I feel really defeated and upset. Sorry this is gonna be a negative post but I dont know what to do anymore. I had my surgery (vsg) September 28th (in another post I mixed up September and October) and recovered very well, very fast. Hardly any gas pain, no incisional pain and so far no vomiting. As thankful as I am about all that that pretty much sums up all the good things there are. First of I’m hungry ALL THE TIME!! In fact my cravings have never been this bad. I think about food 24/7!! Then the moment I smell food or prepare food my hunger vanishes and gets replaced by feeling incredibly nauseous. I can only eat something once then it grosses me out. Because of this I avoid eating and - as stupid as it sounds I’m well aware of that - I get scared to eat because I dont want to be miserable. I can tolerate everything fine but the smell is just awful! Speaking of awful I have the worst and most disgusting bad breath of my life!! No matter how much I brush my teeth and floss my mouth my family can smell me from down the hall. I feel so gross! If only I was loosing weight I’d accept it all but the kicker is I’m not losing any!! The first two weeks I lost 25lbs. Week 3 and four I lost 3lbs and since then (two weeks!!) I’ve been stalling. I’m so frustrated!! What makes matters the absolute worst (sorry this is tmi) I can’t 💩!!!! I havent gone in 15 days!! I’m seeing a nutritionist, who has prescribed me stool softener but nothing happened. I’ll probably have to go back to the hospital over the weekend to get a stronger laxative (talked to the surgeon on the phone today). I didnt expect to have regular bowl movement as before but feeling constipated for two weeks is really no fun. I’m telling myself at least once that’s out maybe my weight will finally drop? Some more context: My surgeon’s plan calls for regular food after day 4. I didnt follow that guideline because it scared me and ate soft foods till aprox. week 5 focusing on my protein intake. I weigh my food though I feel like I can eat a lot. So far I consume around 300-400kcal a day. I had to eat out once for work where I had bread with cheese. Other than that I’m very diligent with my diet. My water intake could be better but I’m constantly sipping on water and cant get more down than 1 maybe 1 1/2L a day. I feel like I’m being punished because I lost (and gained back) 100lbs three times before with very restrictive diets and my body is so used to “being starved” so it’s not playing along. I keep reminding myself my main goal isnt weight loss (though I need and want to) but to stop yoyo dieting in such excess. It’s hardly comforting though because I’m really really frustrated. I’m sorry to be so negative! And I’m sorry I wrote so much but I need to get it off my chest. Have any of y’all had a similar hard beginning? Does it really get better? At this point I can’t imagine it

Hi everyone. TMI nausea warning at 10 weeks post Bypass. Anyone suffer from nausea after eating? This just started for me and I throw up slime, not actual food. It's not foam but a clear or with a tinge of color, thick stuff. The nausea sometimes lasts for for hours as well as the vomiting. Very early on I did get a little nausea because I thought I could eat 1/2 cup but could only actually eat 1/4 cup. An extra bite was too much. This is different. This is full blown nausea, I am going to throw up in the middle of the room if I don't run to the bathroom. In fact, I lost it in the car. Not sure what to do because it happens with all sorts of foods I could eat before. Anyone knows what this is? What to do? Experienced it? Help!

Exercise & Pre-op Diet
Amanda1982 replied to nallygirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been working out in the mornings, and I'm a little tired today, but it's also that time of the month (i know TMI ......LOL) so i can't blame it on the pr-op diet. Anyway I'm down 8lbs. -
Aw shucks, ya'll are awesome. I don't want to interfere with anyone else's schedule. I see that you've done LaMadeline and Coffee Rani. I work in Mandeville right next to Bistro Byronz (probably TMI for a blog, but oh well!). I can easily get to the Northpark area in Covington if necessary. I'm not sure how your schedules are. I am still in the very early phases. So, coming up with a diet friendly place rather than a gluttonous place is hard! LOL I love Coffee Rani's Rani-watchers menu (in Mandeville). I also like that LaMadeline has fat-free dressing for their caesar salad, and I dig the ahi Tuna at N'tini. Bistro Byronz is right next to me which is always good. As long as we are in the area between Mandeville and Northpark, I can do anything. Help me decide Please? I am not sure of budgets, time, etc. I don't want to overstep! I'm a terrible decision maker.

