I have a few questions, bear with me... :(
NYC_gal replied to NYC_gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your reply.... it seems to get a reply on here, I have to post TMI TMI TMI and talk about my bathroom issues.... Anyways, I'm just a bit concerned because my previous doc more or less starved me....to the point where I couldn't handle a sip of water. I would try to eat the foods I was told I should be able to eat and I would get sick everytime. I feel like now I have some kind of anxiety before and while I eat because I'm so afraid its going to result in me throwing up. :frown: I've been sticking to soup/broth and as of this morning I was having A LOT of trouble getting juice down. I just don't want to end of being the problem, like every doctor I see can't be wrong.... -
Am I the only one?? That thinks a bowel movement during phase I post op is freakin amazing 🤷🏽♀️[emoji1440]♀️[emoji846]🤣

If you're on the two week pre-op liquid diet of protein shakes, that's a lot of protein and zero fiber. My advice is to buy both Miralax and suppositories pre-op. Mix miralax in Day 2 post-op and I needed to use a suppository on day 3 or 4. Since then I've been really regular (TMI) but yes every visit to the toilet is a gift. -
Hi guys, abit TMI but I’m currently 9 days into my pre op LRD and I’ve noticed my bowel movements are not as regular as I’ve known them to be previously. I can now go 2 days without passing. Is this expected due to the little amount of calories ? Has anyone else had or have the same issue ? Thankyou!

Got sleeved today....need reassurance!
RHmama replied to RHmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Update, day 4: I'm still in a lot of pain. Barely getting enough liquid/calories/protein in. Yesterday I pushed myself and managed to get in about 220 calories and 40 grams of protein, but probably only about 20 ounces of water on top of that. I'm peeing, so I'm not super worried about being overly dehydrated. This morning I'm having bad waves of pain. Different from other days. And this is probably way TMI, but is it normal to not have a BM 4 days after surgery? I figure it's because I haven't really had any food? I'm going to be emailing my doctor's office this am too, but interested as always in hearing what all of you say! -
I understand tmi but I had that happen while at work and know what you mean. I ended up waddling around work after spending 20 min in the bathroom. Finally after walking around it helped with that particular moment. However, to prevent it going forward, definitely up the liquids it made all the difference.

My weight was right on the line between 39 & 40. If I'm a little constipated (TMI sorry) its 41. If I'm "cleaned out" it's 39. The two days before my appointment I ate sushi, salty foods, etc so id retain water and weight. And my BMI they documented at 40.9. Beautifulnewme is right - Gotta do what you gotta do.

So I know this may be TMI but I can't be the only person dealing with this issue... When I first got home I had diarrhea which I know is normal after surgery... Now, for the passed 2 days I am constipated.. I took 1 colace last night and 3 today... I know it says it takes 12-72 hours to work... I am getting 64 ounces of water and walking every day.. I am on full liquids right now... Should I be alarmed or is this pretty normal? Any words of wisdom would be great! Thanks y'all!

Well I have kept to the diet so far and that already is more willpower than I expected to have, haha! But I will say, when I am able to keep myself from thinking about how I haven't "eaten" anything, I'm not really as hungry as I expected to be. My shakes make my stomach a little upset, gassy and bloated (sorry if TMI) which I think also has helped to curb my appetite. My Nut doesn't have strict caffeine rules, so I'm living on coffee between meals, which always helps suppress my appetite. I will switch to decaf for next week How are you guys doing on your diet?

Highly encourage to stop washing your vagina with soap, just plain water. Drink tons of water and cut out all products with yeast. I had a horrible yeast infection last summer and making these changes haven't had one. I just had the surgery a few days ago and I noticed a change in my discharge. Will change my underwear a few times during the day, wash with Apple cider vinegar once or twice a week, the rest with plain warm water. And TMI when I poop I wash just my butt with soap and my vagina with water if that makes sense. Just be gentle with your vagina, she can heal.

Okay friends I am so sorry for this tmi post but I'm 4 days post op and as soon as I put anything in I have to go to the bathroom. My information from my surgeon says I can take immodium so after going several times I sent a family member to get some, and the dosing reads after loose stool take one tablet and after every additional loose still take one, I took 3 yesterday and still ended up pooping my brains half the night, then today the same viscous cycle. My friends and family say I need to stop taking the immodium because I'm going to cause a bowel obstruction but this morning I literally had a accident in my bed because it was so loose I couldn't make it to the bathroom! I'm so sorry this is tmi but idk what to do!!! Thank you so much

Figured I'd say Hi, as there doesn't seem to be a lot of men on this board. I'm 28, and just recently relocated to the Northwest, and decided it was time to lose this weight. Moving from Texas, where the majority of everyone is severely obese, I found myself in the extreme minority out here. The looks and rude comments behind my back have led me to this point. I also am having extreme knee problems, from walking up two flights of stairs each day at work. I attended a WL seminar last week, and I'm still waiting to hear back from their office on insurance verification for surgery. From all the research I've done with BCBS MA, I don't think there's any issue with me qualifying. The doctor told me it's usually a 6-8 week process from insurance verification, so here's looking to two months out Having never worked out before in a gym, do any of the men have suggestions on where to start, after getting surgery? Is a personal trainer worth it? When I was in the military, I was accustomed to running 5 mile runs every other day, so I don't think cardio will be much problem at all. Finally, for my first topic, I brew beer. I brew damn good beer in fact. Is beer drinking (even very occasionally) something that I will need to give up? I'm not talking about downing a 12 pack of coors, I'm talking about enjoying a delicious home-brewed coffee chocolate stout with 8.9% abv, once in a blue moon. Thanks, and I hope it wasn't TMI for my first post.

