OMG... I am so happy Christmas NSV
waynooo replied to thinneranniesoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, Makes alot of sense. Congrats on your NSV! -
I finally weigh less than my hubby! woohoo (I totally don't care that he is more than a foot taller than me! lol) I also fit into the sweater I wore on our first date again and the same winter jacket too! It just feels great to be sliding into these clothes from 3 or four years ago and seeing them fit! I am also 13 pounds away from 100 lost and I will be able to go zip-lining! I would love to hear everyone else's NSV's too!

Hey ladies!! just thought I would share...2 more days until I hit the big 4-0 on Thursday. I had to go to DMV at lunch today to renew my driver's license. I was afraid of failing the vision test because I am supposed to wear reading glasses and didn't want to have to be told to wear them while driving. I was so preoccupied with that and not thinking about anything else. I also had to take a new picture. Well, I did not recognize myself. My old pic was taken like 8 years ago when I was like 350 and I never changed the weight. Well today not only did I get to change the weight to 225 but I got to say "who's that girl?". Big difference in the two pictures. I even look younger in the new picture and I'm even smiling & wearing a fuschia shirt:teeth_smile:

Lost Weight After Christmas Party + Some Nsvs, Long Post
minaleigh posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
First off, I just want to say I have the most supportive friends a person could ask for. My best friend in the whole wide world came to hospital every day the four days I was there after my surgery. He stayed for several hours, if he didn't have work, at a time, even when I was drugged up and sleeping. He even contemplated skipping one of his classes so he could stay with me, but I told him no, especially since finals were drawing near, lol. Now that that is out of the way, onto the story. I consider myself in between the pureed and soft food stage, because while I still puree some stuff, my doctor gave me the go ahead to try some soft foods. Like I said, my friends are super supportive. I went to a Christmas party at my friend's house, and the two that were planning the food put a lot of thought and consideration into what they would have at the party based on what I could eat. One of my friend's signature dishes is homemade mac and cheese, and she made it with reduced fat cheese so I could have it since more fattening cheese makes me very sick right now. They also had some sort of chili cheese dip and crab meat dip. They know soda is my weakness, mainly coke and sprite, so my friend hid it before I got there, lol! He even bought my favorite diet juice drink just for me and gave me a saucer sized plate so I couldn't overload. Well, at the party, I probably ate more than I should. I never really felt the signals that I was eating too much at one time (ie burping, slimies, etc), but it was more like I was grazing throughout the night. I started out with about, I'm really bad at measurements, 2-3 ounces of the chili cheese dip and a few noodles of the mac and cheese and it was amazing. Drank some juice afterwards and then stopped for about an hour, before I had some of the meat from the deli tray, probably about four pepperoni sized pieces. We started playing a game so I mainly sipped Water during that time. Afterwards, I had some more of the chili cheese dip and some crab dip on a couple of crackers (I know, I know, some consider carbs evil but I couldn't resist ) and a cube of cheese from the deli tray. All in all, I probably grazed on about 8 ounces of food in a 5 hour time period. By the end of the night, I realized I probably ate way too much, and I felt a bit of heaviness in my stomach, but luckily no nausea or slimies, just a bit of burping. The next day on Wednesday, I was reluctant to go on my scale because I was certain I had gained. Turns out, I had lost 1.2 pounds! Wasn't sure if I was ever going to say this, because in the beginning I severely regretted my surgery, but I love my sleeve! I tried on my favorite jeans last week and I can fit more than a hand's width in between the waistband and my stomach! I was even more surprised when I looked at the tag and saw they were actually a size 22, when I had thought they were a size 24! I wore them a few days later and while visiting my mom, she said, "you need to stop wearing those pants, they're practically hanging off your hips." It was a great feeling. I can now comfortably wear a size 20, when before they would be digging into my stomach so much, I'd resort to unbuttoning them and hope my shirt covered it. I work in a movie theater and we are given two t-shirts for work. Well, a week before my surgery last month, we got new shirts for the holiday season. I wasn't sure what size I needed so I had my manager give me an XL and 2X and I would just trade the size I didn't need for another of the size I did. Tried on the 2X first, and it was too big, so I tried on the XL and while a bit snug, it fit better. Yes, I was definitely pear-shaped because I could wear an XL shirt but needed size 24 pants. Well, the district manager was working with me the next day and I told her I needed to trade in my shirt. After one of the supervisors went upstairs to switch them out, he couldn't find another XL, so my manager suggested I just get a 2X. I politely told her no (since I knew I would be having the surgery in a few days and it'd be a waste), and I'm glad I did because now my XL is too big! It'll probably be another month before I can comfortably wear a size large, but it feels good to physically be able to see my weight loss. The first two weeks after my surgery, even though I was throwing up the whole time, I had cravings like crazy. I wanted pizza, nachos, bread, etc. Now that I'm a little more than a month out, my cravings have gotten better, except a time or two here and there. Well, for the aforementioned Christmas party, I was supposed to make Cookies. I made sugar cookies, and before my surgery I would use a spoon to get whatever leftover batter there was, but I really didn't have the temptation to this time. Well, I bought some vanilla whipped topping and used food coloring to make it red and green, for Christmas. While stirring, naturally I got some on me. The first time I did was the only time I licked it off, out of habit mainly, but after realizing what I did, it was pretty easy to just keep a paper towel next to me to wipe it off. To me, that's a big accomplishment. Those are my NSVs (so far ) and sorry for the long post! I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season! -

