Food Before and After Photos

I have chia in my freezer. How do you think taking it dry will affect my stomach at 8 weeks post since it expands to 10xs its weight in liquid? I used to take 2T daily. Dry. I'm thinking I should soak it first. -
I have found that adding higher fat foods are ok once in awhile, it’s up to you and your plan. If you find yourself not loosing weight when you want to or should, maybe avoid those foods for awhile. My guilty pleasure is desserts like pie. If I actually said, “Never!” I would probably go buy one and eat the whole thing. Now I just sample my favorite in public and share it with others. My problem with liverworst is that it’s made with milk products as a binder ingredient and causes flames to shoot out both my ends. My father thought it was the elixir of gods because cans of liverworst were given out with rations during his childhood in post-war Europe. To each their own.

First of all, congrats on your success so far! That's GREAT! However, Apple Cider Vinegar will have no impact to how or where you lose weight, the elasticity of your skin, or make any other material impacts to your loss or body. It might be helpful for digestion or other things, but it truly will not add anything to your weight loss efforts. As for weight lifting, most surgeons have a recommended waiting period before working out again, so you need to check with your doctors. Weight lifting WILL help in myriad ways and it CAN help reduce saggy skin by filling it with muscle, but it won't change the skin itself. The reality is, lose skin is a byproduct of major weight loss. It will happen. The extent of it will vary widely from person to person for a million different reasons. There is very little with any scientific support to be done about it, and most of the recmondtations you might get will be anecdotal at best. Hit your protein, drink your water, lift weights, and be patient. Whatever lose skin you may have will NEVER be more detrimental than not having changed your life.

I have had a Gastric Bypass since 2001, and am very still down in weight, and I eat liverwurst all the time. It is one of the easiest foods for my pouch and digestion. It is very nutritious. Don't demonize one food or the other. Enjoy things in moderation.

SoCal Kaiser Options Friends!
QueenRitz2 replied to Helen of LaCroix's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me awhile to reach by weight goal to get a surgeon referral after my options classes which I finished in February but finally I have my appointment tomorrow and hoping to get a surgery date! "fingers crossed" -
I started binge watching Mike and Molly TV show when I was recovering from surgery. For a few different reasons: One, never watched it before and found it made me laugh. It deals a lot with food and struggling to lose weight as well. Two, my doctor calls me funny lady. Says I make her laugh and remind her of Melissa McCarthy. I'll take that. Loved her on SNL and the movie Bridesmaids too. Three, Billy Gardell. Have you seen this guy's transformation after Gastric Bypass??? Amazing. He's quite open about how he lost the weight publicly. Said he wants to live to see his son get married. His weight loss makes me smile. People talking negatively about his choices, not so much. People are saying he's no longer funny after the weight loss. I blame it on his new sitcom though. Do you think people are less funny after losing weight? Check this out...

Haha, nothing wrong with that. Always good to hear the compliments. Until I get closer to a normal weight, tighter clothes still make me feel big. I know it's a head thing because I know smaller sizes can be more slimming. But it is nice to hear that initial WOAH response when people see me. Makes me smile

I have been vacillating for almost two years about having weight loss surgery. I’m still SO anxious! My surgery is next Wednesday, the 14th. I am on my 1000 calorie/mostly protein shake pre-surgery diet. I am already missing food. I am looking forward to not having hunger pains and pangs. I wish everyone a successful surgery, uneventful recovery and continuing success!

New to posting (my first post actually) but i’ve been following everyones journeys and i’m so excited to finally start my own! My original date was June 26 then changed to July 3rd 🎆 @LibrarianErin congrats to you on the start of your journey thanks for starting this post 😊 we’re all in this together I’ve been very stressed through all the hiccups i’ve had during the process especially the insurance process since mine was delayed for no reason but now that i have my approval and surgery date i feel a lot more calm and ready ! My process started in March when i met with my surgeon and dietician and it flew by. had my pre op appointment a week ago and my pre testing is monday 😱 I’m so excited to gain energy and confidence in myself. i’ve tried every diet possible and it’s always been a struggle in my life and only got worse as i got older with my PCOS. i am keeping who i tell in a small bubble. my parents, siblings and best friend (who got the surgery about 18 months ago ) for now. i want to keep away as much negative energy as i can with everyone being a critic i just don’t want to hear it lol. once it’s done im sure i’ll change my mind. what’s everyone doing about their job? what did you tell them, what did you say? how much time off do you get?

I might have done that on purpose last week lol. I wore a shirt that is 2 sizes bigger than my current shirts to the office. I got a ton of comments from my colleagues which was nice haha. I think I missed people's commenting on my weight loss which has stopped for a while now.

I agree check with your medical team to be sure. It could be from stress you held during surgery (my back spasmed on day 2 - awful). Could also be from the weight you’ve lost so far affecting your centre of gravity & changing how you hold yourself. You may notice odd aches & pains in your body as you lose weight & your body, muscles, tendons & ligaments relearn how to hold your smaller body.

