Eh I'm depressed lately. Still surgery weight. The day after surgery when I got home I had bloated up another 10 lbs from IVs and crap..about 3rd or 4th day out those went byebye and now I am stuck st 363 again and not moving. All of the other november banders are losing even ones that were banded after me and I'm still stuck...but of course I don't think any of them lost 56 lbs before either. I think my body is in shock...plus it's still swollen and bloaty.

Hi Dab! I am from Pennsylvania. I havent found a fellow Pennsylvanian yet on this site!lol I saw you are from Missouri, right? Anyway, DIG, DIG, DIG!! This is not a skinny beauty pageant site, it is a wls! We need those pics for inspiration! My brother is now looking into the band and I would love to share your story with him. He weighs 490#. I don't want him to get discouraged by all the 100# to lose people on this site! I have to say Dab, you should be thrilled to have lost so much weight and want to SHOW IT OFF, not be embarrassed. Talk to you later.

I am doing 2 miles on the treadmill and 5 miles on the bike and a few weights. I am Back to work for Monday:(. Are you better with drinking water. Hi Guys. I am a 39 y/o married mother of two. I am 5'9 and weigh 285. I am now an insulin dependant diabetic with high blood pressure also due to my weight. I have finally decided to have some surgery to help me. I have not been to see a Dr. yet, I have only looked at different options online. I live in a small rural town and will have to drive a little over an hour to see any kind of bariatric physicians so I wanted to somewhat know what I want to do before I see the physician. Could one of you tell me why you chose lap banding over the other surgical alternatives?

I use, Northwest Fill Management providing affordable lap-band fills for weight loss surgery patients., they are wonderful ladies who do excellent jobs on fills and info. Without them I would of been lost since no one in this area would help me cause I was banded in Mexico! They are in Arlington wa. but travel to Spokane about every 6-8 weeks. And they arent very expensive. I have go to their ofice in Arlington too when I needed a fill and missed them in Spokane. Who is doing your surgery? Good luck and if theres anything I can help you with just drop me a line!

Hi Teresa - Thanks for your email. I really enjoyed reading it.
We are very in-sink on so many topics. I will continue to try different types of foods and drinks because you are right I need to get ready mentally. People say changing the way you think of food is the hardest part. So I'm still doing good even if I don't lose weight every month. I will be starting up at the gym this month so I'm sure that will help.
When I started all this I thought OH! six months is so long. I finally excepted it and was happy I had to go thru the 6months with the nutritionist. I have learned so much. But when I found out a few weeks ago that I would have another three months before surgery I was in shock. I'll be fine, its just that I wasn't prepared to hear that. I really thought it was just a few weeks for surgery after the 6th month weigh-ins. Sorry I had to vent a little. In the end I will stick with it as long as it takes however many months.
So It looks as if we may be having our surgery around the same time. I will stay in touch with you over the months to see how things are going. Please feel free to write me the good the bad and the ugly since I'll be going thru the same stuff.
take care.

Hi Jean:
Man those protien shakes are killing my stomach and my BM system is being thrown for a loop. I need to find something I can tolerate. Right now, the surgeon asked me not to lose any more weight, because my BMI dropped to 40.1. They want to wait for insurance approval before I start the pre-op diet.

That sounds like your sweet spot to me! I lost the weight being on liquids for 9 days after the too tight fill. I have gained some of it back - which is expected when you go on real food again. I don't have very much restriction right now at all. So stinkin weird. I had restriction before at 3CC, and now I don't feel like I have any! I am going to wait a couple of weeks (money reasons primarily) then go in for .1 I hope that helps.
I hate that time of the month. Sucks

Hey Jardenia,
So far the pre-op hasn't been too bad. It is pretty amazing that once I got the sugar and carbs out of my system how my hunger or should I say apatite diminished.
As I said I have been researching for years and have learned so much along the way. There is another lap band group that I belong to and really enjoy. It is smartbandsters@yahoo.com. I have also found that everything that is on these boards is not necessarily golden so confirm your facts. There is a very helpful and informative book written by Jessie Ahronni.(sp) She is a lap band nurse and has had her band for ten years so she knows her stuff. I got the book on Amazon. The title is Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding: Achieving Permanant Weight Loss with Minimally Invasive Surgery.
I have had all of my pre-op testing and am counting the days. We are going to spend the night in Richmond on Wednesday the night before surgery and Thursday night the night of surgery. We live beween and hour and an hour and a half away so the Doc said I should stay close the first night since I am a "Drive Thru."
Hope your insurance will cover everything for you and won't require that you jump thru many hoops.
I have done some pics but will wait till there is a decernable difference to post them. I am trying to put my pic on my profile but haven't been able to figure out how to do it yet.
Keep me posted on your progress. Good luck!

Hey Pete, I hope you're doing well. Me, I'm still learning to eat. I'm not loosing any more weight since I went to the mushies. I'm hoping my new christmas present/treadmill will start that scale moving again. How far are you walking a day? Are you outside or on a treadmill? You have a great advantage with weather being in Fla. but it still gets dark early in the winter. Thanks for the updates!

Hey Donna! Thanks for checking on me. I've just been super busy with Christmas coming up and haven't been online much. I haven't been doing so hot on weight loss lately. As soon as Christmas is over, it's back to the gym...pronto. Thanks again for checking on me. Talk to you later.

Hi there! My name is Kim and I am from Elk Grove. I saw that you had your surgery in Modesto and wanted to contact you. Congrats on your success with the lapband surgery!
I am in the "considering" stage right now and have asked for a bariatric referral from my primary physician. I have a BMI of 35.5 w/ 2 comorbids so I guess I barely make it. I really am hoping this is for me. I have struggled sooo long with my weight and I am so depressed about it!
May I ask you how your recovery has been? Have you had a lot of nausea or vomiting? I am concerned about that part!
Any input you can give me is so appreciated!! Happy Holidays!

Cogratulations!! I can't wait until my surgery date Jan 7th. I was wonderng how you are doing now? I'm almost the same weight and age as you and I have 3 boys. My youngest being 1 1/2 yrs old. He's a big boy, about 30 pds and I'm wondering how long it will be before I can pick him up. I have stairs in my house which he's not big enough to go down yet. Hope you're doing well, keep us posted on your progress, I would love to know what to expect.
