    Tmi post

Am I suppose to have diarrhea and nausea every day. Is this normal? How long will this last? I'm 4 weeks post op and very miserable. I feel so sickly all the time. Sent from my SCH-I605 using the BariatricPal App
  2. Hi All- I was sleeved on February 15, and I am STRUGGLING getting liquids down. I am curious, did anyone else have issues with this? How much were you getting down 3-4 days after surgery? I am afraid I am starting to get dehydrated (just from the color of my urine (TMI, I know). I am allergic to the pain medicine so I can't take any of that, and the antibiotics gave me thrush. So the horrible taste in my mouth is just too much...I don't want to put anything in my mouth. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank-you.

    Gas after protein shakes?

LUCKY YOU!! That protein drink sends me right to the bathroom. It's like a diuretic...sorry TMI!! Yogurt goes down pretty easy but anything dairy sets my tummy on fire so be careful!
  4. Today it has been exactly four months and nine days since my Sleeve on June 5, 2013. I have lost 88 lbs., 12 Pants Sizes, 2 Shirt Sizes, 1 full Shoe Size and 14 pills! I am so very happy I made this decision. I am amazed at the transformation not just of my body but of the abilities I now have and the goals I have reached. BS (Before Sleeve) I was using a walker to do any walking at all. I could not shower without a shower chair, I could not go shopping in stores without automatic carts, I only left my house to go to the Dr. I could not stand up long enough to cook meals anymore, I had a full time caretaker, I could not clean or do laundry, I didn't drive unless I had too, I could not hold my Grandson because I had no lap, I would not have sexual relations with my husband because it was too un-comfortable and I felt to ugly, I didn't ever have the desire to go visit people, I could not go to parties or out with my friends to socialize at all. I stayed home and moped and honestly just waited for death to come and get me. AS (After Sleeve) I now go to the Mall with my daughter, I go out to lunch with friends, on dates with hubby, I shop, I cook, I clean, I even am working an area for a garden next year. I no longer need a caregiver and was just released from the program yesterday. I no long use a walker or automatic carts, or a shower chair! I only take 3 medications a day. I love to go visit and go to thrift stores and play with and hold my Grandson! I have sex on a semi-regular basis. (I know TMI) The point is... If you are thinking of having this surgery, Stop Thinking!!!! & Start doing!!! It took me over 2 1/2 years to get approval so get on it now and then do your thinking while you are in the process. You can always opt out later. I would never take it back, because honestly I never thought I would be a real person again and I had all but given up on life. I am however, a whole person again, a real person, with a real life, and real friends. I am even considering finally going back to work after six years of disability. I hope this helps anyone in making up their minds and I hope it inspires everyone who reads it. Blessings to all, Candie Before Day of Surgery Day after Surgery Yesterday

Need support to get through pre-op diet!!

I am on day 5 of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet. i have not been struggling as much as i thought i would be. the worst thing for me has been ...ummm, er..tmi, but the bathroom visits. i literally can't be more than 5 feet away from one. i try to finish all of my liquids by 8pm so i can at least get a decent nights sleep (without having to go to the bathroom every 30 minutes) make sure you are getting plenty of other fluids, that seems to also help with the full factor. i know by the end of the day it has been a struggle to get that last protein shake down because i just don't want it. i am supposed to have about 1,000 calories a day, but i am hovering around 950, which i think is probably acceptable. as of this morning, i have lost 11 pounds.....

    December sleevers!

I bought a few smaller summer dresses last summer at yard sales, we are talking dirt cheap so if they are too big/small they wont be a loss. I have been doing the 6 month doc visits so i new my appt was going to be Nov or Dec so i put myself on a NO clothes shopping rule. Dont know where you live Cutie 11 but most consignment stores LOVE getting plus size clothes. They rarely get any good stuff is what one lady told me. The thing with plus size clothes is people usually wear them out, cause it is so hard to find nice clothes that FIT. I have a lot of lingerie from Fredricks and LB (TMI?) that i am hoping i can sell on Ebay or Craigslist, so i can shop at Vickies Secret (YAY) So if your worried about all the $$$ for new clothes try that!. I already have some ironed creased and in a garment bag ready to go!!

    Normal?

Ladies this is a little tmi but is it normal to get a period 3 days after surgery? I haven't gotten a heavy period in about 2 months now. It started Monday just spotting but yesterday and today it's super heavy. Help!? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Ain't that the truth! And for some of my own You don't need to push the car seat all the way back to get in and out of your car. You don't rush to the bedroom to change into sweats after work, normal clothes are comfortable "You want fries with that?" is answered with a resounding 'NO" Punching new holes in your belt is a weekly ritual "Who the hecks hand is that?", then you realize it's YOURS, only skinnier than you remember. Your belly and back don't rub on the shower door when entering and exiting And it maybe TMI but: When you wipe you actually wipe all the way up to the 'exit portal'

    Greasy Hair....

