  3. Have you thought about drinking the protein drinks twice a day to prepare yourself for the band? My surgeon suggested I do that and you will lose weight doing it too.

  4. Hi, AmberK.

Just wanted to say good luck with your surgery this week. We'll be thinking of you! I also wanted to congratulate you on the 14 pounds you've already lost that's 10% of your weight goal!!

Stay strong - you can totally do this!

    ~jen

  5. Remember it's not about the weight loss it's about changes for a better healthier life. Focus on that and the rest will happen.

Good luck with your fill, let me know how much and how you are doing with it.

  6. It is so good to see that you have done so well with your band...I am 46 will be 47 in September and was banded on 7-12-10. I am so afraid that being older that it will be more difficult to take the weight off but I see how well you have done.... I know the I can do it too. Thanks!!!!

    Start: 233lbs

    Day of surgery: 219

    7-31-10: 207

    Goal: 135lbs

  7. Update on my progress....I have been banded for a little over a year now. I am very pleased with my weight loss...still have a long way to go, but I'm getting there! When I began my journey I weighed 337 lbs. My current weight is 233 lbs. Unfortunately, 233 lbs. would still be considered a "BEFORE" weight! haha! So...I will continue my long journey. My oldest son got engaged this summer, and we will be having a wedding next summer! So, I have about 11 months to try to get some more weight off and try to look as good as possible before the wedding! Wish me luck!

  8. I had mine April 29, 2010. You are doing very well. I have lost 30 since then. Iget super frustrated and am very hard on my self. I mean I can really tell in my clothes a lot. So I guess that counts also. But I would rally like to see the number and the scale change faster. i gues I should just be happy that if I keep up all my hard work the weight will for sure be off by next April.

  9. i wish i could...but i haven't always lost my weight the healthy way...however u do it will b the rite way....:-)

  10. Hi Dena- I was banded on 6/29. I get my first fill on 8/11 and I can't wait. This bandster hell is killing me. I feel like I could eat a house! Congrats on your weight loss! I'm still down about 14lbs now, but I keep thinking it should be a lot more. Oh well. GL!

  11. Hello there Ms Venegirl1. I been doing okay I guess!! A lot has been going on… in the brain!! Aug 14th will be exactly 1 year that my little sister has passed away, so just kind of been down and out not really wanting to do much of anything (like exercising) so my weight loss has slowed down. I am currently down 27 pounds in total and I been stuck at that for like a month!!!

I have to just get it together so I can start to lose weight again!!

32 pounds WOW that is awesome good for you!!! Keep up the good work!!

  12. OK...the TT in 2007...It was easily the hardest in terms of recovery, because the abdominal muscles are involved. I had a lower body lift last summer, and that one is supposed to be the roughest, but it wasn't, in my opinion. The summer in between (2008) I had a breast lift. With all of these surgeries was miscellaneous liposuction, except with my TT when he also did a scar revision for something unrelated to my weight loss. A few weeks ago I had an arm lift (shorter scar) and a revision to the medial thigh lift from last year. I'm still pretty swollen from that, and the arm lift is not a pleasant surgery for recovery. The scars are ugly right now and my arms look thinner but they are nowhere near their end result. Same with the thighs. I go through this every time...I have a post from the past on the Dr. Schulman thread on this site where you can see my anxiety!! More to come...

  13. Can you give me some tips on what you are doing to lose the weight.

  14. I have been approved and just need to lose 10 more pounds to get the surgery scheduled. I have just been told a lot about the sleeve and people are saying it is better. I am thinking the band will work better for me and have been set on it since the start. I guess I just worry that something bad will happen to me..but I need the band. I need help to lose this weight and sooner then later.

Thank you so much for your time and help :)

  15. yeah- I definitely notice that after I workout I'm tighter-- same sensation as in the mornings. Last night I went to the gym, and noticed it right away.

I will look into the toning classes. They offer a "bootcamp" thing here, but I'm not sure what it consists of. I do think I need to try something new, because at times my weight loss is stalling. I added weight machines after my cardio, and that seemed to help, but I still think I need to shake it up a bit.

