Home early and feeling kind of yucky!
AJW replied to AJW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Guys, Hope today is better than yesterday. I walked around like a big gas bag burping and back-dooring gas all day, and peeing like a race horse. OK, TMI again. Sorry:blushing: Yeah, that Isopure has got to go. I cannot stand the taste of it. I did not see on the Vitalady site where you can order samples of the Syntrax Nectar mix, just the big up plastic $30 jars of it. If I get it I just need to like it, ya know. GNC carries it too, but I'm sure not in all flavors, and shipping takes so long. I have other unflavored whey protein , so I guess I could mix that into different drinks. I tried Hawaiian Punch lite (or basically sugar-free) as suggested by Nina at Dr. A's, but gag me on that stuff. Too sweet. Taking pills is a real challenge too. I soaked the Nex Mups, but I also have to take a BP pill for awhile longer, and at night I take OTC Unisom to help sleep. Nothing is simple any more. On the up side, with all that water release yesterday I was down 3 pounds today. Of course that's just fluid retention not fat. One day at a time I guess.:laugh0: -
Ok so this may also be TMI and I am sorry for being graphic but I am at my wit's end here. I am 6 months post op, and Thursday night I woke up to by far the worse pain I have ever felt, it was under my breasts, rib area and spreading to my chest and back, on top of it I even blacked out. Taken to closest emergency room which by the way was the worst experience ever besides the hot male nurse who saw me at my worst... let me just say this real quick ...huge peach pajamas..no bra and black socks......no make up..zit cream on my face ...oh yeah embarrassing but what is more embarrassing for the hospital..they never heard of the SLEEVE...yes I said it...no clue. They looked at me like I was nuts! I told them "call my surgeon" at least 100 times..did they call NO!!! They gave me morphine, Fluid, did a cat scan, said I abdominal pain and sent me home...yes sent me home..could have a tear...how would they know right.. they wouldnt even call my surgeon! Can you believe it? My bill will be probably thousands...for what??? Needless to say I called my surgeon in the morning and went right in to be advised I had a bowel blockage, partial but 14 about 12 pounds worth and what do you know right up under my ribs... top of bowel...could they have told me that at the hospital ..NO. Sorry for ranting, I am just so bothered by it! Ok so here is where I need help, my surgeon said no NG tubes so they cannot flush the block and he wants me to clear it on my own by taking citrate magnesium and miralax combo. I did it but my bowel never ran clear like he said. I have since tried a second time and nothing. I have gone jogging, ran up and down the steps...ate applesauce, drank apple juice, ate prunes, drank prune juice, drank a ton of Water, warm water, metamucil (alot), ate hot food, ate everything whole grain I could find and I cannnot clear this block. It will not work...i clears my bottom bowel but never runs clear like he said. I need to clear it, or it could turn to a total obstruction and I will be hospitalized. I want to avoid that at all costs. Has anyone had a similar issue and please tell me any home remedies you have, I am desperate and will try anything. I bought an enema but am thinking will also just clear lower bowel. I can't go through that pain again ever. This is affecting my job. Last day off today! HELP!! PS.. I have suffered with constipation the entire time and I drink 3 glasses a day of a Fiber drink and take stool softners daily. Thanks for any ideas On a brighter note I have lost 96 lbs since being sleeved, Ijust want to be healthy

I am on day 6 of the preop diet. My surgery is Thursday. Woo hoo. And all has been well until last night. My stomach feels horrible. I was up until 4:30 this morning feeling like I'm gonna puke, but my stomach is grumbling like its hungry. Then iv gone to the bathroom a billion times. Between peeing, gas, and "loosish" stool (TMI sorry ) I'm exhausted. Now, I may be over thinking because I'm an over thinker. It's what I do. But am I getting sick???? Lord I hope not. My preop diet consists of 3 Protein shakes, 5oz piece of meat and either 1 cup of cooked veggies or 2 cups of raw veggies. And I have stuck with this plan except for one small bite of Mac and cheese to taste the flavor because my kids were complaining. Ahhhh HELP!!!!! Sleeve Date: March 28, 2013 First Goal 50lbs: July 13, 2013

Did anyone else have their period on the day of surgery? I'm usually right on schedule, and should have it the day of surgery. Were you able to wear a tampon?

I know this is an old post but I learned something about the funny smell of me mixing with my husband last year from my doctor. At my regular appt my doctor told me I had a bacterial infection. I had no symptoms so I had no idea. It turns out I had one symptom I just never put two and two together. After my husband and I made love the next day his semen smelled kind of funny in me, and I noticed that same funny smell when I used soap to wash that area. Come to find out soap changes the Ph of discharge and changing the Ph of a sample of your discharge is how they diagnose the bacterial infection. Now I know if that smell returns or I smell it when using soap I head to the doctor. (Not saying Ebony has this just some TMI info for everyone) Oh and I don't douche but have before. It seems like it takes days after your period to get "clean" again. Ugh.

Well not to be TMI, but I don't have a cycle. I will try and watch the sodium though. I haven't had issues with constipation yet.

