  1. I have read several other posts about the 3 week stall. I had surgery 4/18/17. Lost 15 lbs my first week, 7 lbs my 2nd week...and one whole pound this week. I'm going back to work in the morning. When should the weight loss start increasing again? PRE SW 306 SW 297 CW 274 Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. So I was sleeved on February 20th an all has been well. I did have a small stall (4-5 days long) around the 2-3 week mark. Now I am almost 2 and a half months out an my weight loss has slowed a lot with two decent week long stalls in the past 3 weeks. I lost 2 lbs between them but it is back now. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I follow my diet to the T. I do struggle some days to get my protein in just because I can't eat that much. When I do manage to hit my target I seem to just end up gaining an losing the same pound. Just wondering if this is normal? I did start back to shakes today to try and break the stall since some have reported that helped. Not the full liquid diet but mostly . Anything else I can do to get past this?
  3. I was sleeve march 27. I lost 18 lbs yay! Starting at week 3 through week 4 I have completely stalled, 0 weight loss in over a week. What is going on?! This is discouraging. I'm so scared this isn't going to work!

    Awful 3-Week Stall

The dreaded 3-week stall strikes again!!!! Only weighing once a week, jumped right on this morning hoping to see a nice size loss.....only a .3 weight loss??? How can that be?? My calorie intake is only about 400-500? The Laws of logic don't match up. Bummed. [emoji20]
  5. Hello, im 27y.o i got sleeved on 12/6 Sw 250 Cw 203 Its been almost 3 weeks and i havent been able to lose any weight, im scared this is it! When i do not go to the gym im working out at home. My doctor said i need to eat more Proteins bc im eating under my 70grams i get full quickly and i can only eat chicken or fish, bc the other meats are too hard for me. It hurts when it goes down so i tried to avoid them. I dont know what im doing wrong, also my hair started falling like crazy and for some reasons im having bad body odor (armpits...tmi) which it never happened to me since i was 12 So idk what to do next? What am i doing wrong? Im getting so discouraged like this is it?

Actually, Japan is like that too. I just read an article that says Japanese are the worst for taking any kind of paid vacation - less than 50% of what they are owed (which is about 2 weeks). Even school teachers don't get much holiday time, since they are often involved with sports and other club activities throughout the summer, plus PD. Luckily, I work at a private university, so I don't have to worry about things like that.

Really? So Japan isn't all great in that area either huh? Well, you enjoy your private institution then! If my work ends up becoming too stressful for me in any way, I will be leaving. So far, it's not. I'm a one man show these days with the bosses showing up occasionally. So it's good. But my husband carries all the weight anyway, I work to stay busy. :) Do you plan to stay in Japan indefinitely?

I'm not sure - probably (even though my Japanese is terrible). There's not much in terms of full-time work back home for teachers like me (all short-term (4 month) contracts). As long as I can keep getting long-term contracts with lots of vacation time, then I'll probably stay.

  7. Ugh... 3  week stall.  I have decided to wait until Sunday to weigh myself again.

  8. Ughhh doing soo good first 2 weeks 26 lbs down this week my third week 1 lb whole week, still eating and walking same as b4 soooo frustrated Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  9. Being a high school teacher and a football coach I thought that I had a system that would work right through any potential of a stall. Work harder = better results. Well, I'm in the middle of 3 weeks post op and I have not lost anything the last 4 days. Even gained .2 during the stall. Added more Water and Protein (still in the liquid stage) and have been increasing walking times. There are probably a 1000+ posts talking about the 3 week stall and how it happens to 98% of us. SO.... here I am dealing with a stall. But the strangest thing happened this morning, pants that did not fit at the start of the week are now almost too loose! Not losing weight during the stall, but losing inches.......just like what all the vets said.
  10. Hello 3 week stall.....ugh!

    3 week stall?

