Okay...yes I know this right off the bat is a TMI thread but I'm sure Im not the only one with this type of question..so here it goes... How many days between bowel movements have you guys expereinced after surgery ? I had one 3 days post op and then one the day after but it's been 3 days since then and I've got nothing !! should I take a laxative w/ stool softener ?? I've always been VERY regular !!!
-
So I have always had a problem with bowel movements. I get constipated really really easily. I haven't had a bowl movement since before my surgery. (I am 5 days post op) Is it okay to take some stool softeners/laxatives? If so, how many should I take? Before surgery I would have to take up to 7 capsules to even budge a little bit. I'm really scared to take too many.

I hated orlistat! I had to wear a huge tampon to protect my pants and my office chair from orange leakage! TMI!

You know that miraculous restraint I mentioned in my previous blog?? Well, scratch that! I caved yesterday. In my defense, I was sick. I skipped breakfast (I know, BAD!), then had 4 or 5 tortellenies(sp) from the healthy choice soup and threw the rest away. About two hours later, I took some meds to help with my horrible cold and the headache that came with it. 45 minutes later, I was throwing up muccus (I apologize for the TMI). It was awful! It was the first time I had thrown up since surgery and I am so nervous that it hurt something. I was at my moms and had such a horrible taste in my mouth, that I grabbed the first thing I could find and ate it...which happened to be a chocolate rice krispy treat. That was the first thing I've had sweet since surgery. That wasn't the only thing I had either but I won't bore you with the details of the day's menu and my bad choices. I did still manage to stay under my calories, but they certainly weren't GOOD calories! Then this morning I get to work and the post man brings in a Harry & David treat basket! I feel like crying. I had one chocolate covered cherry (50 calories) and that's all I'm planning on having. I didn't have breakfast yet again (not on purpose, I thought I had something in the fridge, but I didn't). I feel like crying! It's funny because I helped throw a bridal shower on Sunday and there were sooo many yummy treats but I didn't cave then! I didn't even have the baked zitti (which I LOVE!). I had 4 meatballs. 2 for Lunch, 2 for dinner. I actually skipped breakfast that day too. Totally not like me. Also, another bad thing I've been doing, is taking a sip here and there either right before and/or right after eating. It's not a lot. Just sips. I feel like it's really unrealistic to not drink anything at all an hour before and an hour after eating. I'm trying my best and most of the time I succeed, but I just can't help myself. I know I just need to jump right back on the band wagon. I've proved to myself I can do this. I just hate this feeling of guilt!! I hate feeling like I'm on a diet. Oh and another interesting story! I went to pick up a friend from the airport and we stopped at Cheesecake Factory on the way back. The cool thing about that place is that they tell you how many calories is in EVERYTHING and they have a separate menu for people who are trying to eat better. Anyways, I ordered the crab bites (suuuuupppperrr yummy!!! and only 400 calories!) and a peach smoothie (300 calories). My friend that was with me told me I needed to eat more...that I was starving myself. I thought that was hilarious! Actually, that was the most calories I've had since surgery (counting my breakfast and lunch that day). Miraculously, I lost weight over the weekend. 1.2 pounds to be exact. Very odd. I have a feeling my bad behavior from yesterday will catch up to me though. I pray it doesn't, but these things have consequences! I also heard that we are having pizza delivered as a Christmas gift to us on Friday. I love pizza! I just want to cry :*( I'm afraid I'm starting to become obsessive and psychotic about food. I didn't want that. I don't want to be weird about this. I just want to be NORMAL!! Anyways, that's today's rant!!

