About freaking time!!!---first fill
Jeanieg6 replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
oh my, never heard of that! congrats on your first fill! let me know if all goes ok. i still can't burp or if i do it is so tiny i have to wonder if that is a burp. lol i still have a horrible pain when eating at least one meal every single day since my fill on April 1st, the joke was on me! i t feels like some one is stabbing me and can last from 10 minutes to 1hour plus. i don't know why something gets stuck every day. i am paying attention. never happens with hot Cereal or pudding or liquids of course but anything solid can get stuck there. i only had 1.6 and don't know if i'll ever get more if this does this every day for ever. i HAVE to stick my finger down my throat to get a burp for a little relief and if i puke it is just the slime. TMI? well i just don't know what to do. hoping yours goes really well! -
Please Help.. Nowhere to turn...ZERO resistance in my lap band
Raenglehart06 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Its a long story, and I wont bore with the details, but basically this is it. I was banded in Oct 2009.. Have had LOTS of sensitivity problems with band, the nurse who did all of my fills (the only one I trusted to access my port) left the practice and myself & a bunch of other patients followed her to the new practice. I saw her once there and had a fill at 4 cc's.. Then went for my next fill and found out she left that practice too. Its now been about 9 months or so since ive seen anyone at either practice, and I still only have 4 cc's in my band. I always have had a very hard time eating anything and have not been successful at all with my wieght loss. I have 2 young kids and frankly just dont have the time... So anyway.. Last week we went out to eat to a hibachi restaurant for my husbands bday. I didnt eat much, but adterwards violently vomited. That night & the whole next day I was very very sick. Nausea, passing out.. Even diarrhea (sorry, tmi) I developed a high fever too. I eventually got over it but never found out the cause... But ever since that vomitting episode, I have had absolutely ZERO resistance in my band. Its like it emptied itself or something! Is this even possible?? Should I just go back to my original surgeons office? Someone please help.. -
Almost too embarrassing to admit, but...

I love the reality of your posts. Never TMI, just much appreciated honesty that we can all relate to at some point in our journey! -
Today hasnt been bad. I am still having shoulder paint husband brought me some icy hot strips and they work wonders!! No pain meds today!!! As of yet.. And I been walking through the house non stop! Gas is moving but no bm ( tmi sorry) dr says I need to drink g2 for strength but I take two swallows and feel like I have drank a gallon! No desire to eat food and no appetite at all and the smell of food is really causing me nausea. The last two days I woke I didn't think about food or what to eat for breakfast. My mind was on being healthy and going back to work Monday. I love my dr who did my lapband! Dr bagnoto from albany Georgia

Two Questions.....
shrinkingfatchick85 replied to Sunnyd623's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your surgery date!!! I found gas pains minimal as long as I forced myself to walk at least a few minutes ever hour and at night I would use a hitting pad to relax my abdomen muscles enough to let the gas out(maybe a little TMI but it was very helpful for me). As far as the drinking, well not drinking, it was definitely an adjustment at first. I used a timer for a long time to remind me of the rules. Honestly there are times I still set a timer to refocus myself when I get off track. Staying focused and remembering the rules will help keep you successful. -
Do You Have A Secret Goal?

I can't wait to feel sexy! And probably this will be TMI but I can't wait to for new ways... -
So I know I'm not alone in having bowel movement changes post surgery and I can't really talk about the embarrassing things that have happened because of this with other people who haven't had the surgery. So on to the TMI situation. Nearly every month right before I get my period I have a BM that clogs the toilet at work. Today it happened and I was panicking because the toilet would not flush. I had to get creative to actually fix it. If this happened once and never again, it wouldn't be a huge deal, but it is has happened, specifically at work, three or four times already. Does anyone else have embarrassing issues with BMs after they have surgery?

Help to contact doctor or not
pookluvp replied to pookluvp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
None of those. Just pain. Now I think the back pain was gas because (tmi) I just went to the bathroom and it's gone but thanks guys -
Thanks for all the advice. I talked to my coffee lady today and we're going to do 1 small coffee each day for a few days, then half-caff for a few days and then all decaf after that. I wish I wouldn't have even tried that this weekend, oh well live and learn. I really hope to stay off of it for good this time. This is probably TMI but my doc has been telling me for years that quitting caffeine would reduce the cysts in my breast tissue that cause me pain around that time of the month so might as well. After caffeine it's on to sugar, which I don't think will be quite as bad.

