  1. I was sleeved on Monday dec 5 , since then I have had no problems getting all my fluids and proteins in at all. I don't feel full and I don't have any trouble swallowing. I eat cream of wheat for breakfast , a protein shake for snack, a cream soup for lunch another protein shake for snack and usually some more soup for dinner with some unflavored protein powder in it. If I want I may have some yogurt or pudding later in the evening. Is this too much? I don't feel uncomfortably full at all, I don't really feel a restriction when eating although I am measuring my portions to stay on plan, I just see all these people having all the problems and only getting in like 400 calories where I am easily getting in 700-900 calories a day. Help am I doing something wrong?
  2. I actually sucked on a Fritos today to just get the taste. I am soooooo over yogurt, protein shakes, and broth. I still have 6 more days of liquid! Ugh :-/

    6 week PO Food

I did reeeaaally runny scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. I dont think I even started with vegetables (cooked or otherwise) until about month 3…but only because of the lack of stomach real estate. According to my food logs, i also dabbled in smoked oysters (from the can), yogurt and creamed soups.
  4. I am a little late coming in on this conversation, but, I came on here to ask a similar question...so I am right there with you undertaker. I am 4 days post op, drinking like a fiend (protien, Water, broths, etc) and I am SOOOOOOO hungry! I got the band for a reason as well. I want to get my self healthier, but that does not make this liquid phase any easier...I tried liquidy cream of wheat, yogurt and a couple of veggie straws yesterday and today and had no problems...I just wish i wasnt so so hungry, I am trying to get through this first liquid and mushy phase the right way but I was just curious what some other people were going through. I kind of didnt even want to post this becasue of all the not so nice comments you got, but oh well!
  5. Go on Pinterest and look up Bariatric puree recipes. Tons of ideas! I get to switch to purées on Tuesday (2 weeks out) and I can't wait. I'm gagging down shakes right now. I have yummy things planned. Scrambled eggs with feta. Chili. Refried Beans with chicken, cheese, and sour cream. Ricotta bake. Ground beef and ricotta in marinara. Tuna with mayo and pickles (no peel). I see so many people complaining about being sick of Soups and yogurt. Think outside the box, people!
  6. What do you mean "you can't get it down"? Are you too tight to eat proper foods? We need more info. I base my eating on a bit of a schedule, ie: try to eat yogurt for breakfast, some protein for lunch and dinner time. If I eat 70 grm protein a day if I have untimed "hunger" then I judge it to be head hunger and drink 16 oz water. That usually works for me.
  7. The other day at work I was starving in the afternoon. I kept thinking about going and getting a bag of Cookies out of the vending machine. This went on for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Finally I decided, heck, I haven't bought anything out of the vending machine since my surgery 9 months ago and gave myself the go ahead to buy the cookies. Then I thought "oh, i have a babybell cheese and an yogurt in the fridge" and I realized neither one of them sounded even the least bit apealing to me. That's when I realized I wasn't really hungry at all (and I thought I was starving) !!?? I'm happy to say I didn't buy the cookies or eat the cheese or yogurt! It is really difficult to distinguish between the two sometimes. Good Luck!

    Breakfast

for the first 3.5 years my usual breakfast was Greek yogurt - and then Greek yogurt with a few berries or some diced fruit on top. the last few months it's been protein pancakes topped with 1/3 C plain Greek yogurt and either diced fruit and sugar free syrup OR topped with plain Greek yogurt and some homemade fruit compote (made by cooking down fruit with sugar free Torani syrup and adding a little cinnamon and vanilla extract)
  9. Feeling much better, been eating baked chicken or yogurt and water. I’m gonna say it’s normal to have one of those days when u wanna cheat, This is new to me but I’ll make it through. I feel like I’m getting head hunger a lot so I usually just drink water or finish my work. Is it normal to no feel restriction tho, I usually stop myself so I don’t feel uncomfortable.

Here is the interview I heard: http://www.npr.org/2016/08/18/490432969/eating-yogurt-is-not-enough-rebalancing-the-ecosystem-of-the-microbes-within-us
  11. I'm actually 2 weeks post op today also. My doctor is having me on 2 weeks of full liquids (after the first week of clear liquids) and not on pureed until next week. I've been eating yogurt and all sorts of different kinds of Soup. I definitely would NOT go to solids yet. Your stomach is not healed enough to eat solids yet. You would run the risk of doing damage to the suture stitching in your stomach and then could have leakage. The best advice my doctor and dietician gave me was to not advance to soon. Good luck with whatever you decide.

    Eggs post op?