  16. My secret is I eat alot of chicken and fish. I measure everything. I'm not a fanatic in exercise but I try to walk at least 4-5 times a week. Anywhere from 3-5 miles. I use my Wii Fit at home. And I made up my mind that I am going to do this. I think the biggest secret is not to give into head hunger. Plus I reward myself once and awhile. This isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change. Diets have always failed me. But once I started losing the weight and seeing the great results, it was just a matter of keeping myself going. And it helps to have good support.

  17. Hi, Do not get depressed. You can make the choice to change your life once and for all. It is a process. I resisted the process for over a year before I got banded. My sister had the GBP and has gain weight back. Then once I made my mind up, I never wanted to wear FAT CLOTHES again I was a size 24 Plus. I went thru the process I was banded almost one year ago. I can't tell you how fast this year has gone and how much better my life is today. I skied this winter and I now wear a size 12p cuz I am short. I have become a shop a holic. My husband says You go girl this is your reward to yourself you earned it. Lets be friends and we can chat about your progress. I was born July 18, 1956 so we are close in age. I feel like I am 18 again no kidding. I ride a bike, dance, swim, ski, Blog and I always have something to wear now. I love to go places. Best wishes and I hope to hear from you again. 18. The 27 pounds is from when I started my 3 month diet! I have lost 11 pounds in 1 week tho! I wish I didnt gain 6 pounds during my last week of "last meal syndrome" I would be down 6 more pounds! lol Your doing great!

  19. It seems we're in the very same (and hungry) boat. I also gain 1lb this weekend and will be exercising this afternoon. Glad to be in such good company :)

  20. It sure is a hard decision but I know from having it done once that I should have learned from my mistakes. Like the saying goes it's a TOOL to help you lose weight.

  21. Hi Judy,

Glad to see i'm not the only one going for this a t a late age i will be 61 in Janurary and am hoping i am doing the right thing I just know my bones ache from the weight and the colestral medicine isn't working any more its screwing up my liver a long with the cpap machine that wakes me sometimes at night.healthy1

  22. thankyou all for the messages sorry i had'nt got back to you all but i wasnt happy with my wieght loss because it had been almost 2 years and i wasnt loosing anymore weight in fact i was gaining it was my fault really because i got busy doing other things focusng on my business that i neglected the band so i wasnt getting fills but now thank God im back on track now i ve been loosing wieght since january and so far lost over 4 stone i currently weigh in at 14st 10lb i will not neglect my band again lol

  23. I will be posting more this summer on a blog and on here, this is the greatest encouragement I have found! After surgery walk, walk, walk, do as your Dr.'s instruct and you will do fine, totally serious it seems like one day I was huge and then I wasn't, i did not loose any weight for 4 months and still went down 3 pants sizes, the only exercise I do is walk 30-45 min. a day 4-5 times a week, high protien diet at least 75 grams prot. a day.

  24. Splatt

Hi Sue, well put 3lbs on after having to swop a hol from Vegas to Devon then hand a bombshell. Ray has left to be with his wife, they think her cancer is back and it could be terminal so he wants to do the right thing. He wouldn't have left if she hadn't been ill. So I lost the 3lbs then 3lbs more - so this was the answer to a lap band! Anyway trying to get myself together but it is difficult at moment, hopefully the weight will come off and I can have a fresh start. Having my 2nd fill on 13th fingers crossed I am nearer to that sweet spot.

How are you doing, take care, Susan x

  25. Hi Pam! well for me i had a goal in my head. i knew where i wanted to be and i kept telling myself that i didnt go through all of this for nothing. we all have struggles as i am having right now myself but i still keep thinking about my goal. i dont want to feel like a failure. i have not been exercising like i should either and i have hit a plateau but you cant give up. i have not given up on my band because i would not be where i am today without it. so dont get comfortable with it you have to find a way to make it work for you. stay on this site looking at before and after pics...that's one thing that ALWAYS motivates me. get your mind set that you are going to do what you know you should be doing to lose the weight.
