  1. Very excited this morning. Good things have been coming my way all week. I finally got over my stall (which ended up being dehydration) and have entered "onederland".  I have gone from a 40J to a 36H (start weight at 256). And to wrap it up even more nicely, my husband had an very successful surgery for his battle with cancer this Friday. Very excited and happy and a million other things.

Congrats on breaking the stall and identifying the dehydration. But, more importantly, praise God for your hub's successful cancer surgery!!!

Yes, great news all around for you!

  2. I am almost two months out and starting to stall... Is that normal??

    1. Newme17

      Newme17

Yep. You'll have to get used to it if you weigh yourself all the time. This is why I don't. But don't worry, even if the scale doesn't show a loss, I can bet your inches are going down. So it's really not a stall in my opinion. Just follow orders and youll be fine. Remember that it takes about 6 months for total healing, so I hear. There will be ups and downs, just take them like a champ. 😁

Yes, I have found that I often go a bit of time with out losing pounds on the scale, but then all of a sudden I drop several pounds in one or two days. Even when I'm not seeing the numbers move, I do notice that my clothes are still fitting differently so I'm still getting smaller.

My nutritionist said most people lose that way, if you were to graph it, it would look like descending stairs rather than a diagonal line.

  3. 9/12 - Went to the trainer to new a training regiment. The first was just cardio and light lifting to get me smaller and my body to be a lot more flexible. Now, is the real stuff. I have a HIIT workout 3 days out of the week. Heavy cardio of 30/30 for 45 minutes and a light elliptical day.

    Monday: HIIT

    Tuesday: 30/30 Cardio

    Wednesday: HIIT

    Thursday: Light Elliptical

    Friday: HIIT

She says now its time to get to the real stuff. She knows that I want my body to look like and she created this to start me off. I have 4 weeks of it. She also added room to modify the work out if I am really hurting to do one less set. I am just so excited. This a work out that she does but her's is way more intense and done a faster pace. Will be increasing my calorie intake from 775 to 1000 calories on these HIIT days. I will need to make sure that I am eating enough to sustain my body.

9/17 - My mom decided to buy me a Pandora Bracelet. Lol she was not prepare for the cost of it and told me, "Happy Birthmas" lol. She told me to add charms and numbers for every goal I achieved. She told me she was proud of me and was so happy for all my hard work.

@StrivingforbetterThank you. She really was excited and she is awesome. I did it this week and it was killer but I really enjoyed it. It was something new and once you get the workout high you are good.

@Newme17 That workout is amazing. This plan is guaranteed to kick my butt and hopefully make me stronger. I say every one should wear their goals. I love that it is a reminder of how far I have come. I have a bangle coming that shows my new hobby of weight lifting. I plan on putting those charms on this bracelet as well.

Also my Fitbit Blaze finally died. My heart was hurting. However, I got 50% off the charge 2 because I never used my Warranty lol. I cannot complain. It has been an awesome week.

  4. Just had my one month post surgical appointment - all is going well. My surgeon worked to get me to not be upset with the three week stall that she turned into two weeks. All in all I'm happy with the surgery but I did the surgery to get down a 100 pounds not ten. So back to my water, protein and walking hopefully the stall will end soon.

  5. I originally had the Lap Band in 2009. By 2016 I had lost 100 pounds and had reached my goal weight. In October of 2016 I was in a car accident and my surgeon had to do an emergency surgery to remove my band because it had rotated and was restricting all fluids from going down. I have spent the past 6 months jumping through every hoop and request that Molina has requested in order to get a revision surgery to have the Sleeve procedure done. Next week will be my final dietician appointment and we will send in the required paperwork to request authorization for surgery. I pray that Molina approves this surgery. I have regained 87 pounds since my accident. I'm discouraged but determined to get back to goal.

  6. @Apple1 You are my inspiration !!!! I'm 1-week post -op and I,m down 10 pounds and 17 lbs from pre-op for a total of 27 lbs.OMG . I will continue to visit your page for encouragement and positive example of perseverance. YOU ROCK  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:780_sparkling_heart:

You are so sweet @Ydiva1 thank you so much for your kind words!

you are rocking your sleeve!! Just keep believing in yourself and you can do anything. When you hit a rough patch just keep doing what you know you need to do and you will conquer all obstacles.

I truly believe we have the power to change our destinies. Blessings to you!

  7. Constipation horrible. 2 weeks out

    i take any suggestions! 😫

    1. Michelle'sgarden

      Michelle'sgarden

Did you try colace? I read on one of the boards this was approved. My doctor told me to drink more water and walk more. Also to make sure I was getting 3-6 grams of fiber - I'm not a doctor so take my words with caution.