I know it's TMI, but I just started my preop diet today and I have been in the restroom constantly, is anyone having this problem or had this problem? Tell me I'm not alone lol.

Burgandy, Most of us have some weight gain right after surgery from the fluids given via IV. Then, the dreaded 3 week stall hits almost as soon as we start seeing some improvement. It sounds like you might have both over-lapping. You lost 21 pounds pre-op? That might also contribute to the stall you are currently experiencing. TMI, but consider whether you are having BM's yet. I noticed that I lost some every time I had a BM, especially in the first couple of weeks. Are you feeling okay in general? Able to walk and move around without significant pain? As long as you are, then just keep following your surgeon's plan as much as possible. Walk, sip Water, try to get your Protein in, and repeat. Your tummy is so small after being sleeved that it's virtually impossible to not lose weight. It might take a little bit for that weight loss to kick into gear, though. For me, when I stall I find that patience is the key. I have to just keep drinking my water, getting in my protein, and doing my exercise. I have noticed that my clothes get bigger quickly when I'm not losing pounds. I am doing the stair-step plan, apparently. Lose a few pounds, then get stuck at a weight for a week or so, then lose a few more pounds. During that "stuck" period, I usually end up having to consign more clothing to the give-away box. If you are following your plan correctly, then you should start seeing weight loss within a couple of days...and it will probably be pretty dramatic. If you don't see some weight loss by early next week, check in with the doctor's office. I doubt there's anything wrong, but it will make you feel better.

Questions About Constipation
Estella replied to Estella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the tips. The problem was solved without any chemical aid or special effort. I was worried for nothing. I hope it wasn't TMI. -
Hey everyone, I'm new here. I'm getting sleeved on 3/29 and I was wondering if any women shaved "down there" before surgery? I was thinking that with a catheter being put in I might want to, but didn't know if I could or should. Anyone deal with this? Thanks!

A Tale of Two Arm Lifts (rs & ms.sss)
ms.sss replied to ms.sss's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
An excerpt of my 10 day Plastics Post-op Update (link to this below): * TMI Alert * Poop Watch 2019 continues... Today marks Day 12. I am carrying TWELVE days of poop in me, people. Mr. (he's a keeper) assisted me with suppository insertion this morning. After no less than 2 minutes, I felt the sweet, sweet urge to push. So I skipped (skipped!) to the toilet and out came........a partially melted suppository. That's it. Are you effing kidding me. Now, the instructions on the box said not to use more than once in a 24 hour period. It also said that it should have worked within 15 mins to an hour. So I'm going to try it again at 6pm tonite, which is 12 hours after this morning's attempt as I figure I basically pooped the suppository out before it even melted and do its thing. In the meantime I ate 2 prunes. Good News is that it didn't make me sick, Bad News is that I am not a fan of the taste. I am also drinking water like a crazy person. Miraculously, despite my backed-upped-ness, I don't have any pain nor cramps. Just a feeling of absolute bloat. Ugh. -

Ladies, TMI , just wondering...
innwtitdtity replied to Jodi73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine and was not able to wear a tampon, had to wear a pad. Also had to wear the special fish net panties too (just in case they need access for a catheter I was told). I did not notice any increase in flow though it was a little tough to change myself the first time while in the hospital. TMI I know  -
Chicago - Surgery Tomorrow At 11:30!
Nick'sMom replied to Nick'sMom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hello everyone. I made it through with flying colors. Those of you that reminded me to keep positive and go into it with a good attitude seriously made all the difference. My surgery was delyed a few hours because of issues with the surgeries before me, So I finally had my surgery about 2:00 then to recovery for a couple of hours. i seriously had a great experience - as great as this type of thing can go. Not sure why but I didn't need a cathiter (sp?) nor did I have a drain. i was up a walking last night, but had a little nausea but they took care of that. This morning I passed my leak test and had my first post 'meals'. Mostly broths because the Jello is just too sweet. I was able to drink apple juice. I'm not in that much pain although I did press the morophine button a few times over night. I'm off all wires and IVs and they gave me a dose of Loratab a little while ago to take the edge off the feeling that I did 1000 situps . I'm doing my laps around the floor and using my breathing machine as directed. They were going to send me home today (although i'm glad they didn't) but they can't until I pass gas - but my bladder is working just fine. TMI? sorry. I hope everyone is doing well today and I Iook forward to the next chapter of this journey. Thanks again to all the well wishers, i really appreciate it - You're the best!! -
Workout/motivational Buddy Anyone?
blackanese25 replied to blackanese25's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Im sorry to hear about your nausea, but it sounds like you are really doing wonderful. I keep wanting to try a boot camp class but my doctor really wants me to wait till i go in for my post op with the surgeon on the 27th so i figure i will wait before i start anything else that will force me to really work out. I am still hitting the gym 5 days a week, and i recently started running again, i make sure thats its a slow and steady run and im not pushing myself ridiculously hard, but i am taking it a little further each day. So hopefully im not over doing it, but i feel so good after my workouts. the only thing that has stopped me dead in my tracks is it that TOM, lol.. which really puts a damper on things. It started yesterday and in one day i gained 2 lbs. i was down to 212.1 sorry if thats TMI. lol... but other than that i think im doing well.. hopefully i am done by this weekend so i can get back to running. -
Okay, this is probably TMI but here goes. I am scheduled for surgery at 7:15 in the morning. I have been on the preop diet for 10 days. I had totally forgotten that I was supposed to do Milk of Magnesia today for a bowel prep at 10, 2 and 6. I just remembered and took the first dose at 3:15. If I am off schedule with this a bit do you think it will have an effect on my surgery?

