    Greek yogurt:/ Yuck!

Are you pre op? I could not stand any kind of yogurt or any flavor prior to surgery. My taste buds changed a lot after surgery and I tried yogurt and actually liked it!! I was even surprised that my favorite flavor is plain old vanilla.

    Greek yogurt:/ Yuck!

I have to agree with you Dub, Oikos Greek yogurt is tasty.. you to mix it well as it sometimes has a chalk consistency if not mixed well, that was the only learning curve I have to get use to when I crossed over from regular yogurt to Greek.

    Greek yogurt:/ Yuck!

I don't like yogurt. I used to like it some when I was a kid but the older I get the less I like to the point I am at now. I have so few calories to work with each day, I am not going to waste time trying to force myself to like something that I don't like and isn't essentials. There are lots of sources of Protein. You don't have to force yourself to like something you don't like.

    Greek yogurt:/ Yuck!

I'm a dude who didn't care for yogurt. It's something I sidestepped and reached for other unhealthy garbage. Once I entered the diet prior to the pre-op liquid diet, I gave Greek yogurt a try due to it's higher Protein content. I'm a big football fan and had seen Cam Newton's Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt commercials and figured I'd give it a go. I was very impressed with the flavor and thought it was great. Every flavor was really to my liking. I gave other brands of Greek yogurt a try and never found one I liked as much as the Oikos Triple Zero. None were as healthy, either. Give it try if you don't get dialed in on another brand. I'm 7 days post-op, 3rd week of liquids with a few more weeks of liquids to go. I am very much looking forward to the days ahead when I can have my Greek yogurt. It's going to be awesome..

    Greek yogurt:/ Yuck!

I am a yogurt fan from way back....Greek has bit more tangy taste IMO but I love it. I do not care for plain unless I am substituting it for sour cream. I like the great value flavors from walmart as well!

    Puréed Stage

I had a hard time with this too. What helped was getting it to a texture I could manage like @summerseeker mentioned. I added taco meat made with turkey (very finely minced while cooking) to refried beans with some cheese. If it was too thick or dry, I added a little sour cream. The other winner was pot roast and veggies. I ran it through the food processor with the carrots, onions, celery and broth. The meat was fine enough to add texture but not so fine as to be paste. I made sure there was more meat per serving than veggies, but the veggies and broth helped keep it soft enough to be easy on my tummy. Since each of these made me a few days of meals, I was out of the purée stage before I knew it. I had yogurts and cottage cheese as snacks. Some people like hummus. I just couldn’t eat hummus by the spoonful. I need pretzels or something lol Hang in there! 😊🤞

    Starting Pre-op diet

Hi, I had to do a milk and yogurt diet for 10 days prior to my band op and again for my revision. I found that the best way for me to cope with it was to have a complete blow-out the night before of my favourite takeaway and then I was sorted and my head was in the right place to get on with the pre-op! I had milk for Breakfast, milk for lunch and milk for tea. I didn't have much yogurt as I can't stand the taste or consistency but I did have the odd oxo cube to satisfy my cravings for savoury. I heated the milk up, whisked it like mad and had it with coffee as a Cappuccino, I drank whenever I felt hungry or had a craving, I let my family prepare their own meals and went upstairs whilst they ate and did everything I could to keep occupied and not thinking about food. I was also mindful of the fact that my liver needed to shrink for the op and that my surgeon would know if I hadn't stuck to the diet and would possibly cancel as a result. I kept this in mind all the time that by doing this it would make the op easier and safer to perform. It's not easy but just keep thinking about why you want this op and that you are going to succeed. You can have a moan on here anytime you want and we will all support you! Good luck!
  8. I was tempted to do that but my doctor says no yogurt or soft foods until my follow up on the 12th, uggghhh

    4 Days Post-Op & Overwhelmed

Thanks for the info. I am 5 days post op and not getting anywhere near the required protein. Doing the best that I can. Actually having some yogurt that I didn't thin with milk because my stomach feels so hungry! Trying to sip all day long but it's difficult. I keep saying to myself that this too shall pass:)

    Sooo hungry!

