  1. 10 weeks out from surgery, and I just ate popcorn (Smartfood white cheddar, 3/4 cup) for the first time since surgery. It was SO GOOD; now I just have to see if it sits well. So far, so good.

Have been gradually working on trying new things; so far, nothing has given me even semi-major issues, but taco seasoning still doesn't sit well in my stomach.

Dang! You're pretty lucky. I am still on soft foods and having enough difficulty with them. Well, one day right!?

My program moves faster than most - one day clear liquids, one week full liquids, two weeks puree, and two weeks soft, then no restrictions (other than those your body creates) at five weeks.

      You'll get there!

  2. Well not the greatest start to my day, only down 1.5 pounds and missed the crossover from obese to overweight. So another week i guess. Well at least its down even if slower than i would like.

Tuesday is nine full months and some days it feels like a blink and others like 9 years.

got to get some coffee in me, to dam early in the morning for coherent thought.

    enjoy your weekend

Sorry you had a rough weigh-in. It's a BEAST!!! It is so amazing the power that the scales holds over us. Isn't it? Even though you have another week to wait, losing 1.5lbs this week is super duper. Congrats. You will realize your crossover victory next week!!

  6. Well this is my first post. I decided to get weight loss surgery about 4 months ago. I was going thru alot with my health. Shortness of breathe, pain in all my joints, and having problems walking. Well this journey actually started back in 2011 when I fell at work. Since then I have had 5 surgeries and one more that is being scheduled after weightloss surgery. I also had gained about 50 lbs and my health kept deteriorating . I had gone to several doctors for all my issues and had all the necessary test and had followed several different diets.Everything needed for surgery without actually knowing I had already meet all the criterias. So when I went to Brookdale Hospital for a my Gastric sleeve appointment i already had almost everythng I needed except physic , nutrionist, and sleep apnea test. Well as of the middle of May all paperwork was in and papers were submitted to Insurance Company and as of May 26 I have been approved for surgery. Surgery date is June 13, 2016 and I am now into my second week of pre-op diet . I started this journey with a weight of 230 I am 5'4" and now weigh 215. I have studied everything from pre-op diets, post-op diets and the journey afterwards. Well Im one week away from surgery and I am becoming more and more anxious with less and less energy. Doing everything correct following diet and taking all my vitamins and using all my protein powders yet finding it harder and harder to function as a normal person. Well I guess thats it for now Ill post again as time goes by.

  7. Suppose I hit the 3 week stall. Scale hasn't moved in about a week and a half and I'm starting to think it never will again...

    1. SalOdyssey

      SalOdyssey

Just a speed bump in the road. This too will pass! I hit a speed bump of my own the getting the surgery done, but this too shall pass and I will overcome. Hope all else is well BD!! :)

      ProudGrammy

stalls are a bummer!!! if the scale hasn't moved for at least 3 weeks - that's a stall- scale not moving about one week, that' frustration!!! it will move if i have to come over and kick it!!! LOL - don't worry, you will start to lose weight again, while you win the game!! good luck - kathy

Happened to me at just 2 weeks out. Nothing to fret over, your body is just readjusting. I noticed a big drop in the tape measure during that first stall, so try paying more attention to that than the scale :)

  8. Getting prepared for 103 degree weather next week. Breaking out the big water sports bottle for hydration.

Glad to see it warm up. I live on my patio most of the summer. I love summer nights when it cools down to 90. Sitting outside people watching at the village or downtown is the best at night.

  9. Minor setback, infection after foot surgery last week. Must heal before RNY on 6/15!

  10. Held a plank for 30 seconds today. Considering 8 weeks ago I struggled to hold it for 12 seconds, I'd say that's progress! And did four of them in a row today not just one. yeah me!

    1. Christinamo7

      Christinamo7

yes they do! I do them a few times a week at work - and I do yoga and pilates. Pilates is what I love best - because like Dub I want to get my abs of tin. haha :-) I'd like to make people's mouths drop when they learn about my 7 kids.

30 seconds is tremendous progress. I remember your earlier note about planks. Right now I have abs of gossamer, but have just begun -- again -- PT. Core strengthening is one of the chief goals.

  14. I have broken the 3rd stall since surgery and am down 8 more pounds for a total of 47 since surgery 15 weeks ago. 230 pounds gone from my highest weight. That new scale I got on Monday was kind of not liking either my body or maybe where I placed it as it wouldn't register for me. The number after the . wouldn't stop moving and the scale never beeped like it did for my roommate when he got on it. Yesterday the scale finally registered a weight for me. I moved it and got on it naked where as before I had clothing on.

that's great - hate the word st--, won't say or write it. LOL - 47 lbs down PO, how great are you!! keep up the good work - kathy

  15. I missed the gym more than I care to mention this week. In turn I have avoided the scales too. Not this morning though, I put my big girl panties on and stepped on...101 pounds down! So freaking excited:)

  20. 7 weeks out and sad all the time. No reason to be sad, I think it's just the hormones. it's mild and walking really helps. Thankful for a husband who gets me and loves me even though I'm crazy! This is a wild ride.

    1. WLSResources/ClothingExch

      WLSResources/ClothingExch

It's wonderful that good ol' whatshisname is solid and that the mood is on the mild side and that you found a solution in walking. I hope this phase passes soon.

Thanks - I know I shouldn't be making important decisions by myself right now - so he has permission to let me know if we need help with this. at week 3 I was ANGRY for a week and after a couple of days realized it was my hormones, there were triggers but nothing new going on. it's an interesting experience!

  22. Have an appt with a Bariatric Dietitian and she is coming to the house. Hopefully she can help me out with what I am doing wrong in that I haven't lost anything in 4 weeks and I am only 10 weeks post op.

    1. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

Yes I thought that not waiting a 1/2 hour or longer wasn't right so I will not listen to that bit of advise. However everything else seems to make sense according to what a lot of the people on this site were saying to me when I posted about the 41 grams of protein that the surgeon told me to eat and to stop the shakes. So now that I have the info from a Bariatric dietitian her info is what I am listening to except the drinking part.

    2. MIMISAN

      MIMISAN

I have been having the same kind of problem recently, I am 5 weeks out and haven't lost any weight in 2 weeks. I lose and gain the same pound over and over again. I am frustrated but trying to keep my head straight. I get at least 60 to 80 grams of protein a day and I am getting in my fluids. I don't savvy.

    3. her1981

      her1981

I have shared with many that I only lose 1 week per month. The other 3 I'll maintain or go up and down and then in one week I'll lose 8-10. Example, on March 8th, I was 302. On April 1 I was STILL 302. Today I am 294. This happens to me EVERY month. Try not to stress the weight every week and trust the process.

  24. Little changes start early and become habits right ?? WEll, I am steadily sipping water all day long and have made it a habit the last two weeks. Every time I have to empty the bladder I hit the stairwell across the hall from the bathroom and do two sets of stairs. It is 30 steps up and 30 s teps down. So 60 setps a set and I am doing two sets. So 120 steps ata time. I am averaging 4 trips a day so for 480 steps. or 240 vertical steps. Tomorrow before leaving I will do take the elevator up to the 22nd floor and come all the way down. Baby steps !