I got sleeved the same day as you and I have the same issue I now have TMI haemroids (can't spell it) the pain down there is worse than my operation pain and issues I can't go so I use an microlax enema then I go but it's awful and takes forever then last night I took two ducolax before bed and today is not a good day I'd be scared to leave the house so I go from one extreme to another than back again it's frustrating I've never ever suffered constipation. I would have to say in one word..........AWESOME!! I will be 14 weeks post op tomorrow and have lost weight (knock on wood) so far every week. So far I have gone from a super tight 26/28, 30/32 to a size 20 in pants. I have no problem being around food and not eating what others are. I have eaten out with my family and friends and done just fine, sometimes sharing sometimes ordering my own stuff and taking home leftovers. I now go and enjoy the company not just going to eat. And fitting into booths, I still do a little Woo Hoo when I slide right in, my family has come to expect this. LOL I am exercising every week, some weeks I know I could do better but I am doing it. Trying to push myself to better my time and reps everytime I go. I am sometimes lazy with my food when I don't want to think about what to eat, and will have a shake or a Protein bar, but I am still within my limits and meeting my protein goals (usually exceeding) and my liquid intake. We are going to Disney in March and I am SOOOOOO excited to be able to go on ANY ride I choose to go on, not just the ones I think I will fit into. We were at Universal three years ago and I sat while my hubby and daughter went on everything. Not this time!! One of main motivators for having this surgery was to be able to participate in my life again, not just be sitting on the sidelines. And even at my weight I am at now I am doing that, I am enjoying my life!! I cannot imagine how I feel after losing another 60-70lbs. But I am pretty sure it will feel great!! Now before anyone thinks it has been all roses for me let me tell you it has not. But I do believe I have had an easier time than some that I have read about on here and for that I am eternally grateful. My recovery went really well and most everything I have eaten has agreed with me. I did throw up once just last week but I believe it was because I ate way to fast, and will not be doing that again. I had some awful constipation (sorry TMI) the week after Thanksgiving where I thought/wished I would die. But that is all fixed now. I have a ventral hernia that could not be taken out during my VSG surgery and now with my weight loss you can see it protruding more on my lower right abdomen side. This I will have removed probably around summertime, still discussing that with my surgeon. I am not looking forward to that surgery. I am seeing some of my skin start to be loose, but that is small price to pay for feeling the way I do. I still cannot believe it has been as long as it has, it's weird how time is flying. I can't wait to hear from the rest of you on how you are all doing, I hope this post finds you doing great!! -
Way TMI Question about Post-Op Bowels. Please help.
FreeToBeMe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had watery bowels since my first movement 4 days post-op two days ago. Today, I noticed some fresh bright red blood on the toilet paper. Is this normal? TIA, Pennie -

Just got home from Urgent Care. I was dehydrated but just the beginning stages. Blood work was good and stomach x-rays looked good, minus me being backed up (sorry I know, TMI). Does anyone know if we can take Miralax? The doctor I saw wants me to start taking it but she said to of course check with my surgeon first. They hooked me up to some fluids and gave me some Zofran through my IV as well. Feeling better now that I've had the fluids, not 100% better but definitely better! She told me to double up on my Zofran when I start to feel nauseous and to push fluids and get as much fluid as physically possible and not worry about getting my daily protein or any of that right now cause main focus is getting enough fluids...

passing no gas...is that bad?
Leifysmom replied to Queen Bee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not to ask to me TMI but have you had a bowel movement? As a post op nurse on of things we keep an eye on is your BMs as anesthesias put your gut to sleep. If this is the case (no BM) I would call your doc, if your having BMs all is good. Good luck. Crystal -
Workout/motivational Buddy Anyone?
blackanese25 replied to blackanese25's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Im sorry to hear about your nausea, but it sounds like you are really doing wonderful. I keep wanting to try a boot camp class but my doctor really wants me to wait till i go in for my post op with the surgeon on the 27th so i figure i will wait before i start anything else that will force me to really work out. I am still hitting the gym 5 days a week, and i recently started running again, i make sure thats its a slow and steady run and im not pushing myself ridiculously hard, but i am taking it a little further each day. So hopefully im not over doing it, but i feel so good after my workouts. the only thing that has stopped me dead in my tracks is it that TOM, lol.. which really puts a damper on things. It started yesterday and in one day i gained 2 lbs. i was down to 212.1 sorry if thats TMI. lol... but other than that i think im doing well.. hopefully i am done by this weekend so i can get back to running. -
I had my surgery this afternoon. I've been in and out of sleep. The pain is very moderate. Honestly is just the gas. I've been trying to fart for a couple hours now lol tmi. The staff at my hospital are awesome. I'm not allowed to drink anything until tomorrow. Overall I feel great I hope I heal quickly. I'm so happy I did this????????????????

