hi, welcome to LBT. the band is a great TOOL, but you do have to work with it. it IS a drastic life change, but think of all the great things that will result in those changes you will have made. look for some threads around here labeled NSV (non scale victory) - crossing legs, fitting in a size 16, fitting in a size TEN, no problems on airplanes, the list is endless. good luck and it truly is worth it.

    It's The Little Things.....

I thought the same thing when I originally quoted your post. Let's keep it going {down.down, down} and share our next few week accomplishments or as they say here, NSV's.

    This is a TMI moment...

I'm not going to deny that we enjoyed this nsv. In fact as crazy as it sounds it seemed to both of us to have more girth. Either way Mrs. Fat Man was quite happy as was I

    This is a TMI moment...

Crazy?? Crazy happy! May you and Mrs. Fat Man (really? ) have many, many more "crazy" NSVs.
  11. I had my first post-op appointment since surgery last Friday, and it could not have gone better. 1) As of my pre-op weigh-in on 1/10, I'm down 14 pounds. 2) My incisions are healing perfectly, and I can remove the steri-strips on Monday. 3) I was given my "restaurant card" to use when I finally venture out to eat. 4) I am sloooooowly becoming able to get in more liquids, and even the Protein shake I gagged on when I tried to drink it on Sunday, I'm now able to tolerate. 5) The horrible alien gurgling sounds in my chest/throat that have plagued me for the past 3 days are quieting down somewhat. 6) Best of all, I've graduated to puréed foods for the next 2 weeks! My first experiment: instant mashed potatoes with ICBINB spray. HEAVENLY! 7) Oh, and I did two workout videos today (Walk Away the Pounds), for a total of 5 miles. I feel absolutely wonderful! This is the best decision I've made in my life. For those of you who are struggling in the early days: be patient, because every day gets better. Every day I wake up, I have more energy and more desire to see this through. I am so thankful and grateful that I came through this with no major complications.

New body, new set of problems

Boy, sorry to hear this. I had a very different outcome from my WLS. At nearly 70 years old, I look decades younger than I did before being sleeved. My pain (from arthritis) is practically nil these days. I haven't had an Aleve or any other NSAID in 17 months. I walk for nearly 4 miles each day for exercise, plus the walking I do at home and at work. My physical rejuvenation and ability to move are some of my best WLS NSVs. I lost 95 pounds, am maintaining at 140 pounds easily (am 5'5") and definitely do not look "skeletor." I am a standard size 8 (and vanity sizes 6 and even 4) and look hawt for my age. My pre-WLS, agoraphobic self was definitely depressed. My 14-months post-op 140-pound cute self is definitely not depressed. Obviously, everyone's mileage varies considerably. I endorse others' advice that you seek some good counseling and medical care for the things that are plaguing you these days. You don't have to put up with these kinds of outcomes.
  13. So I was able to make my old saddle work by adding a seat shrinker pad. It was actually quite comfy. But now my butt has shrunk so much that even that is too big. So I splurged on a new (used) saddle this week! I've always ridden western until my last saddle which was an aussie with a horn. SO comfy! I will never ride anything but an aussie again. So in my search for one that fit both me and my horse, the winner was a Muster Master from Australian Stock Saddle Company. It is a crossover saddle, which basically means it fits and looks like an aussie, but takes a regular western cinch and has a western fleece bottom instead of the aussie serge panels. The other thing is this one doesn't have a horn. This will definitely take some getting used to and some creative rigging options, because I mostly use the horn to dally my lead rope, hook my drink holder onto, and drape my head stall and reins on when trailering. First ride is tomorrow....can't wait!
  14. Be happy with the NSV's. The scale will catch up eventually!
  15. My mom gave me a fitted v-neck sweater for Christmas. When I saw that it was a 1X, I thought "I will not be able to wear this". Oh...and it has horizontal stripes, which I thought I'd never wear again. I'm wearing it today!!!!! It fits! And, I must say I think I look pretty darned HOT! :tongue2: POST YOUR NSV!
  16. So I had to open up the office today, and was working with my GM. We were having a good time since things were slow, and killing a few hours watching glee on our laptops and just joking around since morning paperwork was finished. I stepped outside for a cigarette (bad Brandy!) and had some clients walk up. I didn't recognize them, but apparently they knew me. The gentleman in the group dropped his jaw and said "Brandy, is that you?! Oh my god girl I didn't even recognize you, how much weight have you dropped??" It's so nice to hear that from a stranger! It's one thing to hear it from your friends and family, but to hear it from a stranger really makes it real. I think we all need to appreciate these small things. They make the whole process seem real. Anyways, that's my NSV for the day!

