I was banded Oct. 29, 2008. I have a 14 cc band. I had two fills so far. (6.5 ccs total) My weight was 229. I'm now 200. I just brought a wii fit and I love it. I try to work out at least 5 times a week. I can't wait for my third fill which is March 2. My doctor isn't agressive at all. He likes doing it slow. So Im thankful I have insurance that pays for it. If I was self pay I wouldn't like that.

I haven't been banded yet either, but I am on the way! I had my appointment with a nutritionist yesterday. That was interesting...asking questions about my eating habits (binge eater or emotional eater), my expectations of lapband and childhood history (i.e. overweight as child or not) and stuff like that. You have to really think hard and answer honestly if you expect this to work. Next the pyschology evaluation! I am excited and yet still scared! So much to consider. Keep doing your research and read all that you can about lapband! Be informed and you will make a good choice. Thanks for being my weight loss buddy! : )

Thanks for your response. I am still deliberating. One thing you mentioned at the end was about how my weight has kept me from doing things I want. The problem is, nothing is motivating me enough right now to
get me going strong, except for my health. Back in June of 2005, I lost weight to go sky diving after I was inspired by an amazing group of people who jumped as a group the year before. I lost 30 pounds to jump and it was one of the most amazing things I have done. It was one major thing I did where I did not let my weight get in the way. My parents and brother all remind me how I have to keep making these goals to keep myself motivated, but nothing seems strong enough. I barely lost 10 pounds for my brother's wedding. Something has got to give. I am excited and scared by things that I might find myself doing, but I'm thinking, maybe I need to lose the weight to see exactly what I've been missing. I don't see this happening without the aid of the Lap-Band. -Gina :>)

Hi MyraMack:
I find this whole websit very confusing. I wasn't getting your messages and now I think I know how to find them. Anyway, for some reason I thought you were in CA and at the same Hospital as me. Your in CT, you are probably wondering why I asked if they tried to rescheule your date. Anyway, I got my pre op instructions today. Liquid diet going good, down 12lbs, though I do 2-3 shakes a day and a no carb, protein small meal and the weight has still been coming off. I'm feeling nervous, but mostly about the funeral and how I will feel and all the hugging and stuff. I'm going to do good with my pain meds on that day. Talk to you soon.

I am self-pay so price is obviously a concern. I am scheduled for "banding" on February 21 with Dr.Pedro Kuri. I've heard lots of good things about him and his staff and so far, my experience has been good.
I'm nervous - not nervous about the procedure itself - but about whether I will lose weight. I understand that the band is a tool, not a solution and that I need to treat it as such. I am grateful for my family and botfriend's support, but Im worried about letting them and me down.
I broke the news to the b.f. (Alex) of my scheduled appt. and was relieved when he didn't pass judgement or try and talk me out of it (not his style). He's going to drive me down to Tijuana on Friday and stick around with me for

Yes my family knows. But dh's doesnt. They live out of town. I just told mil that I lost weight cuz we were talking about diet. And she is coming here next week so I didnt want she should become shocked. In the end I didnt even loose so much so whatever.. . I didnt even have to tell her.
what else?

I'm down 77 pounds and have 23 to go but the lapband doc said to not get discouraged because since it's not as much it will take longer to shed...so you don't worry about gaining a bit..it will all come off in the end..and guess what..I (a 52 yr old woman) bought a WII fit!! That little baby can kick some serious booty if you really work it like you should..man I had muscles let me know they are alive and well and I get to laughing at myself sometimes because I'll catch myself cursing that dang little cartoon character I'm following when running and the freaky yoga lady that keeps telling me how great my posture is..but if she only knew I was holding on to a dresser to keep from falling on my back side!! HA! So life is good now and you keep up the good work..you look absolutely beautiful!!!

Man..everytime I get on here and see your beautiful face I am inspired!! I have been on a L O N G plateau!! I had my band so tight I was pbing everything..even liquid..loosened it up and gained 1 pound after 6 weeks which really equates gaining about 7-13 pounds!!! He went in and put half as much back in me and I went to my regular doctor and she said I could stop now..HA! I am on nexium for the reflux I still get and since I suffer from that so bad I am also on ambienCR to help me sleep..but when I get that reflux...any bile or food that hasn't processed starts coming back up and I tell you honestly..you don't want to wake up puking all over yourself like I had been doing!! Now I am adjusting better but I'm still losing quite a bit of hair..I started taking protein supplements and biotin to help alleviate that but not much success there.

Thank you for the kind compliment! You will do well! Just follow the plan, I learned the hard way, the band is NOT magic! I have to work at losing the weight! Today is a discouraging day, but I know tomorrow will be a different day...work it one day at a time! Keep in touch and good luck!

EGD and Ultrasound. I wonder how much longer after that I have to actually have the surgery done. I am a getting excited but scared too. I don 't look forward to the pain. I hear the rny surgery is quite unpleasant at first. But I suppose that is to be expected considering they are re-plumbing. I am so looking forward to being healthier in the long run though.
How much weight have you lost so far? How's everything going for you?
-
How are you doing? There is not much going on these days on the forum. I have 17 days left before my band surgery. I can't wait to get it done. I am worried about the gas pain after surgery more than anything else. And hope to not gain any weight before then.
