  1. It's been three years since I've been on here.. How is everyone?

  2. 7 weeks out and sad all the time. No reason to be sad, I think it's just the hormones. it's mild and walking really helps. Thankful for a husband who gets me and loves me even though I'm crazy! This is a wild ride.

It's wonderful that good ol' whatshisname is solid and that the mood is on the mild side and that you found a solution in walking. I hope this phase passes soon.

Thanks - I know I shouldn't be making important decisions by myself right now - so he has permission to let me know if we need help with this. at week 3 I was ANGRY for a week and after a couple of days realized it was my hormones, there were triggers but nothing new going on. it's an interesting experience!

  4. Have an appt with a Bariatric Dietitian and she is coming to the house. Hopefully she can help me out with what I am doing wrong in that I haven't lost anything in 4 weeks and I am only 10 weeks post op.

Yes I thought that not waiting a 1/2 hour or longer wasn't right so I will not listen to that bit of advise. However everything else seems to make sense according to what a lot of the people on this site were saying to me when I posted about the 41 grams of protein that the surgeon told me to eat and to stop the shakes. So now that I have the info from a Bariatric dietitian her info is what I am listening to except the drinking part.

I have been having the same kind of problem recently, I am 5 weeks out and haven't lost any weight in 2 weeks. I lose and gain the same pound over and over again. I am frustrated but trying to keep my head straight. I get at least 60 to 80 grams of protein a day and I am getting in my fluids. I don't savvy.

I have shared with many that I only lose 1 week per month. The other 3 I'll maintain or go up and down and then in one week I'll lose 8-10. Example, on March 8th, I was 302. On April 1 I was STILL 302. Today I am 294. This happens to me EVERY month. Try not to stress the weight every week and trust the process.

  5. Been one heck of a week. Trip to ER. Kidney stone surgery. Stent put in. Inpatient hospital stay. Acute Renal Failure. Gained 30 lbs water weight in 7 days. Trips to Urologist, Cardiologist, and Gastric Sleeve surgeon. Lost 25 lbs water weight in the last 48 hours. Thank God things seem to be looking up again.

  6. Little changes start early and become habits right ?? WEll, I am steadily sipping water all day long and have made it a habit the last two weeks. Every time I have to empty the bladder I hit the stairwell across the hall from the bathroom and do two sets of stairs. It is 30 steps up and 30 s teps down. So 60 setps a set and I am doing two sets. So 120 steps ata time. I am averaging 4 trips a day so for 480 steps. or 240 vertical steps. Tomorrow before leaving I will do take the elevator up to the 22nd floor and come all the way down. Baby steps !

  13. Scared about pre op diet. How can you feel full on a liquid protein shake? How did you get through two weeks of it??

    1. Veronica Page

      Veronica Page

I too had two weeks of liquid diet before my surgery and while yes I did have some headaches and hunger pains it is really doable. You should be able to drink anywhere between 4-6 protein shakes a day and reason for the protein shakes it so it keeps your fuller for longer. You can also speak to your nut or surgeon about having clear broths inbetween those shakes as well. Stay strong cause in the long run it is worth it for you will have a safer and healthier start to your journey. Good luck!

    2. Mountaingal

      Mountaingal

It was actually far easier than I expected. I did find taking time drinking each shake it seemed to work better than if I drank it down in a hurry.I did make mine with ice in them which made them seems thicker and again they took longer to drink. It is worth any hunger you go through to reach the goal of surgery. Good luck and congratulations on making this change in your life.

      kimby1029

You can do it! After about 2 1/2 days your hunger really drops down too. Hang in there!

  14. This past Monday I made 7 weeks post-op. Saw my doc and was told my daily portein intake should be 65 grams WITHOUT having to resort to shakes. WTW?!?! I am geting nowhere near that amount. Is anyone else having problems getting enough protein daily? Water? I was told at least 64 oz a day which is approximately 4 bottles of water - you would think that'snot a lot, but I can barely get 3 in a day. Please tell me I'm not alone in this.

    2. emilyphoenix74

Im with you. Im 5 wks post op. I barely get 32oz water and my protien is around 35/40. I stopped drinking shakes because i literally cant stand them anymore. I can only eat a maximum of 4oz at a time and im craving vegetables and fruit because im only eating meat to get my protien in.

I am going to have the RNY, I dont have a date, I am doing the 6 month pre op for my insurance first.

  17. I've been on a one-week break from my fitness habits: Drinking wine with dinner, eating treat foods, logging haphazardly on MFP, and not keeping up with my exercise schedule. It's time to get back on track.

  18. Ok. So still frustrated with the scale not moving, BUT , first NSV--a dress that did not fit last week, is almost ready to wear. Maybe with some spandex, but soon!,

    1. sweettea

      sweettea

Well, you must be losing something - inches, or the dress wouldn't fit.

    2. pink dahlia

      pink dahlia

Sometimes the NSV is more important than a number on a scale. The scale isn't always 100 % accurate, and can go up or down for no reason, but the clothes ? Clothes don't lie. They tell the truth, so congratulations on your big NSV ! Keep it up !!!

  19. Really frustrated! I assume my body is in shock from losing so much the first to weeks, and adding the multi vitamin with iron didn't help, and the monthly visitor, but seriously, gaining a pound??

    1. jane13

      jane13

I use to gain 3-5 from "Aunt Flo"!

drink, walk and stay away from processed foods (salt) and of course, don't add any salt.

Stalls are inevitable - you will have them and some weeks you will gain. stay the course :D

  20. So - hormones have totally caught up with me 7 weeks post-sleeve. I'm a raging lunatic today.

  21. Well it is 6:47 AM here on the east coast and today I start my 2 week journey of only liquids prior to surgery. Went to see my Dr. yesterday he said everything looks great and was very confident with my surgery. he also said that many Sleeve patients have nausea for three days after surgery. He gave me a script to take 1 pill before I leave that morning and 2 more pills 1 for each day after, said that they were a bit pricey, when I went to the pharmacy they were $328.00 so I neglected to purchase them. I contacted the nurse and she said don't worry they would give me something in the hospital in I was sick. Were any of you very sick that made it had to drink?

I never took it either. I too feel blessed that the only time I get nauseated is if I am dehydrated.
