Well, I went in for a CAT scan tonight to try to find out about this horrible pain I've been having in my port area. I'm one year banded and have lost 80 pounds. While I was in the dressing room, I put on that little hospital robe and for the first time in my adult life, IT WRAPPED ALL THE WAY AROUND MY BODY!!! How ironic is that??? I just had to laugh, here I am exactly one year and one day post banding, and having major band pain and possible complications, but yet what an NSV! LOL! At least at made me feel a tiny bit better!

I am no longer obese. I am officially overweight. My starting BMI was 41.2 and I am now 29.7 with a 70 lb weightloss! This was a major goal for me to reach!

*****HI JACK***** Julie--rather than turn it in, why don't you ask around here and see if any other frequent flyer would want it. It can be like a baton in a relay, as each person shrinks out of it, they can pass it on!!! ****Back to GREAT NSV's*****

OK So I've now lost enough weight that none of my clothes fit!! Wednesday night I went over to a friends house to take her some Jelly I made and she gave me 2 HUGE bags of clothes that do not fit her anylonger- she has lost about 25 pounds by dieting... Anyway..now I have a bunch of clothes that fit again!! I was SO EXCITED!! It was like Christmas came early for me!! Just had to share..

I visit the site every day as well. I am totally into it. I love hearing all the successes, challenges, NSVs, etc. It is life changing and a great support group.

Congrats on the NSV. Sometimes if we treat ourselves to a new outfit it really helps us to realize just how far we have come. Keep up the great work.

Yay!! Did you ride the big dipper? I have fond memories from childhood.... Congrats on a great NSV! Keep up the good work. :]

NSV = Non scale Victory I can wear all my old clothes again... I can fly without a seatbelt extender. They are things that just ARE - whether the scale is gracing me that day, or not.

Angela, congrats on the NSV. That is wonderful. Keep up the good work.

Go Deanna, Go Deanna! You're a rock star! And really sharing these NSV's is so important for the ones coming up behind us. It gives so much hope. I remember getting my CPAP and being depressed for weeks. The improved sleep helped with that though LOL. I packed mine away sooner than I should have, but getting rid of it was really important to me. Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I'm at the gym for lunch, doing my 'light day' workout. As usual at the gym, I'm just into myself, but I do notice that there's an obviously new lady there with one of the trainers. I'm happy to see this, as more clients mean they need less of -my- money, Anyway, part of my routine is a weighted back extension, 4 sets @ 15 reps carrying a 45 lb plate in my arms. It's really no big deal, and I like the stretch it produces in the back of the legs. So I'm running through my routine, already past those, when the newbie gets introduced to the machine. It's a little frightening at first, as you're levered out into space. She freaked a bit, and then did several unweighted reps. When she got off she said "oh, those are tough, I can never do those." The trainer pointed over at me and said "He's doing 45 lbs reps and doing great, and he was the same as you when he started here. You'll do great." So I've got a little swell-head going on at the moment. Faint praise matters when it's unexpected, and comes from a respected source :-)

To help answer this question i will share one of my nsv(non-sclae victories). Before banding my attitude was i would rather work out than have to give up my food but the other day as i was trying to motivate myself to go work out i thought "I'd rather just not eat and do liquids today." I did end up going to work out but to me that was a pretty big victory in changing my way of thinking.

Non-Scale Victory: Someone Noticed!!!
Oregondaisy replied to *susan*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's great Susan. I am happy for you. I haven't lost much from surgery because I was quick to get sleeved as soon as I started gaining. That never happens to me because of that. I know how good it feels though when people do notice, and I am happy for you that you got that NSV today! -
JamieLogical- love the second picture on your link where the person is standing on the scale and pressing a button! ROFL! (If I could get off the floor by myself, that is!). I think one of my NSV's would be doing what that picture shows!! ????????

Congrats to all! I just got back from vacation...the belt fit, I could even cinch it, and the tray table went down, and I could read my magazine while it was laying down flat on the table! It DOES feel great! NSV's are the best!

I started at size 24/26. Surgery was 9/3/2013. Today I tried on 2 different outfits in a size 20...and they FIT!!! OMG I am beyond excited!!! It's been sooooo long since I have worn that size!!! I honestly didnt even think they would fit!! I was extremely shocked and oh soooo ecstatic!! :D

Congrats on your NSV. It's a great feeling isn't it. I always keep a pair of jeans that are to small on the chair in my room where I can see them for motivation. Every couple weeks I try them on. When I can finally get them up, buttoned and zippered it is the best feeling.

Hey Vines! You are sooo right. This IS an NSV. It gives me a lot of confidence to know that when I do reach my goal, I am very capable of keeping it off. I have lost LOTS of weight in my life but never successfully kept it off. Maybe this time it will STAY OFF!! By the way, I am down 3 more lbs today! My Spa incentive is working!! When ever I think of eating junk, I just picture that Day Spa in my mind & I am so motivated that the junk just isn't worth it!! I AM GOING TO DO THIS!!!!!!!!

Met some friends at the beach today, complimented me on my weight loss....Thank You very Much.... Then they started mentioning what other people are saying about my weight loss...all positive mind you....nothing negative...keep up the good work. However, they said that one very nice woman we know, whenever my name comes up, will say....."Oh yea, Bob....he's just a shadow of the man he used to be" She also happens to be a Trainer at the gym I belong to.... At first I smiled, picturing her saying that....then it hit me...WHAT? THIS is what I'm SUPPOSED to be! THIS is NOT a Shadow! What I USED to be was NOT ME!! THAT was someone else! Everyone laughed, said No! What she really means is you're only 1/2 the man you used to be! Wait...that didn't sound right either.... Actually I do get it...just a good day at the beach with friends having a few beers and lots of laughs (at my expense) ....

Kristi, stop thinking of this in terms of dollars to pounds. That is a loosing proposition. Start tracking your NSVs. You spent that money to get your health back (nag nag nag).

I've been thinking about this, and I think it qualifies as an NSV. You have figured out how to MAINTAIN! Isn't that the name of the game? Learning how to maintain once you have lost? I think being able to take a break means that you have learned a valuable lesson. Congrats!

And here approaches my first set of Holidays with the band. So far, I am being very good.. anyone else having NSV moments when they pass the unbelievable amount of Halloween candies and treats?? I deliberately don't walk down candy aisles anymore as not to tempt myself.. but when I go grocery shopping now, there they are EVERYWHERE. I walk by them several times, and I hear them whisper my name. But alas, I say NO TO YOU CANDY!! Anyone else having these proud moments? :car:

That looks amazing! I'd love to ride a horse but until I shrink down to a healthy weight, it would be cruelty to animals! Maybe I will add that to my future NSV goals? Sent from my LGLS740 using the BariatricPal App

Congrats on your NSV! Please post pics as proof!
