Well I did the "beet test". I didn't plan on doing such a thing It just so happens I've been on a roasted beets and Brussels sprouts kick. I had a minor freak out session when I went pee and it was red. TMI, I know but it's for a purpose. Anyway I knew it wasn't blood so I started doing some research and found my answer. I have never had this happen prior to surgery. I would remember something like that! So It's a sign of low stomach acid and other things. I posted the article below. I don't know if I should be worried or not so I will ask my NUT about it . I find it pretty interesting though so I thought I would share. It's a natural test you can actually do yourself. Our bodies are just too cool! I think I'm going to start taking some probiotics. Now, if there's a shortage of beets I will know why. You're welcome!

I did have a BM, but just diarrhea (sorry TMI). I guess it could be gas settling, but I thought since my surgery was Monday and today is Friday that would be too long for the gas to still be in there.

I am always open, even if the problem is of a more personal nature like urinary incontinence. I believe in demystifying and taking the fear out of things that people see as too personal to share, if I think it will help another. I actually got a woman convinced to have WLS when I tearfully shared with her how happy I was when I could finally wipe myself clean after using the bathroom, thanks to the weight I had lost. I had no clue she was dealing with the same issue. TMI? In my opinion there is no such thing if what you are sharing is for the benefit and education of others. Our voices have been self-stifled for way too long. Had we been more vocal, perhaps insurance companies would have been more receptive to paying for the surgeries that many of us had to finance in order to save our own lives. On another note, I think is is kind of crappy that someone I know who has lost 170 pounds has people convinced she is some kind of amazing because she only attributes her transformation to diet and mega exercise. She's even started health forums and has quite a following. The truth? Gastric bypass 11 years ago. Will I call her out on it? No. She told me in confidence (after I saw her scars by accident) and it's not in my nature to be cruel. It makes me angry and I've lost respect for her because she could be giving hope to so many who will never lose and be healthy any other way than by WLS. But, we all can only be who we are, I guess.

Did Surgery Make Your Period Come Earlier And Stronger?

Embarrassing thing happened post op
More2Love replied to Chela's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TMI - but I had my period and let's just say they gave me a blood thinner TWICE in one day. My poor sheets had to be changed because I couldn't get up fast enough to use the bathroom in time. And this is coming from someone who is so careful when it comes to bleeding through clothes. Oh, I was mortified! But 6 weeks later, i don't care! -
Lets try this again...Those who were BANDED the week of December 17th...
~Trixie~ replied to ~Trixie~'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Melinda. I have the APS band as well. I'm doing pretty well weight-loss wise: 23.5 pounds since my surgery on December 17th. I've kind of hit a stall this week, which I'm hoping is attributed to my monthly visitor and a lack of BMs (sorry if that's TMI!). I've noticed that I can eat a lot more as time goes by (I'm still sticking with the 1/2-3/4 of a cup per meal even though I feel like I can eat a whole lot more!). -
I read it. It was exhausting. :faint: But Geezer's line was one of the best I've heard in a long, long while. Almost made the reading worth it. Almost. I think I may be having brie farts for a week! TMI???

SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
Westfield27 replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This may be TMI but how long was it before you all had your first bowel movement? I just want to make sure I'm not getting backed up or if it's normal for the first couple of days or so? Thanks. -
SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
tiffdmill replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was just about to ask if anyone is taking anything for constipation/regularity? I took a small dose of milk of magnesia and have sipped a little smooth move tea. Last night I resorted to an enema because I needed the relief (tmi). Just wondering if at this early stage there are things we take to maintain regularity? -
Castor Oil or Magnesium Citrate ?
Bugsmema replied to BariatricGal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh man, I'd do anything but the castor oil. I was told if my baby was ready to come into this world, to take a spoonful of castor oil. That would bring on labor. She was 3 weeks over due (1968,) they wouldn't think of letting you go that long now, so I tried it! Only thing it did was cleaned me out good, spent hours in bathroom with bucket in hand cause I had it from both ends! Sorry, maybe TMI, it never worked, so I would use the other stuff!! Milk Diet... Day 1 ... 23 days to go!
MissWilde commented on h@rt*s mommy's blog entry in Blog 46107
Sounds similar to what I did! I got 2 litres of soya milk a day and 400ml of apple juice. I am lactose intolarant so could not have cow milk. I only had to do 7 days though! I did lose a significant amount of weight though even in a week so it was kinda worth it! The longing for food wears of one the hunger subsides I was fine by the surgery. The only down side was (this is prob TMI) the soya milk coated my tounge and no matter how much i brushed my teeth my breath was still awfull, and after a while my urine started to smell like soya milk not nice! I spent about 3 days after the op scrubbing my tounge! -
I'm very happy with my progress. I was sleeved 6/22/17. SW 319 CW 213 GW 170. I'm almost to go and just can't believe it happened so fast. People don't even recognize me I've changed so much. Of course I'm thrilled with the compliments. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I've had no trouble with the weight loss at all. I could care less about food now. But it's the unspoken things that are rough. So get ready for TMI. in the beginning it was the gas. I was miserable. But once I got more active and learned what to avoid I've learned how to deal with that. Next is the hair loss. I have always had think curly course hair. Now it's super thin on top, falls out in hand fulls, it's limp. I'm trying biotin and the shampoo. So hopefully it will get better with time. Constipation OMG! gotta keep stool softeners on hand. Because what goes hand in hand with constipation hemorrhoids. Yikes!##&/#- lastly neck and back pain. It is not at all like it was 100lbs ago. Just found out via the chiropractor that when you lose a large amount of weight fast your body's equalibiruim gets off You carry yourself differently. So I suggest getting an adjustment. It has been my saving grace. Felt like I had a knot between my shoulders for a month. Lastly the saggy skin. I haven't figured this one out yet. My arms (bat wings) are saggy. My inner thighs and my butt is saggy. So if anybody has the answers to that one I'm all ears. My winter body covered up is great but this spring I will be at goal and plan one heck of a shopping spree. Since I'm averaging 20 lbs,a month ally clothes are pretty ugh second hand. Thank goodness for thrift stores. But once I lose all this I'm hitting the mall with a vengeance. So I'm up for any suggestions. I know this post has been graphic but hey don't just a book by its cover. I'm looking good on the outside but as you can see there are downsides. But I wouldn't change a thing. I feel great have energy and my confidence is back. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

The surgery journey begins
moondoggie1983 replied to moondoggie1983's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Day 4 went well. I had my 2 hour pre-op meeting and my H&P with my surgeon yesterday. After 18 months of waiting, the process is suddenly FLYING BY! I go in for my pre-surgery testing on Wednesday May 2nd at 9am and then the endoscopy is Friday May 4th at 7 a.m. Then surgery Thursday May 10th. I got all five Optifast products down plus 2 servings of jello and 96 oz of water. Not bad considering I was at the surgeon’s office practically all day. I’ve dropped 5 lbs in 4 days which is great! The only bad news is that I had my first cheat on Optifast. I had 5 Fritos. Not five SERVINGS, but 5 chips. And I felt AWFUL after. First was the guilt of cheating and second I just felt bad physically. That will be the LAST and ONLY time I cheat! Ugh! Now for the TMI portion of my day. Initially I had terrible diarrhea on the first 3 days of the Optifast. Now I’m entering the constipation phase it seems. I’m going out tomorrow to buy some benefiber. I’ve already ordered my flavorless Unjury protein powder as my nutritionist recommended using it with basically everything during the first 4 months after surgery. Handy that you can mix it in with basically anything. I haven’t been taking any vitamins since starting the Optifast since it provides 100% daily values of everything I need. But when I go back for my pre-op tests on Wednesday I’ll be picking up my Celebrate Hair, Skin and Nails formula, Optisource multi chewables and an extra 27 Optifast shakes. I’ve decided to continue with those shakes for convenience sake. I know I’m not going to want to be making shakes myself right after surgery. I guess that’s it. Not too nervous since I was kept so busy today, but definitely having weird dreams regarding the diet and surgery. Since what really gets me nervous is the anesthesia part, I think being put under for the endoscopy will help alleviate that. I hope so anyway. Oh! And I got all my orders from Amazon today! Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies, toddler plates, cups, bowls and silverware and a set of books to read while I’m in the hospital and also recouperating. I want to be up and walking as much as possible, but from what I’ve read on here, some people seem to be really worn out for a week or two after surgery and I honestly just can’t watch that much tv (although it’s been recommended by friends I binge on Stanger Things since I’m a loser who hasn’t watched it yet lol) Anyway, I hope everyone with May surgeries are doing well. I haven’t been able to find any twins date of surgery wise, but hopefully I’ll be able to get advice and encouragement from those who have already gone through this. HW: 311 CW: 262 SW: We’ll see on May 10! -
Embarrassing question for the ladies

Not tmi. It's good to help each other. It doesn't sound like my issue because I'm not experiencing that. Just very sharp pain. -

I had a serious problem with NOT going after being banded. I thought I was going to wind up in the ER for help. Finally resolved it's self with the help of good 'ole Milk of Magnesia(sp). Now I take a softener everyday. Because we are eating small portions by the time out intestines are full enough to void it's a little hard. WOW that's TMI!!! lol Hope it helps! -
This is probably TMI, but I had my revision from band to RNY on April 1. I had a gi bleed afterwards and had to get a blood transfusion. I'm doing fine now. I'm on the blended/pureed stage for eating. I'm getting about 60 grams of Protein in. Drinking Water about 40-60 oz. per day. My question is, dis any of you experience diarrhea afterwards? It's usually 2-3 times per day. Just curious if this gets any better. Thank you. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