Hey everyone! I'm back.... Sorry I haven't posted lately. This is my first day to work this week. I woke up about 2:00 AM Saturday feeling, not right. Really nauseous and yucky. Well, that was the beginning of 72 hours of vomitting and diarreha... evidently I got the stomach flu/virus that has been going around. NOT FUN!!! Have you guys every really had to vomit since being banded? Well, I hadn't. I have never even PB'd. I was sooo scared that with each time I was gonna cause my band to slip. I ate my first food last night since Saturday evening.. and I still seem to have restriction and I haven't had any reflux or anything, so hopefully everything is fine with my band. Man, I hope none of you guys ever get this stomach virus, it was bad. My entire chest, neck, and back area is sore from all the wretching. After not having eaten for almost three days and all that came with the virus, I lost about 3 lbs. Which means that since my highest weight, I've lost 101 lbs. This WAS NOT how I wanted to celebrate my 100 lbs lost! Thanks for listening everyone, sorry if it was TMI. Remember WASH YOUR HANDS CONSTANTLY!!! Especially if you go to the gym and use equipment after other folks.. this may be where I picked this thing up from. Okay.. enough about me.. MARZ, I'm sooo glad that your nephew is home and doing better. I'm sure that the billboard was awesome for him, that was so considerate of you guys. Linda - Keep up the great work! Neal - your family is adorable, congrats on the fitting into the seat thing. Don't you just love that? Alicia - I'm planning a "Girlfriend Getaway" for my anniversary with my best buds in the world... got to get it planned... Vegas? The Caribbean? Who knows? Paladin - how's the job thing?the move? When is 3loves getting that fill? Later Maysters!

I don't think it's TMI. We have to help each other here. (I can type better now versus being on my phone.) Please, everyone, do your best to get in you fluids. There is no, repeat NO pain like kidney stone pain and I ended up evening having surgery and a stint - another event that I never want to repeat!! I didn't see blood - that would have easily confirmed it for me since I'm post-hysterectomy - but the pain was unreal! The stint was . . . indescribable. I just still don't know what to say and this was February 2017. I'm still shook.

I'm pretty sure that I passed a stone about 5 weeks postop although I never sought help. My back hurt for three days and it hurt to go to the bathroom. TMI alert: after about 7 hours of overnight agony, I wiped and there was blood ... I assumed I was starting my period (ugh) but immediately all my pain was gone.... Definitely call....I didn't and now I feel like I have undocumented issues. I

Banded & Hoping to get Preg - join in!
LuckyGirl replied to eejaydiva's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hey Ej, You might want to keep an eye on your discharge... I know that's gross but that's when you are usually ovulating - when you have a slimy whitish discharge. You can usually see it on your undies or on your tp when you wipe - I know - gross and tmi but seriously - that's what I look for and it's easier to see that than use an ovulation kit! Read some of the baby websites about this.. -
Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
sweetbean70 replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello! I'm on day 6 of my 11 day pre-op diet. I kind of did things a bit backwards by scheduling my surgery date and then going in for my EKG, psych eval, nutrition consult, etc. Because of my timeline, I didn't have a full 14 days to do my pre-op diet. I am being banded on June 8. At my surgery consult, I told the nurse that I didn't have a full 2 weeks for my diet and she told me that it wouldn't be a problem b/c I'm "pear-shaped." This means that I do not carry most of my excess weight around my liver, but rather through my butt, hips, and lower belly. My pre-op diet is a combination of Medifast and Healthwise products. With the Medifast, I also get to eat 1 meal that is "lean + green" (6oz of lean protein and 3 servings of a green veggie). I thought I would try to eat only the products, but I felt so crappy yesterday that I had a baked chicken breast and some sliced cucumbers w/ white vinegar and black pepper (yummy). I feel much better today. I also noticed yesterday that I had an awful taste in my mouth and was constantly thirsty. (TMI) My urine was also very strong smelling. I asked the nutritionist at my surgeon's office about these symptoms and she said that I was probably in ketosis. This happens when you are burning up your fat storage. :frown: -
hey there! been healing away. since i am now one week post op, thought i would give an update!!! was doing well overall with lots of soreness and some actual pain. had trouble getting liquids for about three days but finally am doing a lot better. (did about 23-28 oz those three days sipping as much as i could… then have been increasing since) was burping with every single sip for three days. also had issues with gas pains that would randomly come on and feel like my sternum would rip in half. moving makes such a big difference !!! i Tuesday and wednesday i started to have a lot of pain/tugging and difficulty with my main incision … the bruising around it spread like deep healing bruises do and i think that was part of the issue. it also felt like a hard lump under the incision area there. i talked to my surgeon and said that was all normal and just keep at it as long as i didn’t get fever over 100 or it started getting red… this morning it feels a lot better, but still hurts… big victory for today is that i can sit and stand more comfortably than the last two days!!! i was finally able to “go” 5 days po.. no real problem but had the runs yesterday… i know, tmi but it’s what we go through zero real hunger and no real desire to even drink but doing it because I have to … i am only down 4.4 lbs so far (actually went up for the two days i was in acute pain this week) … but i am ok with that because my body is healing and know that is more important during this first healing stages… i am wary about going back to work next week part time. know i am going to be slow and really take it easy… i should be fine but know how doing nothing exhausts me lol (i am in bed before 830 every night… used to be 11 easy) hows everyone else in the early stages of post op????

