Always seeing myself the same fat girl

10 weeks~!!! congratulations on your weight loss! You deserve the credit for your hard work and you definitely deserve the compliments. I agree with the above posts. It will take time for your mind to catch up to see your physical appearance. Comments and compliments on your weight loss are going to continue until your in maintenance mode. The new attention can be a bit unnerving. Try giving them comment or compliment a scale (1) appropriate - acknowledge the NSV. Smile and say thank you. (2) Hilarious - Enjoy the laughter (Please post any funny things that people say to you) (3) Inappropriate - (a) Creepy (B) People intended it to be a compliment but, It comes out as an insult (c) a straight up insult. - Smile say have a nice day and walk away ( In your head say kiss my ***) Never waste your energy on negative people. Surround yourself with the supportive people that have your back in life.
  4. AWESOME! Congrats on your NSV It's always such a great feeling to have someone outside the lap band bubble see and comment on all our hard work

    One year update

Gingerbug, A year does make a big difference. I do not see my weight loss on myself except when I look at pictures, then I see it. but looking in a mirror or looking down at myself, I still see the old me. My Laundry NSV is when I fold my underwear... Not Tent-N-Awning anymore. 40ismyyear. congrads.... How wonderful. scale Victories are just as important. I know this band IS the single best thing I have ever done for myself. Self pay.. yep, and I would pay it all over again... Double it even. I AM WORTH IT. Again Congrads.. I need to set my final goal. How did you set yours? Lois

    NSV

Ain't NSV's the best!!! The scale moving down is great but the NSV you don't expect puts it in prespective! CONGRATS!
  10. So we decided to walk in a mall tonight. We head to the food court to get dinner and I have to go to the bathroom. My husband is going to wait for me. I come back in four minutes and he says, "I'm really sorry, but I ate without you" and shows me four toothpicks of free food they gave him as he strolled by the various stalls there. Yup, four pieces of chicken and the man is too full for dinner. I know people thought we were crazy when we both burst out laughing. We went to get me some chicken from a thai place there and it took a while for them to understand we didn't want rice or noodles just chicken. Then we made them put half the chicken back because we would never have finished it. And then we didn't even want a drink! We were no fun, I tell you and dinner was $4.24. For both of us. You can relate, can't you? hasn't life changed?

    NSV!

so i've been on a stall for the last 6 days and i've been ridiculously disappointed and down! today we were at my brother-in-laws house watching the football game and all of a sudden i realized i was sitting with my legs crossed. not just crossed but ALL THE WAY CROSSED!!!! i can't even remember the last time i've been able to cross my legs. stupid victory i know but my victory all the same!!!! helps a little with the stall!!!
  12. Yesterday I made my modeling debut....LOL! We had a spring fashion show for work on business casual wear and I modeled for The Limited. This is something I would never,,,, EVER do before my VSG - but since losing 56 pounds I am gaining confidence! Not to mention it was a ton of fun! Here are a few photos.... One at the salon after hair and makeup (yes we were pampered!) The other me - doing my best Tyra Banks impression! Do they have a Americas Top Model for Middle Aged Women???? What fun!
  13. I need some :help: and hope someone can lend me some advice. Please let me know if you have tried any appetite suppresents and if they work I went to my dr in Jan to start my WL journey. She put me on some diet pills that made me GAIN weight - I think Water weight since I felt majorly bloated after 2 weeks on these. I went back to her after deciding to get banded. She sent me to start doing pre-op testing to make sure there were no medical reasons why I gained weight. During the tests, she thought I had Type II diabetes, which was just borderline and she said would probably fix itself if I lost weight and exercised. She is all for me being banded BUT I am learning patience early young gwasshoper! I set my surgery up for April 21, 2006. Got all my ducks in a row, (or so I thought) and had to move my surgery back to May 5, 2006 due to a financing glitch I found out a few weeks ago about. I got some test results back and my PCP sent me to a urologist last week, he made me put my surgery on hold :think because tests from 2 & 3 years ago showed I have a mass on my right kidney. He's not sure what it is, could be a vessel crossing that was moved due to enlargement or tumor etc, he said he wasn't second guessing anyone until he did more testing. He set it up where on April 21st I am having a specialized CT done, then MRI next week. I go back to him on May 2nd for all the test results and to see where we go from here. I rescheduled my surgery for the 3rd time now, to May 26th, and have a feeling I am going to be one of those who cannot go forward with banding for awhile. I started a lifestyle change plan on March 31st and started exercising 4-5 times weekly on April 2nd along with high Protein, low carb eating. My problem is I STARVE!!!! lol I can eat something, usually not alot though and then be hungry in an hour. I do mean starve, not head hungry - having a major headache, the shakes, nausea and almost passing out starving. I want to take some appetite suppressents but have no clue where to start or what is effective since I haven't dieted or exercised in 3 or 4 years. TY all, I will ask my pcp when I go back and see if she can prescribe something else until I am banded :plane: Anyone know where I can buy Forelli brand clothing, also how true to size does this brand run? the tag says Made in Turkey RN 73960 I'm asking, because I have a pair of cargo shorts that I haven't been able to fit in for 3+ years until this morning and they are a size 20 :clap2: I know I am losing without being banded yet - I havent weighed in almost 2 weeks (had a few slip ups the past week lol) and this is my NSV for the day, ok and the fact I will look human again instead of "cousin it" after visiting my hair dresser today.

