    June Post Ops!

Hello All! It's been forever since I've posted. Still not used to the new format. Some recent NSV: a friend called me petite, I can wear skinny jeans without looking like a total fool, I find myself fitting between obstacles in my 2nd grade classroom that I couldn't have before, I'm out of plus sizes, I fit in some size medium tops, I feel the urge to move more, and I am 100 lbs. down from my highest!! Crazy ride these last 7 months. Congrats to everyone. Love the posted pictures. I get around to that soon.
  2. thanks for sharing how you can tell that you're losing weight. i guess i was looking for some NSV and other cues because people keep asking me ''don't you see you're smaller? don't you feel smaller?'' and so forth. but i honestly don't. it's only when i put on my clothes. that made a lot of sense about my shape being the same. no wonder i look the same(derp!). i really hope my love handles melt away so i'll have a waist again.

I Want To See Before & After Pics!

It's been a few months since I posted a pic, so why not! I'm sooo close to Onederland, I can't wait to get there! But NSV'S by the boatload on the journey to getting there, so I can't complain about that a bit! My current in progress pic is from today- date night with my husband "fiddleman".
  4. NSV!! the yoga pants I bought to wear under my hospital gowns was too tight the day of surgery, so I left them home. Today I put them on and even with the draw string pulled tight they're loose on me and keep trying to fall off. SUCCESS!!

    Rings - NSV

Congrats! My very first NSV was that my rings and bracelets fit again. Haven't gotten to the falling off my fingers stage yet, though.
  9. I finally fit into my leather jacket (it's been about 5 years) and my very favorite pair of Jeans~ both in the same week. I finally feel "pretty" and am enjoying putting on makeup, picking out my clothes and am no longer just throwing something on and running out the door.

    Rings - NSV

So great news and a problem... I've lost about 20 lbs so far and my engagement ring is getting really lose. I have about 50 more to go to get to my goal weight. Other than getting it resized often, what do you do to tighten your rings? When I was little I tied yarn around a few times but that gets a bit nasty when washing hands. I remember some metal thingy to clamp on there but I can't find it on amazon or eBay. Suggestions?
  11. Total NSV for me today...I debated about trying on some real jeans which have been hanging in my closet for YEARS since I've been able to wear them (as opposed to pull on stretch jeans). I took a chance and lo and behold THEY FIT and NO MUFFIN TOP from them either!!! That means I'm down from a tight waisted 28 to a comfortable 22 and that feels wonderful.

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

I followed the pre-op diet very strictly and lost about 25-30 lbs before surgery. I was banded with these guys on 9/30. Since then I've lost 40 more lbs. Except for Christmas time, I have been very careful with what I eat because I am terrified of band slippage and being stuck, especially since my ER visit in Dec. I chew very carefully, though sometimes I still find myself eating too fast. My doc recommends 1/4c at meals, but I need 1/2c--I have the same fill as right after surgery and I don't think I'm going to add too much more any time soon, maybe .5 at my next appt. For me, it seems like the more I eat the more I lose. I exercise 2-3 times a week, but not faithfully. When I do, however, I kick butt and workout hard, no faking for me. Ain't nobody got time for that!! lol I use the app Lose It! to track my food, and I'm trying for 80-100g of Protein and 1000 to 1200 calories, because like I said, the more I eat the better the scale is, and I can worry less about not getting enough protein. As a recovering food addict, I feel safe eating the same thing over and over. No room for cheating or decisions. So lately I've been having 1-2 eggs or a protein shake for Breakfast, 2 slices turkey/2 slices cheese for lunch, yogurt mid-afternoon, and 2-4 oz some kind of meat with 2-4 tbs veg for dinner. Sometimes a snack in there too, like a Quest bar. So today I am forced to have a NSV treat--my bras are way too big and aren't holding up well (pun intended) so I'm off to Soma to get some new ones! I hope I fit--I'm just in between an XL and a 1X. Wish me luck! (And no, I won't be posting photos later. LOL!!!)

NSVs can pop up for the oddest things...

That's a good NSV...I had a funny one last night at dinner....I dropped a piece of chicken and it landed between my legs on my chair....yes, ON MY CHAIR....in the past (70 lbs ago to be precise) there was no chair to see under me-- the chicken would have just fallen on my lap. LOL...I was so excited I called my hubby over to see the chicken on the chair....LOL....stupid I know but funny and it felt good!

It's sort of a "Petite" NSV?
  15. Take any NSV! I do! Congrats!
  16. I've had back pain for quite some time now, mostly due to the hip and knee problems. Even with the new hips, the back still gives me problems unfortunately. So I saw my doctor earlier today and he feels that I could use another epidural for pain management. I've been hesitant to get more shots because I have concerns about the steroids and the possible risks to other parts of my body. When I mentioned this to the doctor, he said that he'd give me a lower dosage. Then I questioned him about making sure it was even worth getting an injection if he lowered the dosage and he laughed and said that I would do fine with a smaller dose because I'm a smaller person. He looked me right in the eye and said that half the dose would be all I needed at this point. My first thought was well...this is an unusual NSV.....

    "Personal" NSV! TMI!

So I am literally giggling to myself while typing this up, but I couldn't help it. I had to share this. So I've always like to be clean shaven "down there", but it was always a struggle to reach cause of my big tummy and ended up being a LONG process. Last night I decided to give it a whirl and about 3 minutes later I was done! Woo hoo!!! I was so excited that it was so easy! Hahaha no more hairy scary monster!!!

