Sorry I have been away and not on the site. I am so glad you are doing better. My advice for what its worth is 6 tiny meals. My team okeyed it. I had protein yogurt for breakfast. A fruit snack later Meat or cheese salad for lunch. Homemade vegetable soup as a snack, mid afternoon Fish and a vegetable for dinner and a snack of cheese and fruit or carrot batons and hummus for a evening snack. This gave me all day eating or so it seemed, a varied healthy diet and no carbs as I couldn't fit them in. I hope you get the help you need. -

Do you supplement with protein shakes or protein waters. The waters were my go to to reach my goal that early out. Another thing is the drinkable yogurts. I have all three on hand in case I’m low on protein through my meals. If so, I have one as a snack. I have actually made the drinkable yogurt myself with a regular yogurt and almond milk and a little fruit in a blender. Mine actually taste better. -
It *could* be hypoglycemia. To prevent that, you're supposed to eat something about every three hours. Preferably a protein if it's WLS-related. Even a thing of yogurt is fine.

Purée Stage
summerseeker replied to powell.j.Sylvia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried lots of pureed foods but as I had already had issues with food smells, the look of pureed food was not for me. I managed home made thick blended soups with lentils and cheese for the protein. It was an unpleasant time for me. On here I heard about protein yogurt and puddings. Life savers. Just do the best you can because it isn't the best time of year when there is so much food around. -
I did the small meals throughout the day too. Mine is every three hours but I have alarms set to remind me or I would never remember because I don’t feel hungry either. Speaking of jerky. Chomps brand makes a turkey jerky that is pepperoni flavored that’s really good. That and cheese sticks are super convenient for on the go. Ooh and the yogurt drinks if you can find one that relatively clean. I did find one but it’s pricey so I started making my own. It’s really easy just Greek yogurt, milk and fruit in a blender. i use a container of non fat plain greek yogurt, 1/4 cup berries and 1/2 cup of almond milk. I just drink it out of the nutra bullet cup if I’m home but I also wash and reuse the containers from the ones I purchased to take on the go. They are $4 each in the store for the ones without added garbage and I always have fruit and almond milk on hand that usually goes to the waste anyways so I just have to buy the yogurt which is a lot cheaper than 4 bucks each.

Yea. I figure that I go over my protein goal on days by two or three grams so that one random day wont kill me. I try to do a shake or a yogurt but I don’t force myself too much. -
Making yogurt with special probiotics
summerseeker replied to Jonathan Carlson's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I make yogurt in my Instant pot or just using a Thermos flask, You dont really need to buy anything. Back in the day we used to make it in a warm cupboard overnight. -
I make a very similar mix for my kids and I top their oatmeal with it, sometimes even their pancakes. I mix it with raw cocoa powder and it makes oatmeal much more fun to eat. You can also top your yogurt with it with some berries.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply 💝 The Sugar probably from my no added sugar fruit yogurt. I stopped added sugar for 8 month now, about the same time I stopped drinking pop which was one of my biggest problems. I had GERD and i thought pop helping me when in fact it was making it worse "a fact i was told when i was admitted to hospital because of GERD". I will ask my team about the fat intake .

My surgeon did not agree with protein shakes so I never had them. I drank full skim milk instead. There is a lot more protein in it than you would imagine. Make your own shakes with fruit, esp banana, peanut butter, greek yogurt. I could manage PB2 powder. Good luck. -

So I found these drinkable yogurts that are super convenient if your running out the door and don’t want another shake or your shirt on protein for the day BUT, the healthy ones are quite expensive. I just made my own. I used a container of yogurt, 1/2c of unsweetened almond milk and 1/4 cup mango. It’s a tad thick so I may try more milk next time. I made it in my nutra bullet and next time I will probably just drink it out of that cup because I feel like I’m wasting a lot of it sticking to the sides of that and another glass but regardless it’s easy and good for yogurt on the go. Just thought I would share. -

We totally get the "cold" vibes for a couple of months too! 😅 And by cold, I mean we're freezing at 19-20°C—total winter mode for us! I absolutely get in the mood to eat more when it's chilly, but I try to ignore it (or at least manage it) by always having good snacks on hand. Things like beef jerky, Greek yogurt, or even some fruits help keep me from overindulging. Your plan to walk and then snuggle back into bed sounds perfect though! Nothing like getting that movement in and rewarding yourself with a cozy snuggle session. 🥰 You've got this! -
When to stop drinking protein shakes?
NickelChip replied to AnV1986's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Generally, the closer you can get to a natural, whole food diet, the better. The goal is to get your protein from real food and to learn recipes and choices that will work for you forever. Having said this, it all depends what you like and what you can tolerate. Personally, I hated protein drinks but I did find a powdered one I liked and ended up having one per day at breakfast until I hit about 8 months post-op, but that was because I pre-bought a ton of the stuff on a big sale and wanted to use it up instead of wasting it. Once you can manage a Greek yogurt, a couple eggs, and 3-6 oz of meat over the course of a day, you probably don't need protein supplements. -
Going back a step?

