept 30th...

How's everyone doing? We are heading into our 7th wk post op-can you believe that? I see lots of us have gone through stalls. I know focusing on the scale is what most of us do, but what have been some of your biggest NSV (Non Scale Victories)? Mine were buying regular wide calf boots (vs extra extra wide calf) and taking the stairs instead of the elevator without losing my breath. Also, is it too early to share some of our "afters"? That's always great motivation.
