  1. I decided in 2004 having wt loss surgery was going to be the 'thing' for me in my life with wt management. It took until 2008 to actually go to a class towards achieving this goal. It took another 14 months before I was granted a surgery date.I was a chubby girl, then my brother died and this broke our family apart. There was such sadness. My constant:My food. This was my friend and my enemy in one. Thus the journey began.Weight gain, weight loss, more gained, getting older, etc.I gave up dieting in 2002.I would never again go on a diet because of the fear of failure and dieting doesn't work! 2 years later I learned about gastric surgery and began my walk learning all about this process. I've lost 38 pounds since March hoping to help my surgery be easier.People have said:"why do surgery since you're successful with losing wt on your own?" My answer: because I've done this many times before and I'm not taking chances with my life now! Surgery was Nov 5, 2009-starting surgery wt.250 pounds

  2. Thanks. I'm at my doctor's goal weight for me, but I would love to be 10-15 pounds lighter. I'm hoping next year, after I get my foot fixed and can run again, maybe I'll get there. I'm having surgery this Tuesday, the 17th. I have found that running is the ONLY exercise that reshapes my body, including my stomach. As soon as I stopped running my stomach poofed back out. I did the Couch to 5K twice now, I LOVE that program. It takes a 100% NON-runner and gets you running a 5k in 9 weeks. There are a couple of podcasts out there to help you through it. I'm going to start it again after the first.

You should feel a little better after your fill. You're entering bandster hell. It's short lived, don't worry. If you have a good doctor who keeps up with your fills, you'll do great. It's all in the aftercare with the band.

Keep up the good work and keep in touch. I love to hear about your progress!

  3. Hi MommyJD, my surgery date is 12/4/09 and a year from now, I will be you. Well... sort of. :) I hope I do as well and am as successful with my weight loss as you have been (fingers crossed). Thank you for the inspiration.

  4. Your pics look great! You can already see a difference. This time next year, you won't even recognize yourself.

I noticed you started at my same weight and are so far on track with me. How tall are you? I'm 5'4.5".

  5. Now that I have finally lost a lot of weight, I've decided to take my newly found self-confidence and cheat on my boyfriend of 11+ years. He was working nights and I was alone and, well you know, not being taken care of sexually. I decided to try an adult web site and wouldn't you know, men are finding me attractive (not unlike my boyfriend, who has been there for me and supported me all these years) and wanting me, again not unlike my boyfriend, but I said ok to meeting someone and once I did, I knew right away that I would be sleeping with this new guy ( and did after having 1 drink at the bar) even before deciding to end my current relationship. 6. Thank You very much!!! I am so psyched! Ive lost this weight 12 times, Im ready to destroy!

  7. 2 Fly, I was wondering how do I make goals to achieve if I dont focus on numbers? I'm not focusing on Final number that I'm not worried about, right now I just have a goal of 310 to get a pedicure, 299 to go on a roadtrip with my kids....How can I Recognize Ive lost weight without the scale?

  8. Hey, I am basically at 6 months as well. On the 11th it will be 6 months. You are right, time has flown! Feel like yesterday I was just getting my band or preparing. I am 68 lbs down. I am working super hard at exercising and that has made my body change immensely. Look at my most recent picture. I am so fortunate that my body is strong, firm and I feel so much better. Not sure how far I am from goal, as I don't know at this point what my goal is. I will see as I continue to lose weight. Glad you are well...Rachel

  9. Cheri,

Good work. The 15th would be better for me, as my parents are in town thru then. I can meet anywhere really. I think a coffee shop is a good place. Where are they located? Maybe the Starbucks near Baybrook? Or perhaps one closer to you? I will weigh myself tomorrow. I feel like the weight loss is so slow now. I started walking last Monday with 2 other girls. We get up and meet at 6:00 am. We have been walking 1.8 miles in 30 minutes. Plan on doing it every M-F. Hope you are having good success with your band. Look forward to hearing from you.

    Janice

  10. Im pissed about my weight loss too! I had 2 fills and you're right, I also lost steadily before getting fills. Since I've gotten fills, I've only lost 3-4 lbs in 6 weeks. I plan to start to exercise more and longer, eat less, and drink more water.....We'll see

  12. u know i love u 2!!!!!!! ur absolutely right...i've become so focused on not gaining my weight back...i've stopped enjoying my loss...the fear is starting to over-come my joy...sometimes i can feel my body just can't do anymore exercising...so i'll take a day or 2 off at the gym...and then i freak out bcuz i feel like i've gained a pound...(which i don't)...i really need to take control of my fear and realize im going to be okay...

  13. I have been sick alot over the past few months. I found out I had nodular goiters and one was so large it caused breathing problems. I had it removed on October 30th and I am still recovering. Now I have a scar across my neck and wish that I could just heal. I have no energy to exercise and even though I am losing weight I sometimes feel like a failure because I can't exercise. I hope things change for me really soon!

