Coke (any soda) is a HUGE source of weight gain and retension. Not to mention other bad things it does to your body. The biggest thing about soda is it helps to retain water especially coke. Now I am no doctor just going on what doctors have told me in the past. I started Hot tea day of surgery on my way home from the hospital. i waited 2 days to start regular coffee in moderation and made sure i got enough other liquids so that TMI i know my urine was clear. In the end Coffee should not hurt you if taken in moderation and you make sure to stay hydrated. Obviously you should steer clear of milk or cream unless its fat free and use a sweetner like agave or equal etc... Like i said im not a doctor just offering my honest humble opinion.

I've been doing good. I've lost 17 lbs so far and still shrinking. I still hurt a little but it's just a slight nagging pain in my left side. TMI...I had a lot of bathroom problems but finally figured that out. Don't wait 3-4 days to take something (lowest dose of Milk of Magnesia worked for me)and stool softeners don't help at first but I continue to take them.

Nope... see/call the MD. You want this resolved. I am lucky, after the first couple weeks I have been OK. (PS, there's never TMI here...)

This is probably TMI, but I had my revision from band to RNY on April 1. I had a gi bleed afterwards and had to get a blood transfusion. I'm doing fine now. I'm on the blended/pureed stage for eating. I'm getting about 60 grams of Protein in. Drinking Water about 40-60 oz. per day. My question is, dis any of you experience diarrhea afterwards? It's usually 2-3 times per day. Just curious if this gets any better. Thank you. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

I was starving the other day- I got stuck in denver buying a car and had to rush to pick up my daughter from work at mcdonalds. She brought a hamburger into the car and I asked if I could have a tiny bite. Big mistake! Within minutes I had to rush to the bathroom- Tmi- I'm not constipated anymore. That went on evening. Note to self- no mcdonalds!

preop-surgery-postop advice
vegasgirl44 replied to LateBloomer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LateBloomer! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post. I thought it was honest and entertaining. I think one of the great things about this site is that we get to read everyone's experiences before, during, and after the band. I just had my psych eval and nutrition visit today--surgeon appointment on the 15th, and God willing, I could have surgery in a few weeks. I have been reading everything I can, copying and pasting notes and lists of things to buy, and loving the whole thrilling process. I appreciate all posts, especially yours. The funny thing is when you talked about your period. I wondered the same thing and you answered the question for me. Many people would consider that TMI, but not me! LOL! I loved your post! Right up my alley, baby! -
FAIR WARNING: TMI ALERT! TMI ALERT! I had THREE consecutive nsv's today, and they all had to do with a flight to San Antonio. First of all, since the beginning of the pre op diet, then surgery, I've lost 34 pounds. Today, I saw the fruit of my labors. NSV #1: I went into the public bathroom at the airport, and the handicap stall was full, so I went into the teeny cramped one, hoping I (TMI! TMI!) didn't need to do a "twosey" because I can't reach the necessary location on my anatomy for proper cleansing unless I'm in the big stall. (I hope some of you know what I mean so i'm not a total freak!) Well, it turns out I would have had COMPLETE access to the necessary area!! HOORAAAAYYYY!!!! #2: I sat down in the airplane and BUCKLED MY SEATBELT!!!!!!! AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! AAAANNNND......... #3: Put the tray table DOWN!!! WOOOOO!!!!! UH HUH!! OH YA!!! UH HUH!!! OH YA!!! (then my day went downhill at dinnertime, but that's a different post! Still happy though!)

HI Ladies, Has anyone had issues with their period? I take birth control and had my period 4 weeks ago. I haven't stopped bleeding since then. No real heavy flow but spotting every day. My surgeon didn't have any suggestions. Anyone else having these issues or any suggestions? Thanks!

So fellow lady sleevers....... What kind of changes did you experience " down there "? Did your period change? What was ovulation like? Less/more vag secretions? Has your mons pubis shrunk? Libido? I know everyBODY is different, but I just want to know what may oray not happen. Like, what to expect.

OK Ladies, kinda embarrasing question for you all
Ms. Brightside replied to Adina's_Journey's topic in The Gals' Room
I'm waiting for insurance authorization for a VSG now, but I've had 2 other surgeries on my abdominal area that required catheterization and neither time was I required to shave beforehand, nor did I wake up shaved. One of those surgeries included a "bikini line" incision, even. Having said that, I recognize that we are all different and (TMI), I just don't have a ton of hair in that area. I'm especially interested in receiving my pre-op paperwork after reading this. I've only shaved once and regretted it immensely, lol! -
i'm 5 weeks post op as of today (: anybody else 5 weeks or 6 weeks post op? how are you all doing? i'll start off with me, eh, could be A WHOLE LOT BETTER! im schedualed for a fill on the 16th but i dont think im ready for it yet, not with my stupid nausea, that doesnt seem to go away and im taking my nausea pills, that alone makes me frustrated, other than feeling nauseated, i feel fine. hope i dont have that for the rest of my life, but for some people they have nausea for a few months right? my dr said try eating a pickle, he had a patient that went home one night ate a pickle and felt great! is it cause of the vineger? and the nausea is the only thing thats making me upset, its making me lose hope in getting back to myself and feeling 100% wonderfull ahh! my incissions are healing fine, but have hives around them and itchy dr said he didnt know what was causing it and he didnt know what was causing the nausea. i gotta go #2 (lol sorry tmi) and i cant! maybe thats another reason why my stomach hurts. i'll take a softener when i get home from getting my lip pierced. i had soggy cereal for breakfast yesturday its go lean kashi or something like that, i tried a string cheese yesturday with turkey breast deli wrapped around it had like 3 bites and i couldn't eat it anymore, i dont think i was hungry. i had a chicken leg for dinner with my fav BBQ sauce and i fed most of it to the dog and cats, it tasted good though. today i didnt have anything for breakfast, i cant decide on anything, but im gonna have string cheese, i wasnt too hungry for breakfast, anyways i feel fine other than having nausea, i hope it goes away, how are all you guys doing? :smile2:

