I flew for the first time this weekend since having the surgery in July. Wow! What a difference. I used to be able to put the seatbelt on, but it would be snug and stretched out to the max length. When I put it on this time around, I pulled a good 6-10 inches of seatbelt to make it fit properly. The scale hasn't moved in a month or more, but things like this are keeping me going!

Great NSV !!! Isn't it an amazing feeling to put on a old tight piece if clothing to realize its to big I keep my give away bag right next to my mirror as things get to big I out in bag to give away because I will never be that size again thanks to the band and my hard work

Wonderful NSV. Pre-gain I used to wear seven rings and lots of bracelets. I look forward to that again at some point. Thanks for the inspiration this morning!

When I started my weight loss journey 3 years ago I wore a size 12 ring, when it fit! I was over 420 pounds, in 2 years I lost 170 pounds and maintained for 1 year than in July got banded. I have now lost over 200 pounds. Last weekend went shopping with a friend and we were looking at jewelry the clerk insisted I try a ring on, much to my amazement it fit! She said it was a size 7, well I knew a 8 fit but could it be. I than tried on a dozen or more rings all were size 7's!! OMG the first ring I ever owned at age 11 was a 10, I have never worn a size 7 ever! Well my friend said well Susan you said you wanted to wear a single digit size and I laughed and said I didn't mean in a ring or underpants! I wear 12 and 14's but I want to make it to a single digit size hopefully! But hey a 10 would be great too! Just had to share.

Hmm I can't seem to figure out which forum this fits in best so I guess I'll post it here. I put on a pair of 20 jeans! AND then bent over and tired my shoes without turning blue in the process. I did the happy dance!!!!! Last week the 20's were still a bit snug.

I had two NSVs to share. First one is I was in the drive-thru at the bank dropped my slip on passengers side floorboard and I could actually lean over and pick it up!!! Previously I would not be able to reach it cuz my belly couldn't get past the steering wheel! Secondly I was clipping my toenails and realized I wasn't out of breath and red faced and could actually reach them all pretty effortlessly! And for me that's no small feet! (Pun intended ). :-).

I ran 2 miles this morning. Pretty pumped up about it, as I was shooting for just one but kept on running (felt a bit like Gump). At the beginning of the year, I could barely walk a mile. This has been a life changer!

Way to go!! Awesome NSV

I'm 6 weeks post op and I'm down two jeans sizes! Today I put on a pair of jeans that were so tight 3 months ago that I could barely breathe with them on, and they were so loose all over that I could get them off easily without unbuttoning them! Tonight I had hubby take measurements since I hadn't done any for almost 6 months. From June until now I've lost 2" in each calf, 2" in my hips, and almost 7" in my waist! It's unbelievable. Here's a picture comparing July and now.

Thanks. I'm running every other day, getting in my fluids better and protein since I started going to the gym regularly. Also started losing faster again. In all I am so glad that I can run with out pain again, that's an NSV for sure! How's everybody else doing? -
From the album: 4th Month Post-op
Big NSV for me: my grandmother put aside this ring when I was born. It was given to me years ago after she passed. This is the first time I can actually fit it. -

I can cross my legs like a lady! No more ankle to knee lumberjack crossing here! Knee to knee dainty crossed legs. Btw, that means my thighs are small enough now to fit together! Silly NSV but made me feel good. : )

its good to hear from you all and know that I am not alone in this journey... I understand what you are all saying... and yes working the sleeve... and keeping a food diary is important, and exercise no matter if the weather is turning cold and the days short... I bought a treadmill for $50... lol it works fine so I am going to give that a whirl when the days are too cold and too short... I was at 184.9 ... what a tease this morning... I weigh only once a week... I am going to try to up my protein and cool it on those foods that go down so easy... usually carbs... I too struggle with the denser meats.... I have lots and lots of NSV... I think if I reach a size 10 I will def. have broken my sabotaging ways... lol never been below a 14 in my life.... so I am treading new ground...

