Menstrual Cycle. I'm aware things are thing to be way messed up and getting back together due to my weight loss but I'm starting to think I've got a problem. I was on my period going into surgery...no big deal they got me through it but I've been on my period SINCE my surgery December 6th. Ive got light days and ive got heavy days. I don't have insurance so I'm going to get some insight here first. I will call my sleeve doctor but I know they will refer me to a obgyn. Yuck idk but I gotta figure this out and fast!!

This maybe a little TMI but I was sleeved 1/21/13, and have yet to have a BM. I wasn't really worried at first because of being on liquids for a week post-op, but I started eating pureed this past Monday (5 days ago) and still haven't gone. This also did't really have me too worried because I'm not getting a lot of food in, only about 1 tablespoon in 2 maybe 3 times a day. But this morning I woke up and thought today was the day... I can feel it movin in there and I've been extra gassy (TMI again, I know) and when I go to the bathroom I feel like I have to go but noting happens. It's painful being in there and it's painful trying to get it out, my abs are hurting from all the pushing. I tried taking a hot shower, and thought about Miralax but it would take me forever to drink all of it... ANY suggestions are greatly appreciated, please help!!

Tmi
Vicki Loichinger replied to droppingitlikeitshot75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome. Not TMI at all, this is something I think everybody deals with. I do now even pre op. I have had days that I was super excited to have a good BM. You are doing great. I am so happy for you. Keep on doing what you are doing cause you are making this work for you. Sending you continued healing thoughts and prayers. Gentle Hugs -
I was told no raw veggies for 2 months. I tried some the other day, around 3 1/2 months out and to my surprise (TMI!) it didn't get digested at all. So I tend to stay away from it. Carrots and peppers seem to be fine though.

Ok I know this is probably bordering TMI. My highest weight was 294 but mostly lingered about 280 since 2004. My sex life consisted of the ceiling view. But just recently I got the birds eye view lol. I was on top the whole time. Not out of breath, not hurting from shifting weight. No hurting my husband! I have been waiting for this for a very long time(so has my husband). I'm now almost 3 weeks post op at 250, dos 264? I'm pretty sure. But I just wanted to share my excitement about conquering another area in my life that I've so longed to have control of. And feel good about myself in the bedroom again! )

Today was a very bad day... My first one
Catgyrl68 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering how far into this process I would have "buyer's remorse". Now, just over 2 months from my initial consult, today was the day. I had my first (and hopefully ONLY) vomiting episode this afternoon. I had tried to drink my Protein shake a bit too soon after eating a piece of turkey bacon. Oh Lordy, I almost didn't make it to the bathroom fast enough. That was the strangest puking I've ever experienced. Everything came up exactly as it went down, including the cold shake. LOL (Sorry, TMI) After that, I got so depressed, thinking, "How on earth am I supposed to get any food protein in? One day I can eat chicken... The next day I can't. One day eggs are fine... The next day they make me nauseous. It would be so much easier if I didn't have that "75 GRAMS OF PROTEIN" hanging over my head. Please, please tell me it gets easier. -
I had my post op appointment yesterday and down 23 pounds!
Smof4 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone!! I had my 2 and a halfish post op yesterday, n i was surprised to see 23 pounds were gone . The doctor was pleased on how well I am doing, but im not!! Im so sick of the protein shakes they make me want to barf!! sorry for the tmi.. i know that i can come here and some of you probably feel the same way. I have been eating tuna, yogurt( which i hate) cheese, turkey and cottage cheese. I also tired eggs but i hate those too. So now back to the protein intake i need to find something that i like. I curently have Isopure vanilla flavored, EAS chocolate flavored and Optisourse this is a caramel flavor....but the taste is horrible now i have tried it with fruit as a smoothie and this morning it almost came back up what do you guys think about something else that is more like water flavored or clear n not horrible. I was thinking about those Special K protein water drinks...also i try and get in 3 bottles of water the 16 oz ones those kinda go down good. I feel like im not doing good enough and its frustrating me so much. I feel like crap in the mornings i wake up not hungry at all and just to think that i have to get the protein down yuck!! i don't even feel like getting back up. This is so sad i know i have worked so hard to give up now. Since i have lost so much weight last year i was 350!! now im 267. I hate this and the only thing im looking forward is being able to have more food and less protein drinks. The doctor told me yesterday that next week i can try grilled fish, chicken, turkey so i am!! and he wants me to drink 2 protein drinks...but they are getting expensive -
Okay...this is going to be TMI, and I am sorry for that. I was one of those individuals who had problems initially with explosive diarrhea. It was so bad I thought I was going to dehydrate. Then I went onto full liquids, and had the absolute opposite problem. I spoke with my surgeons office and they told me I could take peri-colace. The only problem I have with this is that it can be habit forming and will cause problems with bowel patterns. I have learned that mira-lax is very gentle and it does work and is non-habit forming. It seems like bowel issues are definitely part of the changes that come along, but also don't forget if you were getting narcotic pain relievers and are still taking them, they too will cause constipation. Water is one of the most natural things for constipation though.