Suddenly Single... now what?
dramagirl28 replied to dramagirl28's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you guys so much for the support. I can't imagine doing this without him. He has never had trouble with weight but somehow always knew exactly what to say. When he said I was beautiful, I actually believed him. I have a lot of work to do on myself. I know WLS is right for me but it seems so scary now. I've been prepping for it since October of last year, all in the context of our relationship and our future. I'm going to be getting my surgery date in the next week or two and I know that will really set things in motion and I feel like I'm struggling to put this in the new context of my life without him (which I can't even imagine right now). Breakups suck in general. I really didn't need this added complication. I think it will only emphasize how alone I am. The funny thing is that since he broke up with me I haven't been able to eat anything really. Just thinking about the smell of food made me sick to my stomach. When I did manage to convince myself to put something in my mouth, I couldn't bear the taste or texture. I was so hungry but so sick to my stomach. I turned to Protein shakes just to quiet the rumbling and to get in some nourishment. I kept thinking "get used to this--this is what it's going to be like post-op!" Today is the first day I haven't thrown up due to stress (tmi?) and I was actually able to eat two decent meals. Anyway, thanks for listen to me ramble. My friends and family have been supportive about the breakup but this element of it needed some specialized attention. -
Dumping? (TMI sorry) I gotta know
Pam Peltz posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had an episode at work... My bowels just emptied very liquidy with very little warning. I had to come home to shower and change. Is this dumping? Other than slightly queasy no other symptoms. I ate a cookie about 2 hours before. One of those Samoans. And then I had a sucker; small round grape one. Please help!! Gotta know what to do. -
Having Lap-Band to Gastric Sleeve revision
ctarantino replied to littlebare's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm now 6 days post op and every day I wake I feel better and soooooo happy I did this! Definitely needed my tool back. Minimal pain, I'm off all pain meds. I take Carafate acid reducer and reflux meds and nausea meds on occasion. I haven't gone # 2 and have taken colace so today gonna bring out the big guns (dulcolax) and hopefully poop. ((Sorry tmi))) ???????? backed up my belly is still beyond swollen, but can feel I'm losing weight. I'm sipping water and protein shake by day. At night I sit with the family and have my broth and a 1/4c tea before bed. So complaints here and so happy this is behind me!!! Happy Sleeve day to others and my revision sisters!!! ???????????????????? -
I started my day with a dr appt at 9:30 am this morning. Still feeling a little weak and not ready to drive so my husband drove me. Plus I took pain meds last night. I guess I tried to turn over while sleeping and woke up with some nasty pain. Turning over in my bed is difficult! Well I got on the scale at the dr office and was down to 264!:tongue2: I started at 277 and was 271 at my last nutrition class which was on the 19th. When they weighed me at the hospital Monday prior to surgery I was 278  I told them their scale really sucked! Boy did it feel good to see the scale today!!! And what was even better I can move on to pureed foods this week!! I can have puree soups, protein shakes, applesauce, OATMEAL, and cream of wheat! I used my magic bullet to puree Progresso chicken vegetable soup. Looking forward to that! I still have gas issues but hopefully they will go away soon! Waiting for my bowels to return to normal (sorry TMI). First day with no Tylenol! The other issue I have is taking a deep breath I feel pressure..is this normal? Any good puree recipes/ideas? Thanks for the support!

I think Im starting to feel hunger now :huh2:. And those stupid soups are not filling me up! Im so done with soup its not even funny. Just putting it in my mouth makes me wanna gag!!! Oh.. and never in my life do I wanna see yogurt and pudding :cursing:!!! It's soo crazy that everyone on here has a way different diet plan after surgery. I was reading about a "Mushy" stage. WTF!!!! Why dont I get a freaking mushy stage :crying:?!?! No... all I get is a 6 week full liquid stage and then on week 7: Real food. WTH is that about? So my diet pretty much consists of whatever I had for the clear liquid diet and yogurt, milk, and creamy soups (blended). So yea....Week 2. In the beginning of last week I did something really bad :frown:... I cheated. But shhhhhh, my husband doesn't know :wink2:. I took like 3 bites of a pizza but spit them out. Then I ATE the 4th bite :crying:. We then went to the mall and I had my first experience with "Dumping Syndrome"!!!! All I have to say is OMG!!!!!! Guys... It is sooooo not worth it!!!! Worst thing that ever happened to me. Just so you know... I have a HUGE public bathroom phobia. I literally cry whenever I have to go into one :crying:. But this "Dumping syndrome" is no joke and that phobia didn't help . It was just a really bad experience. One that I can promise will never happen again (intentionally anyway). This might be TMI but thats ok... maybe someone will learn from my stupid mistake. Ps. I still have the shoulder pain.... which sucks! But no gas... woo-hoo!!! (oh, and gas-x did nothing 4 me)