I get 80+ grams of protein a day so I hope I don't need more. But I've noticed other changes too. My face is clearing up and skin tone is evening out so that is a good thing. My breath is awful. I've had a constant TOM for 2 weeks now. Sorry if tmi. But I guess I didn't realize all of the changes my body is going through 7 1/2 weeks out.

    Insurance

Got word today that I'm APPROVED! So it's a go...May 27th here I come. Today is the official start of my pre op diet although I gave it a test run the last two days. Things went ok other than (sorry tmi) my menstrual cycle starting! Ugh lol!
  11. I was sleeved August 5. Transitioned to "regular" foods yesterday. I'm a little nervous about introducing fruits and veggies, but really want to try (I miss them!) Especially salad! I'm going slow, reintroducing one "new" food at a time. Okay, what follows is TMI, so skip it if you're squeamish! Yesterday, I had my first bad digestive experience since the first week after surgery (I had a lot of nausea and constipation for the first 6 days, then nausea and diarrhea for a few days after that. Since then, I have stabilized.) Anyway, yesterday I ate some peanuts, which I chewed really, really well. A couple of hours later I had urgent diarrhea. Thank goodness I was at home! So, no more nuts for a while. (I LOVE nuts, and for a vegetarian like me they've been a great source of Protein over the years. Waahhhh!) I also have a weird pain right under my left ribs -- much higher up and several inches to the left of my biggest incision -- It feels like I'm bruised inside, and this didn't start until 3 weeks in. Anybody else have this?

    Gas pain

I am post op 6 day and I am just now feeling better. It was awful. I did not get any relief until I took some MOM. For some reason, I could not fart. I know TMI but I just want you to know I totally understand what you are going through right now. Today is the 1st day I have truly felt better. Hang in there....
  13. Omg I was sleeved June 7 2016 so 3.5 months ago and I have a cold for the first time. It's so fricking gross, I don't really feel like eating cause all I'm doing all day is swallowing snot. Sorry if this is TMI, but no one will understand like you guys HW 140kg or 308lbs SE 132.5kg or 292lbs CW 104kg or 229lbs

    Sex?!?!?!?! Omg Someone Help Me?!

I hear ya!! It sucks being single and having all this "stuff" going on. Atleast there is my battery operated friend TMI lol
  15. My pre-op weight on 1/10 (prior to liquid fast) was 233. Date of surgery weight (1/18) was 225. Post-op appointment weight on 1/24 was 219, for a total of 14 pounds down (YAY!). Fast forward to today, almost 2 weeks out... NO LOSS AT ALL. I've been getting in my Protein and liquids, and even exercising (and feeling great doing it), but that damn scale won't budge. I suppose I have another addiction to add to my list: scale addiction. A bit TMI, but I really have only had 2 "good" BM's since surgery. That could be the problem, too. Trying the Dulcolax he prescribed, but that doesn't seem to be working. Any other slow losers there that can give me words of encouragement? Or, am I just being impatient? LOL

    NJ September 2008 Chat

HI everyone--like the others I am not even going to attempt yet to keep everyone straight----I am getting old....give me some time!!! Well our rally was WET!!!! It rained hard! But we made the best of it, and the company was good, so we had fun. I know exactly about showing too much flesh Sherry!!! Oh my, there is always something at the rallies that makes my eyebrows go up!!! So I spent all weekend, with stomach issues continuing. Sometimes I would eat and it would stay down for a little while, other times it was like swallowing onto a trampoline, up it come! Then yesterday----I tossed the first half of my Breakfast, and to be honest I lied to Rick about it, so he would not worry, so I had to eat some to keep up appearances----and it stayed down! After the ride home it was feeling kind of queasy---I sipped some 7-Up and all was fine. I ate about 1/3 of a burger last night, about 3 fries, and another 7-Up. It stayed down with no issue at all! No discomfort---nothing! Then about 1:30 this morning, I had to hit the bathroom, and run back and forth all night long! Sorry I know that is a little TMI----but I am wondering if the virus is slowly working its way through or what??? I have drank today without issue, and snacked as well and all remains comfortably down. Rick said he sees a correlation between my PS swelling and my inability to keep things down. The muscle that swells so badly still does sit directly on top of my band..... So I am going to play it by ear (er stomach) and see how the week goes. I do not want to travel 6 hours to my Dr. cause my swelling to increase due to travel--get the swallow and find nothing passing and lose my band! When eventually this swelling will quit! I am going to be very abservant and see how it goes. I will be honest with myself and you guys and not let things get too bad---my DH will not let that happen!!! He is an old mother hen when it comes to health anyway!!! Betty hope you are healing up!!! I think about you!! I had never heard of taking the sips from a spoon! I was told the clear caffeine free drinks like 7-Up or Sprite will absorb through the stomach lining, without requiring digestion, faster than even Water. So I always put it over ice, which dilutes the carbonation....and it was like a miracle cure! Well I have to run to the store before I can complete supper----so better get a move on! Thanks for the well wishes, and it is good to see so many new faces!!! Give us a chance and we will get it together and remember who is who!!! LOL Kat
  18. Thanks guys! It has definitely gotten easier every day and surgery is in 2 days ????! This is way too tmi but did anyone have issues with the liquid diet when it came to using the restroom? I'm embarrassed to say that I've had to toss a few pairs of pajama bottoms this week due to a cough that was more than just a cough.

