  1. Hey y’all, hope everyone is good. Quick question please, what’s the best way to lose weight after vsg and also does eating less than 500 calories slow down your weight loss in general?
  2. Hi all. I believe for my insurance BlueCross blue shield of Illinois (I have blue choice ppo) they need a letter of recommendation for weight loss surgery by my main doctor. My main doctor is just my obgyn/gynecologist that I see every year. Does she count as a primary doctor, would they accept it from her or I need to find a family doctor general practitioner?

    NO WEIGHT LOSS

i had surgery on july 27, now aug 1 i was 352 , now 356, i do 80 oz of water, and about 90 protein im lost
  4. Just curious. How long after surgery did you hit goal weight? I’m 6 months out and still need another 30-40 lbs.
  5. How does the team determine what your goal weight is? I get confused silence when I ask. I ask because my surgeon, who had the most supportive conversation about BMI I've ever had with me, says I should be aiming for 250-275 lbs. I am six feet tall and currently weigh 370. But it was a Zoom call and he never even saw me other than from the chest up. I know everyone says they're big-framed, but in my case it does seem to be true. I have had DXA scans done and, depending where I am in a training cycle (I was a strongman and now am trying to do more functional stuff), I may have anywhere from 205 to 218 lbs. of lean body mass. So 275 lbs. would be somewhere between 20-25% body fat, which seems a little bit high for a goal weight. 250 lbs. would be 13-18%, which seems about right. I know I will lose some muscle while I can't train, and hopefully will be able to get it back. Or do they just use the bl00dy BMI chart? Just wondering, because to be "successful", you're supposed to lose 60-70% of your "excess weight".
  6. Hi Everyone! I was hoping I could get some guidance! I feel like ever since I've been told that I can eat soft foods my weight has stayed the same!! My surgery was on July 14th and 1 week later my dr approved me to start soft foods since I was recovering well. Now, one week later I got on the scale only to see that my weight is the exact same!! Now, i've already been told about the dreaded 3-week stall but mine is happening at 2 weekss 😭 Nothing has changed besides eating soft foods and usually, I can only squeeze in dinner. For 2 weeks post op, my eating schedule has been AM Protein shake which takes hours for me to finish. Water Gatorade W/ Protein Water or Crystal light with unflavored protein water. Dinner, eating my protein first then vegetables, and usually ONLY last a couple of bites because I'm not hungry, to begin with. Any suggestions as to what could be going on?
  7. I'm almost one year out and down 89#, which is 28# short of my goal weight. That said, I already look "thin", to the point that family & friends - and now me - are questioning why I'm trying to lose the additional weight. I'm 5'6" & 158#. I'm wearing a size small/medium and a size 6 in pants. I'm also planning to have skin removal surgery in the next year or so. While I'm still going to stick to my post-op diet, I no longer feel the need to continue losing. Is this a common thing?
  8. I am 4 years post op and I regained 20 pounds. I cannot lose the weight, I've tried everything. Yesterday I only had 1000 calories. Any recommendations?
  9. Hey all, I was sleeved a little over a year ago. alittle about me, surgery day I weighed in at 386. I’m 6’3” and prior to the sleeve I was in the gym 5 days a week most weeks. I’ve been the same weight since 5 months post op, currently weighed in at 315.No matter what I do, more intense workout, sleeve reset, eating more protein, more water, more greens. ( all those were doctor suggestions). Nothing seems to work, kinda like before I even had surgery. Even got to the point where both the surgeons nurse practitioner has said quote “ I don’t have any answers for you”. The surgeon suggest the sleeve reset because he said I had to be over eating. Which I don’t. I eat like a bird most days i got a second opinion 2 months ago and she put me on a 1600 calorie diet, she thought I was under eating and I struggle to eat 1600 calories. my worst fear was when getting the surgery was it wouldn’t be effective and I understand that I’ve lost like 70lbs. That’s all fine and grand I feel better but I’m only 10 lbs from my lowest weight I achieved on my own and that is extremely disappointing to me. I was told by the surgeon prior to surgery that the weight would melt because I was already active quite a bit. I’ve contemplated getting it revised to the bypass but with the slim success of the sleeve I’m quite reluctant to go get another procedure. im really getting to the point of not caring anymore. The doctors all say my labs are good, no thyroid problems or anything like that. im at a loss, this was supposed to be a nice tool to use to change my life and it just seems like it broke early. thanks for reading and letting me vent Matt
  10. I have a surgery date set (11/5/2021) I would like to start early with getting into habits of tracking my food, activity, weight and measurements. Maybe even add notes to log my mood. Is there an all encompassing app that will allow me to do this easily? Also is there a bathroom scale you recommend? Ideally I would like the scale to send everything to my phone.
  11. im going to be 3 weeks post op this Tuesday I'm going crazy i don't know if some thig is wrong with my surgery i fill i mess it up 😞 i dont know if im full i dont know nothing ive been measurable weight my self today same weight from 2 days ago has some one have been throu this????? im eating soft food know
  12. Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum, and I am two weeks post-op. After surgery, I feel like my surgeon lacks the support I need. So, if I have a question I kind of refrain from asking him. So I thought I would ask on here. Q: I am almost 3 weeks post op, and I stop losing weight. The day of surgery my weight was 251 and a week later I was 240. Now, my weight is just sitting at 241 no movement. I drink water and broth mostly. I do protein shakes as well. Anyone else experience this?

