  1. Hey girl, just wanted to say that my doc did away with the 'mushies' stage just for the reason you stated...you can chew almost anything into a mushie. Also during Bandster Hell (before you get restriction) it's all about healing. If you're drinking more protein shakes (or eating more mushies) to curb your hunger, it's OK...they go straight into your stomach (many gain weight during this period). When I got to solids I found I actually didn't have to chew much at all...in fact I got hungry faster if I chewed everything into a pulp before restriction. Hang in there...I think it's different for everyone and part of this process is figuring out what works for you. Good luck! -BG

  2. Hi Dionne!

    27.5 lbs.!!! That is awesome!

I got my third fill about a week ago and I am definitely restricted now too! I lost 4 lbs. in the first week following the fill! I think this will get things rolling again for me, as my weight loss had all but stopped too! I have lost 28 lbs. to date! We seem to be neck in neck with our progress!! It's been interesting adjusting to the new restriciton, but I am doing pretty good. I have a much harder time eating breads, muffins and buns now. I mostly avoid them. I have to stick wtih protein shakes for breakfast, because it is just too tight in the mornings for foods. But by lunch time, I can eat regular food. Thank goodness, because I am not real big on those shakes! I just found out a few days ago that I am going to my a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding in April! So, now I have even more incentive to lose this weight! Take care and let me know how you are doing with your new fill as well!

    Shelley : )

  3. Thanks BG! Yes solid proteins are staying down nicely now. I am on Day 3 of LOW CARBS and I feel pretty good, I have more control again. I have tried to low carb pre-band and I lost 40lbs but gained most of it back soon after. I hoping now with the band that it wont come back. So far so good 3 days in. I happy to be back on the band wagon. :)

  4. 70 pounds is AWESOME!!!!!!!!! its hard to compare ur loss with other peoples...there r so many factors that weight in...i have lost 128 pounds...please don't let that discourage u...70 pounds is excellent!!!!!!

  5. Hello. I just joined this site today and oh my gosh, you look so great! You are definently going to be my inspiration. I had my lapband surgery done on Oct 17, 2008. Can you tell me the amount of weight you have lost so far? I have lost 71 pounds and I am just wondering if this is a good compared to others. You are so beautiful, you have to be so happy!

  6. Hey Carrie! I'm doing great. Enjoying the warm weather. I've basically been living at my brother's house because he has a pool. I have this Friday off work and i'm going to spend all day there. How are you doing? How's the weight loss coming along?

  7. Thanks Keith, and congrats to you on the 100# mark – that is a huge milestone. I think the weight training and protein have been key in getting the BF where I want it. I am about due to get tested again and think I am closer to 13% now. Can you believe it? Me at 13% BF, I still think it’s unbelievable. Truth be told though, some people are saying I look a little too skinny – which is sort of true. I haven’t been able to tone up all of my muscles fast enough. So while it’s true I have very little fat left, I still have quite a bit of work to do on the muscles. It’s all good though, I love going to the gym now.

  9. Hi, I saw your post. We are being banded on the same day... and are nearly the same weight and BMI (you must be 5'3'). Do you have a surgery time set yet on 12/4? I don't. I hope we can keep in touch!

  10. sometimes i wish i could make myself go back on liquids only. I wish i could lose more weight! im sooooo frustrated! i have been going to the gym and still no weight loss!!! oh well enough about me LOL how are you dealing with the liquid only phase?

  11. I went to Mexicali for a slight unfill on Friday and saw Dr. Campos. He is the asst. surgeon and he is the one who does the fills. He had the sleeve procedure done just before I got my band and he has lost so much weight. Everybody there is really nice. I believe you will be very happy you chose Dr. Aceves.

  12. Thank you so much for the comment! My starting weight was 280 and right now I weigh about 187. Right now my goal is 170 but it depends on what it looks like when I get there. You can message me for tips but small portions several times a day and in the gym is what I do!

  13. hey i just wanted to tell you how gorgeous you look , how much have you lost and what was your starting weight , thanks so much hun

  14. wow you are gorgeous and i was wondering what your starting weight and ending weight was ?