Stool softners help though stay away from laxatives because they cause cramping. This is TMI, but if it's "right there" but you can't get it out, I would try a suppository or enema. Going forward, drink LOTS of Water and consider a daily Fiber supplement.

Frustrated....what happened to my support???
kalex21211 replied to kalex21211's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That is hilarious! I love that idea! LOL And I think you are exactly right about the him feeling like I havent thought it through or making decisions too quickly. I guess it feels like that to him because he has 8 days of this, compared to my months and months, and secretly years of thinking about it.... My sister said to me today, "dont worry, pretty soon you will rock his world with the lights out!" LOL I told her I was gonna rock his world with the lights ON!! (sorry if that is TMI):001_smile: -
((sigh)) someone explain the TMI and fish connection.... I am sitting here puzzled.

Ok, this may seem like too much information, but I need to know if I'm the only one.... While on the two week preop liquid diet, I was in the bathroom at least once every 45-60 minutes to empty my bladder. I'm now 8 days post op, taking in 60+ ounces of fluids the same as before surgery, and I'm lucky to visit the bathroom 4 times a day. When I do go, it's not much. Is this normal with anyone else?

I don’t mean to post tmi but sweet baby Jesus The first poo was my absolute flipping nightmare. Like... why didn’t anyone warn me [emoji30][emoji30]40 minutes crying on the toilet and now my entire body hurts. I would rather endure an extra two week of clear liquids than experience that again. Holy.... I’m actually mad the hospital didn’t give me stool softeners or something. Jerks... lol Gastric bypass 1/24/18

Dated: August 13, 2009: Hi all, Well they let me go yesterday instead of waiting until today. That's the good news. I feel "ok" but mostly gassy from moment to moment and a bit of diarrha (green to boot), sorry I know TMI, but had to share. The surgery itself went smooth. I'm sore, I'm bloated, my stomach looks like I'm ready to deliver a bowling ball and someone tried to punch it out of me. Feel a bit weak from surgery, I'm sure. My tongue is coated with some white yucky stuff (what's that about?) I bought Isopure beforehand so I could start right in with the protein. Tastes like flavored dishwater to me. Hope that gets better cuz I bought like 10 of those stupid things. Mexicali was hotter than hell (113 degrees yesterday the day I left.) Dr. Aceves was in and out a bunch. He drinks Coke - all day long - I asked him about that, but he said he doesn't have a sleeve so he can do that! Dr. Campos is getting skinny. Sergio was a love. I asked for Lidocaine before IV insertion; they poo-poo'd me and stuck it in anyway and it hurt like a SOB, and I let that doctor know I was NOT happy about that, GD it!! They gave me a Morphine spinal - I was rolled into a ball and that's all I remember as I was out after that. Woke up OK in recovery. Had a drain which they left in for 3 days and looked like a 3 foot snake when they pulled it out. Fun stuff. My husband was amazed they could get that much in there! I feel weak, dragging around, somewhat envious that DH can eat and I cannot eat anything. Enough trouble trying to drink. Water and all liquids are a little tough going down. Tea is best cuz it's warm and feels good. I tried to eat that chicken broth in the hospital, but the smell and taste of it gagged me. Everyone is different. So this is day 4 for me as well, and hope it gets better fast cause I feel like a major pune. Oh, BTW, I did not have to remove any nail polish or nails. Yay for that!
-
Hey Guys, Hope today is better than yesterday. I walked around like a big gas bag burping and back-dooring gas all day, and peeing like a race horse. OK, TMI again. Sorry Yeah, that Isopure has got to go. I cannot stand the taste of it. I did not see on the Vitalady site where you can order samples of the Syntrax Nectar mix, just the big up plastic $30 jars of it. If I get it I just need to like it, ya know. GNC carries it too, but I'm sure not in all flavors, and shipping takes so long. I have other unflavored whey protein , so I guess I could mix that into different drinks. I tried Hawaiian Punch lite (or basically sugar-free) as suggested by Nina at Dr. A's, but gag me on that stuff. Too sweet. Taking pills is a real challenge too. I soaked the Nex Mups, but I also have to take a BP pill for awhile longer, and at night I take OTC Unisom to help sleep. Nothing is simple any more. On the up side, with all that water release yesterday I was down 3 pounds today. Of course that's just fluid retention not fat. One day at a time I guess.

I read vsg can help because the pressure on the internal organs is relieved. One mo out, I noticed just the opposite. I don't need any muscles to urinate. Any one else experience this reversal.?