If I was a horse, they'd shoot me
AmyInOrlando posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First let me say.... Dr. Alvarez Rocks !!!! He and his staff were supportive, knowledgeable, and charming. The Nurses were gentle and kind. OK, with all the niceties behind me.... I am miserable. Turned out I had a very large hiatal hernia. I had no clue, had never been diagnosed, and was asymptomatic. It made my surgery longer and more intensive. My sleeve sisters were burping and farting (TMI), but not me... I was itching like crazy. No rash, just itching. They gave me a Benadryl with only dehydrated me more and made me more uncomfortable, and I was and still am itching. I was also coughing up white foam. Last night once I got home I fell asleep in my recliner. I woke up soaked in sweat. I peeled my clothes off and got in bed and began coughing up the taste of the vile liquid antibiotic. I'm doing my best to sip, sip, sip, but I'm so weak. Just walking across the room and I'm short of breath. Sorry for the whining, but this procedure was no "piece of cake". The gas has settled behind my left shoulder and I'm just miserable. I didn't have gastric reflux pre-op, but I guess I'm one of the "lucky ones" that has it now. Please.... somebody shoot me. -
I had an IUD years ago & hopefully they are better than they used to be. I had it for a year & it left me with blood clot issues each month. I never got over them until menopause. Sorry about TMI.

I re-started at around 4 months post-op . No regrets - love my coffee!!!! It definitely helps with my fluid intake and " regularity" ( sorry tmi)

Kind of TMI topic but here goes: I think I have a problem "downstairs" Had sex with my partner 4 days ago. We use condoms so no issues there. I am now itchy down there. It burns when I pee. It hurts when I wipe. It could be because I was a bit aggressive when checking and spreading down there. I was convinced for a minute that my partner gave me something, he got himself checked, nothing. My gyno isn't free till Friday. I'm freaking out. I've read a few ladies get UTIs after getting sleeved. Can anyone tell me symptoms or signs of a UTI or yeast infection?

You are being way too hard on yourself but good to own up on mistakes. We all have and will make them. I've found this to be an exploratory journey and learning how/what to eat again. I was working sucking on an apple sauce pouch and ate it in like 5 minutes, 3.5oz, didn't think anything of it but then my stomach got super full after 15 minutes and I had to keep spitting in my trash can to avoid vomitting (TMI). I know I'll never do that again! BTW - congrats on the new job!

Miracle cure for constipation...at least for me
Losing_It_In_Texas posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know about y'all, but I was suffering from MAJOR constipation after my surgery on 9-22-08.....I mean like I had only 2 BM's in a month. When I went in for my first fill on 10-22, I told my surgeon about it and he recommended eating 4-5 dried apricots EVERY morning with my breakfast. I was skeptical at first since I had already tried Miralax and Milk of Magnesia to no avail. Let me tell you, the apricots have worked wonders for me....I am now going at least every other day....WOOHOOO!!! TMI, I know....but maybe this will help someone else who is suffering like I was. -
This really resonated. Perhaps TMI but recently during sex I caught sight of myself in the mirror and instantly started judging my floppy bits, the loose skin, the rolls. Fascinating that after losing 50 kilos I can still judge myself so harshly. I, too, get compliments on almost a daily basis. I also get attention from men that I didn't get before though I am hopeful that is more about increased confidence and happiness than simply weight. Because it almost hurts to realise just what I looked like. I see photos from a year ago and can't quite believe that was me. I am shocked seeing just how fat I got. And I view the old me the same way I am now seeing other obese people. With shock, with interest, with some compassion but, sadly, with a dose of judgement too. I notice how aware I become of what others are eating and I can see people as big as I was eating as I used to, mindlessly, unconsciously. It is troubling but I say nothing, I know there is nothing to say. I went through a stage early one post surgery where watching people eat actually made me feel sick. Now it can make me sad.