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I've been having so much fun picking up a new pieces a of clothing every time I'm in Walmart, Target, etc. I can't get over the low prices compared to when I had to shop Plus Size Specialty stores. I was in Walmart last week and picked up two tops for less than $12 each. ((NSV #1). I bought them 1 size smaller than I am now so i could wear them this spring. I showed them to my sister who said "Oh those will fit you now." I told her she was wrong but tried them on and they fit perfectly. Now I have to exchange them for yet another smaller size. (NSV # 2)

How was your 5:2 day today?

Sheila I am so joining you on the eating clean to rid yourself of the carb monster. I am also doing the same thing. Sarah i love how your little ones NSV. Such a reward, especially from a little one.... GT this is such a hard decision to make in whether to stay and save money or come back. If you decide to stay, make sure that you have an exit plan just in case something happens and you need to leave. I love that you have a support person there....Will he be there for the next 6 months also? Sheryl after seeing and reading about the corset, I had to go and buy one myself....can't wait to get it, I loved that it was only $25 including shipping. Good job on riding a nervous mare......it sounds like a lot of fun.. Yesturday I did a proper fast day..... I lost 1 lb and I love it.... I had reached 240 calories by 2:00pm and wasn't sure I'd make it. But when I got home i got really hungry. So I ate some carrots and made a salad. Everything was pretty much low calorie until the homemade ranch dressing. But I still stayed under 500 calories..... I think I have to keep focused on eating mostly proteins and salads for the rest of the week. I really need to get 3 more lbs to be at my low and plus I would like to get into the 130's. Cathy I was always the picture taker in my family too. I can't really find any pics when I was bigger. the one I did find did not have any smile on my face either. I always felt like a hippo and hid.....
  20. Before I lost weight I was never cold; I was always warm/hot. No, cold is not the most comfortable situation, but to me, it is a celebration of change! I would rather wear a jacket, sweatshirt or even a coat (hardly EVER wore a coat before!) than almost 50 extra pounds for warmth! Besides, now I can sit in a ball on the sofa, reading or watching tv, with my feet under me and my knees drawn up because my belly is no longer in the way...as much. lol Any other 'weird' NSV's?

How was your 5:2 day today?

Aaaah Florinda, you are right I AM a hopeless romantic...I can't help it. Even when good friends tell us they are divorcing (seems to be happening now that we are in our 40's instead of our 20's and 30's...hum maybe there IS something to that "midlife crisis"...always kind of thought it was hogwash...lol) I'm like " but did you try everything else first??" Ha ha. Even when they have I'm sad to see people part ways. The question of 6 months...will you be able to to physically? Can you even answer that question? You won't KNOW how you are going to feel in 1 month, 2 months, etc. I would say if you are feeling relatively "stable" now with what is working then 6 months would be good with the idea of saving some $$$ and giving you more "time" to look for that career, place to live, etc. It also gives you a definite timeline to work with: you can calculate your savings, and start a master plan that includes a place to live, etc. My only question would be what happens if you suddenly don't feel OK and you need to leave? What are the parameters for that situation? What is at stake? Sarah, OMG I love that NSV. What a cool thing! Something happened recently with my 11 yo and she found a photo while cleaning her room. She was like "you don't even look like the same person" but I waited --holding my breath-- and she didn't mention fat. LOL I can't remember what she said but she noticed a big difference in my face. Interestingly enough someone at the gym just said something about how good I'm looking and (not that you looked bad before...lol always gotta throw that in but this person only knows me from the gym in the last year or so, not the BEFORE surgery me...) but she mentioned how my face has changed in the last few months (just me getting older ha ha!) but anyway, I think my body composition must be changing a bit due to the weight workouts. 3+ months now...woo! I did NOT fast yesterday. I don't know what happened...worked out for an hour (intense mix of cardio, weights and abs) but did okay until AFTER I picked up the kids from school and then it just went out the window. I didn't eat probably more than 1200 cals but certainly NOT a fast day. Where is my brain??? Anyone seen it lately? I think I'm going to try and do an all liquid day today to beat the carb monster back into it's cage. Gotta do something...
  22. My NSV was to easily walk to my lower garden, which is a steep hill and back up the hill without a problem.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Ladies, I posted this in the vets forum but I wanted to post it here in case anyone missed it. This really touched a deep part of my soul today and I wanted to share it with all of my closest "Pal" friends. (I stole that from you, Kim!) I just experienced the best NSV ever! This just happened... My 10 year old was playing in the basement, he came upstairs and said, "Mom, I found some pictures of me when I was little and you were in them. You look really different now. Your face used to be so puffy. Mom, you lost a lot of weight, I am really proud of you!". He then came over to me with a smile on his face and gave me a big hug. My heart melted. He was only 7 when I had surgery. I asked him if he remembered me when I was big. He said he didn't. I was glad. He also told me I looked really sad in all of the pictures. We talked for a while about being healthy and about never making fun of fat people. He then asked me how our lives would be different if I wouldn't have been fat. (Where in the world this little guy came up with a question like this is beyond me!) I told him that was a really good question and asked him what he thought. He said,"I think you would have been a lot happier and your face wouldn't have looked so sad in those pictures.". This was a very touching moment for me, I don't want to ever forget it.