10 Weeks Post Op Help
NovaLuna replied to FiguringItOut's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe if you share what your starting weight is? For example: say you are starting at a lower BMI and thus a lower weight such as if you're starting BMI is 40 or your starting weight was 233 pounds then l would tell you that 22 pounds in 10 weeks is really fantastic for the weight you started at because that means that you lost almost 10% of your total body weight in those 10 weeks. If you start at a lower weight then you can't compare your weight to someone who started like me at 389 pounds because I would have needed to lose 37 pounds to equal the same percentage of weight loss as your 22 pounds. Comparing your weight loss to people who started at a higher weight is going to do nothing more than drive you insane! Trust me, you don't want to do that! We all lose at different rates because we all have different circumstances and each of our bodies works different. Also, daily weight fluctuations is 100% normal. You can expect your daily weight to be different on average of a 2-5 pound difference due to fluid retention, or your bowels being full. Hell, even inflammation or an upcoming or current period can cause your scale to have a higher number than you want to see. I had to deal with my hypothroidism causing more stalls than anyone I've ever seen on this site ever mention (literally went into one at least once a month from month three post-op to now. My longest one lasted 47 days) and yet I was still able to reach my goal weight. I've been in a stall since I reached my goal weight, admittedly, but I'm still weighing in at 179 (was 179.4 today, despite the fact that I had physical therapy just three days ago and am having a TON of inflammation and hip pain because of my arthritis, AND just started my period, tmi, sorry). I used to drive myself absolute crazy comparing myself to others wondering why my weight loss was so damn slow compared to everyone else and I hope you don't do that to yourself! If you keep with the dieting guidelines, and keep up the hard work, then your body will get there. It may just take more time then you expected, but you can do it! Please try not to compare yourself and your progress to anyone else. We really do lose weight at our own bodies pace, and so trying to match someone else is just going to drive you up a wall! You will stress yourself out and my PCP warned me that stress can cause weight loss stalls (maybe that's why I had so many lol. I get stressed out wayyyy too easily!). Anyway, I'm sorry that you're stressing out! It's pretty normal, I think. To stress out and think your weight loss is slow, I mean. I think many of us unintentionally thought we'd have weight loss like 'My 600 pound Life' despite the fact that none of us were that big. It's unrealistic to compare oneself to that since we generally have nowhere near as much weight to lose. Personally, I think you're off to a great start in your journey and I really wish you all the best! -
My weight was right on the line between 39 & 40. If I'm a little constipated (TMI sorry) its 41. If I'm "cleaned out" it's 39. The two days before my appointment I ate sushi, salty foods, etc so id retain water and weight. And my BMI they documented at 40.9. Beautifulnewme is right - Gotta do what you gotta do.

Hi! I'm new here, glad I found this place. I had my gastric sleeve 4/4/16 and my surgeon said it was a textbook surgery. I was up right away walking but just couldn't get the gas out. Every sip of Water or broth I had brought some serious gas pains and I even had a sharp stabbing pain in the stomach area. My surgeon felt it was best for me to stay another day. I continued walking, I'd make 3-4 laps around the ward, the nurses said I was doing an awesome job. However, I still couldn't/hadn't passed any gas. On day 2 the nurses really started to push the fluids more. I had my first popsicle and learned that the sips of water I was taking must have been to big for my stomach because I wasn't having the pains as much. I was discharged about 4pm, 4/6/12. I was still struggling with pain when I drank but about 1am in the morning the gas was finally coming out (sorry if that is TMI .... but I'm sure we all went through it) ... I have never been so happy in my life! Drinking was so much easier after that, I have my sipping down to a science now. Yesterday, 4/7/16, I woke up and I felt good. Decided to take my walk down to the corner and back not once but twice. I'm not really sure how far it is and had planned to map it out with MapMyWalk on my next walk. But that didn't happen. My right side was hurting pretty bad, my body was telling me to slow it down. So I had a very boring evening, with small walks around the backyard. This morning I'm back to feeling great. Little to no pain and almost finished with my first 20oz of water. But I am not going to push it today. I look forward to sharing my journey with all of you and of course getting to know all of you.

