I'm 6 wks + a few days post-VSG; 30 pounds down (including a week of stall). Last night for the first time, I went to a restaurant for a sit-down dinner. I usually ordered an appetizer, entree, wine and maybe a dessert. So this was different: 1) holding off on my Water to save room for my food; 2) passing up on ordering any wine/martini; 3) do I just get an appetizer, knowing that that amount is all I'd likely be able to eat?; 4) do I get the entree only? 5) do I tell the waitress why 'no' to this/'no' to that? I ended up only ordering an entree (which, early-bird included a soup; I picked the black bean soup). The Soup came in a rather large bowl containing maybe ~8-10 ounces. I had 3 spoonfuls and stopped. My "crabmeat-stuffed tilapia" with veggies and rice dinner came. The 'stuff' part was perfect: soft, tasty, could've had more. The fish--broiled--went down well and I ate a few pieces of the squash and the zucchini, plus I allowed a few grains of rice, but NOT even a fork full of rice. BUT, bottom line...I brought ~85 % of everything home. (And I DID tell the waitress, but really didn't have to.) Advice: Just order an appetizer, or be prepared to bring everything else home for munching later. Plus, instead of an $50-80 tab, it was $16.00--an "NSV." Any others with advice on this? Thanks.

I lost a letter. For the first time since high school, there is only one solitary letter on my bra size. I was not expecting this, but after struggling to find one to fit well, tried to drop from a double cup to a single and BOOM! It fits. I suspect this means I can now wear shirts with buttons. Wonderful stuff, but kind of like when I lost a shoe size it was completely unexpected and has left me bemused.

How about some NSVs!?!?
bloreorbust replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to jump up and down like a mad woman through the whole Seattle/SanFran game. This NSV brought to you by Swedish and the Seattle Seahawks NFC Champions. -
NSV from Friday, jeans day at work: Got dressed in the AM and my jeans were falling off of me! Too baggy to wear without looking silly. Down from a 20 to a 18

How can you tell you're losing weight?
scarlet333 replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All of the things you've mentioned are ways of telling you lost weight. It is very common to be the last to notice it in yourself. I also found that other people didn't mention it until I has lost about 50 pounds then all of a sudden everyone noticed. Just keep on keeping on and eventually it will become your new normal. I weigh myself weekly and can almost always tell if there is going to be a loss by the way "i feel". Your mind will catch up with your body and in the mean time just enjoy all of the nsvs you have mentioned and more. -
December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

Deez, you'll be back to losing in no time! I'm glad to hear your clothes are looser...that's an awesome NSV -
I just found this thread and have loved reading all of these NSVs! It makes me smile. My newest one was this last week at work. One of my coworkers said "we just keep watching you shrink away" and another one said I was looking "svelte". I never in a million years would have dreamed anyone would refer to me as svelte. Never.

Hello All! It's been forever since I've posted. Still not used to the new format. Some recent NSV: a friend called me petite, I can wear skinny jeans without looking like a total fool, I find myself fitting between obstacles in my 2nd grade classroom that I couldn't have before, I'm out of plus sizes, I fit in some size medium tops, I feel the urge to move more, and I am 100 lbs. down from my highest!! Crazy ride these last 7 months. Congrats to everyone. Love the posted pictures. I get around to that soon.

How can you tell you're losing weight?
Comfy_Blue replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks for sharing how you can tell that you're losing weight. i guess i was looking for some NSV and other cues because people keep asking me ''don't you see you're smaller? don't you feel smaller?'' and so forth. but i honestly don't. it's only when i put on my clothes. that made a lot of sense about my shape being the same. no wonder i look the same(derp!). i really hope my love handles melt away so i'll have a waist again. -
I Want To See Before & After Pics!
Phoenix79 replied to Christina760's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It's been a few months since I posted a pic, so why not! I'm sooo close to Onederland, I can't wait to get there! But NSV'S by the boatload on the journey to getting there, so I can't complain about that a bit! My current in progress pic is from today- date night with my husband "fiddleman". -
NSV!! the yoga pants I bought to wear under my hospital gowns was too tight the day of surgery, so I left them home. Today I put them on and even with the draw string pulled tight they're loose on me and keep trying to fall off. SUCCESS!!