My first NSV
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to *Glitter*In*The*Air*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yippy for you! They will just keep coming from here, Some of my first NSVs were things like putting on non wide calf boots, wearing a normal hotel towel instead of a sheet LOL Walking 3-5 miles and not really feeling much, picking my son up with out heaving him over my hip. losing my shoe size by 2 and having ot buy new shoes, shopping at VS for real size bras and panties. borrowing a skinny friends clothing and them fitting better than on her. Hugging my husband or being intimate with him and feeling very close rather than a body in between us. -
So, I will admit it. I am a southern hick and I love it. I'm heading to Nashville in about 2 hours. We are going to the Jack Daniels Distillery tomorrow and then end the evening with Darius Rucker and Brad Paisley in concert. Sunday is marked to hit my old stomping grounds (I went to college there in the late 80's) and then a quick stop by the Bookstore on Monday to buy a new sweatshirt (since mine are WAY too big now)! I am so excited I can hardly stand it!!! But ... for the VSG part of this post ... I have to say that packing last night was so much fun. Temps are supposed to be in the mid-60's so I was able to pack some lighterweight clothes and 1 or 2 warmer items for the evenings. Packing small clothes takes up so little space - I used a smaller bag than I used to pack for weekend trips. I love it!!!!!! I'm counting that as my NSV for the month!

I love these NSV's they're the best! CONGRATS!

This is truly a wonderful NSV! You will have many more to come!

Today, I went to a friends job to pick up some cosmetics she ordered me. She works @ St. Vincent's Medical Center, which sits on a hill & had notoriously crappy parking. So after I finally weddgie my big 'ol truck into a teeny tiny space at the bottom of the hill, I headed up to the main hospital...that's when it hit me...the last time I was at this hospital, I was attending the first of many weight loss seminars, and I remember nearly passing out trying to walk up the hill And here I am, 14 weeks post sleeve today, down 70 lbs and I breezed up that hill without a pause! I wasn't even breathing hard when I got to the top! Tiny Sleevie has made the impossible possible & I am sooo blessed to be on this journey. I would do it all over again without a moment's hesitation! I feel wonderful...and yes, I'm looking pretty darn rockin' good these days! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Woo hoo! Awesome NSV! For me after losing -70lbs my wedding ring no longer fits, it falls off. I have a crazy small ring finger (sz 5.5), and fear that when all is said and done I will be below a size 5. Not a bad problem to have, just sucky waiting to lose more so I can have my ring resized to fit.

FINALLY! Onederland! I can't remember the last time I didn't see a "2" as the first number on the scale. Seeing the "1" this weekend was just surreal. I think I must have stepped on and off the scale at least 10 times. What a motivator! I feel like I've accomplished the impossible and now ANYTHING is possible!! ~40 to go (I'd like to hit 50 just to have some wiggle room). For those who might be struggling after the first couple of months - Months 1-3 were EASY - weight just fell off. Month 4+, slowed A LOT (as in less than 8 a month) - Being able to eat pretty much anything I wanted without having an upset stomach didn't help. I was hoping to be under 200 by the end of December. Stalled (much of it my fault for choices I made, and simply my body catching up), got frustrated, felt sorry for myself, etc...and at times even wondered if it was possible or if I was just going to stop there with my weight loss. Booked a vacation and decided that I WOULD be under 200 before I left (next Sunday - nothing like cutting it close!). Got back on plan, made better choices, and quit feeling sorry for myself and WOO HOO - Major goal #1 accomplished. If you're struggling, hang in there, refocus, know you aren't alone in this journey and make up your mind that you CAN do this. NSV's this week - I didn't see the "OMG, PLEASE let this fat lady be seated ANYWHERE but beside ME on a plane" look. People actually look me in the eye rather than past me. Servers @ restaurants are concerned that the food they served me wasn't good because I didn't eat much. I got more work accomplished onsite because I didn't need a lunch break (quick protein bar and I was good to go). I could go to ANY store and buy some cheap clothes for vacation - Can't wait to rock that bathing suit coverup in Hawaii next week!

I had a NSV today. Weighed in at 168. Down a 103 lbs from my high weight of 272. Went shopping and bought a size 12 bathing suit and size 12 Bermuda shorts. Still can't believe it. Had surgery oct. 13th. Tried on some size 12 jeans one pair fit perfect and the other pair were a little snug in. The belly I'm getting that droopy belly and forget about the boobs will need a reducation and lift someday . Good luck to all future sleeves it's been a ride for sure.

Nsv - No More Extender For My Seatbelt!
Rebecca Cain Salpacka posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When i bought my car in 07, i was embarrassed that i couldnt fasten the driver seat belt ( i didnt think to try it when i was checking out the car) so i had to buy an extender so i could wear the seat belt...uggh! well about 2 months ago, i tried to use the seatbelt without it, and i could fasten it, i was very excited but..it was very tight and i struggled to get the buckle to snap. This morning as i got in the car to drive my son to school...he asked me to try again..so i did...and it was easy breezy..and comfortable! NO MORE EXTENDER FOR ME!!!!!!! -
Odd NSV but I'll take it!
AutumnLily replied to Foxbins's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
OMG I just noticed that the other day and was thinking I must be crazy! I was trying to figure out how my seat got lower. Never thought it was my tushy that was smaller. Awesome NSV I must say. Now how to adjust my seat? Will I need a booster seat when I get to goal -
Nsv --- Good Multi-Colored Tights!
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I've always thought Hue makes the best opaque control top tights. But at sizes 4 and 5 they only come in black and brown. Today I fit into a size 3 of a grey pair I bought long ago for "just in case." Now I'll be able to get purple and pink and orange and blue and every color under the sun!!! Yay!!! (Not that I will get orange . But I can!!) Yay!! -

I've noticed the same thing with some foods. Unfortunately, I'm occasionally not as smart as you and I have to take a few bites trying to convince myself that I still "love" the food. I guess my NSV would be that I've recently learned to let it go after a bite and not liking it. It doesn't always happen, but I'm working on it. Congrats on your successes! Amanda