My instructions said I can start eating creamy Soups on Day 4 So I made some cream of mushroom just to try. I whipped it in my Blendtec before heating it up to be sure there was NO bits of anything. Then I added almond milk. I had 1/2 cup over an hour and felt almost relieved. You could try taking one spoonful of greek yogurt and really swish it around in your mouth first. Congrats!! we were sleeved on the same day and I am down 12 lbs in five days.
  11. Hi there! I am 2 weeks out and I eat the Rosarita canned refried beans-Vegetarian, soft tofu, cottage cheese, mashed avocado, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, cream of wheat. My doctor told me that as long as it's baby food consistency...i mash the heck out of it! LOL...I also have yogurt. You can add banana and other fruits to the blender and add to your shakes or yogurt. Oh yeah SF popsicals. I hope this helps some.

    Help!!!! Help me please!!!

Hi I had surgery on Oct 9 and everyday feel nauseous. Two things have helped curve the nausea: hot tea and chicken broth. Water also helps. This week I started my blended diet and have tried plain yogurt and tofu. I loved protein shakes before surgery, but cannot stomach them at the moment. So while my diet is bland I feel less nausea over the course of the day. Best of luck.

    My Get-Up-And-Go has gone

Queen - You're such a sweetie. Thank you. It's great to see your posts again. Rhapsody. you too. Welcome back. I've missed all of you guys. This place is the one place I know everyone really understands what I'm going through right now. Addjoy - I can send you a few days of my meals but they aren't perfect. They are working well for me right now though. Seems if I stay between 1000-1100 and keep it pretty balanced between Protein, carbs and fats I do well. I am really trying to eat healthy and the carbs and fats are mostly from healthy sources. Though I do admit to splurging on a dessert every day. I can't seem to break my ice cream habit. I keep it a small amount and try to make sure I balance the calories out. If I've been bad it has to be a low cal skinny cow kind of thing. If I've been really low on calories it's Tiramisu - mmmmmm. Check out the Clean eating threads here or Clean Eating Magazine and Eat Clean Diet stuff. I love that magazine so much I should get paid for advertising it - lmao. Basics of my diet - Breakfast - 4oz lite yogurt or Fage Total 0% with a few berries -during the week I also have a large sf vanilla iced coffee from McDonalds Snack - 1/2 to 1 cup fruit or 2 tablespoons of hummus with about 5 soy crisps or mini rice cakes lunch - pouch of tuna or some of the meat left over from dinner and some kind of veggie thing Might snack of a few pieces of dried veggies or fruit, soy chips or something like that during the afternoon if I'm hungry Dinner is usually meat, veggies and good starch but in much smaller portion size than the rest of the family. Dessert later on. Keep in mind this isn't what my nutritionist recommends or the program from my doctor's office but my doctor is good with it since I'm doing well and it's healthy. Only part he wants me to get rid of is the dessert and wants no food after dinner. We'll see.

    Post Op Portion Control?

How slowly are you eating? I chewed 30 times, and waited one minute between each very small bite. I think that gave my tummy time to send the signal, but I still had issues at first. I didn't try Rtiz crackers. I could eat one or two saltines and about an ounce of soft meat at one sitting. So a typical day at three weeks was: 6 a.m. 1 cup Water 8 a.m. 1 cup decaf 9 a.m. 1/2 cup greek yogurt with splenda 11:00 a.m. Protein drink noon: 1 cup water 1:45 p.m. 2 oz. turkey meatloaf 2:45 I cup crystal light lemonaide 4:30 p.m. Light cheese stick 5:30 p.m. 1 cup water 6:30 p.m. 2 oz. turkey meatloaf 7:30 p.m. 2 oz turkey meatloaf 10 p.m. 1 cup water Lynda Lynda

    What antibiotics can I take?

A few months ago I had to take a round of 5 separate antibiotics. I crushed them and would use drinkable yogurt to get them down w/o tasting them.