  14. hi miss. Lisa how have you been long time no talk well everything is going great !!! I'm so excited because this is all about to happen soon =) and as fas as the pre op diet .. well lets just say that i don't have one and i have been taking advantage of it truthfully i have gained some but the Dr. just did not want me to be over not even 1lb from were i was when i first stared which is 245 and I'm still under that but i had taken that way too far eating lots of crap but starting 2morrow with the help of god i will get back on track i have all the tools just have been lazy and been milking it soo wish me luck =) .. so how are things going for you ?

  15. Hey Vikki!!! I feel your pain!!! I'm getting my fill 11/5 and hear everything will change after that! Like you, I'm not restricting myself with portion control. Second helpings? Yes, please! I've been skipping bread and trying to make good choices, but sometimes I am just out of control! I haven't gained anything either (whew! My doctor has a temper and I think he would be pissed!) I've been going to a gym 4-5 times a week and I workout hard for about 30 minutes. I walk on the treadmill, and do strength training. (However, just hearing about your schedule made me more exhausted.....how do you do it?!!!) It's got to be really hard trying to find that perfect high protein, low carb, no sugar, blah, blah blah meal when you're on the go like that!!! We're going to be fine! It's always great to hear from you!

  16. Thanks for the comment. My workout routine started as promising myself at least 30 minutes of cardio 3 times a week. If I did no more than that I wasn't allowed to get down on myself. I slowly started adding in weights. I would work on my abs and get a good routine for that. My cardio strarted getting boring so I would change it up with spinning and zumba. After about 8 months I had the gym make me a weight program to follow and I did that for about 8 weeks. It also got me more comfortable around more weight machines.

I have always stuck to my cardio 3 times a week, and one day I do arms, one day I do legs and one or two days a week I do my abs. I'm not hard core, but I give myself a good workout.

I started working out (again...I've started and stopped a million times before) about 6 weeks after surgery. Hard to believe it has been a year ago!

  17. Call 212 263 3166 to get to the weight loss center at NYU.

  18. Hi Stagin

I know exactly what your feeling, the weightloss is slow for me as well, I think I may have gained 2-3 pounds. I go back November, I hope I can get a feel. My number is 910-476-2194

  19. The pregnancy is a bit depressing. I worked so hard to lose the weight; I am really struggling with my growing belly... which REALLY upset's Dr. C. He said "I remember when you came in here and this was all fat... now it's all baby". I am so tired of people asking if it's twins... No I'm just fat! While I'm very fortunate not to have gained any weight. I already look like I have a basketball in my stomach and I'm only 10 weeks. The comments from my co-workers etc... is very disheartening. :( On a positive note... 8 lbs is FANTASTIC! Congrats! You are doing so wonderful. I will keep my fingers crossed and you in my prayers about your weight loss prior to his birthday party. Are you exercising? What are you eating? How are you feeling aside from the adjustment discomfort/sickness? I hope you are doing great and look forwarding to keeping in touch!

  20. Hey girl…I know it has been like forever. I am sure you are well in to the 30 or 40 pounds gone by now ;-). I on the other hand have finally gotten restriction as of a week now and am only down 22lbs total. I am so hoping that I will start to see a big difference. I had been struggling with the exercise as well between work, school and traffic but made sure I got at least an hour of cardio/weight lifting 3 times a week. I am taking a 2 week break before my next class starts so I have been doing some form of cardio everyday…even decided to try hiking...hehe. We definitely need to meet up…maybe on a Saturday we can go for a walk or something and do lunch. PG county has so many parks with trails and paths. I hope you are doing well and have restriction. I went to the doc yesterday and passed on a fill…its weird but all of a sudden I am tight and loving it…lol. Wait till u see us next summer ;-). Talk to you soon.

  21. Hi kellster Do you have the lapband and how much weight have you lost. An if so can we keep in touch i have the lapband for about a 1 year now an i need help

  22. How are you? getting close to goal? I have gained over 10 lbs back girl, I lost all will once I lost my insurance and job...

  23. Well thanks for the add! Great job on your weight loss! I'd say 30lbs in a month is something to be proud of! Mine is really not as bad as others I have spoken with. 2 meals are protein shakes which I adore! My fave is one I invented chocolate-cherry-banana YUM! The 3rd meal is soup, snacks I can have sf/ff yogurt, pudding, or jello. And the fact that I dropped 8 in 6 days, shoot I must be doing something right : )

I took my son for a walk before we ran errands earlier. It was only about 20 min. but hey i was walking as fast as my fat butt would let me and pushing his 26 lbs in his car, lol. Well I have already had a c-section so I don't figure this pain to be near that. My goal is 145 or a little lower and I am only almost 5'3". So I am really going to try to push being stricter on this last week. I go get bloodwork done on friday. How long would you say I would have to go without picking up my 18 month old?

    HUGS, Starla
