Ok I have to admit I have not been adding up my calories so I just went and did it, Today I had 550 calories and I would say that pretty much represents my days. For Breakfast Protein shake: 110 Snack greek yogurt with berries 145 lunch 3 turkey meat balls and some green Beans 150 A bite of a bagel (not typical) 35 calories dinner 2 Asian spring rolls (trader joes) 100 calories Each meal I could not get any more food in, so now I am am making myself have some apple with almond butter. How do I get more calories in if I am full??? I frustrated because I am in a stall and I am sure it is from starvation mode. I excerise 30 minutes in the morning doing step aerobics on the Wii.

Hey all. I'm 7 days post op with directions to drink only 1 once every 20min. At first this was fine however now I'm so thirsty I'm drinking more than what the Dr. recommended. what's the norm for 7days out. I'm still on clear liquids and for the next 7days can only add jello and yogurt.

Hi I just had my EGD with balloon dilatation last Wednesday. I was having the same exact symptoms along with severe exhaustion. I was only getting about 350 calories a day. My sleeve and esophagus was very narrow in a few places. My surgeon has recommended that I eat 5-7 meals a day. Even after the dilatation I can only eat 2-3 oz of food at best which is why he wanted me to eat more often. I am on solids now but that is even more difficult. I've realized I do much better with foods like yogurt and the inside of a potato. I have also been doing what TES recommened when I start to get extremely dizzy I try to eat half a protein bar, drink half an ensure, handful of almonds, or a light mini babel cheese. It usually helps. I know what you mean about work I just went back and it is awful! I am a nurse in an ICU and it kills me. Luckily I have amazing co workers who are really helping me through by helping me with patient care and recognizing when I am feeling like crap. The one thing I am disappointed about is lack of exercise. I can walk and thats about it and a slow walk at that. When I start to pick up pace and sweat (like I should) I get nauseous and dizzy. Then I have to stop and wait for it to pass and then I don't even want to continue. I believe I am having a slower weight loss because I cannot exercise at my full potential yet. Really hoping this will eventually get better.

My preference is making my own using Syntrax Nectur w/ yogurt and/or frozen fruit & Silk milk. I keep Premier Protein shakes in my refrigerator so if I'm in a hurry I can just grab one & go. I order Premier Protein from their website. You can get a pack of 18 which you can't get from Costco. I get my Syntrax Nectur from Amazon or The Vitamin Shoppe.

My program says 2oz of yogurt, oatmeal or cream of wheat, 4oz of soups. And I think for puree it's similar mostly 2oz portions and some up to 4oz but I can't recall the specifics and don't have my book on hand. I know in general they don't want us to exceed 6oz at a meal. And its ounces by volume not weight.

Can I still lose this weight? How long approx?
LetsDoThisAgain posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! (Month before shakes 354, pre surgery 309, current weight is 254) So last few days I’ve been doing 400-800 calories, 60+ protein and 40 or less carbs and my full 8 glasses of water a day, I’ve lost 10 pounds in 5 days, which is awesome because I’ve been stalled for a bit, I was 309 prior to surgery and now I’m 354, I wanna get down to 199. I’m 8 months out of surgery, is it possible to lose it by June? I just feel like it’s not gonna come off how it should now because I’ve stalled and haven’t lost as much as I should. I’m just scared and worried it won’t be off before summer because that’s my goal. I’m doing chicken, fish, meat for protein, veggies (made cabbage soup too), cheese, and yogurt (no sugar and I add stevia) i just still feel discouraged. I’m 24 if that also helps. Will the weight still come off quick even though I’m 8 months out? -
what is wrong with me!
JennaVictoria replied to sandi1011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Sandi, we share the same surgery date!! I can feel your frustration. I have not seen the scale move in about 6 days and I feel like kicking it to the curb! :scared2: But, let me make 2 suggestions that both of us need to get real commited to, real fast: Water and EXERCISE. Starting yesterday, I carry a large aluminum water bottle with me and I sip, sip, sip all day and refill it 3 x. The funny thing -- I must be dehydrated because I don't have to run for the ladies room like I did before surgery if I drank a lot of H20. Water will help metabolize fat. It is very important so I will say it again. Water helps metabolize fat. So please if you think you are drinking a lot of water, think again and drink more! This also helps with the between meal cravings. Even if you are sitting in your living room, start moving! There are some great DVDs like Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds -- you literally stand in front of the TV and walk in place. She has 1, 2 and 3 mile videos. She makes it fun and you see results. I go to the gym, I just started going 3x a week on the treadmill for 30 mins. (until Dr. gives me clearance for weight training and elliptical). Yeah, I know, exercise suxs! But these first few months post surgery are our "golden months" when the weight loss will be accellerated and I want to make the most of them. As far as eating, I recommend greek yogurt. It has 13 grams of Protein in each container. I also eat fish - lots of it -- not the canned/prepacked variety but cooking up in microwave and eating flounder, salmon, cod etc. with some Mrs. Dash sprinkled on top. I stay away from red meat (even hamburger) and basically fill my pouch with protein (I don't eat much carb or fruit/veggies). Other good sources can be found in your "whole foods" type stores. There are vegetarian products (meat replacement) which offer gobs of protein and no fat. I eat a textured vegetable protein Breakfast sausage (no meat at all) which is like 80 cals and zero fat and 11grams of protein. I also recommend checking out the vegetarian protein sources at our local foodstore. Mine are in the refrigerated section near the produce aisle. They have things like cheese slices, zero fat, more protein and not made dairy but vegetarian stuff. Feel free to email me thru the site if you want a bandster partner! jenna -
3 Day Post-Op Having Major Trouble Drinking All Of My Protein In.

