  6. Scared about pre op diet. How can you feel full on a liquid protein shake? How did you get through two weeks of it??

    1. Veronica Page

      Veronica Page

I too had two weeks of liquid diet before my surgery and while yes I did have some headaches and hunger pains it is really doable. You should be able to drink anywhere between 4-6 protein shakes a day and reason for the protein shakes it so it keeps your fuller for longer. You can also speak to your nut or surgeon about having clear broths inbetween those shakes as well. Stay strong cause in the long run it is worth it for you will have a safer and healthier start to your journey. Good luck!

    2. Mountaingal

      Mountaingal

It was actually far easier than I expected. I did find taking time drinking each shake it seemed to work better than if I drank it down in a hurry.I did make mine with ice in them which made them seems thicker and again they took longer to drink. It is worth any hunger you go through to reach the goal of surgery. Good luck and congratulations on making this change in your life.

    3. kimby1029

      kimby1029

You can do it! After about 2 1/2 days your hunger really drops down too. Hang in there!

  7. This past Monday I made 7 weeks post-op. Saw my doc and was told my daily portein intake should be 65 grams WITHOUT having to resort to shakes. WTW?!?! I am geting nowhere near that amount. Is anyone else having problems getting enough protein daily? Water? I was told at least 64 oz a day which is approximately 4 bottles of water - you would think that'snot a lot, but I can barely get 3 in a day. Please tell me I'm not alone in this.

    1. Madtownsunshine17

Wow, I'm not there yet, but that does seem daunting. :)

    2. emilyphoenix74

      emilyphoenix74

Im with you. Im 5 wks post op. I barely get 32oz water and my protien is around 35/40. I stopped drinking shakes because i literally cant stand them anymore. I can only eat a maximum of 4oz at a time and im craving vegetables and fruit because im only eating meat to get my protien in.

@emilyphoenix74, seems you and I are in the same boat. This phase is a little frustrating.

      Jolene-journey

I am going to have the RNY, I dont have a date, I am doing the 6 month pre op for my insurance first.

  10. I've been on a one-week break from my fitness habits: Drinking wine with dinner, eating treat foods, logging haphazardly on MFP, and not keeping up with my exercise schedule. It's time to get back on track.

  11. Ok. So still frustrated with the scale not moving, BUT , first NSV--a dress that did not fit last week, is almost ready to wear. Maybe with some spandex, but soon!,

    1. sweettea

      sweettea

Well, you must be losing something - inches, or the dress wouldn't fit.

    2. pink dahlia

      pink dahlia

Sometimes the NSV is more important than a number on a scale. The scale isn't always 100 % accurate, and can go up or down for no reason, but the clothes ? Clothes don't lie. They tell the truth, so congratulations on your big NSV ! Keep it up !!!

  12. Really frustrated! I assume my body is in shock from losing so much the first to weeks, and adding the multi vitamin with iron didn't help, and the monthly visitor, but seriously, gaining a pound??

    1. jane13

      jane13

I use to gain 3-5 from "Aunt Flo"!

drink, walk and stay away from processed foods (salt) and of course, don't add any salt.

Stalls are inevitable - you will have them and some weeks you will gain. stay the course :D

  13. So - hormones have totally caught up with me 7 weeks post-sleeve. I'm a raging lunatic today.

      jane13

take water bottle and go to bed! that's what I do.

  14. Well it is 6:47 AM here on the east coast and today I start my 2 week journey of only liquids prior to surgery. Went to see my Dr. yesterday he said everything looks great and was very confident with my surgery. he also said that many Sleeve patients have nausea for three days after surgery. He gave me a script to take 1 pill before I leave that morning and 2 more pills 1 for each day after, said that they were a bit pricey, when I went to the pharmacy they were $328.00 so I neglected to purchase them. I contacted the nurse and she said don't worry they would give me something in the hospital in I was sick. Were any of you very sick that made it had to drink?

    1. jane13

      jane13

I never took it either. been very blessed....

    2. Djmohr

      Djmohr

I never took it either. I too feel blessed that the only time I get nauseated is if I am dehydrated.

    2. antigone40

      antigone40

I cursed it! No, I think I mostly just waited it out. I continued to keep my calories and carbs low and kept exercising. Science is on my side.

In my mind I'm not going to be albe to eat the food I used to love in the quanity I used to love to eat it in. rking

  20. Creeping, creeping, creeping toward Onederland......an average of a quarter pound per week.......so slow.....working on patience....will eventually get there and to my goal. Just wish it was more like a half pound a week average.

      Thanks, ya'll!

    2. Djmohr

      Djmohr

I got there about 10 days ago and then guess what, I creeped right back up to 200.2. I have been stuck for almost 2 weeks. I wish it would just give me a break and let me move past. Oh well, I am now avoiding the scale for a while.

    3. MrsSugarbabe

      MrsSugarbabe

@Djmohr -- I feel your frustration and agree---a break would be nice....to show a loss without creeping back up even just a little.

  22. For the past few weeks, I've had a hankering for a peanut butter cup, and have managed to resist buying any every time I've gone shopping. The combination of peanut butter and chocolate is a favorite even though I'm not a choco-holic. Recently I've learned about PB2 powder and have found a recipe on Unjury that just might satisfy this craving and still have more protein and good stuff than bad stuff. I just ordered some PB2 to try. Will let you know how the peanut butter cups turn out.

Love PB2. The chocolate is a nice treat when my sweet tooth nags at me. Love either on on apples or celery as well as in a smoothy