Traveling for Plastics/how to pick a surgeon?
Luu2008 posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am heading towards making my goal weight this summer but we are not in the financial place to pay for surgery, I'm working P/T to save enough $. I am hoping for a combined tummy tuck and breast lift (implants if needed). My parents live in rural Wyoming, we are in New York. Due to DH's busy career and having small children my mom has offered to care for me post surgery. I don't see any other way. How do I pick a good surgeon w/o being from the area? Do I schedule consults via phone with photos? Is that even possible? Should I go for consults this summer when I am visiting my family, this would be one year ahead of scheduling a surgery? I am not sure how long a stay this will require as far as being near the surgeon for after care. My dh will be able to stay with me up to 2 weeks in Utah while my mom cares for our kiddoes. I know of several good surgeons here in NY, its frustrating.... My plan is to have surgery in Utah and then driving or flying to my parents home (drive is 9 hours, flight is one hour). My parents own an RV and have offered it so I could lay down during the trip which seems more pratical to me. My fear is if there should be complications and follow up care after that initial 2 weeks I'll be stuck in rural Wyoming nearest major hospital is in Montana 2 hours away, then 6 weeks later I will be back in NY 2000 miles away from my surgeon. I hope this wasn't TMI. -
Long term regret? Doubting myself
Aggiemae replied to Didjit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started this process once 10 years ago and lost so much weight during the pre op period that I didn't go through with it. I am great at diets, my problem has always been maintenance. This time my pre prep was extensive. Also I'm in my mind 60s and losing weight, even on 1200 calories a day had become impossibly slow and tedious. I've lost 23 pounds and I am already able to walk over a mile and at the risk of TMI, I have already lost enough abdominal weight to stop peeing in my pants. My husband and I are majorities. And other that my current preference for soft food and the fact that eating g out costs half as much it really hasn't effected our social life. The refrigerator is another story as the main cook learns not to cook meals for four when Nell two people eat more than 3 oz of food. The first 10 weeks are restrictive but so far I've put it into perspective. Keep in touch. -
So I was banded in March had a fantastic start. Dropped 20 PDS in the first two weeks. Got my first fill May 1st and did pretty good (nobody mentioned it would hurt to get your first fill lol) well now the last 3 days I've been getting sick no vomit but salty saliva and sometimes the gut reaction but no vomit. I've chewed and chewed and I've drank and drank. Fluids perfectly fine...foods not so hot. Nothing taste good I would rather just drink fluids all day. Tmi moment approaching (I'm just starting my woman time) is KT possible my band is just oober tight from the fill and my woman time (noticed it got tight last month too) I'm not sure if I'm battling an illness or if its band related. Oh and in case your wondering I'm not prego lol. See above tmi lol *sorry it posted 3 times :/