    Let’s talk poop strategy

The same here. All my doctor said was it was too common do not worry. This next part is TMI (sorry but honest) I did have to get the intima and suppositories'. It did not work all that well but enough I could get in the bath (yea I know Gross) but when you are hurting and desperate you do desperate things. So long story short when I finally got the hard rocks out and I mean hard! I take a stool softener and Miralax twice a day with my protein shakes. The Miralax only worked on the new digestion and same with the stool softener I had to get the hard rocks out to clear the path. Once that happen and I started taking Miralax it has been so much better. Sorry for the candidness but I found that most people sugar coat it and that was not what I needed I needed help

    Extreme Lower Abdominal Pain

I am going through the same thing. I have been banded 2 years and lost 135 lbs. I had a painful episode in April, went to the emergency room after being in pain for 3 days. And was told nothing, must be gas. Also went to my gastro dr. he said nothing was wrong, to take Miralax everyday to make sure I am not constipated. Since I have been taking the Miralax on a regular, I have had no problems going to bathroom or passing gas. Everything I eat was coming out in about an hour (sorry tmi). On Friday, I came to work and had to be sent home in car service the pains were so bad. I had to open my pants, I looked like I was 5 months pregnant. I went to my primary dr. she sent me to the emergency room to have a Cat Scan. They found nothing. I am going to watch what I am eating also. I have been eating a lot of cottage cheese and greek yogurt for breakfast. I definitely will try going dairy free. I think I will stop eating that and see what happens. If anything has any good suggestions for us, please let us know. Good luck to you.

    Newbie Here - Hello!

Everyone is different in their recovery. For me, I was up walking the halls about 1 hour after surgery, not very far, but up and moving. I walked consistent for the first 24 hours. In fact I had the nurse get me up every 2 hours to walk. I think that helped me get rid of the pain from the gas associated with the surgery. That was, by far for me the worst pain. I went home after 2 days to stay with a family member for one night then on my own after that. In fact I drove to my home on a Friday and had my surgery on that Tuesday. I took no pain meds except for the dose they administered right after surgery. I went back to work the following Monday. It does take a lot of time though with food and lliquid consumption. Don't rush things. Focus on Water, Vitamins, then Protein when you are able to start taking in liquids. My best advise is to walk, walk, walk! As often as you can and as much as you can. It help. Also make sure you do the breathing exercises to keep your lungs clear. It is really important. Just listen to what your body is telling you and do what you are able to do. I had a really easy recover except for a battle with constipation (sorry TMI) You will do great!
  22. This gas has really been kicking my behind! I mean its the worst feeling ever but as I sat in this uncomfortable chair I noticed I couldn't stop rubbing my tummy. As I rubbed, I kept belching & farting (tmi but they don't stink lol) There's a huge sigh of relief so I would suggest everyone with gas problems to try relaxing in a recliner chair & just rub your belly with light pressure. If anyone else has any other remedies other than walking that have worked for you, please share

    My butt hurts!

The funny thing is, DH and I were just discussing this earlier. Even though I still have roughly 60 lbs to lose, my butt is bony. It's still nice and round, (TMI I know..) but them butt bones hurt... LOL

    My butt hurts!

TMI ALLERT!!! I posted somewhere else...my butt has a double chin! The fat is almost gone and the skin is still working at tightening up (I hope) and has made a (not) lovely little double chin hanging at the 'bottom'. I do glut exercises, and will continue to do so... but its not enough yet....))

    Post-Op Life

Hi Panda Where you buy those shakes? I'm drinking Bariatric Advantage w/ 8oz of skim milk so i just have to drink 12oz to make it 60grams. When did you star taking your Protein? I started at the hospital on my 2nd day, then got d/c and my surgeon told me to continue on Clear liquids but to slowly add protein to my diet. So I did today I dranked 6oz and those were pushed cuz I get full so easily, even w/water. I just passed my 1st down bellow gas sorry if is TMI but I wanted to share my journey!