NSV's: Cute Clothes and A Cute Boyfriend

Miss Pearlie has done an outstanding job in such a short amount of time. I've just had the most romantic weekend and I'm going on pure adrenaline and butterflies today since I only slept for 2 hours last night. Anyway...I can wear the prettiest clothes and it's fun coming up with new combinations to wear them, so for the first time in a very long time I treated myself to a shopping spree on Saturday morning. I came back with clothes that I think I love more than any I've ever had and I can't wait to wear them - something I haven't felt since planning for the first day of school during senior high. And - a guy that I've known for 4 years is looking like he's going to shape up to be a great companion for me. He lives in a neighboring state, but has family (who really like me and have urged him to move back just for me for at least 3 of those years) that he visits often in Houston; he recently accepted a new job and can visit every other weekend now. Call it a hunch, but I can see him moving back to Houston within the next year - I can't see things getting anything but better from here. He is a country gentleman, he's romantic, he loves animals, he's great with kids, has high morals and ethics and he's a good person...a benefit of knowing him for so long before getting to this point. He was attracted and attractive to me before I lost weight, so the doubt about "would he want me if I was the same weight as before" isn't something I have to be concerned about. Another bonus. It's funny...he looks a lot like an actor I had a crush on and his personality matches a character that the actor played in one of my favorite movies (Allen Payne, Jason's Lyric). What's more is that I love the way people look at us, we catch strangers staring and smiling at us and that is so different because before the weight loss, I didn't think we "matched" like he was too attractive to be with me - I know, I know, self esteem, yada yada yada...but now, I don't feel that way and in his own way he "shows me off" when we go out. I never thought I'd be arm candy. LOL Ok...all of this might have been TMI, but I haven't been in love with anyone in more than 14 years - this is an amazing development and I want to share it with the world. -

Awww...thank you. I am actually wearing 42's in this pic and they are baggy. I only have one other pair of jeans a size 40 and they were in the laundry. I am waiting a while before I buy more. These are barely two months old. Funny thing about the belt. That is my original belt that barely fit to be buckled when I started. It is such a great NSV seeing how it wraps around me. -
So many of us got this surgery because we were parents who wanted to do right by our kids. As you lose the weight, is it changing things for your kids? What do they think about it? At our house: -no more junk food anywhere in the house -my son has to eat Protein first (he would have lived on just bread if you let him) -we went to the state fair where I was able to walk all over and was less tired than him -my kids are our biggest supporters and they're seeing us succeed. That makes me happy. Cute NSV. I've been slopping around in 2xl pjs. Loose, unsexy, old. My husband gently reminded me that I could now buy sexy lingerie if I wanted? (If I wanted, not he. Sneaky!) I bought some L sizes pjs. I feel they cling to me too much. I asked my 13-year old if they were too tight. Here's his answer: "Wow! (Waves hands in hourglass shape) They look just fine to me!" Hahahahaha!

pre work out meal suggestions ???first time puking during a work out :(
readysetg070113 posted a topic in Fitness & Exercise
Yes I know puking is bad.. I started this new high intensity training class at the gym. I got severe abdominal cramps and then i threw up slightly and some other issues as I am a lady Ill spare the details. The trainer does not know i am banded and I usually don't eat before working out cause my system doesn't like early morning meals. usually my vitamins and coffee pre workout and then protein post workout. Im not worried I hurt my band as it was minimal and I don't vomit often. I handled my bathroomish business a missed one loop of the training and then continued to do class . He said I must eat a little something prior to this class as my body needs fuel. One trainer suggested peanut butter on a piece of toast I Was wondering what other's eat. My initial thoughts is a protein shake as i do best with liquids as soon as I wake up. My NSV is I'm not giving up on this class. Its supposed to be an 8 week transformation program. I measured my self today to track changes. I plan by week 8 making it through with no issues what so ever:) Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