    1st NSV - 15 Days Post Op

That is AWESOME girl!!! I had my first NSV today too! Wore a pair of shorts I couldn't get into at the start of summer
  18. I understand it. Especially in the earlier days, when it's harder to just drink liquids and the surgery is so "fresh." I feel like the surgery was drastic, the results should be drastic. I know better...I took a year to lose 85 lbs with the band. It's also a bit about the worry, too. Worry that this won't work, worry that I'll stay hungry even after moving to solid foods, etc. So looking at the numbers on the scales is a way to offset some of that worry and the more they move, the more comforting. I've been frustrated that the scales haven't moved since I've been home. I'm going to try to let go of that today and remember that they ARE DOWN from pre-op. I don't know what I weighed on my home scales before leaving, but they're down at least 5-10 lbs (in about 2 weeks). So I need to remind myself that I AM happy with that, I'm HAPPY that I'm wearing some blue jeans that I wouldn't wear before the surgery, etc. Being unhappy just makes me want to eat more. So I have to focus on the NSVs of recovery, those jeans, etc. So I don't think it's negativity at all...I think it's worry and frustration..just plain ol' being SCARED.
  19. Oh AND I was telling someone else this too but last week I had another NSV! Those dang bleachers. Back when I was fat there is NO WAY I would try to squeeze my big self past people on those things. Now I have no problem walking my skinny no butt having a** right past them to get a good seat! Right down the middle! Not one shit given!
  20. @@katladee Thank you so much! I did wear those legging, out of the house and in public and everything! First time in public. I think this summer I'm going to pass those boots of. Like the traveling pants on boots. They were my first NSV. The one I wanted the most and now they're too big around the legs but I still love them. They need to go to someone else on this journey who will love them as much as I do/did.
  21. @@Elode, Congratulations on yet another NSV! You have so many of them, and I am thrilled that you are able to recognize and appreciate them, and that you share them with us! How uplifting and hopeful! Congrats.

    Finally have an NSV

Dave, I know how that is. I am one size from my goal too. Congrats on the NSV.
  23. So was reading and posting to a thread last night about NSV and lots of us were saying how we've been going through our closet and how we've pulled so many items out that are now too big for us. That got me to thinking maybe we should start a thread where those who have clothes they've "shrunk" out of would like to donate to those who need something in a specific size because they are "shrinking" out of the size they have. Anyone interested in something like that? I am sending a box of my clothes to another member on this board. I don't know of any consignment shops in my area and I ate to just give them to goodwill when they are in such good shape -so I would much rather give them to someone who can use them and then pass them along when they are too big for them too. Just a thought!
  24. I think that's amazing. To feel normal. To not stand out and to just fit in Aside from health benefits it's one of the most important nsv you can have. Congratulations