    2. coyote

      coyote

Hi Sandy057, I also had bad constipation at two weeks. I'll echo Michelle'sgarden and suggest to drink more water and move around. Even now at almost 7 weeks out I have a bowel movement twice a week. This is probably our new normal now :) It will get better once you start phasing in solid food (I assume you're still on liquid diet - I had the opposite effect during that phase!)

    3. Gen17

      Gen17

I took a stool softener and that worked a bit for me. I was also told about this tea called smooth tea that helps!

  8. So here I am at one week post op and feeling great. Even the gas problems disappeared. Yesterday and today I got back into my 30 minute walk routine feels great. Tried on some clothes I wore to work end of June and they don't fit! Probably because of the 40 pounds I lost pre op. But either way best decision I've made in a long time.

    1. Gen17

      Gen17

Isn't it a great feeling? I just did my first overhaul of my closet and half of the stuff is being donated. The other stuff I had from when I was smaller and looks even better now! Great job and keep up the good work!

  9. Sold my soul to the Optifast Gods this passed Monday. My wallet is $400 lighter and I have less than two weeks until I start drinking 7 shakes a day and no food.

They said that I could have 1 cup total of either Peppers, lettuce, celery or cucumbers.... and that I was allowed to have sugar free - calorie free drinks and popsicles. But it is no doubt going to be three weeks of misery. on the 22nd day I will have to start my day before surgery stuff. I just hope it goes by fast.

    1. nursejackie

      nursejackie

I did Optifast years ago before I decided to do this surgery. I finally stopped because I hit a stall and was paying like 1000 a month between the drinks and appointments. While I was on it I felt surprisingly full. It was not that hard to stick to. I think because of all the protein. I lost a lot of weight too ( gained it all back but whatever lol ). You can do it . Good luck.

Some surgeons use Optifast for their preop liquid diets.

      Good luck, cruelirony!

    3. cruelirony

      cruelirony

@Apple203 : My surgeon is requesting me to do Optifast (7 shakes/day) for the 21 days prior to my surgery.

  10. I think my last update was early July and I was stuck on a long plateau.  Well since then things have been interesting.  I spent a week in the hospital with an acute Pancreatitis attack, followed by something going horribly wrong with my chemistry causing my ankle to balloon (it was not gout).  I have been on steroids for the last week and in a huge walking boot.  Makes work very very difficult.  That being said - the plateau broke - and I am down to 259 - nine pounds from goal 1....  What a rollercoaster ride it has been.

    1. shedo82773

      shedo82773

That stuff is horrible!! I have had it like 4 times. Do you know what treatment they have? NOT a darn thing!! I was told that if I wanted to be admitted for it I could go on a clear diet and ride it out. Plus pain management. That is it. The last time I stayed home and went on clear liquids. It worked but...as you know it is o painful!!!

    2. luckylimey

      luckylimey

Shedo82773 - I was not given a choice - when I went to the ER they told me I was being admitted to CCU. My Lipase was 3600 - 8mg morphine every 4 hours for 5 days + zophran. Glad it's all over right now.... I don't think I could have rode out the pain on my own - never felt anything like that in my life.

    3. MusicMom1384

      MusicMom1384

That sounds awful 😫😫😫 I was in the hospital last week for a kidney stone... the pain was worse than childbirth. I think all the medicine stalled my weight loss but wow, thank God for morphine!!! Hope you are feeling better.

  11. Haven't been here for a while.. So let me catch you all up.  As you all know I lost my band in March.  Still hanging around 150... but I do need to get to the gym.  Still in the 4-6 size jeans...

I quit my job in Houma and moved to Madison, Ms.  Wasn't expecting to get a job so quick.  Went on Three interviews on a Friday and got Three job offers.  So I took the best one for me.

  12. Noob question...how long does it take to get that hang of how much your stomach can hold?  I've vomited twice this week and I have no idea if that's normal, excessive, etc.  What say you, experienced sleevers?  Am I not separating the time between my liquids and food enough?  Please let me know your thoughts.

  13. Yesterday was 3 months post-op. I have lost 35 lbs since my surgery and 82 lbs since August of last year. I am so happy that I decided to do this for myself. I am healthier than I have been in years and I feel amazing.

I was eating a low carb diet since December of last year and recently decided to transition to a whole foods plant based diet after reading the book Proteinaholic and  doing my own research. I have an incredible support system for this change as my circle of friends from church are all vegans/vegetarians. At this point my daily carb consumption has gone from 30g to about 55-70g and my protein has dropped from 80-85 down to 50-55. My blood sugar control has remained perfect despite the increase in complex carbs. I continue to avoid sugar, white flour, bread, white rice, and pasta.