Highly encourage to stop washing your vagina with soap, just plain water. Drink tons of water and cut out all products with yeast. I had a horrible yeast infection last summer and making these changes haven't had one. I just had the surgery a few days ago and I noticed a change in my discharge. Will change my underwear a few times during the day, wash with Apple cider vinegar once or twice a week, the rest with plain warm water. And TMI when I poop I wash just my butt with soap and my vagina with water if that makes sense. Just be gentle with your vagina, she can heal.

Got my 2nd fill last week and definally have restriction now! Well, my grandfather is in the hospital and between work and visits, no time to eat! I was starving! Well...I are too fast and .I got stuck! It hurt soooooo bad! I kept having to spit! I thought I was going to throw up ! Eventually it went down. I did spit up/threw up the tea I drank to try and get it down mixed with some plemn (sorry-tmi). Anyway, while I feel better, I don't feel right! My throat and chest kind of hurts! Is this normal? Not bad, but not right eithe! Ughhh!!!

I understand tmi but I had that happen while at work and know what you mean. I ended up waddling around work after spending 20 min in the bathroom. Finally after walking around it helped with that particular moment. However, to prevent it going forward, definitely up the liquids it made all the difference.

This is such a TMI topic I had to try a cute subject line. Why oh why is constipation part of the plan for gastric bypass? Is it because we can't eat veggies until two months post-op? What happened in surgery that made it this way? I'm really ready for this phase to be over!!!

What are BEST side effects of WLS for you besides the WL?
Creekimp13 replied to mamabear_2_2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This one is kinda messed up and I have mixed feelings about it. Strangers treat you better. Isn't that sad? But it's true. Men hold the door, say hello, run over to help you do things. I was loading giant bricks of bottled water into my car trunk the other day and some random dude jogged over and asked to help. Same dude would have NEVER helped me when I weighed 270...and when I was 270 I needed the help a hell of a lot more than I do now. But there he was...Mr. White Knight, slaying my Ice Mountain Spring Water, talking to my boobs. LOL. You really do forget that crap like that used to happen....until it happens again and it strikes you as ridiculous. Medical staff do listen better. Customer service is better if you have a question or need something anywhere you go. It says something very icky about the world....when being just a little more attractive....gives you agency and priority. Bleh! But on a happier note! I love being able to try on tall boots and zipping them right up without having to look for "wide calf" Being able to sit in booths in restaurants without squishing myself in there with a shoe horn. Oh, and being able to get out of them helps, too. LOL Here's a weird one. I take a certain pleasure in throwing half my meal away. This probably sounds awful, too, (because it's wasteful and I do try to take leftovers home when possible) but there's a freedom in it. There's a freedom in honestly not feeling obligated to order fries because I'm stopping at McDonald's. LOL. Who knew you could just order Coffee and be happy with that? I like feeling like I control food and not the other way around. That's an amazing feeling. Like that first time I found one of my husband's candy bars...and instead of eating it secretly in the bathroom, I put it on a plate, sliced it up into a million little slices, had a couple, and left most of it on the counter....and actually felt good about that. Like, that felt normal...my new normal. That's a great feeling. No denial. No binge. Just....I'm gonna have a bite or two and leave it because I can and I want to. That's new...and it's freedom. Another odd one. Feeling like I deserve pretty underwear. Never wanted to be seen naked or near naked...so bought cheapo ugly utilitarian undewear. Now, I get a certain twisted pleasure out of getting the super pretty more expensive stuff...cause even though my body isn't remotely without flaws or extra skin or scars and stuff...I feel like it's not that bad. I want the jewel tone pretty stuff now. My underwear drawer cracks me up and makes me feel weirdly pretty. Some very cool stuff in there! Being able to shave my legs and trim and paint my toenails effortlessly. NO MORE HEMORRHOIDS! Woohoo!!!! Things are looking (and feeling) brand new in that particular area. TMI, I know...but it's a truly wonderful thing to have fixed:) -
And now for more TMI: TOM question
crosswind posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really thought I had this timed perfectly when I set my surgery date. I'm usually like a swiss watch but I have heavy periods and it was the last thing I wanted to be thinking about when I flew to Mexico. So usually it shows up a couple days after the full moon, the 20th or 21st. Perfect: surgery date on the 29th. All over, no problems and no dealing with that right after surgery. Except it's not coming. Dammit I have even been* talking* to my uterus all day yesterday and today -- " Come ON already...Please. For once do what I expect you to. " But alas. I did just quit smoking and caffeine and SUGAR and I am deeply freaked out about getting on that plane on Monday so I guess I shouldn't be so surprised. Sigh. So I was wondering who all took Aunt Flo into surgery with them and if it was a problem. -

This might be TMI but I'm too embarrassed to call and ask my male doctor. I am 3 1/2 weeks out from my surgery and have lost about 35 lbs. The past week I have had a huge increase in vaginal discharge. It is like the kind you get right before ovulation. Has anyone else experienced this?
