So, How often do you have a bowel movement? i know this is an off color topic that most women dont talk about but honestly, I work in healthcare and I am not real shy about bodily functions. Since surgery I am only going about every 4 days. Is that a normal time frame for a bandster? Also, TMI, Its pretty difficult to actually go. Before surgery it was pretty much on schedule every day. you know the routine....Sh*t, shower, shave, lol Now its really unpredictable, hard as a rock, and difficult. Any suggestions?

Hi guys, I read your post this morning and it made me sad I have a real issue keeping my protien intake high enough while still staying under my calories for the day. When I use the Protein shots, or protein bars/drinks...to help get those extra grams in they are great, and low in calorie..but OMG the gas!!! (TMI alert!!) Not so much the PU of it..but the pains in the belly. Grumble rumble tumble..and I can't exactly rip it here at my desk! By the time I get to the ladies room..I can sit there a good 10 minutes just blasting away..sounds like world war three! EMBARRASSING! Then of course when the protein is not high enough I am not losing any weight..and I'm feeling tired all the time and consequently got myself sick with a bad upper respiratory infection! So this morning...I was on a tirade! I am an overweight, gas blasting, bald cranky b***h! Get out of my way!!!!! Good thing it's Halloween...I got everyone running scared! BOO! Hoo...what should we do??? Yeah yeah I know protein..get your gas mask on, the bombs are about to blow!

ok so ill add one to this growing list. It amazes me that my hubby (who had WLS the month before me) and myself can hug each other without having to lean into each other over our bellies. and the sex just gets better and better. sorry tmi! -
You know I just might be yours and AZhikers cousin. Carry a bottle with me. But first drink and whenever I forget to keep up my fluid, I cough up dry strings or chunks of dry mucus Maybe I also have low-grade sinusitis, or is owning up to it a TMI?

Burning urination & protein intake...
AvaFern replied to HopeandAgony's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Did your doctor at least give you UTI antibiotics? My urethra hates me and I get UTI's a few times a year. As a point of possibly TMI, I have had 2 UTI's in the last month. One of them I didn't even need the test because there was blood in the urine, but the test came back positive, the second time earlier this week, the test was negative, but within 24 hours of taking antibiotics, my symptoms had started to clear up. A UTI test doesn't always pick up the problem so maybe ask your doctor to give you some antibiotics and see if it helps clear it up. Also, you can take those AZO tablets at the drug store. They turn your urine orange, which is weird, but they do help relieve some of the symptoms. Oh and a heating pad between my legs does wonders for the urgency and burning feeling. Past that, I have not had any issues with Protein shakes causing that sort of problem, at least to my knowledge. Hope you feel better! -

Help have surgery date but want to hear from real people

I was sleeved on December 2nd. I remember waking up when my coworkers called my name at 8 pm. I asked them were my sister was. They found her. Then my bladder decided to kick in after the left. My nurse wanted me to walk to the bathroom. I made a deal that the next time I would walk to the bathroom. Needless to say I didn't go on the bedpan. At 10 pm I was out the bed walked to the bathroom. Oh I hit the pca pump before going to the bathroom. From then on I was walking to the bathroom. They had me on the pca pump. Right now I can't remember the name of the other pain med that was given. My pain was well managed. I didn't have the gas pain. My nurse said it was probably because I moved around so much while I was in bed. I walked around on and off. I stayed in the hospital for one day. You will be cold after surgery. Once I got home I only took extra strength Tylenol for pain. Only exercise I did walk around my apartment the first six weeks. Week 7 I was at the gym. I was constipated. TMI. Lol. I talk stool softeners and that helps. My hot flashes went on vacation for six weeks. Now my body can't decide if it wants to have a hot flash or a cold flash. I weigh myself every two weeks. I had a stall the first month. I'm losing slowly but that's ok with me. Keep gas x strips handy. Keep you blanket close by Take it one day at a time Don't weigh yourself every day or you will go nuts Walk, walk, walk Sugarfree popsicles can be your best friend I hope this helps -
Getting sleeved July 12