Ohhh my surgery was 4 hours. Started at 1 on Tuesday and was not done until 6 with the hour of recovery. It has not been easy guys. Anesthesia was hard on me. It took me a long time to come out of. Even still I didn't get any sleep Tuesday night. Anesthesia had me very itchy and gave me weird dreams. The beds are so tough to sleep in too. I have had broth and water but cannot tell when I'm full. I wonder if my pain is hunger or internal incision pain. I was not able to walk until Wednesday morning which was tough!!!! I feel very lightheaded. I also have a lot of gas and diarrhea. Yikes. Tmi, sorry.

Hey guys~ well I'm now 9 days post op and today I am soooo tired. Complete lethargy. I haven't been this tired yet. Seems weird because I'm on mushy foods and getting more nutrients than I had the first week post op. My goodness, I'm a walking zombie! I'm also having dull aches in my back, specifically near my kidneys. I'm drinking about 64 oz of water per day but can't kick the dull ache. Any ideas or advice? I currently have heating pad on my back and it's helping a lot!! Oh also, TMI but I'm back to having regular BMs but this morning there were oil drops in the water...??? What is that?!?! I have been very strict on the diet so can't imagine where that's coming from. I am so glad to have you guys to bounce questions and ideas off of. Thank you in advance!!!☺️

June 29th Bypass Surgery
Arianna0228 replied to smrogg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So one thing that has happened to me... may be a little tmi, haha. I haven't had a regular period in like 7 years or so to the point where I would go a year and a half without one ect. Well I had one right after the surgery, and then right at a month later.... so looks like that's starting to turn around -

So we removed the pain ball and that went really smoothly the tape being so stuck to the skin was the hardest part. However once the tape was gone the binder that has been keeping me all nice and tight keeps sliding up and down so i put a tank top on then the binder seems to help but my skin is really irritated. So here is tmi if you want to stop reading. I urinate daily and have bm's every other day they are loose and gassy. Today though i had a normal bm. That made me happy lol. It's funny how life works. I can't remember if i already mentioned the spotting but that is still happening the nurses in hospital said it is very common with female patients. Now working on creative ways to make it to 80 grams of Protein and getting in my eight cups. I got close yesterday but still working on it with out hurting my self. Anyways that is my update for those that are interested. Oh and pain is quite a bit better i am now able to shift in bed and give my back a break. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