I realized I continue to wear clothing that is getting too big for me. I think it's because it makes me feel good knowing I've dropped weight. Kinda like people who enjoy their loose skin.... 🤭

Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?
njlimmer replied to LoveSimcha's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi All! So a little over two years, and it's mostly all good news! I've run like 6 5k races now, but I hurt my knew in April and haven't run for 2 months. Started running again this week, but it's amazing how hard it is to get back into that mindset. I'm 10lbs up from my goal weight that I had hit and maintained for a year so that's a little frustrating. I know I need to get back to basics, but that sugar craving is ROUGH! I also find that I'm mindlessly eating so that is part of what I need to nip in the bud before 10 becomes 20 and so on. It's so weird though... before I wouldn't have even noticed gaining 10lbs. Now I can FEEL it. Hope everyone else is doing well! -
I'm not a revision, but an eight year "vet" on here. Most people don't lose weight nearly as fast after a revision as they do after a "virgin" surgery. And also, you do have some control over that. You probably won't be able to eat much for the first few weeks after the surgery because of the swelling and healing, but once you're through that, you do have some control over how many calories you're taking in. You can always bump them up a bit if you think you're starting to lose too much weight

I took chewable vitamins the first couple of months - are those available in Japan? also, you WILL lose muscle. As we lose weight, we lose not only fat, but also bone and muscle. It's OK to lose some of it - we need a lot of "infrastructure" to hold up our excess weight, and once we lose the weight, we don't need as much of that anymore. But the goal is to not lose TOO MUCH muscle. This is one of the reasons we're supposed to eat a lot of protein - to keep us from losing too much muscle.

You are going to struggle to get a definitive answer to your question. There may be something on the internet. It depends on your start weight, your adherence to the post op diet and continued work. May people on here are just pre op or just post op. Its a forum for help so once you are going great people drop away from the forum. We only know how they have got on when they come back to ask a question, usually about going from Sleeve to RNY or how to go back to weight loss again after a gain. Like everyone else, once I get to my weight loss goal, I will try to stabilise my weight loss by upping my calorie intake. Good luck

Vitamin Intake
summerseeker replied to rockystart94's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All this is normal. Your doing great. Water and medication and vitamins are the hard at the beginning. Your stomach is so swollen and sore. My surgeon said my new swollen stomach was the size of the inside of a pen. After a month you will begin to see improvements. I felt as if the only things I did all day were trying to drink. One day it just got easier. Space your vitamins out all day, get liquid ones where possible and gummy multivitamins if you can find one you are happy with. I had to crush some medication and take it with yogurt or honey. Its vile though. If your team allow then try vitamin patches. If you have trouble with acid heartburn ask your team for anti nausea medication/ PPI If you try warm, freezing and cold drinks you may find you tolerate one better than others. I did so much better on hot drinks, it caused less of a spasm. I never went down the protein route, my surgeon believes in dairy produce. So I drank full skimmed milk instead. You can try thinning down your protein drinks with water or milk You are about to have a stall in your weight loss that will make you wish for it back PDQ. Its called the 3 week stall. You will loose muscle. The more you walk and exercise when you can, will slow this. You will end up with a smaller frame so do not need the mass of muscle that hauls you around now . I never exercised, just walked. My muscle loss is just right. I look good in clothes. -
Hi So I’m two weeks post op and currently struggling to get keep my water intake and vitamins intake. Whenever I take a pill I feel severe discomfort like heartburn for 20 mins and need my husbands help to rub my chest off to move it down. This makes it difficult for me. I have restrictions to have only a spoonful of water each time and wait for 3 mins between the next spoon. This makes it tough to get enough water and my skin is becoming flaky. I also find it difficult to swallow anything with protein powder in it . I think I am losing ideal weight 1lb per day but it also includes muscle loss which I would like to avoid. Any advice or tips that I could get on taking multi vitamins and water intake. Thanks in advance.

So frustrating when your dietician & surgeon’s recommendations don’t align. Probably best to go with your surgeon while you are still healing & going through the stages. Once your on solid food, introduce new foods slowly to test how your tummy reacts and rely more on your dietician’s advice. Be warned, sometimes your tummy doesn’t like something one day & then the next week or so it’s fine. Or you ate it a few times without a problem but then your tummy decides nope, not today. For me, soft food were things like mince dishes, slow cooked stews, casseroles, braises, chunky soups, omelettes. Anything that gives you fall apart tender & still moist meat. Plans are different though. For example I could have scrambled eggs & milky instant porridge in purées but no potatoes while losing. Oh, and you will lose weight. You’ll lose it in your time & the amount that is best for you & your body.

Period changes post VSG
Arabesque replied to PRRNThickChick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I thought the same thing - estrogen flush from the weight loss. Check with your gyno to be sure. The increase of estrogen into your system can cause your fertility rate to increase too which is why many surgeons recommend doubling up on your contraceptives. -
Period changes post VSG
catwoman7 replied to PRRNThickChick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
lots of women have weird hormone-related things going on the first few months after surgery - like mood swings and screwed up menstrual cycles. Estrogen is stored in fat cells, so supposedly a lot of it is released during the rapid weight loss period. It'll eventually stabilize. -
Curious how many of you have had the revision. I’m concerned with weight loss as I don’t want to lose too much. I have horrible acid reflux so I am opting the sleeve to RNY this month. I have my date of the 13th a How much on average did everyone lose? Ty in advance

Hey All! I had my VSG ON 3/13/23, so I’m nearly 3 months out. Weight loss is going well, slow and steady with the expected stalls here and there. However, I have had an IUD FOR 3 years with no issues and no periods. Now since surgery I’m having periods again! They are more regular than I ever was before I had the IUD! Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks in advance!

Hi all! Wrong forum for a comeback. But I frequented this topic and ootd were my most active. I’ve been MIA since COVID and it made me gain 40 pounds. 😔. So I’m back for moral support and to get back in the game. I hope all has been doing well. I see a lot of familiar old friends on here. I have a Cozumel and Belize trip coming up and gotta get back into the game. My dinner was some pork Thai sweet chili rice bowl, no pic though. But being realistic.
