Ok, this may seem like too much information, but I need to know if I'm the only one.... While on the two week preop liquid diet, I was in the bathroom at least once every 45-60 minutes to empty my bladder. I'm now 8 days post op, taking in 60+ ounces of fluids the same as before surgery, and I'm lucky to visit the bathroom 4 times a day. When I do go, it's not much. Is this normal with anyone else?

I don’t mean to post tmi but sweet baby Jesus The first poo was my absolute flipping nightmare. Like... why didn’t anyone warn me [emoji30][emoji30]40 minutes crying on the toilet and now my entire body hurts. I would rather endure an extra two week of clear liquids than experience that again. Holy.... I’m actually mad the hospital didn’t give me stool softeners or something. Jerks... lol Gastric bypass 1/24/18

Dated: August 13, 2009: Hi all, Well they let me go yesterday instead of waiting until today. That's the good news. I feel "ok" but mostly gassy from moment to moment and a bit of diarrha (green to boot), sorry I know TMI, but had to share. The surgery itself went smooth. I'm sore, I'm bloated, my stomach looks like I'm ready to deliver a bowling ball and someone tried to punch it out of me. Feel a bit weak from surgery, I'm sure. My tongue is coated with some white yucky stuff (what's that about?) I bought Isopure beforehand so I could start right in with the protein. Tastes like flavored dishwater to me. Hope that gets better cuz I bought like 10 of those stupid things. Mexicali was hotter than hell (113 degrees yesterday the day I left.) Dr. Aceves was in and out a bunch. He drinks Coke - all day long - I asked him about that, but he said he doesn't have a sleeve so he can do that! Dr. Campos is getting skinny. Sergio was a love. I asked for Lidocaine before IV insertion; they poo-poo'd me and stuck it in anyway and it hurt like a SOB, and I let that doctor know I was NOT happy about that, GD it!! They gave me a Morphine spinal - I was rolled into a ball and that's all I remember as I was out after that. Woke up OK in recovery. Had a drain which they left in for 3 days and looked like a 3 foot snake when they pulled it out. Fun stuff. My husband was amazed they could get that much in there! I feel weak, dragging around, somewhat envious that DH can eat and I cannot eat anything. Enough trouble trying to drink. Water and all liquids are a little tough going down. Tea is best cuz it's warm and feels good. I tried to eat that chicken broth in the hospital, but the smell and taste of it gagged me. Everyone is different. So this is day 4 for me as well, and hope it gets better fast cause I feel like a major pune. Oh, BTW, I did not have to remove any nail polish or nails. Yay for that!

Hey Guys, Hope today is better than yesterday. I walked around like a big gas bag burping and back-dooring gas all day, and peeing like a race horse. OK, TMI again. Sorry Yeah, that Isopure has got to go. I cannot stand the taste of it. I did not see on the Vitalady site where you can order samples of the Syntrax Nectar mix, just the big up plastic $30 jars of it. If I get it I just need to like it, ya know. GNC carries it too, but I'm sure not in all flavors, and shipping takes so long. I have other unflavored whey protein , so I guess I could mix that into different drinks. I tried Hawaiian Punch lite (or basically sugar-free) as suggested by Nina at Dr. A's, but gag me on that stuff. Too sweet. Taking pills is a real challenge too. I soaked the Nex Mups, but I also have to take a BP pill for awhile longer, and at night I take OTC Unisom to help sleep. Nothing is simple any more. On the up side, with all that water release yesterday I was down 3 pounds today. Of course that's just fluid retention not fat. One day at a time I guess.

I read vsg can help because the pressure on the internal organs is relieved. One mo out, I noticed just the opposite. I don't need any muscles to urinate. Any one else experience this reversal.?

