Good luck..I started the process in Aug and have completed my dietary requirements from the dietician and my insurance. I have tried for years to lose the weight and have suffered from my thyroid issues as well. I found out that I will have to pay $11k out of pocket as my insurance only covers $5K.....uugh! Well, tomorrow, I have my pschy eval tomorrow and am nervous. Things are moving fast as I have my blood work and ekg on Tuesday, 11/11. Once these two are complete, I will have my case reviewed and then meet with the surgeon and should be scheduled by the 1st week in Dec. Has Im just nervous and feel that I can now begin to live my life at age 37 once I lose the weight. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks

Hello Laurie: All is well with me. I am drinking lots of protien and getting lots of rest. Keeping stress at bay and keeping busy at work. I recommend drinking the ISD New Whey protien bullets. They have various flavors, with 42 grams of protien in a 3.1 ounce serving. It goes down quick and it is very filling. I also like the Isopure drinks with 40 grams of protien.
I have lost 15 pounds thus far by drinking those products, but honestly I have slipped on the pre-op diet, but I am still losing weight. It is hard to believe that my surgery is next week. I have been so busy that I have not had time to think of the procedure. This is my 10th surgery, so I am not afraid of being in the operating room. This Friday I have the EKG and blood work done. I work on Monday and then Tuesday is the surgery. I will let you know how it goes when I get home from the hospital stay.
Where are you at with the process???

Went to a doctor on friday for issues with my back that were related to my work injury. Left that appointment feeling humiliated and embarrassed. The doctor told me to start getting active ( I am, he would have known that had he asked me), he then said that my issue is related to my weight and diabetes( I dont have diabetes). My overall visit was traumatizing. I was treated like a fat patient instead of a patient in need. I hope the approval for preauth comes sooner than later. It has now been two business days and since the preauth was sent.

I had Lap Band surgery in July 2006 and when I got to my weight goal I maintained til about 6 months ago when I slowly started loosing weight without even trying. I didn't noticed at first until I went for my physical in March. The doctors say I am under weight and I need to gain weight or at least maintain my present weight. If I loose more weight they want to do a massive workup on me. I feel great but don't look to great with the extra weight loss. I do have hypothyroidism and my med had to be adjusted in the last 2 month. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to gain with by eating healthy.

Since you're a techy I thought I'd ask you my question. Hope you don't mind. How do you add the printed info to/with your weight ticker?

Personally I drink a lot of green tea throughout my day for a boost of energy and to keep my system regulated. I also think one of the most effective keys to losing weight for me was to workout on a regular routine. I go to the YMCA twice weekly or I workout at home daily or every other day. Just get moving to speed up your heart rate and the weight lost will come.

The weight just fell off! I had lost 100 pounds by New Year 2009 and had surpassed my first goal of 180 pounds by my first anniversary. However, because of several life turns I am back on the yo-yo diet circuit.

G'day Jade,
How have you been since the surgery? I didn't cope with the pain very well, but as it is now day 6 for me I am very glad i have got this far. I went home from hopital the day after surgery and was in a lot of pain, after a sleepless night and crying to my hubby i want it out, i was readmitted to hospital and given pain meds. (what a relief) Since then it has only got better thankgoodness, lol. Now that the weight is strting to come off... I'm feelin it might just be worth it lol.

Hi Mol, Just back from vacation in Florida and returned toi cold and dreary weather but next weeksw forcast is looking great. Gained about 3 lbs from eating so good and back on track tomorrow. Have to wait abvout 6 weeksw for another fill to make ure my insurance is going to pay. Needed one a month ago but just have to wait and see. My dr charges $380.00 and then the facility fee is $450.00 per fill. Seems like a rip off to me but that is the way things work in th U.S. with insurance companies and DR.'s and such. My insurance paid for the surgery and I assumed thry were going to pay for the fill also. Just have to wait and see. I have not lost any weight for 3 months other than a few lbs I have played with going up and then down. I am starting to wonder if this was the right thing for me to do? JenhaY

I'm down 14lbs since having my band placed. I'm learning what foods work and what doesn't. I would love to eat a burger (and maybe fries too) but I don't know how my new stomach will like it. Anyways, I'm happy that I'm loosing weight. It feels really, really good. I'm exercising too and it feels great.

Hi!
I was banded on 2/19 and the first week and a half after the surgery I lost around 10 pounds, but after all the swelling was gone I'm back to almost the way I was before and I'm getting hungry like crazy. Sometimes I eat things I know I should not eat and I'm not losing any weight, I'm scheduled for my first fill in about a month from now. Will it change after the fill? Will I lose weight? I'm very discouraged right now.

Hi Amberstar! I'm new to this site. I joined the Dallas Diva's group this evening. So glad I came by it, and hope to meet you all soon. I was banded in 2007. And looking forward to reach my goal weight this year. Good luck to you! Thanks, Sandra.