I drank almost the amount and I'm being discharged today. Pain is better but now I have diarrhea (sorry tmi). Anyone else experience stomach upset this way? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm 5 weeks out from RNY, and I'm frustrated and discouraged. I can't eat or drink without nausea, and many times whatever I put down wants to come up in a "juicy burp" (I'm really sorry if that's tmi). I talked to my nut yesterday and she suggested Popsicles because they take more time and should help going down. However, even the Popsicles make me nauseous. On top of that, since I'm barely eating or drinking, I thought the scales would show something for all my trouble, but I've stalled. I have an appt to see my surgeon next week. I know I have a narrowing of my anastomoses and he may go in and stretch that. Please tell me things get better!

Wow, all this talk is getting me so excited about my journey I've already got this stuff and I'm not even banded... hope this isn't TMI, but if your butt is "sore" down there, try A & D gel in a tube (not the cream). It makes it not sting and doesn't hurt when you go number dos.

Biggest surprise/regrets after surgery?
swimbikerun replied to SeahawksGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Quest4TheNewMe I'm sorry. I understand what you mean. American culture nowadays is so much TMI, so much everything out there, that it makes it hard for people to simply want to get on with their lives. -
Liquids After Surgery-- Please Help.
jlholmes5 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All- I was sleeved on February 15, and I am STRUGGLING getting liquids down. I am curious, did anyone else have issues with this? How much were you getting down 3-4 days after surgery? I am afraid I am starting to get dehydrated (just from the color of my urine (TMI, I know). I am allergic to the pain medicine so I can't take any of that, and the antibiotics gave me thrush. So the horrible taste in my mouth is just too much...I don't want to put anything in my mouth. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank-you. -
I had that problem the week after surgery and I used Milk of Mag and that worked, I was starting to get really worried and you don't want to be straining after having surgery on your stomach, may be TMI, but hey, it happens. I took probiotics before surgery that kept me regular and after surgery, when I was allowed to (2 weeks), I got back on them and they keep me regular. They don't work overnight, as for that 2 weeks I could not take them, I could definitely tell, but I'm now 2 months out from surgery and back on track. The Pearl probiotics are really, really small so no problems with taking them now or in the future with a tighter band. Just another option to add to the list. Oh and like the above commenter said, my nutritionist said about the only thing sugar free candy is good for is if you are constipated, lol.

Maybe it's hormonal? Are there any banded men with the same problem? Today it took me 45min to get down oatmeal, but lunch was just fine (two or three small oxtails with two very small chopped up potatoes and three chopped pieces of carrots), dinner-1 small chicken wing and it's hard to swallow my own spit! I am ovulating (I know TMI) and I'm full as hell...what gives!!!!!

First off, i apologize if this turns into TMI. But if I cant be real here where can I be real at? So I woke up in recovery with the left shoulder pain. It comes and goes. Its bearable. I can deal with it. The barium swallow stuff gave me baaaaad diarreha (sp?). Like bad. I talked to my drs nurse about some other stuff and she said it will fo away in a few days and I shouldnt be going more than 5 times per day and it shouldnt be like i have to run to the bathroom or im gonna go on myself. If either of the 2 apply I need to call the office. Ok, neither apply. I asked her aboit gas x which i have NOT taken. She told me NO it would not help. Yesterday I ate a popscicle and omg, i dont know what it did but my insides are gurgling and churning and screaming. They have not stopped. Its like an alien in there trying to escape. It kept me up a lot last night. I swore in my packet of info from my dr it said you can use gas x. I am gonna dig that paperwork out. The diarrhea is still there but getting better, not worse. Yet the gurgle gut is insane. I got up on the middle of the night and walked, nope, it did nothing. I go to the toilet thinkinf I have to go, nope. Is this type of gas normal? J Banded 9/22

