16 - my new favorite numbers

Great NSV! The sizing going down is an amazing feeling. I know just how you feel! Congrats!
  2. Had a great NSV this weekend that I just had to share with a group that would understand. Spent the weekend in Green Bay for a football camp with my son. Temps were in the upper 70's/low 80's, sun shining, and a good amount of walking. Before my surgery I would have been sweating like a pig just getting out of the car. The walking would have killed me. This weekend I was able to keep up with my sons team when they were on the move and didn't sweat once, even sitting on the metal bleachers. Such a great feeling. Thanks for letting me share. Jen

How can you tell you lost weight?

Here is a NSV 7 days post op- this am in my closet for the heck of it I grabbed a pair of size 20 Capri jeans I couldn't get over my hips let alone ZIP 4 weeks ago. Guess what? I'm wearing them right now!!! And they look good on me!!!! Yahoo!

    NSV bikeride to Lake Tahoe!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! What a wonderful NSV and in such a beautiful place! I love Tahoe.
  8. Actually when I had stalls I would get frustrated and fearful that my weight loss was done but it wasn't. During the time of the stalls is when my body was rapidly decreasing in inches..... I would put on a pair of nice slacks in the morning and by the afternoon, they would be too big. That was a great NSV. You will lose your weight and have more stalls. Instead of looking at the stall as a bad thing, why not look at it as a good thing. Like the decrease in inches. If you haven't already taken measurements, this is a good time to take the measurements to see the changes in body size. CONGRATS...

    My first NSV (sort of)

Congratulations! That is a good NSV! Just remember to throw out the wrapper from the string cheese when you are done!
  10. I went out with some friends for Girls Night out on Friday. I knew I was going to have fun and get some much needed ME time. Well, the night started off great when I tried on a pair of size 16 jeans, buttoned, zipped, and they fit!!! In January I was wearing size 26. So while driving to town, I was thinking that it was a great night already and not thinking it could get any better. Well, while waiting on the rest of the girls to show up, a couple of us stood outside talking when one of the girls walked up and said "Susan, I didn't recognize you." It was a great feeling. Can't wait til the next GNO in October. I know some on here have had friends who have not been supportive, but I have been so blessed.

    Wow Moments

Awesome!!! I've gotta tell ya, with the whole weight loss journey - it's the NSV's that keep me moving along more than checking the scale. Keep up the excellent work!! Keep sharing your successes with us too! It keeps me even more motivated!
  12. I been stalling out over the past 2 months. I have lost 4lbs, literally over Jan and Feb. So, I figure that if I am not loosing (large) amounts of weight then I must be loosing inches. I am working out regularly - ie running, weight lifting etc -- I try to keep my eating in control. I focus more on portion control and getting in ample amounts of Protein -- compared to calorie counting. But, last week (Friday) I wore jeans to work. I thought they were a little "big" on me -- so I went to Walmart (yes, I buy my jeans there because they are CHEAP, and the most COMFORTABLE pair of jeans I have found around the city. <side note> If you check the label and it says that they are made in Egypt; it's like having a 2nd layer of skin on. That's how "light" the jeans are..... Anyway, to my size -- I bought a size 10 -- didn't try them on (because I walked in there after my morning workout)-- took them home and tried them on -- AND THEY FIT!!! Talk about a great NSV while moving into the summer. Hopefully by end of summer I will be a 4-6!!! Yeahhh me. Also, I am now down to 178lbs. I can't tell you -- when I have EVER weight 178 in my life. I am loving my sleeve....thank you Lord Jesus for making all of this possible for me!
  13. Woot! So my four kids and I had a blast running a 5K today!!

    My 1St 5K

Congratulations!!! How inspiring! It's been a desire of mine to do a 5k. I started the Couch to 5k plan last year. Between week 2 and 3, I injured my knee and could barely walk. I've been getting injections into the knee and limping a bit since. My knees obviously decided I was too fat to run My doctor told me no more than 1 mile a day because of the knee issues. If I couldn't even walk for excercise anymore I felt like I was just going to get fatter and fatter until I died. That is when I decided that it was finally time to go for the surgery. The thought of surgery was scary, but death is a bit more scary! My surgery is next week and I can't wait to drop some weight so that my knee isn't quite so angry with me when I walk. I've rocked my preop diet so far, so I KNOW that I can do this. I've been busy picking out the 5k's I want to do first. One is in October and the other is in December. The finisher 'bling' is such a turn on!! Thanks for sharing your NSV!

Lifestyle change for Newbies - HELP!

To help answer this question i will share one of my nsv(non-sclae victories). Before banding my attitude was i would rather work out than have to give up my food but the other day as i was trying to motivate myself to go work out i thought "I'd rather just not eat and do liquids today." I did end up going to work out but to me that was a pretty big victory in changing my way of thinking.

In need of some positive reinforcement

So you indulged.....we ALL do! It's only human! Now, throw them out & continue on! The biggest thing is you realized that you were headed in the wrong direction...unlike previous times!! I say that's a NSV!
  18. Alright this used to be called "My small and pathetic NSVs!" but they told me off and said it wasn't small and pathetic... I did try to revise the thread name but it won't let me :scared: So I have two NSV's which gave me a bit of a smile today. Here they are in all their glory.... 1. I am wearing my old workout shirt today. This shirt once was "toit loik a toiger" (tight). It is now looking like a comical dress that comes halfway down my thighs. 2. I just got back from the grocery store. Normally after hauling the cases of Water and all the groceries, plus walking around the store, my heart is beating like a snare drum from a thrash metal band. Today after checking my pulse... it wasn't even off of resting (thanks dreadmill). Okay, thats my teeny little flag waving for the day. Feel free to share yours

    Odd Non Scale goals

I have a ton of off the wall NSV's. LOL -I want to be able to walk on my boyfriends back when he ask me to. He is an electrician so he comes home wanting me to walk on his back all the time but I refuse to do so because I am afraid I will break him. LMAO, SO, I want to get to a point where I am not afraid to do it. -I want my boyfriend to be able to pick me up again. I mean...He can...but I won't let him. -I want my legs to fit better in my mud boots so when we go mudding on our RZR I can wear them without them cutting off my circulation. -I want to look hot in my work uniform. Not for any guys....jut for myself. I want to walk around confident like I use to be. Just little odd things like that. I am sure I have much more because I randomly think of them through out the day. 40 more days until my surgery! Patience is not a virtue I was given apparently. LOL
  20. I'm sort of new to this site (banded 02/27/06) and am having a hard time deciphering all the acronyms and abbreviations used here. Can anyone point me to a list of definitions or help me figure them out? For example: NSV PB DH ILs DD There are others I'm sure, but these are the ones I see most often. Thanks so much!

    OMG!!! me = 18/20 top

What an exciting and amazing NSV!!! I love the pic!
  22. I totally relate @cindyw41. I started doing body pump class this week after a few years off. I can get on and off the bench easily for the chest and triceps tracks now. My NSV, I did 84 push-ups in one of the body pump classes this week. It is just nice to actually be able to do body weight exercises again.

    Goofy little NSV

Awesome NSV! I haven't worn a belt in so long . . . that's one of my mini-goals . . . to be thin enough to be comfy in a TUCKED-IN shirt with a belt!! No more mumu shirts for me!
  24. My NSV.. My husband goes with me to the gym. He does a lot of free weight exercises laying down on a weight bench. The first time I went months ago I had to roll off the side of the bench. After that embarrassing episode he has helped me get up. Today I was able sit up on my own!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
