  1. I hate to hear that so many of us are experiencing stalls (including me) but I'm so happy in that I am not alone -- I was so afraid that I was messing something up and was alone in that! I did not do a pre-op diet and I lost 28 pounds in the week after surgery. Since then I've only lost about 2-3 pounds (depends on the days I've weighed). I know that I'm losing inches though because I can fit in clothes that I could not when I got home from surgery but it's still frustrating to not see those numbers move on the scale. I'm trying to stay positive by tracking my NSV's -- which I've had a few -- but it's so hard remaining upbeat when I go to weigh every couple of days and I end up yelling "Seriously!" in not a nice way at my scale.
  2. I had to poke another hole in my belt with an ice pick today. Pants were falling down again. Love it! I also had to cut the first part of the belt down because the tail was too long, traveling through 2 belt loops after I buckled it. I will need a new belt soon. Went from a 46 waist pants to a very saggy loose 40 now. BMI has went from 48 to 39 which takes me out of the morbidly obese category and now I'm just plain obese. Thought I would share. This sleeved life is good! 60 lbs down and 70 to go. I'm 2 months out. Woo hoo!!

    Small NSV

That's no small NSV in my book. You are doing amazing work! Just think 60 lbs in 2 months would have been unthinkable and you are totally rocking it!

My wife and I went out for dinner at one of the local soup and salad places. It is usually pretty busy at dinner, but tonight I guess the storms kept people home. So as we sat down I got a chuckle and said, "look honey the booth fits." Now looking forward to flying in October without having the fear of wondering if I will have to ask for an extender belt.
  9. Went out shopping with mom last night, to BJs of all places. Needed the necessities, bread, milk, eggs, cold cuts, you know the drill. So since it is totally freezing out in NJ and most of the country, i was walking past a stack of sweaters that were on clearance cause they have the spring clothes out. I picked one up on a whim, it was $12, and a medium, and cute. I said to mom, what do you think, she said it looks warm, I said it is $12 i think i deserve it. I put it on this morning and there is actually room in there!!! A FREAKING MEDIUM AND THERE IS ROOM!!!!! Thanks for letting me shout it out!! patti

    Hooray - NSVs!

In the past year, my cholesterol has dropped 34 points, my triglycerides plunged a whopping 114 points, my blood sugar dropped 6 points, and my blood pressure is 120/75. I got rid of 10 pounds of fat in the past 3 months and 2 inches are GONE from my waist. My pants that were once my sausage pants (you know, so tight basically like sausage casings for your thighs) are loose and comfortable. My shirts are getting baggy and my bra doesn't fill up like it used to. I am loving my lap band

So glad to hear how successfull you are and feel! Great NSV's. Shawn
  13. What a feeling! I stood on the scale at about midnight Saturday and yelled for my fiance. He jumped out of bed thinking something was wrong! Poor guy was sound asleep...but this was BIG! I was giggly and happy and bouncy (not enough to make the scale not read though...lol) I was 199. BETTER even...I made him stand on it and he was 200!!! I FINALLY WEIGH LESS!!! Today I was 198 and I'm hoping for 197 tomorrow! Woo hoo. I like this 1/2 pound a day speed...I'm just afraid it will end soon and I'll hit that wall...the stall...and be sooo sad! I will enjoy this and worry about a stall when it happens...I hope I get a few more weeks of this though...yippie!!!! Oh and NSV. Pt says to my practices other nurse, "I just love this office. Everyone is so wonderful. I was taken care of by the best 2 nurses...(about her) you're just so nice and she (about me) is so sweet and so pretty! ME>>>she called me pretty. Its silly but it really was a nice feeling! SLEEVED April 12th - 242 lbs 1st goal ONEderland - HIT IT!!!!! June 5th 199lbs Next goal - 4th of July challange hope to be 185lbs (still have 13lbs to lose...will I make it???)

Self Pay And Credit Card Question...

Surely there are too many variables involved for us to answer? It would depend on your credit cards and banks, as well as how the surgery processes the payments. You might get a more definitive answer by speaking with your bank/s and surgery. Good luck. PS Why not plan to use the miles/rewards points as a celebration for a post-surgery NSV? Something to work towards and look forward to.
  15. This morning I went to Have my license renewed, it was pretty awesome! They lady who helped me and took my pic just kept going on and on about how my new pic was sooo pretty and whatnot and how I looked like a different person. A first /NSV

Girl, you got the best NSVs lol (referring to your other post). You are having a great time. I am so happy they provided awesome customer service. I can't imagine shopping at VS and that it might be a bit intimidating to me.
  21. I had my surgery end of December and was riding normally in April. Including saddling, loading, etc. I felt perfectly OK to ride a month earlier, but most of our trails were still under several feet of snow and I find arena riding too boring. In fact, I scheduled my surgery specifically so it wouldn't interfere with riding. My work partner did the same thing with her hysterectomy....she had hers as soon as my weight lifting restrictions were over so at least ONE of us could do our jobs! Her doctor's official orders were 6-8 weeks out of the saddle and hers was a much harder recovery than my VSG. Oh yeah, and start looking for saddles...one of my favorite NSVs was going from an 18" seat to a 15" seat! Love my new saddle and love being able to hop up there without having to find a log or rock to stand on.
  22. I hid my scale. Needed some NSV (non scale victories)
  23. So....I stopped by the hospital this morning, to have my 3-month post-op labs drawn. When I started this process, my fasting glucose was slightly elevated (111)...in the "pre-diabetic" range. My HgbA1c was also slightly elevated (6.5)...also marking me as "pre-diabetic). Today's results?? Fasting glucose - 78!! HgbA1c - 5.6!! Both perfectly NORMAL (as were all the other tests performed)!!! I'm SO thrilled with this!! One of the major reasons I decided to have surgery was to avoid being diagnosed with diabetes...its truly a vicious disease, and I wanted nothing to do with it. NOW...just 11 weeks after having my surgery done...I am exactly where I wanted to be.....NORMAL!!! To be honest, this feels better than being able to say I've lost 100 pounds...because these numbers matter, in a real health sense, ya know?? WooHOO!!