    another NSV

I finally broke down and started cleaning out my closet over the weekend. I had been putting it off for so long. I have lost 60 pounds since my surgery on 1/19/07 and lost 15 pre-surgery so that is like 75 pounds since last year this time. Surgery day I was wearing 26 bottoms and 26/28 tops and today I am in 18 bottoms and 18/20 and XL tops.I have enjoyed trying on and buying new clothes, underwear and bras. But for some reason have been reluctant to part with any of my old stuff. This is my first time losing enough weight that I had to buy all new stuff and in the back of my mind, I have been kinda paranoid and think what if I gain it back and need my old clothes again? I was watching Lifetime on Saturday afternoon and something told me that it was time. I bagged up 5 huge bags of stuff for Goodwill and a huge bag for one of my cousins. It was very interesting pulling out those clothes & remembering wearing them. But then I got so sad and mad at myself. How could I have let myself get that big? AND I had way more size 30/32 than I recall buying. I have pretty much been the same size for 15+ years so you can imagine the amount of clothes I have and have not even touched upstairs yet. I got mad, called my best friends and blessed them out asking them, "how come you didn't tell me that I was that big?". They all were like "I thought you knew?". Evidently I was in some serious denial and even if they had said anything, I would probably have gotten mad at them for something that was not their fault. I tried on some clothes that I definitely remember wearing and they are bagging off of me. I held them up and they were huge pieces of material. I got depressed temporarily thinking about the past and how I feel as if I have wasted like 15 years of my life, but then I snapped out of it, became grateful for the long way I have come and was able to hang all my new smaller clothes in the old place. I think I have gotten over my anxiety of parting with my big old stuff and I am looking forward to throwing out the rest that is upstairs to make room for even smaller clothes. It really changed my perspective because i have been unhappy lately with this weight loss lateau thing that i am going through despite losing inches and having to buy new clothes. Seeing so many of my old clothes at one time really put things in focus for me. I am shedding the old weight, old clothes, old everything.

    11/3/09 Up the Calories

My doc also says there may be periods of time where your weight loss stalls while your body adjusts, and be patient. My WL stalled for about six months, staying right at the same weight, then dropped considerably. Now it's stalled again, but I've noticed the NSV's are increasing. I stopped worrying about what the scale said and went on living. So what if I only lose 5 lbs a month? I'm still losing and my skin has a chance to snap back without my looking like a kid in Mommy's skin. LOL!

    NSV!!!!!