What Are Some Things You Can't Wait For Once You Loose Weight?
New1 replied to labubakari's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope to be able to go to a public bathroom and use the regular stall and not the handicapped or family restroom. Seriously, my bottom is so large that in a regular restroom there is not enough room for me to get to my butt! (sorry for the tmi) -

TMI, Capt? LOL! Skin on skin + humidity/heat = yeasty, icky combo! Baby powder is like my garlic against vampires. -
The best advice I can give to you guys is to stay in the hospital an extra day if you can. I was fine the first 2 days but the 3rd (was rough) and I was happy I was somewhere that I could get help if needed. Also nice to have someone bring you broth when you are tired and feeling crappy. *at the risk of TMI it was also nice to have a bathroom close by* I also think I had an easier time because my husband and I walked a lot the 2nd day. We were both still on morphine so it made it pretty easy honestly. Don't forget to do your breathing exercises... it is counter-intuitive to breathe deeper when it hurts a little but in the end you will be happy you did!! That first week I will admit was a little rough. Not impossible, but you really need to take it easy and take care of yourself. : )

3 days post op
cantseemytoes replied to cantseemytoes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 4 days post op today too! Everything I (tmi disclaimer) fart the pressure eases. Walking helps alot. I've been walking 30 to 40 minutes ever day. Today I did my first grocery shopping trip. Wore me out, but I got my walking in and it move more of that gad alone. -
Right now I'm on blenderized food. My doc told me to try to balance my meals by having one Protein source and one of "something else". I'm trying to make veggies the "something else". I use canned veggies because they are easier to blenderize. I'm sure my diet will evolve and change as I come off mushie stuff. (TMI Alert!) Anyways, since I've started eating more veggies, I've not been so constipated.

I decided to do a min sleeve reset because my NUT wanted me to lower my kcals (im almost 7 months post op and was at 1200 kcals ) and summer means summer body lol Here is what happened Did not do the full version because i never went off plan instead i backtracked and enjoyed: 1/2 cup of Cottage cheese with basil and 1 strawberry for breakfast Iced coffee and 5.5oz of caramel premier shake for lunch 1 oz of cashews with 8 dark chocolate drops for snack 4-5oz of Poached salmon for dinner 64-80oz of liquids I did the same menu for about a week slowly adding things back in like salad fruit rye crackers keeping my macros and kcals on point What i noticed is i can detect my full sensation quicker, bowel movements daily(sometimes 2x tmi sorry) weightloss seems to have picked up again, the reset didnt need to be a huge production -seems like you can just decide to start one if you feel like, if i skip nuts im around 700 kcal with nuts 1000 (where my NUT wants my upperlimit at for now.) Just putting this info out for anyone curious.

i'm 5 weeks post op as of today (: anybody else 5 weeks or 6 weeks post op? how are you all doing? i'll start off with me, eh, could be A WHOLE LOT BETTER! im schedualed for a fill on the 16th but i dont think im ready for it yet, not with my stupid nausea, that doesnt seem to go away and im taking my nausea pills, that alone makes me frustrated, other than feeling nauseated, i feel fine. hope i dont have that for the rest of my life, but for some people they have nausea for a few months right? my dr said try eating a pickle, he had a patient that went home one night ate a pickle and felt great! is it cause of the vineger? and the nausea is the only thing thats making me upset, its making me lose hope in getting back to myself and feeling 100% wonderfull ahh! my incissions are healing fine, but have hives around them and itchy dr said he didnt know what was causing it and he didnt know what was causing the nausea. i gotta go #2 (lol sorry tmi) and i cant! maybe thats another reason why my stomach hurts. i'll take a softener when i get home from getting my lip pierced. i had soggy cereal for breakfast yesturday its go lean kashi or something like that, i tried a string cheese yesturday with turkey breast deli wrapped around it had like 3 bites and i couldn't eat it anymore, i dont think i was hungry. i had a chicken leg for dinner with my fav BBQ sauce and i fed most of it to the dog and cats, it tasted good though. today i didnt have anything for breakfast, i cant decide on anything, but im gonna have string cheese, i wasnt too hungry for breakfast, anyways i feel fine other than having nausea, i hope it goes away, how are all you guys doing? :smile2:

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond and look at these for me. No such thing as TMI for me. I'm a sponge, & I'm very cautious on how I spend money. I like to be as well informed as I possibly can be before I make any kind of investment. I'm a huge believer in you get what you pay for only to a certain point. Then you're paying for a name, or the law of diminishing returns kicks in. I really want to be on that line where I'm gettinthe best experience I can without paying extra for a name. I'm pretty mechaniclly inclined, but have never had much luck adjusting the linkage on multi gear bikes. Is it easier on higher end bikes or should I just pay a bike shop to do it for me

TMI...but I GOTTA ASK!!
Wedding Planner replied to Avahsmommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had the liquid in and liquid out during pre-op. I am 2 weeks post-op now and things are still pretty much coming out the same way they are going in, only now it's the mushies...I know it's TMI but sometimes you wonder if it's OK. I asked my Nut and she said this is the way it works, LOL, until I can eat more solid food there isn't much to poop out. -
Hello everyone I have been on this forum for a couple of months now and decided tonight would be the night for me to share my story. My Name is Blannie and I will be starting my pre-op diet on tomorrow. My surgery is September 10th, 2012 with Dr. Marema. I have not always being fat and it wasn't until I was in my 20's when I started this love affair with food. I have had so many disappointments when it has come to men in my life that it is ridiculous. I have tired every diet known to man and had some success but would always gain the weight back and most times double! I am tired of hearing people say when they find out about me having WLS..YOU ARE NOT THAT BIG or why are you taking the easy way out!!!! I have learned from being on this forum that WLS is NOT THE EASY way out!!! I a lifestyle change it is a daily commitment to change your life with the help of the sleeve. We still have to do the work in conjunction with the sleeve and I am so grateful for it. I am doing this FOR ME and I don't care what anybody has to say or think.... So here it is my story: My journey started back in 2010 with me pursing the lap band. After going threw the 6 month pre requirement, nutritionist and pysch evaluation we submitted to my insurance. After a week I was informed that my claim was denied. I was very upset and frustrated because after all why would my insurance deny me? It was during this time that I found out about a requirement that was not told to me while going threw the process. Apparently my insurance (CIGNA) has a requirement that states in order for them to pay the surgeon has to be working at a Cigna Certified Center of Excellence facility. I tried three different ways to have the decision changed. I contacted the State of Florida department of insurance and issued a complaint. I went threw my human resource department and filed a complaint and I wrote a letter of appeal directly to the insurance company. After several weeks of working with my HR advocate I was advised to find a physician that already met the insurance requirements! Thus I found Dr. Marema with US Bariatrics. He was such a nice guy and his staff so accomodating with all the problems I had experienced in the past. He talked about the sleeve and I decided to switch to the sleeve. After meeting Dr.Marema Cigna approved me for the surgery at any facility in FL but I choose to go with Dr. Marema. I am finally excited about something in my life. Other than being a mother to my boys this opportunity to have the sleeve is one of the best things that I had done for myself. Actually it is one of the only things I have done for me..usually I am the last one in my life that I do something FOR! I am so looking forward to being healthy and have NSV's like everyone else... I just would like to be able to wipe my butt and not feel like I am having to lean over and take deep breathes... (I know TMI). Thanks for the support on this page and the information has been priceless. I know what to expect and I am praying the best for everyone on the forum! Blannie

Hi everyone! I have to say that I'm a little tired today. I went out with a LB support group friend last night and didn't get home until 11:30. That is late for me!! We met for dinner then went to see the musical Dreamgirls. We had a GREAT time! I feel so blessed to have met her. But I had a hard time getting to sleep and (pardon my TMI) I am feeling constipated the last couple of days. That is unusual for me so I'm getting a little annoyed with it. I think part of my problem is my lack of exercise this week. It will be a full week for me today without ANY kind of organized exercise. I feel sure that once I get back to it, my energy will take off. I have Jazzercise tonight, so that will be fun. I am supposed to go see Master Bruce tomorrow night which is fine, I guess. I have really gotten to the point I dislike him and don't want to go anymore which is too bad. I only have 4 more prepaid sessions I need to use and then I can focus on trying something else. Any ideas? I am trying to think of something fun to do probably once a week that would be a little different (to supplement the Jazzercise and running.) Mostly, I'm just looking forward to a weekend at home! I loved going to Louisiana and Kansas, but I'm ready for a break. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!!