Please note that my suggestion on mixing Matrix protein with yogurt is for full liquid phase and not clear liquid, so depending on your doc's schedule, you may have to wait a few days. -
what do I do with unflavored protien powder?
Oregondaisy replied to vicki s's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Stevia in my plain Greek yogurt and mix in blueberries and it's delicious. As far as the unflavored Protein powder, I mixed it in sf gatoraide, sf poweradie, sf Hawaiian punch, and Crystal lite. -
Last fill was 4.5 total ccs and so far it's amazing. This morning I took a while to eat yogurt and I didn't eat most of the fresh blueberries I storred in with it. I wasn't hungry all day although I knew I should eat, but I was out shopping and running errands. I came home and had a chicken lean cusine...well I couldn't finish it-seriously-couldn'tfinish a lean cusiene? That's insane!! I ate most of the chicken, but couldn't finish the apples. Hopefully, I'll be able to eat a little more on the cruise (but not over do it). I would love to stay at this level for a while, but I am not sure how long it will last!

I was looking today for a quick and easy way to get more Fiber in my diet without a lot of calories, or a lot of cooking. I took 1/2 cup of canned black Beans (no fat added), added a few tablespoons of salsa and a few tablespoons of greek yogurt (or could use FF sour cream), stirred it up and ate it cold. Would be good heated, too. Came out to about 150 calories, 13 gm Protein, 8 gm dietary fiber and 1 gm fat. And it was delicious, and very filling! Thought someone else might be interested in this tip! The average US diet gets less than half of the recommended fiber, and we all know that our band diet tends to get even less than that...and all the problems that causes. LOL.

Cottage Cheese Vs. Yogurt For Pre Op Diet

actually the low fat cottage cheese is high and protien, compared to the yogurt. It is on my diet I can have 1 cup with unsweetened applesauce on it, it is the highlight of my day! -

Thanks! Yogurt is actually something I CAN do without issues! Soup too! So frustrated with the meat issues....just forms a slimy coating around it and all comes right back up. -
Does everyone meet their protein goal every day?
Graciesmom04 replied to downsizingdiva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Okay, this morning I did the protein shake, with milk, yogurt and my Injury powder. Got 1/4 of the way done and my IBS hit me out of the blue. I haven't had an issue like that since having surgery. I can do each of these things separately with no issues, but am assuming it's the combination of everything together that my body rejects. -
Feeling pretty miserable
Soulshine76 replied to cda97's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I start mushy foods in a couple of days, but I've been allowed to start incorporating some over the weekend. I really like the V8 Fusions. I drink a can every morning. I also found some fat free yogurt that is apple turnover flavored and de-lish. My nutritionist has allowed me to put tuna and chicken salad in my Ninja and purée it to pudding like texture. I put a little relish in it first. I also put potato salad in my ninja. I add a little more milk to it, but it's nice to get more flavor than just plain mashed potatoes. My favorite meal that I started this weekend and NUT approved is one Vienna sausage smushed up with a little mustard on it and a Laughing Cow cheese. That cheese is awesome, I make it last forever and it turns into a paste in your mouth. I also like the cinnamon cream of wheat in the mornings. Oh, and I started having a scrambled egg. I can only eat half of it, but it really fills me up. I have been walking/jogging on my treadmill for 40 mins everyday and I typically have one of the more filling selections after I have exercised. I still eat my Soups, applesauces, Jello, etc. I'm just not obsessing (and dreaming!) about food like I was last week. My cravings have changed and I'm not starving all the time. I think my body has finally accepted this new way of eating. -
Anyone been sleeved with rheumatoid arthritis
lsereno replied to LadyKatie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't tried altering how I eat. I have seen some reports, but I'm already pretty low carb and eat very little gluten. Going vegetarian would be a strain for me. I really rely on the solid Protein to fill me up and keep me full. And def not vegan. I love my greek yogurt. Lynda -
Nothing much to report back on solids again, had a chobani for b/fast with some granola (1 T) and yogurt covered raisins (1 T), was feeling fine until an hour before I could eat again and my stomach is growling, I know that's not "real" hunger but it's annoying. Wooo talking about "real" hunger, um let's see what have I learned this week: headaches and fatigue for me = hunger. On Tuesday, I had a huge headache, I was still on liquids per mds orders so I thought "well maybe I'm hungry" made myself a protein shake and sure enough voila! Problem solved! Yesterday, I was so tired that I ordered a cup of coffee (something I don't usually do after 4pm) and a packet of veggie cream cheese (since I was still on mushies) at D & D and I don't know if it was the coffee or the cream cheese, but once I got home, I was ready to go kick some @$$ at the gym! So, I think I figured when my stomach is growling, that's just my body being pissed off. When I have headaches or am about to fall asleep standing up, that's hunger. Also I ordered a Keurig for my office, I really do think I need a pep in my step in the afternoon. It's 1:30pm here and I'm yawning! Have a good weekend! I'll be back on Monday!!!