Hi, I'm 7 days post op and I am having a really hard time tolerating the premier Protein premade drinks. They are so gross & Too sweet for me. I also think they are irritating my stomach. I wake up every morning with lose bowels. I know, I'm sorry TMI, but I didn't know who to ask? . Can anyone recommend another way to get my protein in besides the doctor approved protein yogurts? Maybe some that aren't so sweet, or clear ones, or lactose free ones that are clear? Thank you in advance

Need advice: Protein drinks
gjb2017 replied to Tonabella's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
IMHO, if it is related to the bariatic surgery journey, there is never TMI. -
So far calories and such look ok but its hard be sure its not food related unless you post examples (not all calories are create equal)How are you doing on Vitamins? TMI ALERT How are your bowel movements? Are they super regular? If not this can slow down weight loss , which is why your team may add Fiber supplements and laxatives... Check in with your team soon and express your concerns. But let me tell you. I thought I was losing slowly (which I am) and was a little bothered by it a while ago until more recently when I noticed the sag in my skin and just then i became grateful about the pace and that it's not worse, which it would have been if I lost any faster. If you can think of any other info to add please do, we can help you figure out what questions to ask your team. Other than weight loss, how are you feeling? VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167

Day 4 Post Op And Just Have No Energy
acoleman380 replied to acoleman380's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you everyone for the replies. I feel a little better. I ate some tomato soup and drank some tea and hae been resting. I know my daily struggle will be getting the protein in because the shakes just arent working for me. I have to force myself i guess. I had my first BM today since surgery (tmi..i know sorry) so hopefuly that helped as well. I was one of the ones that didnt have to do the pre-op diet so this is just a drastic change. I have 10 more days until i can start mushies/soft foods.....*sigh* seems soooo far away :/ -
I had the band in 2005. It was good in the first couple of months, but after my gallbladder decided to go bad, my banded life was never the same. I suffered with chronic reflux and could not tolerate a fill. The reflux was directly related to laying flat, so I slept sitting up for almost 5 years. When I had my band out, my bariatric surgeon offered to convert me to the sleeve at that time. But I didn't know enough about it and wasn't comfortable permanently changing my anatomy. 8 years later, after I gained all of my weight back, I started seriously looking into being sleeved. Was finally sleeved on 4/10/18. Here's the differences I've experienced: Because I couldn't tolerate any fills in my band, I had very little food restriction. I had limitations in the AMOUNT of food I could consume, but I had no food intolerance with the band. The only thing that kept me on track was faithfully following the banded rules. I'm now almost 6 weeks out from being sleeved. I have more restriction than I ever did with the band. My stomach gurgled a lot at the beginning, but not so much now. I have very little appetite. In terms of food intolerance, I have noticed that I don't do well with bread. That's bread that's gone through the rising process. I don't vomit or anything, it just doesn't feel good or comfortable whenever I eat bread (even if it's toasted). I'm good with tortillas and crackers, but not bread. I've had pasta and rice with no issue, although I must admit that I can't eat very much of it and I certainly wouldn't make a meal of it. At most I can eat a half cup. If I try even 1 more bite after I've hit my limit, I suffer for at least a half hour. It feels like I have to burp but nothing comes out other than slimy bubbles. (sorry if that's TMI, but it's the truth). Also, with most of my meals I am forced to eat very slowly. If I eat too quickly I get an uncomfortable feeling, not quite pain, but my sleeve reminds me very fast that I am eating too quickly. EX: it takes me about 20 minutes to eat a single serving of Greek yogurt. Hope this helps.

Ok i have a weird question for all of you shape wear users! Has anyone ever gotten a yeast infection in the belly button from wearing shape wear everyday? I ask this because it happened to me, and I cannot figure out what it is from. I wear a take under my clothes everyday, 1 to keep the muffin top in check and 2 to keep warm. I noticed a weird smell (TMI?) the other day when i took it off, and looked it had some discharge on it near where the bellybutton would be, low and behold, my BB was all red and itchy and oozing!!! YUCK!!!!! I'm grossed out just telling you all, but need to know if i should seek medical help, or just use OTC cream!! thanks, patti