Constipation. Tmi!
deekaspor replied to Crystalite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried laxitives and powders but they really do not make a difference. When are you are able to exercise, running really helps. You know sort of impacts everything down in the correct area, hee hee I dont think there is such thing as TMI on this site:-) -
I'm 7 days post sleeve surgery (surgery date 1/31/13). I've been heavy all my life, but was always pretty athletic and held it together well. I'm roughly 6ft tall, and over the past couple of months, I went from 240lbs to 290lbs with the help of food, and some bad discs in my neck and back. So I decided to start looking around for alternatives for weight loss due to high BP and bad neck and back problems. Fast forward to today. Each day I experience a few different things...pains in my sides, extreme tenderness in one incision, extreme bloating, and now explosive gas and diarrhea (I know, TMI). I get extreme pains in the substernal area. I'm probably just paranoid, but mentally I feel like I did the right thing for my health, but I am very nervous about each little change. I know I'm only 7 days, but I guess I'm just looking for some comfort.

Howdy Sleevers, Well today is day Five and I wanted to let you know what i'm able to do today and how I feel. I awoke this morning at 6:30 (normal time) I had my best nights sleep so far l. Still not comfortable sleeping on my sides but getting use to sleeping on my back. This was my first night without any pain medication throughout the whole night. I woke up feeling like I had been in an all day Ab class at LA Fitness but once I walked around that subsided. I think my parts shift a little in the night and when I stand they settle again. Took one dose of pain medication (this is a liquid they send you home with). Loaded dishwasher, fixed Breakfast for my boys and fixed school and work lunches. Took my longest shower (you know girls, the one where you shave, exfoliate, and condition the hair). Put full makeup on (I'm a Texas so that can take a while) and did my big Texas hair.....(blow dry and flat iron).. Took a walk outside around my backyard and proceeded to watch daily news and whatever morning show I could keep interested in. Had WonTon broth for lunch, I'm not doing well on the clear liquid Proteins... they are too sweet or too gritty. I was a gourmet food lover so the nasty taste of powdered Soups and over sweet drinks is not my style. Now if they had a Protein Soup that tasted like Lobster Bisque and a drink that had the flavor of a nice Cabernet I'd be totally on board. I did email my Nut to see if I could start reg. Protein shakes. I have to tell you... food is starting to look good (to many shows on morning TV with Food). Around 12:30 I felt the need for a nap (which I took) about 2:30 I woke up full of energy again. I'm getting close to wanting to bust out of the house. I don't stay cooped up well. My incisions are looking good today. I can really tell the swelling is going down. I'm also wearing regular fitted clothes with zipper and button with ease. I couldn't help but step on the scale today and I've lost all the weight I gained during surgery (8-10 lbs). I'm now 8 lbs down which includes one week liquid pre-op diet. I expect that number to change a lot in the next couple weeks. Last night I felt healthy and strong enough to cook my family their regular dinner with comfort. The standing feels good and helps pass gas. I did have my first BM (sound like my mother). It was very very lose almost watery like so if you feel a BIG fart coming on you may want to hit the bathroom and make sure your body is not having its first BM... (sorry if TMI) I've also (as you can tell) been able to work from home using laptop without feeling lightheaded. Well, as usual if I missed anything or you have questions please let me know and i'll be happy to answer best I can. Everyone have a wonderful weekend! Kim

The place was the best... all the employees really like their job and it shows. If you get a nurse named Will you must tell him Kim said hi. (remind him my son is in the Navy) Will was a Marine. Yes.. the floor is mostly WLS with a few Hernia's. We all look like walking zombies walking the hall with our IV rolling racks. ONE VERY IMPORTANT NOTE. They do not let you change out of your surgical gown so take a robe and some panties to cover your back side when walking. I had a simple thin cotton robe that worked great and I took several pair of panties because (TMI ALERT) some times when you are trying to pass the gas you may piddle a little and wish for some clean undies. Our group was very social so we would go visit each other in our rooms etc. the nurses said that was a little unusual but 2 of us were from this forum and we found each other quickly and became walking buddies. There will also be men on this floor so another good reason to make sure the rear end is covered. The rooms are every bit as nice as the pictures and yes i walked the halls. this place is very clean. the nurses station is in the middle so you will always pass them. All the nurses work a 12 hr shifts from 7 - 7. When you arrive your family will be given a restaurant style flashing pager that the hospital will use to let your family know they are needed. My husband was allowed to sit with me in pre-op after I was changed into my surgical gown. You will have lots of people come visit with you to go over everything with you then you get that magic iv push and off you go. Let me know if you have any other questions. I still fresh with thoughts...

Yea 5 weeks.... The first two weeks I was really positive and this last week I just don't feel like anything is happening, like I am in a stall on the pre-op diet, not sure how that happens, I'm not eating hardly anything. Plus every three months I get a depo shot and it is coming up to get it again, May 2nd, day before surgery. Since I have been getting the shot I never get my TOM, however it must be the drastic change in my diet because I have had a light one for the last 2.5 weeks, enough already.....I suppose that is making me more irritable and frustrated. Sorry if that was TMI. I just want it to get here already and I am afraid if I don't lose anything else, he might postpone me again.... Started reading a new book, so hopefully that should keep me busy. Thanks for the support =) Coming here keeps me busy for a while and I love reading all the successes people have and seeing the photos.