Glad to see you are doing well. Hang on to those NSV's they will keep you going for the long run.

Nice NSV! I can't wait until I can zip up one of my older leather jackets.
-
Wonderful NSV..I too love my leather jackets....Keep up the pace ...Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats! My very first NSV was that my rings and bracelets fit again. Haven't gotten to the falling off my fingers stage yet, though.
-
I finally fit into my leather jacket (it's been about 5 years) and my very favorite pair of Jeans~ both in the same week. I finally feel "pretty" and am enjoying putting on makeup, picking out my clothes and am no longer just throwing something on and running out the door.

So great news and a problem... I've lost about 20 lbs so far and my engagement ring is getting really lose. I have about 50 more to go to get to my goal weight. Other than getting it resized often, what do you do to tighten your rings? When I was little I tied yarn around a few times but that gets a bit nasty when washing hands. I remember some metal thingy to clamp on there but I can't find it on amazon or eBay. Suggestions?

Whole new wardrobe at no charge!
Mich129 replied to mooncat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Total NSV for me today...I debated about trying on some real jeans which have been hanging in my closet for YEARS since I've been able to wear them (as opposed to pull on stretch jeans). I took a chance and lo and behold THEY FIT and NO MUFFIN TOP from them either!!! That means I'm down from a tight waisted 28 to a comfortable 22 and that feels wonderful. -
Any other September 2013 bandsters?
PuraVida37 replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I followed the pre-op diet very strictly and lost about 25-30 lbs before surgery. I was banded with these guys on 9/30. Since then I've lost 40 more lbs. Except for Christmas time, I have been very careful with what I eat because I am terrified of band slippage and being stuck, especially since my ER visit in Dec. I chew very carefully, though sometimes I still find myself eating too fast. My doc recommends 1/4c at meals, but I need 1/2c--I have the same fill as right after surgery and I don't think I'm going to add too much more any time soon, maybe .5 at my next appt. For me, it seems like the more I eat the more I lose. I exercise 2-3 times a week, but not faithfully. When I do, however, I kick butt and workout hard, no faking for me. Ain't nobody got time for that!! lol I use the app Lose It! to track my food, and I'm trying for 80-100g of Protein and 1000 to 1200 calories, because like I said, the more I eat the better the scale is, and I can worry less about not getting enough protein. As a recovering food addict, I feel safe eating the same thing over and over. No room for cheating or decisions. So lately I've been having 1-2 eggs or a protein shake for Breakfast, 2 slices turkey/2 slices cheese for lunch, yogurt mid-afternoon, and 2-4 oz some kind of meat with 2-4 tbs veg for dinner. Sometimes a snack in there too, like a Quest bar. So today I am forced to have a NSV treat--my bras are way too big and aren't holding up well (pun intended) so I'm off to Soma to get some new ones! I hope I fit--I'm just in between an XL and a 1X. Wish me luck! (And no, I won't be posting photos later. LOL!!!) -
NSVs can pop up for the oddest things...
chasingadream replied to gowalking's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's a good NSV...I had a funny one last night at dinner....I dropped a piece of chicken and it landed between my legs on my chair....yes, ON MY CHAIR....in the past (70 lbs ago to be precise) there was no chair to see under me-- the chicken would have just fallen on my lap. LOL...I was so excited I called my hubby over to see the chicken on the chair....LOL....stupid I know but funny and it felt good! -

Take any NSV! I do! Congrats! -
I've had back pain for quite some time now, mostly due to the hip and knee problems. Even with the new hips, the back still gives me problems unfortunately. So I saw my doctor earlier today and he feels that I could use another epidural for pain management. I've been hesitant to get more shots because I have concerns about the steroids and the possible risks to other parts of my body. When I mentioned this to the doctor, he said that he'd give me a lower dosage. Then I questioned him about making sure it was even worth getting an injection if he lowered the dosage and he laughed and said that I would do fine with a smaller dose because I'm a smaller person. He looked me right in the eye and said that half the dose would be all I needed at this point. My first thought was well...this is an unusual NSV.....