When I had Tuna for the first time, it was in my soft food stage and it was heavy to eat. In puree, I stuck with cottage cheese, creamy soups, yogurt, mashed beans, and "ricotta bake". I would say try puree, but nix the tuna for now. I wasn't eating more than a 1/4 cup at a time. -

I just chop them in half, scoop out the seeds. Rub it with oil and garlic and add salt and pepper. I roast it in the oven, I don't own a airfryer. You can also rub it with any spice rub of your choosing, I love za'atar and it tastes delicious with mint, yogurt sauce -

Some people can just have a taste but I learned after my sleeve that I am not one of them. I can’t have one slice of pizza or one brownie. Even if I manage to have just one that day I will crave more unhealthy stuff the following days. At bedtime I have been doing the sugar free popsicles. That seems to be working. If you have actual hunger then something with protein would be a better option. Like a Greek yogurt maybe. Can you budget the calories so you can do that. I think the triple zero is only like 80 calories. That should keep you full through the night though. -
So yesterday, I was finally able to get down a cup of decaf coffee, cup of yogurt and a full protein shake (along with sipping my water). I wanted the coffee for sure, the yogurt was purposeful though I didn't really want it and finishing the shake in a day was surprising. However, today I can't help but wonder was that success the beginning of now having an "appetite"? Because did I just have some phantom hunger urge? I mean what is an appetite now? Am I doing too much? Today, coffee down, yogurt down about 2 hours later and I actually wanted it, and now I'm sipping my Butternut Squash soup that I truly did want 😋. Curious what are my true appetite/hunger signals will now be? Anyone care to share their experiences in the early days of PostOp?

Good morning all! I am struggling. Surgery was 10/01 and I have been dealing with morning nausea. It sucks. I can’t really eat or drink anything till 10am ish and the through of protein shakes and yogurt 🤢. Please tell me I am not the only one experiencing this. It’s causing me to NOT hit my goals for water or protein. UGH -
I ate too much this morning, yogurt and cottage cheese. Feel like I could throw up, can I should I ? Will I hurt my sleeve?

I had my sleeve done 09/05 so I’m not allowed yogurt or cottage cheese yet, but I have thrown up (lucky me) and was fine! My surgeon said it was normal, but of course ask your dr if needed. -
How did you handle your birthday in regards to food post op?
RosessXO posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Today (January 16th) is my birthday. 🥳 This year I opted out of the birthday dinner’s I’m usually taken to by friends and family. I am 40 days post op and while I am now in the “eat whatever I can phase” ofc I’m following the low carb / high protein / no sugar diet I’m advised to follow by my bariatric nutritionist. So for my birthday this year, I didn’t want to go to a restaurant knowing I can’t eat too much food right now + I didn’t want to be tempted by restaurant foods. But I did want to know if anyone else had surgery close to their birthday like me and if so, did you allow yourself a birthday treat? Like a cupcake 🧁? I haven’t had sugar (other than my protein shakes and yogurts) since late November so idk how it will affect my stomach either but I was thinking of just getting a little birthday cupcake 🧁 for myself tomorrow. I’d love to hear others input or experience. Thanks! ☺️ -
Does your stomach make noises after you eat? LOL!
Selina333 replied to Selina333's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok! Thank you. So glad it's normal. I usually only hear it several minutes after I've eaten. Like I guess the food is settling in or something? Lol! Yes. I had trouble getting in water at first. Doing much better now. Feel better and not as hungry also because of that so it's very true, I feel hungry when I'm just thirsty. And I think I'll start cooking my veggies. Except cucumbers have been fine and I love them. Grapefruit is good and works well for me too. I need to get yogurt again. Soft foods help. Thank you for sharing. My weight is going down again finally and determined to pay close attention ans keep good habits and continue all the way to my goal. And beyond. I want to build muscle as much as I can so doing tension bands and kettle bells. Just want to be healthier all around by the end of this year. Just will do what I can. No one is perfect. ☺️💗
