How about some NSVs!?!?
iamsoworthit replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is my weigh in day... I stayed the same this week. The NSV part for me was I didn't freak out, or think I'm a failure or that my weight loss is over. I simply looked at the scale and told myself I will see a drop next week. Now that was a victory for me. -
I had a 12 lb loss last month! I had a Dr appointment with my PCP due to my continued back problems this week. I wont bore you will All of those. Anyway- my blood pressure was 120/70. Unbelievable considering it was 160/111 the last time I went to my PCP. I've lost about 89 lbs. I watch very closely what I'm eating and the quantities. Having the LapBand has been the best decision of my life. OHHH. Plus. My mom bought me an outfit 4 sizes smaller than what I was wearing prior to surgery( as incentive) and guess what? IT FIT ME! My Mom and my two daughters where jumping up and down and screaming with me!! Best Christmas present ever! Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of the New Year!

How about some NSVs!?!?

Naw. Finding humor in your weight loss is always an NSV :-). -
....rarely mentioned in such circumstances, is the results of 'mostly empty colon' due to longish liquid intake, then the addition of several days or a week of even mushies. Our colon contents, depending on lots of variables, can easily account for several pounds seeming weight gain. Measure inches and changing body conformation. NSV will help focus on your real results. Congratulations and cheers on your journey.

NSV shout outs
BigGirlPanties replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
found this post and LOVING it... about halfway thru all the NSVs.... so I'd like to add of few of mine: 1. was able to cross my legs was HUGE when I realized I could do that...but I was able to cross them in a movie theater and had room!!! 2. the pants falling down issue happened with me too, my new friend-a belt!!! I never used one before. 3. smaller EVERYTHING... donated to GW and cleared out closet...the other day I was wearing one of my newer blouses and my friend told me to get rid of it, it's too big and made me look frumpy! I'm sure there have been many more, but just being able to walk up a flight of stairs without losing my breath speaks to the healthier side of me...LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!! -
I see that you have lost 23 lbs, tho' You might gain a little after coming off liquid diet and then starting the gym. You are building muscles if you are working out that much. don't get discouraged! Back away from teh scale for awhile. You might start seeing NSV'S( those are non-scale victories). Are your clothes fitting better? are you able to bend over to tie your shoes? etc. Karen..aka..kll724

Oh dear, oh dear....don't sweat it. You are at the start of your journey and you'll experience lots of ups and downs...literally and figuratively over time. I'm going to give you a wonderful piece of advice. Stop weighing yourself...or do it much less often. If you are following the instructions your doctor gave you, the weight will come off...I promise. In fact, even if the weight doesn't come off the way you expect, the inches will. Measure yourself now and again a month from now ...and you'll see what I mean. Also...look for those NSVs. They will tell you better than any number on a scale, how well you are doing. Good luck!

LOL! Great NSV! -
Oh, I've done well so far this week - a good fast day Mon, a clean low cal day today and I intend to fast again tomo. Insanity in work Thursday, so I won't be able to walk again Fri...lol. I am still at the top end of my bounce range and I really don't like it - hoping that it will come off soon as I am 'due' a 'whoosh' on the scale. If I remember right, the last time I hit the top of my bounce I stayed a while and then dropped to a new set point. I have been at this set point for 4-5 weeks, so fingers crossed my pattern will continue and I will see some positive movement soon. On another note, I have an amazing NSV - I tried my old signate ring on today, my mam and dad bought me it for my 21st birthday. I haven't been able to wear it for about 18 years as it was too small. It fits perfectly again! I am wearing it as I type, But the strange thing is that, I am at least 14lbs heavier now than I was when I was 21... hmmm, I really do think that my body composition has changed a lot in the last 22 years!!!

For all newbies, NSV= non-scale victory! We reward ourselves with them when we get a compliment, can bend over to tie our shoes, cross out knees or anything that we weren't able to do previous to losing weight! So, it is a non-scale victory!!! Congrats to all newbies and everyone else who gets one! Karen..aka..kll724

Update from my 1 month doctor appointment.
BabySheldon posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Went to the doctor today ......great appointment .....Dr. is thrilled with my weight loss 32 pounds in 30 days and was told that the reason I was having so much difficulty with pureed food is because I was not taking my priolosec. Dr. says that I am to proceed on to solid food .....sometimes we called this the mushy phase but he said I cannot use my blender .....I want so much to use it but he said I have to get over the fear of eating real table food..today for dinner I had went to Taco Bell to feed my kids and I got a side order of pinto Beans with cheese it was amazing..... just a few bites and i took my tome and it went down just fine ....I'm so much happier :-) Other NSV's I was definitely told to get the on uninjury Protein just like you folks said I was told that the changes in taste that I had experienced was coming from being in ketosis I was told that my sleeve is functioning 100% correctly I was told that my calorie levels were acceptable I was told that working out with an excellent thing for me to do and to continue to do as that would support lean muscle mass I was told that for pain I could take tromadol and I no longer needed to be concerned with ibuprofen if I did not want to The last great win was that my gallbladder medicine is going to be converted from a capsule to a liquid and Felipe is thrilled! I feel much, much, much better!!!!! Thanks for all of the great support everyone! Shelby -
Over 300 pounds, when did you notice a difference?
Gina1010 replied to Kiap82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What does the acronymn NSV stand for? Obviously a good thing lol. Like when I couldnt wait to get into my leather coat that was 5 sizes smaller only to find it was too big in a few weeks. I started out much heavier at but noticed the weight when I dropped the first 60 pounds. -

My high weight was 333lbs and surgery day I was 299. My first NSV was when I went it was time to go back to work a month later, I put my scrub pants on and they fell down! Nice! I'm having another NSV right now at the pedicurist. I usually had to squeeze into this pedicure chair and the side of the darn thing wouldn't even close (how embarrassing), but I'm happy to say I'm sitting pretty and comfy with both sides closed with space to spare! Yay! I'm finally excited to travel and can't wait to take my first flight WITHOUT an extender -
The night is quiet when a lone fart breaks the silence, a few minutes later you hear another one. I turn to my hubby and tell him it's almost as if they are answering each other.. He is my NSV!!!

I've gone from wearing a size 3 in tights/stockings to a size 1. Not since infanthood have I worn anything with a 1 that wasn't followed by a couple of X's. LOL

Woohoo - It finally happened

Nice NSV!!!! I'm glad you got the "you don't need to lose anymore weight" comment. I know it had to be one heck of a feeling!!! -

How are my Dec 19th sleevers doing?
Mich129 replied to ualaw08's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I took a leap of faith today. I purged my closet of the largest sized clothing (26). I decided to do it considering the weight I've lost already and that since returning to work I experimented with wearing some blouses that had gotten too tight. It was definitely my first NSV.