So I was banded in March had a fantastic start. Dropped 20 PDS in the first two weeks. Got my first fill May 1st and did pretty good (nobody mentioned it would hurt to get your first fill lol) well now the last 3 days I've been getting sick no vomit but salty saliva and sometimes the gut reaction but no vomit. I've chewed and chewed and I've drank and drank. Fluids perfectly fine...foods not so hot. Nothing taste good I would rather just drink fluids all day. Tmi moment approaching (I'm just starting my woman time) is KT possible my band is just oober tight from the fill and my woman time (noticed it got tight last month too) I'm not sure if I'm battling an illness or if its band related. Oh and in case your wondering I'm not prego lol. See above tmi lol

Curious to hear people's stories of gastric bypass....
MichelleTN replied to RebeccaAR's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Had surgery on Tuesday. I was nervous but everything went fine. The worst part was the gas. I was never so happy to fart in my life. TMI I know. :-) that was the only time I hit the pain pump was with the gas pains. Finally the next day I walked the halls about 5 times vs the two after surgery and got that stuff to moving out. Went home around 5 that day & slept all night. Felt 100% better when I woke up. Today was my full liquid day which includes cream soup, tasted so good. However I'm so scared to overeat right now. All in all I've had a good recovery so far. -
Oh my goodness my breath has been horrible too and when I asked the nutritionist she looked at me like I was crazy. Update: I did poop it was more like (TMI) mud. so hopefully there just isn't much in there to come out.

soul love some advice or info from anyone who has done this. I am considering getting a reduction to hopefully a 36/38 DD so i can workout better (maybe even run!) and fit into clothing better. However, I am worried about losing sensation. This is probably TMI but my girls are definitly one of THE zones for me and I am afraid I would lose sensation and not be able to fully enjoy hanky panky again.

My fingers have slimmed down some - not much. I really notice my face has slimmed down a lot! Which is a good thing. No change in the upper arms - aka bat wings. Boobies have shrunk a lil = uber bad thing LOL Tummy - definitely looks flatter but has developed an ugly FUPA roll.. TMI I know.. Butt - all but gone LMAO Thighs - still thick as all get out!! Overall - I don't where the 30 lbs was lost at LOL Just staying positive! That's all we can do! Hugs!!

It's when some food goes straight through you. I have this problem with milk post-op. I can drink regular milk and be in the bathroom (TMI) pooping it out in minutes. It's NOT common for sleevers, but it is common for gastric bypass and RNY patients. Mine is because I'm now lactose intolerant.

For those of you 3 months or more out...
Can'tweight replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 3/16/11...I am 3 mo's out and feel fantastic!! I started at 251 before pre-op diet and have lost 45 lbs to date. Here are just a few things I have noticed: No more aching joints Not as out of breath when walking up and down 3 flights to my apartment Not as hot No diabetes meds No liver pains Not hungry all the time Love going to the stores to try on clothes and find I need a SMALLER size Not tired all the time as before Feel younger More active with my family TMI...Being able to clean my ENTIRE body with out struggling TMI...Being able to wipe with ease after going potty But the BEST THING is....Making love with my husband!! Who has also lost weight as he has been drinking my Protein shakes- 3 times a day and a sensible meal for dinner. He's lost 20 lbs. Yea Pookie!! After gaining so much weight through our 18 year marriage...sex was quite difficult and not worth having. Now?? Well...let's just say everything is A-O-K in the boudoir!! -
I started out at 235 before surgery and was up to 237.5 afterwards. This morning I am finally down to 230.5 so I can officially say -4.5 lbs. since surgery. Overall I'm doing very well since surgery. When I get in and out of bed there is a particular area that bothers me (stiches) and I believe it is right above the port area. I bruise very easily too so the upper part of my stomach is black and blue. This next information may be TMI for some so don't read. I finally had a bm this morning and feel so much better. Today is the first day of school for me. I am taking Microbiology and a psychology class, the last two classes I need before applying to the nursing program this next January. I can't believe my goal is so close now.

Any 7/14's- post op?
cupples0405 replied to reducer623's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi guys, I'm 7/15. I'm doing well overall but I'm just so darn sore and it seems like I'm sore everywhere. From my head to my legs. My incisions are itchy but sore. Im able to get close to the 60g Protein daily (52ish) and close to the 64oz. I'm just so darn tired of sipping. I'm still having a hard time establishing a good pattern of bowel movements (sorry, TMI). I also still can't sleep on either side comfortably and that frustrating. No issues of nausea but did take some of my acid reflux medicine for the first time today. Thinking about adding some GasX to help in that department. Adding one more medication makes me cringe but if takes some of this discomfort away I'm game at this point. food has really been the last thing on my mind but I am looking forward to the puréed stage. I think once I start chewing something I'll start to feel normal again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