3-6 month out eating questiom?
FLORIDAYS replied to SWChitown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All drs seem to have different criteria they follow but it's basically the same for the most part...I will answer your question based on my experience. You will want to check with your dr before deviating from his rules. I had to give up carbonation..the is my drs #1 rule. No food is off limits once On solids but my band isn't fond of rice or thick pasta. First month Week one clear liquids Week two creamy liquids Week three mushies....like yogurt, hummus, mashed veggies, mashed potatoes, oatmeal...anything blended to the consistency of baby food Once on solids at week 4 I started eating the way I did throughout my journey. 1000 calories each day with portion controls being paramount. I ate three meals a day of 3 oz protien, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 starch. I was allowed 2 snacks of fruit or a sugar free treet or something salty like 10 small pretzel sticks -
nauseous all the time
kedwards1950 replied to new start2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Almost 4 weeks post op and the Protein shakes make me extremely nauseated although I still try to get them down, or part of them. When I take my nausea meds the nausea lessens and I am able to get other protein down. Greek yogurt and cottage cheese are my this week's friends. Right now having "buyer's remorse" and wish I never had the bypass as I have no energy like I did before the bypass. Is it too soon to expect to feel better, I am down 42lbs but feel horrible. Need suggestions. -
Help! Some problems after surgery
EileenTesta replied to michiganer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor did explain the gas pains, but it's still nice to hear that I'm not the only one. I had surgery last monday 12/3/07. I'm really not enjoying the shakes - any suggestions? I've tried mixing them with yogurt and milk and ice, etc.. and even a little fat free chocolate syrup, but they really don't taste great. It's hard getting down 40grm of protein daily. P.S. I -
Here i go again...am i pigging out?
bbjerseygirl replied to justicenyce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your recent surgery. It is completely normal to feel hungry and want to "pig" out at this stage. Your stomach is healing and is not as swollen as it was in the beginning. Remember, you are in the beginning stages which are about healing the stomach and ensuring band placement. You have yet to get a fill and be restricted. You felt restricted before cause of the swelling and irritation to the stomach due to the surgery. Even though I don't think what you ate is considered pigging out - you must be careful not to overeat and expand your pouch at this point. You need the first 6 weeks to allow the stomach to heal and allow the band's placement site to heal too. Overeating can stretch the pouch and cause less restriction for you later on. If I recall correctly, you should be eating 2-4 oz per meal - try your hardest to stick to that. If you continued to feel hungry - wait as long as you can and then eat something like a sugar free jello, yogurt, a full liquid so it will go thru the band and not stretch it. Don't worry - you aren't alone in this stage. It is hard and you are doing fine. Do your best, that's all we can do. Good luck.:mad2: -
Name is Lorraine....I got to my highest weight @ 290. Decided if I didn't do something quick I wouldn't see my kids grow up. I was banded on Aug 4th 2011. I have never been more nervous about anything in my life, but the surgeon and staff were amazing. I didn't feel a thing. I felt it all afterwards. I really had no pain anywhere else but the bottom incision, where the port is. That one hurts like a sucker. Then the incision on the side started to bleed a little. It's the one that has the most bruising, but doesn't hurt much. I did my 48 hours of Clear liquids...if I taste another cup of broth I will vomit... Jello is also starting to lose it's goodness...Well I started on the liquids. I've been drinking Protein drinks, yogurt and applesauce....all fat free of course. Feeling a little bit more hungry today. I just keep drinking fluids and hope this day passes quickly. I get to start "mushies" on the 12th. Looking forward to a change. If anyone has any advice about the hunger or about the bleeding incision please let me know.

1200 calories 6 months out
JamieLogical replied to mercy96's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear you on the not trusting yourself! I carefully weight out 13 grams of kashi go lean Cereal into a small plastic container and I bring that with me to work to mix in with my yogurt. I know if I kept the whole bag here at work and just "eyeballed" how much to add to the yogurt, it would slowly creep up to an unreasonable amount! Edit: Of course I only do that on my workout days. No cereal/granola on my rest days!