  15. 13 weeks post sleeve to bypass and have been stalled with weight loss...haven't lost for three weeks. I can't find anything that addresses this type of stall, so here I am! I've lost 35 since revision and was hoping to lose a little more. Having my three-month check up on Tuesday...thanks!
  16. Hello everyone my name is Luna and this is my first time ever on this forum and website. I'll start by saying hello, and I hope all is well with everyone during these difficult times. I am a night shift nurse tech in a hospital. Almost 5 years ago I was 450 pounds. I had gastric bypass and I got down to 170 pounds, which was 20 pounds from my goal weight of 150. Three years post op I began working night shift and I have steadily, over the last three years, gained weight back until i was my highest weight since, of 244 pounds (Two weeks ago) I have since then begun eating better and drinking water and am now down to 234-235ish(it changes from day to day) but I am having such a hard time staying motivated and keeping myself from slipping back into the emotional and stress eating that working night shift and my job brings. I have a short term weight loss goal of 10 more pounds which I have decided I am going to reward myself with a new piercing, and I would like to lose twenty more pounds total before my trip in October, and just be more fit in general, so that my back, feet and ankles dont hurt when i walk around disney as bad this year. Long story short, im pretty depressed about my situation which really causes me to, ya know, stress/emotionally eat things i know I shouldnt, and begin to slip back into my bad ways. Looking for penpals, real life pals, online people I can become friends with to keep me motivated, as my support group is small right now due to the amount of hours i work. Feel free to reach out if this hits home. Maybe we can help each other!
  17. I had a Roux en Y procedure done in 2010 and lost about 85 lbs total. Over the years I've maintained my weight pretty well but during this past 6 months I've gone off the rails. I'm not sure if Covid stress finally caught up to me or my new meds are the culprit, but if anyone has any advice, good words, etc... I could use them. Thanks
  18. So I’m about two weeks post op and I’ve been losing something every day. Today I woke up and the scale went up about .5 pounds and I’m freaking out. Should I be this worried?

    Weight gain

I had Sutton 2006 I have gained about 50 back from the 130lbs that I lost. Any suggestions on losing weight at this point.
  20. I had surgery May 04, 2021. I am 10 weeks out and have not lost a lb in several weeks and am only 26 lbs down total. I started at 216 and I was a very restrictive eater before surgery had been for years. Never ate over 1500 calories a day. Very insulin resistant. Any one else have this type of issue? Did I waste my money even doing this? I just feel defeated at the moment watching everyone else have success.
  21. My last appointment is in October and just was seeing if there was anyone else out there have there last appointment coming up.
  22. UPDATE:

I was down to lowest weight of 117, kept around 123 for couple years, but recently due to covid gained back. got back up to 146, been trying to bounce back some and right now am at 140. Goal 117-120 ish.

    Experimenting with Macros:

    Fat 75%, Net carbs 5%, Protein 20%.

7/17/21: Day one: lightheaded, tired, randown, headache, not really that hungery, but thinking of food consistently, also but out alcohol and sugar, blah.

  23. I am still within 10lbs of my goal, but I've gained 25 lbs during this COVID fiasco. I'm convinced it's all wine calories from the lock downs! I maintained under my goal weight for 3 years and now here I am... creeping. So - getting back at it. I'm paranoid, no correction... terrified of regain. You can see the first pic shows where I am today and the second shows where I was two years ago. People around me are "fish toshing" me, but this is where it starts. This is where you have to get a grip and get on track. It only gets worse from here if you don't. So - I'm gonna get back to it... NOW. Any suggestions for "getting back to basics?" I do well with plans.
  24. What are your thoughts about using a prescription strength appetite suppressant after weight loss surgery? I had my surgery in May of this year and I absolutely do not want to gain any weight back now or after reaching my goal. But…I love food, love to eat and still graze with now smaller, healthier portions. Please let me know what do you think? Or can anyone relate?
  25. I'm on here in my head. Lol I started my journey at 281 and when I had surgery I weighed 258. In May I had to have surgery, a permanknee fusion on my left leg. Rod runs from my hip to my ankle. So needless to say exercise is still hard rt now. I have to use a cane to walk. So I'm down to 216 but thats only like 10lbs a month. I've lost down and alot of inches but I feel depressed. I see so many that was at my weight at surgery and are finally below 200.. This journey is more than a food tool. Its emotional. I try not to judge my weight loss by others weight loss but its so hard. Sent from my SM-N960U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