Am I the only one?? That thinks a bowel movement during phase I post op is freakin amazing 🤷🏽♀️[emoji1440]♀️[emoji846]🤣

If you're on the two week pre-op liquid diet of protein shakes, that's a lot of protein and zero fiber. My advice is to buy both Miralax and suppositories pre-op. Mix miralax in Day 2 post-op and I needed to use a suppository on day 3 or 4. Since then I've been really regular (TMI) but yes every visit to the toilet is a gift. -
Puking: Post-Op vs. Pre-Op
GettinSkinnywithit replied to 🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So preop my vomits, were monumental. Actually bruised my throat once and one time it was so forceful it sprayed down when it hit the back of my front teeth. I know tmi but now, one month post op I’ve had two episodes. Last week I ate one two many bites of mashed potatoes and thank god I was next to the sink. It’s weird it’s a foamy frothy mess and it came up quick. Second time was yesterday at work pot luck lunch. My biggest fear post op is a work episode from either end. I was good and fine but an hour later wandered into the kitchen and ate two Chick-fil-A nuggets and one mini corn dog nugget looking thing. I thought I could make it throw the breading - nope! I felt the chest pain and left to walk around outside. Fortunately there is a Park next door. Waking wasn’t helping and I knew it was coming up quick so I dove behind a bush stop for one step let her rip and kept waking. I don’t think anyone noticed or even heard. I’ve also been lucky that the other end issue has only been constipation twice and not at work. I’m not a work pooper - in fact Home Depot has clean restrooms five minutes away - so I’ve been lucky there. My stuff smelled way worse preop! -
This might be tmi? I've tried everything but for the life of me, I can't get eating right. I've tried eating slow, tiny bites spaced out,,drinking and not drinking with my meal. I've even tried standing up and walking when eating. I can't digest food right. As soon as I'm done eating I get waves of nausea and then it feels like a bunch of belches will come up but it's liquid..if I let it out,,I'm gonna toss my cookies. This goes on for over an hour after I eat. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong or what I could do differently?

I hope everyone faired well today. I did not have to be at the hospital until 10:45 and the surgery was delayed a bit. I did not get to my room until after 6pm. I did the 11 day pre-op diet and lost 13 lbs in that timeframe. As of the time of this posting (12:43 am) I have been up twice walking, pee'd twice (tmi i know) and just waiting for a big giant gas bubble. I do see the 'pain' that people talk about in their left shoulder. I have it myself but isnt too bad if I walk. ttyl

I'm almost 3 months post-op and feel a HUGE difference! Updates: -My weight loss actually EXCEEDS my non-PCOS sleeve friends. I really attribute this to all the Protein I've been having. I've been very strict about only having Proteins, with certain fruits/veggies and maybe whole grains as a treat. I've also been swimming 4 times a week and boxing once a week. -I don't have those crazy mood swings I had pre-op. -My period seems more normal. it's not always on schedule, but I'm no longer "spotting" in between (TMI I know ) -I don't have any pain in my ovaries. -hair loss: Last year, I had huge bouts of massive hair loss. Nothing helped except reducing stress and taking a bunch of Vitamins. Right now, I feel a few more strands falling out, but nothing extreme. My hair looks very shiny and healthy, better than it did before surgery. -The most important thing : THE EXCESSIVE HAIR has almost been resolved!!! This doesn't have to do with the surgery, but with the Dermatologist I went to. I went to American Laser Centers for a YEAR and didn't see any results, honestly I think they're a scam! I went to this particular dermatologist just ONCE and 2-3 weeks later I no longer have to shave everyday. The stubbly dots are mostly gone. Let me tell you, my excess hair was EXTREME. She said my results were the best possible due to my pale skin and dark hair. So if you tried laser without success, go to an actual dermatologist to try a different type of laser. At my next laser appointment, I will ask her what type she used so you can try it out to see if it works for you. I am so extremely pleased and grateful for these results. I can actually go swimming without makeup! I would have never gone out without make up/shaving everyday before laser treatment. The procedure itself actually hurt A LOT and it took my face 5-10 days to heal. I only started seeing results 2 weeks after, but they were unbelievably worth it. As someone with severe PCOS (which meds like Spiro and Byetta coudln't help), I can honestly say there is great hope for a cure!!! That's it for now. I hope this is helping anyone interested in doing the surgery. It was the best decision of my life, just make sure you do the best you can! Please message me if you have any questions.

What happens if you don't get all your protein in? My surgery buddy and I are having the same issue. Not many we can tolerate. I just look at my protein and throw up. Sorry TMI. Any help would be appreciated.
