  1. Hey!

I'm not really nervous, anxious is more like it. I am so ready to shed these pounds, I work out like crazy, which does kind of help because I'm building muscle, but I can't wait to have the surgery mostly because I hear the young people slim down pretty fast unlike the older patients. My mom had the surgery done in Nov 2008, she has lost a lot of weight which is why she said if I wanted to get the surgery, I could. I think it will give me that little "push" I need to get back into a healthy lifestyle.

I have to send you another msg bc I am out of characters.

  2. Well I had to do a 6 month dietican supervised diet first for insurance purposes, I lost 25 pounds in those six months. The rest of the weight has come off since my 2 week pre op diet. For the most part 50 pounds of it has come off since June 22nd.

I cant wait for the fill. I try to eat mostly protein to keep me full longer, however it gets kind of boring. I really cant wait to have bread. I have 2 weeks for that.

I am not doing to bad with the weight loss, I am about 11-12 down since 1st week post op. I totally understand the impatient part. Its like I know what to do I just dont always do it.

  3. Hi jojocath,

Saw your entry> hope your surgery went well, I am in the midst of seeking info. I am 57 and it was good to see someone close to my age on this journey! Please keep my up to date , I want to hear the good with the setbacks you may experience, I am ambivilant about this tool for weight loss, but I have to something to get this weight off. Thanks and God Bless!

  4. i was banded going on 2 wks now i have been thorugh the ups and downs thinking i have done sumthing crazy cause it was so hard doing the diets and all but does seems to be a little better now. can u give me any advice on whats good to do to boost my weight lost i mean i really want this to work right now it seems to be at a stand still, the only thing on my list to eat right now is grits, and yogurt, and like protein drinks but im hungry on that. i will be happy next i can start on soft meats.

  5. I just had my 1 day orientation at the hospital yesterday. There was so much to think about, and to be honest one minute I am thrilled, and the next I am filled with doubts.

Can't figure out why I am holding on to all the failures, all the eating to cope, and all the loss of "normal" life because I am afraid I don't know how to live without food.

I remember after my heart attack I woke up ready to change my life, and I stuck with that diet and 30 lbs weight loss, and I was so committed. So why am I only lukewarm right now? Afraid of another failure? Of disappointment?

I have a big decision, do I embrace a new lease on life or do I stay afraid? Tonight I would say I still don't know.

  6. Hi there! How are you doing???? I see you got a bit of a fill? How was it? Do you notice any difference? I'm due to have mine tomorrow..and he said it would be about 5cc! I'm struggling with my weight..i sure hope this helps!

  7. Yes I saw your new pics you posted. I love the fro with the red hair. How did u get the fro? Did u roll it with rods and then combed it out?

As far as your job.....don't let them get to u. Its your decision if you want to keep it a sercet or reveal it. (your lapband) If I was you I'll let them know in a professial way (since you are at work) that you know they are talking about you and you don't appreciate it. If they have something to say they can come to you.

People was telling me that I lost my weight fast....which is not true, because I lost 50 lbs in 10 months and my doctor is trying to encourge me to lose a little faster. People just like to find something to talk about. So girlllllllllllllllllllllllll lose that weight and give them more to talk about!!!!

  8. Well, as far as pain goes it went great! However, I honestly do not think that I have enough restriction. I still am eating too much. I need more restriction. I think that I might call in to see if I can get another fill or something. I get hungry in 2 to 3 hours after I eat. I will see how things go from this point. But, overall things are good. Are you lossing even more weight now that you have had your first fill?

  9. Hi! You are totally on track! I lost 19 pounds during my pre-op diet (it was two weeks and five days of only slim fast shakes and two cups of veggies). I've lost about 8 pounds since surgery, waiting until tomorrow to update my ticker. I started the mushy phase yesterday....have you started that yet? I'm expecting my weight loss to slow down with that.

  10. Congrats on your amazing weight loss. Keep up the good work.

  11. Hey Corliss! thanks for the message! I am doing okay. My grandfather is very ill and I haven't been online much. Just trying to spend time with him. I'm going for my second fill on Aug 25th which is good because I really don't have much restriction at all. I'm almost at the 50 pounds marker! That will be 1/3 of my excess weight lost! Can't wait for the next 50. How are you doing??

  12. Hey,

I am new to this site and wanted to see how someone else is doing after having surgery in 2007.

I haven't lost much so a little discouraged.

I had an overfill in Jan. 2009 so they took all of saline out.. So I had to start all over!! I am about the same height and weight you had posted and wanted to see how you have done..

    Please reply..

    Thank you

  14. -Start excercising right away...it helps with weight loss, gas pain, etc.

-Really chew slowly...if you get stuck on solids, it will hurt :)

-You are not alone....I haven't shared my surgery with many people and often felt very alone....go on here...it will help!

-Your hair might fall out at alarming rates. My doctor told me that this only happens to bypass patients....so not true! Make sure to get your protein, buy biotin, and remember that it will stop, and will grow back. Mine started 4 months out, and still falls out (less though), but it is growing back in everywhere too!

As far as workouts, I usually do 30 minutes on the elliptical or 30 minutes jogging and power walking. I also do abs and arm weights.

Keep up the good work, and please feel free to write back if you have any more questions...we are all here for each other :)

  15. looking good!! Dr. Swain did mine 1/15...need to get some before and after pics on here. Down 50 so far...got out of the gate fast but have slowed down on my weight loss dramatically. Teresa

  19. Vanessa,

Hey there! This whole process has certainly not been easy for me (to say the least), but I am really happy with the progress that I have made. I have been overweight majority of my life. When I was younger, I played sports and so I wasn't really "obese", just heavier. In college, that all changed. I had a much more sedentary lifestyle, ate more, drank more...the usual.

I still have an addiction to ice cream and other sweet stuff, and do splurge on those periodically. I was banded almost a year ago, and in that year I bought my first house, moved offices (I am the office manager so I coordinated everything), got married and gained two step children, went on a honeymoon and turned 30! There have been a lot of moments or stress and a lot of occasions where I have induldged in things that I shouldn't have. (continued in next message)

  20. Congratulations on your weight loss. Care to share exercise and diet?