I’m 5 days post op and my belly rumbles loud Like an irritated volcano and I have diarrhea (tmi?) 6-7 times a day. Is this normal?
-
Ok so I am on day three.. I am allowed full liquids today. For brkfast I had 1/3 cup of protein shake. Then around noon I ate liquidifed homemade veggie soup. At four I had 1/3 cup of oatmeal really runny. After each meal I was stunned to know that I was full. I had a tightness in my chest and I was done. It was so exciteing. That was the first real conformation that I had a BAND!!! hehe I am so sick of being sore. The doctors telling me that he has had pat. go back to work two days after surgery is BS. I am so sore and I can't bend over for anything. I get this hot burning sensation on my left side but its not where the insision is. I guess that is where the port is attached.. I have been tootin up a storm.. Man I keep wondering where all this gas has come from, every five mins I let one rip!!! TMI oh well my journal!! I know I have a few more days of rest but man I am so sick of not getting to excersise. My dd has been doing hers and she wants me to do them with her so bad but I just can't.. I tried to do leg lifts with her and you don't relize how much you use your stomach muscles to lift your legs... My dh sais he is so nervous now because he saw me at the hospital in pain. I told him it would be fine, but hes never had any surgery so he is terrified.. I have meet some awsome people on this site and have made some great friends. Kmo and Lmo are a trip. The three of us have all been banded at the end of july. I think we are going to plan a trip in exactly one year... That would be so fun.... My kids are starving so I guess I need to go feed them....

Gastric Sleeve Surgery is it painful?
Elidh replied to Nikki50's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery day before yesterday. I expressed my concern to the surgeon that I cannot tolerate narcotics, opioids, etc., and even the most potent anti-nausea drugs do not touch the awful unrelenting vomiting I have with them (sorry, TMI). So he administered a TAP block when I went under anesthesia. Post-op, I had IV ibuprofen, toradol, and oral liquid Tylenol. Absolutely no pain whatsoever in the hospital. I had minimal discomfort last night at home, but no worse than if I had done a bunch of sit-ups. I was quite pleased 😊 -
Two alternative ways to get "unstuck"
want_so_bad replied to Marmite_crumpet's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
if i raise my arms above my head and kinda jump around, that has helped. (at home only, lol) i have tried pineapple juice once. hurt like hell and i ended up just throwing it up. and then later whatever it was that was stuck. maybe i drank too much? i dont know. ok, and this is gonna be way tmi, but...i swear, like 50% of the time i am stuck, i also have to have a bm. and if i poo, i am no longer stuck. how freakin weird is that??? -
This is majorly TMI....but seriously, folks....a bulb syringe and some warm soapy water....just a squirt or two...makes a world of difference. No straining, no cramps. Kinda gross for some folks, but I'm a little clinical about these things...and the instant relief without side effects makes it worth it to me.

Has Anyone Had Successful Ivf With Lap Band?
Jim1967 replied to Kekebefree's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hi Kekebefree,,, I have been and still am on clomiphene 3 days a week and I take Arimidex once a day. My Urologist found my estrogen level was a little high and was interfering with my testosterone. His hope was correcting this issue would increase my count and it did but very very little. For 7 months we monitored and I had analysis done. Doctor informed me after 7 months we did all we could with medicine and that Surgery was the next step to see if there is a blockage and see if he could extract specimen to use for IVF. On March 28, 2012 I had the surgery and no blockage was found but they managed to extract a little viable sperm. Doctor said it was very little and it would be wise for a back up plan for donor sperm just in case. My Wife and I are still on the fence on that one but a decision needs to be made soon as the IVF is going to start on her next cycle. As you can see I am pretty open guy and perhaps I over shared here but you're husband has nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. Sexual dysfunction comes in a variety of ways and it is a serious health issue for men and women. It can play havoc both mentally and physically. Here is a link that has an overview of the procedure: http://malereproduct...erm-aspiration/ I can go into more detail on the surgical procedure and recovery if your interested. We can even have a private conversation if you like. Either through here or I can message you my email address. Also, I still continue to take the meds listed above and will continue to do so. Without getting too much more into TMI I take those meds because of the increased drive and performance and on the non-sexual front I have increased motivation. I have blood tests and see my Urologist every 6 months to ensure all is well. All the best,,,Jim -
Post op 8 weeks help !
worm2872 replied to heather81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep I gain a pound or two all the time. Right now I am up a pound. It is just your body adjusting. Don't worry it will come off again. Also, along with salt and water retention, watch your "bathroom" habits. I know TMI but that can make a HUGE difference.