My 3-week stall only lasted 4 days? And now I'm dropping weight like crazy?
Hiraeth posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So, I hit my 3-week stall on Wednesday, and now it's Sunday. My stall has already vanished and I've lost an extra FOUR pounds since yesterday. Is this even normal? Yesterday, I did eat a TON of Protein. I mean, I ate so much that I thought I screwed up my diet. I ate like 5 pieces of beef tataki and 5 pieces of crab sticks. This is a lot to me considering it made me feel extremely full. I'm hoping my scale isn't wrong. I got on it 3 times and it keeps saying the same thing (229), and yesterday I weighed 232. It's my 4th day of PMSing so maybe the Water I was retaining has shed off of me, and I also had my first bowel movement yesterday since 3 days ago, (sorry TMI). Am I getting my hopes up? Or is this even possible? -
Hello all, looks like I'm the wimp of the bunch. I've slept for 72 hrs. I was very dizzy and just gave up walking. I have suffered from dizziness in the past. Gas is bad and abdominal pain a close second. Gas coming out slowly and today I made it to my living room. I've sipped some liquids and also found burping after helps. Not to ask TMI but has anyone had a bowel movement? I can actually see improvement so I'm not giving up. Good luck to all of you guys.

SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
gregthegroove replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sherrie, sorry for tmi, but what am I expecting for a bowel movement? I'm day 3 today. Should I start taking stool soften ears just to be safe? -
Well, I am 8 days post op and I am a bundle of mixed feelings. I am still somewhat sore, but not bad. Getting up and down are the worst part. Or yawning and sneezing. But sometimes I have been having a terrible sharp pain, like a stitch, in my side and my shoulder. It hurts so bad. Then I have to use the Vicodin. But it is happening less and less, which is really good. I am having a very hard time telling what the heck is going on in my stomach. Is it gas? Am I hungry? Am I full? What the hell? Right now, I can drink fluids pretty much as much as I want and not feel full. It seems like it is just sliding right through. Which is all right - I'm not really hungry. I eat more on a schedule because I know it is time to eat more or have more fluids or whatever. But when I DO eat or drink, I have no idea what full is yet. Which worries me a little. I have moved on to full liquids which is wonderful. I am so happy. I love Cream of Mushroom soup anyway, so this is really good. I was going to scream if I had to eat one more bowl of broth. But I have realized that soup, even the thicker cream of mushroom soup, is really just another liquid, which means I can eat the entire can of soup in one sitting and not feel full or anything. I don't know.... I am hoping that as I eat more solid things, and as I heal more, it will all become obvious. TMI for many people - but something that might be important for many .... I think I am getting a yeast infection. It is the beginning stages and it may resolve itself which is what I am hoping for. I think it is a result of the antibiotics that I got in the hospital. Just one more bag of fun to add to the bag. I am having issues of being tired but not really, but wanting to nap but not really. I am really tired right now. It seems to come and go in waves. And sometimes by the time I am able to finish up what I am doing and actually take one, I am not tired anymore. Then later I have a wave of tired again and I wish I had taken a nap earlier! But I am also restless, so even when I am tired and want to take a nap, I often can't quite settle enough to really sleep and all. I don't know what my problem is! I'm sure it is a matter of calories (eating so little means little calories means less energy) and just recovering from the surgery. I am feeling pretty good and I think I am often suffering from completely unrealistic expectations of how I should be feeling and what I should be able to do by now. I can't wait until I am further out and eating more normally, feeling more normally and able to do the things that I normally do. I especially hate the lack of cuddle time! I cuddle with my two kids and husband all the time. Hugs, snuggles, couch cuddle time, everything - I am one who lets the kids climb all over me and love every minute of it. So this is hard right now and I feel a little isolated at times. I let Molly lie on top of my side against the couch, so she wasn't on the incisions or anything and she almost fell asleep there and it was nirvana. :frown: SIGH.....

Is anyone else experiencing horrible bad breath, frequently in the morning? The stench seems to be coming from deep inside and almost like it is in the pouch. Is there a possibility of food stuck in there, maybe around the edge that has not gone down and is (yuck) rotting? I know this is a totally gross conversation, but I am really concerned and hope someone else has some insight. Thanks
-
Sorry to those who have had complications - thinking of you all. What a horrible experience it must be! I am 3 weeks post op and yes, the first week was tough and I had horrible gastro (TMI) but it's all calming down now and I hope that my future is bright.