I have heard of three week stall but I am coming up on two weeks and havnt lost anything so it scares me to stall in 3rd week. I have lost zero since coming home from hospital. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. Started liquids 9/4, sleeved 9/19. Lost 14 pre-op, 6 post-op, but scale hasn't budged. Is this the stall I hear about? I'm not freaking out or upset, just mind blown to stall one week post-op!
  15. I'm at 3 weeks and 2 days. I've lost 17 lbs in those 3 weeks, consistently losing around a lb a day. However the last 3 days I've stayed the same and even went up a pound. I've read of this 3 week stall and am terrified that my body is gonna stop losing weight. I'm gaining confidence by the day but would hate to stay like this. I know this forum is flooded with people needing reassurance but dang. I'm frustrated already. Ps, I finally feel normal post op-no pain and energy is back. Yay!! 16. So, I hit my 3-week stall on Wednesday, and now it's Sunday. My stall has already vanished and I've lost an extra FOUR pounds since yesterday. Is this even normal? Yesterday, I did eat a TON of Protein. I mean, I ate so much that I thought I screwed up my diet. I ate like 5 pieces of beef tataki and 5 pieces of crab sticks. This is a lot to me considering it made me feel extremely full. I'm hoping my scale isn't wrong. I got on it 3 times and it keeps saying the same thing (229), and yesterday I weighed 232. It's my 4th day of PMSing so maybe the Water I was retaining has shed off of me, and I also had my first bowel movement yesterday since 3 days ago, (sorry TMI). Am I getting my hopes up? Or is this even possible?
  17. My stall began on Wednesday, and my 3 weeks was on Thursday. So it was right on the money, lol. I'm fine with the stall since I was expecting it. I've been going from 234 to 232 for days now. How long does it usually last for most people? If you had the stall, once it went away, did you go back to losing weight rapidly? I want to start losing weight rapidly again, and I'm worried that it will be slower after the stall goes away.
  18. Has anyone hit a week three stall?? I thought i read about it somewhere.

you need to be without weight loss for at LEAST 3 weeks before its and official stall!! - kathy

  20. So when I had my sleeve done 6/8, I recall asking the nutritionist if I'd be able to eat regular food for our family's annual 4th of July trip to Vegas. She assured me I would. So flash forward to last Wednesday, my 3 week surgiversary and the day before our trip. I'd heard about 3-week stalls and I was a little apprehensive, but I was 39 pounds down and feeling confident. This weekend I had only one Protein drink. I ate pretty much what I wanted to, including a frozen lemonade and a slice of key lime pie. I had oysters and fish and ribs and chicken and even a little potato puree and some grits with my redfish at Emeril's. I had a Philly cheesesteak slider, but I did not eat at Craftsteak, which didn't disappoint me anywhere near as much as I'd expected. I even had a pretzel dog in the airport when our flight was delayed. No other way to say it...I overate and I was waaay off my diet plan. A couple of times to the point of feeling uncomfortably full, and once to the point of throwing up. Also, since I know it's a topic here, I should mention alcohol. I tried two adult beverages, and neither of them sat well. Both were, in fact, unfinished. I'm not normally a drinker, but when it's 106 degrees outside and you're at the pool paying $15 for a frozen lemonade, virgin or not, you figure you want your money's worth. I definitely got more bang for the buck from the virgin drinks. After all that I came home and I'd gained 0.6 pounds. I'm about to go to the deli across the street from my office and get a scrambled egg with cheese. Time to get back on track and over my totally self-induced 3-week stall. Truth is, I'm looking forward to it, but I also know I've got to learn to eat healthy even in social and vacation settings or I'm not going to feel my best. That's going to be a struggle for me, because I've always linked so many happy memories to food. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. So I keep hearing people mention the dreaded "3 week stall." I think I am there. I am only almost 2 weeks post-op, but I'm almost 4 weeks since I started my pre-op diet. Since my pre-op diet started and after surgery I had been consistently losing a lb a day (except when I gained weight from the iv and gas after surgery and quickly lost it plus more). The last few days I have not lost anything. Maybe I'm just being overly analytical, but it sure seems like I am slowing and stalling. My question is how long does the stall last? And does a big loss come after it? Is there anything I can do to jump start the process? Thanks for your help! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Ok, question for all you preops and maybe newly sleeved folks....Have ANY of your surgeons or nuts explained to you that you will gain a bunch of weight while you are in the hospital for your surgery? In general, this is from the IV fluids they give you and from all the inflammation and swelling caused by the surgery itself. And have any of you been told that you will likely have a stall at about 3 weeks postop? Did they explain stalls to you at all? The reason I ask is because over half the posts from newbies are about these two subjects. (Those and the ones asking if it's OK that they just ate a cookie or a slice of pizza 2 weeks postop cause their mean family doesn't support them by keeping these things out of the house) Everyone that spends more than an hour on any WLS forum knows about these things. I just don't understand why surgeons aren't preparing their patients for the normal post surgical things that tend to send so many into such a panic. Just curious if anyone is actually being given any helpful instructions prior to WLS, or are you just left to fend for yourself on the Internet?

Happened to me at just 2 weeks out. Nothing to fret over, your body is just readjusting. I noticed a big drop in the tape measure during that first stall, so try paying more attention to that than the scale :)