4 months banded I read about alot of bandster nsv's , and would always feel like, oh yippee for that person. 10lbs gone, 20, now im at 30lbs gone. (must update my ticker). 1) well, this morning i had one. actually, ive had more but just had to put my mind to it. this morning i was getting ready for work, red undies call for a red bra, i start rummaging through my lingerie drawer and pull out a red bra. oh yeah, i remember that one. deep plunge in front held together with a little ring. hmmm, let me try it on. i reach behind me and i feel the extender that i had brought because all of my bras hurt, they were too tight. i felt around and unhooked the extender... my bra fit. very well i might add. no extender, no pain, boobies look damn good in my pretty red deep plunge bra!!! 2) i a few weeks ago, i got in my car to go to work and damn... sans cell phone. before the band, i would just go to work, change my msg to say: hey, i forgot my phone at home, call me on my work #... well, this particular time, i got out my car, ran upstairs, got my phone, ran down and got in my car. not winded, no problems. wow. did it w/o thinking about it. those are just two and there are more. im at 204lbs. 5 more to be on OneDerland. i gained 20 some odd lbs in the last two years. where im at right now is only 6-8 lbs lighter than two years ago. nobody has really noticed anything about me. i do. its all uncharted territory now. every lb. will count. i love my band. -r
  22. I'm lookin like a fool with my pants on the ground! Hey, I was so excited about new found restriction after my second fill that I forgot to post about my first big NSV. Well, I knew my jeans were getting loose, but on Sunday I realized they were getting WAY too loose as I kept having to hike them up in public (which I'm sure looks ridiculous). I gave 'em a test to see if I could pull them on and off without unbuttoning them and sure enough I could so I figured it was time to start wearing the next size smaller jeans in my closet. And, let me tell you I feel so 'skinny' in these jeans. I have been wearing them every day since Sunday and plan on wearing them again today. The funny thing is that at some point, I had considered these now smaller jeans my 'fat jeans'. I remember I had gained weight and vowed not to gain anymore (yeah right!) so I only allowed myself to buy Target jeans. I mean why would I want to spend money on jeans I would only be wearing briefly? Ugh! So, now I get to wear them again. And, I have three pairs of these Target jeans (two medium wash, one dark dark wash) so how can I justify needing a different pair in this size??? I guess I better just speed through this size because I know I have at least one cute pair in the next size down. LOL Not that these are ugly, but they just aren't cute (going out) jeans. Sometimes I think I am the weirdest fat woman because it never bothered me to buy new fat clothes. So many people say they HAVE to throw out their fat clothes so they CAN'T gain weight again. But, for me, I love buying clothes so every time I have lost OR gained, I've bought more and more and more clothes. I am really trying hard not to purchase too many new things this time as I lose through the sizes again, though. I've got so many clothes (only 1-2 years old) in every size. I did splurge and buy two new tops from Lane Bryant online, though. They had some really pretty (dressy) tops from the Icon collection (normally $98) on clearance for $12. I ordered them on the small side so hopefully one of them will fit for my friend's wedding on 4/2. Normally I would not wear pants to a wedding, but I feel like such a cow in a dress right now. And, this is a second wedding and my friend is young and very casual. So, I'm thinking black dress pants (which I just happen to have in a smaller size right now) and one of these dressy tops might make for a pretty outfit without dropping a lot of $$$. OK, I am getting off on a tanget now, but gotta mention one other great NSV I had on Monday. My inlaws were on their way over so I was doing my normal run-around-and-try-to-straighten-the-house-as-quickly-as-possible routine. I've got a 4 and a 6 year old so this usually involves a lot of huffing and puffing and straining to pick all their stuff up off the floor. But, you know what I noticed???? Picking stuff up off the floor is getting a lot easier. I don't feel like my head is gonna pop off anymore when I'm doing this. And, I swept all my floors in just 15 minutes and usually that takes me a lot longer. Woohoo!!! This is the everyday stuff that really matters when it comes to feeling good.

    Feeling FABULOUS!

Let's call it metamorphosis - the closest thing I can liken it to is a caterpillar cocooning and turning into a buttterfly. Except my cocoon has mirrors and I allow the occasional visitor. I'm definitely undergoing a transformation, my fill is working, I'm rarely hungry and when I am I eat small portions. I'm officially a size 22 dress which is for me a BIG deal, even though I've been a size 22, 20, even an 18 in jeans, I haven't gotten below a 24 top. So my dresses were always in the size 24-28 range depending on the cut and store. Officially a size 22 which is for ME a HUGE deal, I feel GREAT.. I feel fantastic.. I feel....FABULOUS! I'm definitely in the middle and midst of something great and I can't wait for it to continue. NSV this week - Down from a size 48D to 40DDD - yes they actually got BIGGER! lol.. Down from a 24/26 dresss to a 22 Double chin has almost vanished completely! Taught myself how to do "professional" looking makeup. Rocked absolutely everything I wore... And then ran into an old friend who just CHEESED when he saw me and couldn't get over or stop saying how great I look. That was just amazing (especially since he's the best friend of an ex boyfriend lol) this is absolutely 100% the BEST thing I ever did for myself.. I know I'm experience God results and my change is rapid and I'm SO thankful for it. Praise Him!
  25. Non-scale Victory! Yay! @@gettinghealthymom1 That's definitely a great NSV!