  15. I decided in 2004 having wt loss surgery was going to be the 'thing' for me in my life with wt management. It took until 2008 to actually go to a class towards achieving this goal. It took another 14 months before I was granted a surgery date.I was a chubby girl, then my brother died and this broke our family apart. There was such sadness. My constant:My food. This was my friend and my enemy in one. Thus the journey began.Weight gain, weight loss, more gained, getting older, etc.I gave up dieting in 2002.I would never again go on a diet because of the fear of failure and dieting doesn't work! 2 years later I learned about gastric surgery and began my walk learning all about this process. I've lost 38 pounds since March hoping to help my surgery be easier.People have said:"why do surgery since you're successful with losing wt on your own?" My answer: because I've done this many times before and I'm not taking chances with my life now! Surgery was Nov 5, 2009-starting surgery wt.250 pounds

  16. Thanks. I'm at my doctor's goal weight for me, but I would love to be 10-15 pounds lighter. I'm hoping next year, after I get my foot fixed and can run again, maybe I'll get there. I'm having surgery this Tuesday, the 17th. I have found that running is the ONLY exercise that reshapes my body, including my stomach. As soon as I stopped running my stomach poofed back out. I did the Couch to 5K twice now, I LOVE that program. It takes a 100% NON-runner and gets you running a 5k in 9 weeks. There are a couple of podcasts out there to help you through it. I'm going to start it again after the first.

You should feel a little better after your fill. You're entering bandster hell. It's short lived, don't worry. If you have a good doctor who keeps up with your fills, you'll do great. It's all in the aftercare with the band.

Keep up the good work and keep in touch. I love to hear about your progress!

  17. Hi MommyJD, my surgery date is 12/4/09 and a year from now, I will be you. Well... sort of. :) I hope I do as well and am as successful with my weight loss as you have been (fingers crossed). Thank you for the inspiration.

  18. Your pics look great! You can already see a difference. This time next year, you won't even recognize yourself.

I noticed you started at my same weight and are so far on track with me. How tall are you? I'm 5'4.5".

  19. Now that I have finally lost a lot of weight, I've decided to take my newly found self-confidence and cheat on my boyfriend of 11+ years. He was working nights and I was alone and, well you know, not being taken care of sexually. I decided to try an adult web site and wouldn't you know, men are finding me attractive (not unlike my boyfriend, who has been there for me and supported me all these years) and wanting me, again not unlike my boyfriend, but I said ok to meeting someone and once I did, I knew right away that I would be sleeping with this new guy ( and did after having 1 drink at the bar) even before deciding to end my current relationship. Continued...

  20. Thank You very much!!! I am so psyched! Ive lost this weight 12 times, Im ready to destroy!

  21. 2 Fly, I was wondering how do I make goals to achieve if I dont focus on numbers? I'm not focusing on Final number that I'm not worried about, right now I just have a goal of 310 to get a pedicure, 299 to go on a roadtrip with my kids....How can I Recognize Ive lost weight without the scale?

  22. Hey, I am basically at 6 months as well. On the 11th it will be 6 months. You are right, time has flown! Feel like yesterday I was just getting my band or preparing. I am 68 lbs down. I am working super hard at exercising and that has made my body change immensely. Look at my most recent picture. I am so fortunate that my body is strong, firm and I feel so much better. Not sure how far I am from goal, as I don't know at this point what my goal is. I will see as I continue to lose weight. Glad you are well...Rachel

  23. Cheri,

Good work. The 15th would be better for me, as my parents are in town thru then. I can meet anywhere really. I think a coffee shop is a good place. Where are they located? Maybe the Starbucks near Baybrook? Or perhaps one closer to you? I will weigh myself tomorrow. I feel like the weight loss is so slow now. I started walking last Monday with 2 other girls. We get up and meet at 6:00 am. We have been walking 1.8 miles in 30 minutes. Plan on doing it every M-F. Hope you are having good success with your band. Look forward to hearing from you.

    Janice

  24. Im pissed about my weight loss too! I had 2 fills and you're right, I also lost steadily before getting fills. Since I've gotten fills, I've only lost 3-4 lbs in 6 weeks. I plan to start to exercise more and longer, eat less, and drink more water.....We'll see