My weight loss has actually picked up this past week, but this may just be a coincidence. I feel really good. The only slight negative I can note is am a little more drained after a run and have been unable to run my long distance of 3 miles yet. I have been sticking to 2-2.5 miles for now. I think my body is still adjusting to the change.

I am going to post my photo because a couple of people have requested before and after pics.  It is hard looking back, but it does help show us just how far we have come and what a difference a year can make.

  14. This week my recovery has finally turned a corner.. I'm finally able to "eat" and drink a bit more than a sip.. I am less tired since I'm able to get in some nutrition.. finally feeling really good about my sleeve.. The first 3 weeks were so hard, I lived with regret.

  16. Feeling really good 3 months post op and halfway to the finish line. I have been hitting the gym pretty consistently at 5:30am :P usually dragging myself in yawing like a fool. I try to get exercise in about 3-4 days a week. I make sure I do a lot of walking on the treadmill as well as lifting weights. This journey isn't over and I am still pushing hard.

    1. Apple1

      Apple1

that's awesome. I get up at 5:00 am to run before going to work. I knew I would make excuses after work. It becomes a habit after a while.

How close are you to your goal weight? I have about 23 lbs to go.

    2. Aysla

      Aysla

Yes it does I really like it, I make it my time. I am 50 lbs away from my goal. Not sure if I set it unrealistic but I am shooting for 135 since I am 5'3"

  17. YAHOO. Just got cleared like minutes ago, to take the Lakewood classes in Colorado. Next 6 weeks, here I come!!!

  18. Joined BariatricPal for support and eventually share my story. I am currently waiting on approval from my insurance in order to have the surgery. All my requirements have been fulfilled, so I'm just waiting and trying to stay positive in the meantime. They say another 6 weeks until I should hear something. Hoping I make it don't gain anymore weight in the process.

    1. Berry78

Thank you. Sorry I hadn’t logged on because I wasn’t sure Surgery was going to happen. I finally have a date after months of waiting.

  19. So, my last prerequisite appt went very well. The NUT answered a bunch of questions I had. I agreed with all. I lost 2 lbs. yay! Still have to work on my two bites of protein, one bite veggie deal. Of course, sipping water. The best part is that this office is so organized that all the paperwork will be submitted tomorrow. The lady in front went over all the prerequisites with me. All were finished and reports were attached. So, I expect to hear something from my insurance company next week (insurance says it won't take long for an answer as long as all papers are submitted). Then the office will call me and schedule my pre-op appt/start of my diet. I will have to do two protein shakes and one meal daily. No snacks. My one meal will be restricted to what they allow. Now, I just have to wait for the approval. Feels surreal to be at this point but I'm so glad it's almost here!

  20. Tomorrow will be three weeks since my band removal.  So far i've managed to maintain my weight and even went down a pound or two.  So far so good.

This weekend is a big one....  I'm flying to Ga to meet Tim's family.  I was supposed to go the weekend of the 24th... but the emergency band removal killed that.  So we are going for Easter.  i'm a bit nervous.... apparently his mom likes none of her daughter in laws and never liked any of Tim's gf's or his wife of 21 years.....

So ya'll pray for me... hehe

    i'll update on Monday

    have a Happy Easter Everyone

  21. Last appt is next Wed.  The center won't schedule surgery until approval comes from insurance.  Booo!  Says it may take up to 10-15 business days.  Guess I'll be calling my insurance so often to make sure someone is doing his/her job.  Once received they schedule pretty fast...but if I have to have a pre-op of two weeks then it looks as if I have another two weeks after approval.  I'm guessimating mid May for my surgery; which would be just about 4 months from start.

Although I haven't gone, it doesn't really seem to be too much of a problem at the moment but I will definitely look into the options you guys suggest. Not sure if I can add anything at this stage but will call my surgeon and ask. Thanks girls.

  24. 5 days post plication op. I've lost another 2 kgs since yesterday, a total of 10kgs (22lbs) in 2.5 weeks including pre op diet period, so excited. I'm at 89 kgs (196lbs) with my goal weight being 70kgs (154lbs) Spoke to my dietitian about soups instead of shakes and she was very helpful. She's happy for me to eat any soup that is thin enough to drink through a straw with no lumps or pieces in it. This has made a huge difference because I seem to have lost my sweet tooth (hope it lasts) and was finding the overly sweet shakes hard going. Pain has subsided now with just the odd stomach twinge now and then. All incisions are looking good and pain free. Feeling very optimistic.

Great news. I'm hoping for that kind of pre-op weight loss too. Keep up the good work!

  25. One month out from surgery! Still stalled...(thought I wasn't - it was just a tease). Still, 15 pounds in one month is not bad, and the inches are definitely coming off. I may be able to get into a smaller size as my biggest clothes are just barely hanging onto me now.