Yes, I have a sleeve, but progressions can vary widely depending upon how much inflammation you have in your stomach. With minimal inflammation, fluids should go down fairly easily (sip, sip, sip!) but with a lot of inflammation it can be like feeding it through a pinched soda straw - sip a bit, let it settle through, sip a bit more..... I had little problem with any fluids or even soft things like yogurt, puddings, Jello, etc. so I apparently had little effective inflammation. My wife, on the other hand, had significant inflammation and had a hard time moving Protein shakes through her system for a while. Both results are within the spectrum of normally expected results. Are you having problems with just getting the liquid down, or is it more the taste and consistency of the Protein Shakes? If liquids and semi-liquids like yogurt are difficult, then firmer things like eggs will probably be harder still, unless you make them reeeeaaallly runny. If it's more of a gag reflex thing (and some of those Protein drinks are gag-worthy,) try a different brand, diluting it with some other flavors, or as suggested, mixing it with Water or one of the fake milks (almond, soy, etc.) if milk seems to be a problem. Temperature can make a difference, too, some can't take them too cold or warm.
  13. I am about 10 weeks post op and I found that Greek Yogurt mixed with one or two sugar substitutes and spoonfuls of either sugar free grape or strawberry preserves is really very good if you like yogurt. I, too tried baby food, and hated it. I also bought some low salt and "healthier soups" with chicken and egg noodles and put those in the blender and they were good as well. Of course the old standby is a scrambled egg or mashed tuna or chicken salad or egg salad. I hated low fat mayo, so I just used regular mayo. So far I am down 35 pounds. Good luck!

    what to cook?

Tofu. Hard boiled eggs. Jerky. Yogurt. Protein bars. Cottage cheese. String cheese. Almost 7 years and those are my Go to foods. Best of luck. Keep us updated❤???´
  15. I went back to work after 2 weeks post surgery. I just stuck with protein shakes, yogurt, soup, etc...Oh and sipped water all day. It was really hard, I was tired and achey, my tummy still felt tender, I couldn't hardly eat, etc...but my doctor said it was normal and I was still healing. I would definitely talk to your doctor, but for sure just give your self time to heal. Even though the band is less invasive, it is still major surgery....give your self the time...your journey has just begun.

    Breakfast

Here are some of my breakfast, because like you I don't eat at home and I don't have a lot of time: Dannon Light and Fit Greek Yogurt with 2x Protein (only 80 calories) with a few blueberries and a sprinkle of granola Special K Protein Cereal with 1% milk Weight Watchers High Protein shake (20 g of protein) High Fiber Oatmeal with blueberries or banana or apple chopped up in it All of these are fairly low cal, so if I get hungry mid morning I will have an apple with Peanut Butter or grapes with cheese, or a peach What I try to do is eat a lot of protein, fiber and fruit and veggies each day. I try to eat clean- nonprocessed- it has helped me not only feel better, but my body is more regulated.

    100% Pure Peanut Powder

I get the Jif one too, as I can grab it on the shelf when I run out, instead of ordering it. My favorite is adding it to my Protein 'pudding' -- I mix 3 or 4 ounces of nonfat or 2% Fage Greek yogurt with a scoop of chocolate Protein Powder and a serving of peanut powder -- I add stevia and a teeny bit of cocoa to make it stronger, and it's to die for! (best if you can let it sit in the frig to meld for an hour or so - or overnight as needed.

    100% Pure Peanut Powder

I use both PB2 and another brand peanut powder. Love it in shakes, with cottage cheese, or yogurt.
  19. I had a similar issue for my first few months post-op. Yogurt was fine. Cottage cheese? Fine! Milk to mix a protein shake? Bad. So bad. I've taken to mixing my shakes with almond milk. I can have regular milk now without getting sick, but sometimes it doesn't sit right.
  20. *Scrambled eggs with a bit of cottage cheese mixed in to make them super moist *Refried beans with melted cheese and green chili sauce *Hummus *Guacamole *Pureed tuna fish (yes, this was good with a dab of mustard) *Plain Greek yogurt flavored with protein powder and/or Torani syrups *Any kind of soup I could find that didn't contain rice or noodles....pureed with unflavored protein powder added *I also continued with my protein drinks thoughout all stages as they are an easy way to help meet protein and fluid goals.

    Can't lose! Help!

Hi I would call your doctor as well. If everything looks ok from him I would totally change the types of foods you are eating. Eliminate carbs completely for a week to see if that jump starts you...change the type of exercise you do so that your body gets confused....and lastly, eat less. I know 1000 cal isn't that much, but technically my doc wants me to eat between 800-900 cal a day (i try to monday-thursday). Maybe introduce greek yogurt...lean meats & cheeses...salads, etc. Whenever i get "stuck" in the same place for a week or more I change up my diet and it works every time.

Am I able to eat to much?

Yogurt is a liquid, so it isn't really going to cause restriction. Some people heal faster than others. be happy and grateful, it means you can meet your protein goals easier.
  23. I would also add to check with your surgeon regarding quantities and types of soft foods. For example, I was not allowed any mushies till after week 4! and then it was only foods like yogurt, cottage cheese or a srambled egg. In terms of quantities, only about a tablespoon. I eventually worked my way up to 1 oz of food. It took me a few weeks from there to get to 3 oz or so. Now 5 months out I can eat about 4 to 6 oz, 8 max depending on the food I am eating. So be sure you are not overfilling your pouch on this first phase of mushie foods. Hope you feel better soon and you're able to figure this out!

    Day after surgery

My RNY was on the 19th of September and the Doctor has me crushing all pills until the 19th of October. I can hardly wait to bypass the foul tasting ground up meds. I've been mixing with unsweetened Applesauce or Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt

    Fruit?

Thank you, Berry! I was doing yogurt but can no longer take the taste of artificial sweeteners even Stevia. I liked cottage cheese as a kid. Maybe I can tolerate it now. You’re right. I need to keep experimenting. If you think of anything else, I welcome your ideas and tips.
