Adventures with Unjury Unflavored
expectopatronum replied to expectopatronum's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I bought some of the GENEPRO but I've read mixed reviews on it so I've been hesitant to open it up and try it. I had no idea that the hardest part of this so far would be drinking a silly protein shake! -
Knox Gelatine - I add a packet of plain to every cup of broth, 8 more protein and no taste. Try consume, it's a clarified, high protein broth. Some ladies in the support group I found said they use Genepro. They add it to everything they drink, dissolves in hot or cold. Also, add 2 pits of Knox to the jello - gives extra protein and tones down the sweet. And like everyone else says, hang in there! Day 5 I hit my breaking point. Today I'm 9 days out and in a much better head space!

Protein drink recommendations
chiquitatummy replied to Koko.G's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ditto on Fairlife and GenePro. I also found that premier hasn't set as well with me post surgery, but Fairlife has been easy to get down and Genepro is easy to mix into anything (just keep the temp below 140) to bring the protein up. I also like the BariatricPal cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soups. I doctor them up with no salt seasoning and mushroom salt (you can find it at any Asian market and it's amazing) then strain to make sure there are no bits of herb before drinking. -
i use pure protein for my shakes with some torani syrup, and genepro if i am cooking.

I dont do protein shakes. They're gross. I add Genepro unflavored protein powder to my drinks

Yes, I have also used Genepro and vital proteins collagen peptides. Both mix into liquids with no problems and don’t change the flavor or consistency. -
Milky Protein NO MAS!!! I need help!
Colorado Cowgirl replied to Erica_B's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Buy unflavored protein powder and add a teaspoon to chicken broth, chicken soup, thinned out refried beans, etc. I eat Genepro and I can't taste it if I mix it really well. Each teaspoon is 10 g of protein. -
I could use some help figuring out how to proceed with the all-important protein! What do you all use? I don’t like anything with flavor, so I’m just comparing unflavored powders. 1) Genepro— been using for months successfully, but their product (or labeling?) changed so it might be time to change. Maybe I’ve overestimated how much protein I got if they mislabeled?? 2) Tried Isopure and BiPro Bold (both yuck) 3) Considering Unjury Unflavored—does anyone use this? Taste, smell, texture? 24g scoop, 21g protein at $1.60 per serving. 4) New Genepro (3rd generation) is lower on protein. Calculated to compare to Unjury, a 22g scoop is 22g protein at $2.66 per serving. 5) Someone posted about Vital Proteins, but it contains a lot more sodium than I’d like. 6) Am I missing any other options? Thanks!

Can't drink Protein, HELP!
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Tessa1988's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Most people love the Premuir Protein drinks. I had to do them 2 weeks before my RNY and then 4 weeks after. The problem I had was I had the "Back door trots" the whole time I used them. When I was almost done with my 4 weeks my PA said, Well you have become Lactose Intoerant!! Thank you so much. I could hardly go outside of my house!!! So sad but so true. I found a protein that I couyld tolerate afterwards, It is MYLOPLEX RICH DARK CHOCOLATE. But now I have my GENEPRO unflavored protein in my Espresso everyday!! Love it. It has 30grams of protein in 1 TABLESPOON. There are some that don't beleive it has 30grams of protein, but I haven't seen the info. -
Can't drink Protein, HELP!
doingit4me2017 replied to Tessa1988's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Bone broth has more protein then just broth. I really don't like eating meat, I am just to get the protein, but I would prefer not too. I usually drink a premier protein drink a day to help, but they taste terrible, too sweet. I like my Genepro 30grm protein powder, I prefer drinking protein water but it's expensive. I wish someone would make it in a protein water powder, I dislike protein shakes. Good luck, it does get better. -
9 weeks out and only getting about 600 calories in daily

Maybe try adding Genepro unflavored protein to broth or other foods. -
I am in no way a vendor or affiliated with the GENEPRO company. I do agree with you about all the reviews not only for this product but others as well. But I took a chance with Genepro, I must say I was very impressed. I 3 vendors took the bag to my ARNPC who is my program coordinator. We sit and looked up each ingredient she was impressed with it as well. Her only concern was one of the ingredients is used to treat anarexia. She advised just to be vigilant about watching your weight and not using it as your soul source of Protein. I first tried it in just plain Water to test the no taste and no smell. I mixed on scoop with 16 Oz of water. It doesn't dissolve real quickly but it does. It looks like water downed milk in the water. But for me there was no smell and no real taste in the water. But you do have to keep it stirred up cuz if not then it might be a little gritty but still no taste. The $38 is a little pricy but average price for a decent Protein powder. So anyways that's my opinion of it and I currently use I scoop a day. Again I have nothing to do with the company and this is just on own personal review.

Protein pill ?
WaitingontheNewMe replied to Sleeveforme2017's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Getting protein in at week 2 for me was very difficult! I agree with "clc9", you have to start your day early. Protein is a must, I didn't do well getting in my protein the first three weeks. I now add 30g of Genepro unflavored to about 6oz of water three times a day. It does get better. Best wishes! -
Surgery postponed, new date July 12

Hi I buy my GENEPRO online thru Amazon. It is kind of expensive but it only takes 1 tablespoon. Some will argue about the grams of protein, I have used this for quite awhile now and have not had anything abnormal on my blood work. It is the only one that is tasteless that I have found. Good Luck -

Recommendations for unflavored protein powder
Esi replied to Christina Phillips's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now that the new Genepro changed their product, I am looking for a new brand. I tried BiPro Bold and Isopure, both unflavored. Both tasted and smelled like mold and had to be discarded. Does anyone use a protein powder that is unflavored, and truly tastes and smells like nothing? -
There is a whole lot of people that have different ideas as does the DR.'s on the amount of Protein that we absorb at one time. But...I was told as I have heard others say the same thing, that our bodies can only use 30grams at a time. Now as for the protein I use, First let me tell you I'm 3 years out and I shudder at the thoughts of how much money I have wasted on protein products. It is a good thing my nephew took everything that I didn't care for. I finally found a nonflavored and it is nonflavored protein and it is GENEPRO. I use it in my coffee and I do love my coffee. So it is a WIN WIN for me. Now if you want a ready made protein I like ATKINS. They have 15grams of protein in them. I liked MYOPLEX rich dark Protein drinks and I also liked Muscle Milk banana flavored Protein Powder with gram cracker flavored muscle milk, I added 1/2 a frozen banana and lactose-free milk. It was real good tasted like a banana pudding.
