How's the genepro protein? I just ordered some and should be here soon. I'm having trouble finding an unflavored protein that isn't awful tasting. Also, congratulations on your win! That's exciting.

There are hundreds of whey Protein powers to choose from. The best thing to do is to get samples from different companies and try them. Don't buy a lot before surgery because your taste and tolerance might change. I've used unjury and Premium chocolate shakes, and for me, both are very hard to take. They have a very strong whey taste and smell and they are very sweet.I discovered GENEPRO Protein from theses board and that's all I use now. You can find it at Amazon.com and the company websit a Muscleglen Research. It is odorless, tasteless, and can be mixed in hot liquids and most anything. Best of luck on your surgery! Carol

puttingme1st replied to puttingme1st's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
All I can go off is my nutritionist, my surgeon, my GP and my hematologist. . All put genepro at the top of their list. I have to believe in what they say. -

A few months ago I read a thread on here where a man mentioned using a Protein powder that is similar to GENEPRO but less expensive. I unfortunately cannot remember the name of that product, but perhaps you could do a keyword search and locate that thread. It's possible that powder is available in the UK. You could also try posting your question on the listing for Genepro on Amazon. Ask if they know of a distributor that ships to the UK, and alternatively, and if there's a similar product to try. Other Amazon consumers can reply to questions in addition to the vendor, and they might be able to offer more direction. http://www.amazon.com/Musclegen-Research-Genepro-Medical-Servings/dp/B00K6OSDYA

Finally growing tired on chocolate premier shakes. Going to switch to genepro for a few weeks and come back. What shakes do you guys prefer?

I also needed something not sweet at that stage, Progresso has a light French onion soup. I would strain out the onions and then add my unflavored GENEPRO Protein powder to it. So yummy and savory!!!!!

Diet During First 2 weeks
BajanSleeve replied to California joe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@California joe There is tons of information on the internet to help guide you. It seems that each doctor recommends slightly different to the next but its generally the same. Mine was liquids only for 2 weeks and then by 3 weeks I could add more things like milk, yogurt, blended vegetables in my soups, a teaspoon of peanut butter etc. I am still eating pureed only foods at 5 weeks post surgery. I cant tolerate whole meats yet only blended in soups and I can eat very little solids like pasta or rice, only about 4 spoon fulls. From what I gather you just test yourself as the weeks go on as to what your body likes and can tolerate. I can't tolerate eggs at all and they really hurt when I try to eat them. You will learn what you can eat by what your body will tell you within the guidelines of each week. Some people tend to stay in one phase for longer than others because that is what is working for them By week 2 you should be adding protein powders to your drinks. I use the unflavoured protein which mixes into any liquids - your tea, drink, soup, etc. The protein makes you feel more satisfied and gives you more energy. I posted the link to the protein powder I use. It does not change the flavor of your food or drink https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/genepro-medical-grade-protein-powder-2nd-generation -
I just got GENEPRO unflavored last week and I love it so far. Absolutely can't taste it, and it doesn't change the texture at all.

Try blending ice cubes and non-fat milk with your Protein Powder, that makes a nice change. I use a brand called Vitaleph, which is recommended by my surgeon. I am on my 3rd week of the shakes, and it is getting boring. I got some of the GENEPRO Protein powder and mix that with Water. I never really liked broth before, but I like it just fine now. I have a cup of that in the evening. Hang in there...it's only for now. Surgery Date December 6th in Tijuana. Just 2 more sleeps!

Protein shakes?
rspk1963@gmail.com replied to allisonmarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, premier protien shakes 30 grams are good. They just came out with banana and caramel. Atkins 20 grams has some drinks that are good too. I was also told about genepro powder 30 grams odorless, tasteless and can be mixed in hot and cold into anything. I found it in one of my GNC'S or else they have it online. Good luck. -
I do 8-10 ounces of milk with a serving of genepro each morning instead of a shake. It's not too sweet.

I had my band removed in May, then had RNY on 09/24. My favorite thing to eat right now is sugar free jello cheesecake pudding. I make it with Fairlife Milk and add two scoops of GenePro!

I like genepro from gnc - i put it in a container of greek yogurt and cannot taste it. Sent from my LGMS550 using BariatricPal mobile app

Try genepro. Mix it with crystal light, water or whatever liquid you’re allowed to have. If you mix it with warm broth, mix it first with cold water and add slowly to broth. Odorless and tasteless. I still use it

GENEPRO has helped me soooo much with this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Starting Liquids on Monday....any tips?
trekker954 replied to finding_onederland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GENEPRO seems to be the unflavored Protein powder that many of us prefer. There is absolutely NO taste and mixes well with everything. If you go to their website, they sell ounce sample packs (30 grams each) so you can test them out first to make sure before you invest in the big tub. I'm forcing down a caramel premier Protein shake right now, ugh. But definitely going to have Genepro with some fluids for dinner. -
So.... going back to work definitely heightened my anxiety PLUS the fact that I've only lost 15lbs since April 25th. What I do now is take a walk thru the building when my anxiety kicks in at work. I put up a "restroom" sign & start walking. It has helped my anxiety tremendously, however this stubborn weight is taking its time to leave me. I purchased Genepro protein to ensure I get all my protein in. Try walking more with deep breaths in & out for your anxiety. I wish you the best of luck!!!

Ok to sip on protein all day post-op?
gina171 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed what a huge challenge many folks have with consuming enough Protein in the first weeks post op. I am planning for my post op days and was wondering....is there any reason I can't mix unflavored Protein powder (Genepro) into my Water or crystal light and just sip on it all day long? Or drink watered down Syntrax nectar instead of plain water? This would be in addition to my powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein shakes, of course. Thx! Protein powder taste?
ShelterDog64 replied to SandyinFL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used Isopure for a very short time, then I just couldn't stand it in anything. I switched to GENEPRO and am very happy with it. I can't smell or taste it at all.