Yogurt causing gas...good or bad?
Pink nova posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, Quick question for you. I had my surgery on Monday and tried yogurt for the first time today. I usually just do the cottage cheese but decided to try something different. Right away, my stomach started gurgling and making noise and then came the expelling of gas (sorry TMI - I know...so attractive lol) should I try it again or not? is it good that it’s helping me expel gas or is it giving me more gas? -
Ok then I'm 99% sure it's the backing up!!! Just had a scary one! As I hadn't had that before! Sorry if it's TMI but does it feel like you need to be sick and are about to be but aren't?! Was awful!!! But I guess you learn as you go being a newbie to this stuff is hard!! Haha. Thankyou

That all makes sense to me and even though it's Mothers Day, I decided I was going to walk on the treadmill again. One thing it does do is keep me "regular", I know TMI. My daughter is getting gastric bypass surgery on the 27th and has been on her liquid diet for almost 4 weeks and had been watching the Food channel to compensate for lack of food and today made me home made crullers for Breakfast. So obviously I need to walk on the treadmill. They went down pretty easily, I think because they were home made, another story. Sorry to hear of the loss of your dad, I went through that myself two years ago and know how that can complicate how you take care of yourself for many many reasons. Everyone deals with grief and stress differently but it's never easy:sad_smile:. If I'm at a certain stress level I do well and then there's a different stress level where I totally bomb out! With WW I have the points in my head and probably because there's a fixed number and I go over it I feel like I'm totally screwed and probably am not but there's something about that number that messes with my head:mad: Anyway I'm going to try to follow the three meals and exercise and focus on more healthy and allow myself a treat now and again so I don't binge on the sugar stuff because I feel I'm in "starvation mode" or whatever. Anyway thanks for your support and sorry about your dad, brandyII. And that sugar issue was definitely not brought up to me!

I just sent an email to my liaison at alighterme with questions about this topic. I'm having my surgery done in Mexico with Dr. Kelly on 08/22. On the original paperwork I guessed on my weight as 220 because I had packed my scale in storage out of frustration. As we made plans and set my surgery date, I got my scale out and was happy to see I was actually 210. I let the liaison know to change my weight and BMI on my paperwork. But the 210 was with clothes on and my first day of my cycle (sorry if TMI) so when I got on the scale today w/out clothes and the water retention down, I'm now 204.4. This puts my BMI to 32.5. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I'm thrilled that I have less weight to lose but I'm worried that with two weeks of the protein shake diet I may lose another 10 lbs. or more and bring my BMI to 30 or 31 (or even 29?). I usually do really well on diets the first couple weeks and lose a lot of weight. Will the doctor turn me away if I lose too much on the pre-op diet? I don't want to become too "thin" to qualify! Seems like such a silly thing to have to ask...

Terrified of puréed phase
greensmoothie replied to kaleeshab's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 6 weeks post sleeve surgery. It was really hard to tolerate anything other than jello and broth at first. I never hit the protein and water daily goals. I struggled to keep a lot of foods I tried down (TMI - I vomited a lot). I spoke with my doctor about it and he said to focus on water goals and reduced the water goal to 40 ounces per day. When I had an aversion to water he said I could hit my liquid goals with Gatorade, crystal light and the like. So long story short ... I stayed on liquids a little longer despite being able to go to soft foods. Despite these food plans that say you can eat X on a certain date, you know your body and what you are ready to eat. I think it’s good to take it slow. If something doesn’t work then try it again later on down the road. Like I said in the beginning of this post, I am six weeks out. Today I can eat and drink almost anything now without any issue. As your stomach heals it gets better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