From the album: 4th Month Post-op

What I eat: Unjury Chocolate Splendor (1st time trying it-- pretty good); grapes and a Babybel; 1/2 oz beef jerky & cheese; a special treat: three samples of frozen yogurt
  18. Try the clear drinks instead. Isopure make premixed ones, Syntrax nectar can be made with Water. I used ProSource NoCarb the first 2 weeks post op. It was great thinned with water or added to herbal teas. Also look for protein rich beverages. Kefir ( a yogurt drink), cream of chicken, beef, etc... thinned with broth, etc... Milk of choice: cow, hemp, almond have the most protein.

    Painful Mushies

Hi there! When I was on mushies after surgery, I stuck with very soft foods like yogurt, cottage cheese, and fat free refried Beans. Remember that your stitches are still healing and your stomach is still swollen from the surgery. For the gas pains, take Gas-X. It was a real lifesaver for me! Good luck!
  20. a while back I had posted a recipe for smoked salmon spread - it's very good and well received by non-banded friends and family as well. I have included it below - I now even up the salmon amount to 12-16 ounces for increased Protein. Smoked Salmon Spread This is great to eat as a snack or small meal depending on restriction with some veggies, a couple reduced fat crackers, pretzels or how you would eat any tuna or crab salad. Blend the following in a cuisinart until smooth: - 8 oz reduced fat cream cheese - 8 oz nonfat plain greek yogurt - 1 tsp lemon pepper (mine is a gourmet blend that has salt & garlic in it - you can add a little of these to add flavor) Add & Pulse till well blended: - 8 oz Smoked Salmon, chopped (I used 1/2 a 1lb pkg smoked sockeye salmon from costco - the kind used for lox, not the drier kind - 1 sm sweet onion, diced (red works just fine) - fresh dill (couple sprigs) if you have it - I have used a good squeeze of a tube of dill (produce herb section) when my store was out of fresh This obviously makes a lot - about 3.5 c, but I'll serve it as a dip for guests or take some to work. You could also easily 1/2 it I just like to get rid of containers and use things up. Nutrition: 7 - 1/2 c. servings 188 cal. 19 g. protein 10 - 1/3 c. servings 132 cal. 13 g. protein I ate 1/3 c. tonight with .5 oz (12) snyder's of hanover butter pretzel snaps (the pretzel squares) which only added 60 cal. and 1.5 g protein. This is just about the same cal and protein of a high protein chocolate slim fast shake. Last suggestion / note: This is the consistency of a spread/ dip. You could use the entire 1 lb package of salmon without adjusting the other ingredients (more of a tuna salad consistency) which would change the nutrition to: 1/2 cup serving - 219 cal. 25 g. protein

    Soft Food

So far i'm living on mashed fish, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, and ff greek yogurt...
  22. How much you eat depends on what you eat. If you eat solid protein such as chicken of beef 4 to 6 OZs is all you will fit. It you eat soup one or yogurt one can get a lot more down. The trick is to eat and make yourself full. Easier said than done. You will find getting use to smaller meals its that bad, but it does take time.

    Frozen yogurt

I don't see why it would be a problem. Just watch the carb count. I regularly put Kefir (liquid yogurt) in my Protein shakes to help with the taste. Plus it adds more protein and keeps me regular.
  25. Mine is a 3 month diet as well. 4 weeks is definitely more bearable! I'm 13 days post op today and this morning I heard my stomach growl! But I still wasn't hungry! As I mentioned before, my tolerance for soft foods is very good. So, i started chewing on more soft foods (crab meat, yogurts, sweet potatoes etc). I have lost about 5lbs post surgery but I've lost a very noticeable amount of inches in my waist and my upper body area. My face has really thinned out as well. I'm not really stressing about the number-it will go down with time. I just want to be healthy and not malnourished in the long run. It's hard to even remember to eat! And I'm still struggling with getting all of my fluids in. It's a work in progress! I feel great though! Yes stomach noises!!! My NUT said the stomach noises mean our stomachs are cleaning themselves and I don't think I've actually had real hunger, more mental, no growling due to hunger only cleaning! Yes the number does not matter! Physically I have changed drastically! Jeans are getting looser, roundness in my face too has gone down. I think being scale obsessed will hurt more and I did read that one, your body can be changing the fat into muscle with all the Protein and two, tightening and toning up; either way there is loss in inches, dress sizes and FAT! Definitely feel great too!