What Was Your Biggest Misconception About Surgery?
BBdoodle replied to hajones5891's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I was going to be sick all the time, puking, pooping, etc. etc. I went thru surgery with no problems what so ever. I have puked and pooped but only once in a while... I have pooping issues due to my gall bladder removal 10 wks after RNY but that issues is being delt with = sorry TMI. I never knew it would be this easy to have RNY. -
FAIR WARNING: TMI ALERT! TMI ALERT! I had THREE consecutive nsv's today, and they all had to do with a flight to San Antonio. First of all, since the beginning of the pre op diet, then surgery, I've lost 34 pounds. Today, I saw the fruit of my labors. NSV #1: I went into the public bathroom at the airport, and the handicap stall was full, so I went into the teeny cramped one, hoping I (TMI! TMI!) didn't need to do a "twosey" because I can't reach the necessary location on my anatomy for proper cleansing unless I'm in the big stall. (I hope some of you know what I mean so i'm not a total freak!) Well, it turns out I would have had COMPLETE access to the necessary area!! HOORAAAAYYYY!!!! #2: I sat down in the airplane and BUCKLED MY SEATBELT!!!!!!! AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! AAAANNNND......... #3: Put the tray table DOWN!!! WOOOOO!!!!! UH HUH!! OH YA!!! UH HUH!!! OH YA!!! (then my day went downhill at dinnertime, but that's a different post! Still happy though!)

My name is Mindy, I am from Arizona and have been considering weight loss surgery for over a year. Last year I attended a seminar and picked up a wealth of information, sadly my insurance has a wls exclusion. I began looking into Mexico and researching doctors and am confident with my decision choosing Dr Garcia. I am scheduled for surgery April 13th! Its coming up so fast, Next week I will start my preop diet and am beginning to get nervous. I am traveling by myself much to the dismay of my friends and coworkers. I have been experimenting with Protein powders trying to find one I like, and have weened myself off diet soda completely. This week I have been having a Protein Shake for Breakfast, usually a salad for lunch and a light dinner to ease my transition into preop diet and not going into carb withdraw!. I have a bunch of silly concerns and wondered if anyone had any input. I am going by myself and have saved up enough money for first class so I'll be more comfortable, San Diego is only a short flight, but I like my space. At the airport after surgery anyone have issues taking off shoes, bending down to get them, or lifting luggage? I want to be proactive at preventing infection what soap/ointments did you take with you for wound care, what do you use at home, and how often? A little TMI question here, but did anyone have issues using the restroom by themselves postop in mexico? I am def a hefty girl and would die if I cannot take care of myself. I have considered getting one of those wands that hold tp to assist, but I think I would die of embarassment. I work retail long days on concrete floors, plus the weight, plus family history has left me with bad varicose veins, has anyone had a dr concerned with increased risk for clots from having varicose veins? Any tips on how to stay hydrated in my type of work environment. A day like today I spent 8 hours on the floor, no break or lunch, and drank half a bottle of Water. I usually 'catch up' when I am at home so I don't get too dehydrated. I am planning on taking 4-6 weeks off of work. Will drinking larger quantities in a small amount of time get better after that time period? Thanks for any responses, I love these forums, they have both inspired and educated me!

Try to only stick to 1 Tablespoon of hemp hearts because they are high in fiber. Nice thing is it's great for people who are constipated all the time. I learned my lesson when I had 3 tablespoons..lol..TMI Sent from my Nexus 5 using BariatricPal mobile app

Today is my 6 month surgiversary. I have been wanting this day to come for so long!!! I remember how miserable I was the first 8 weeks after surgery. Sometimes the only thing that would get me through it was knowing that I would someday be right here - near my goal, eating more normal food, and living a good life. I was not sure what to expect from this journey - and it continues to surprise me. In some ways I am more limited than I thought I would be. However, I am also a lot more successful than I thought I would be. As of today, I have lost 52 pounds, gone from a BMI of 31 to a BMI of 23, gone from a size 18/20 jeans to a snug size 10, gone from a 40DD bra to a 34DD bra (which is still hard to find). This surgery was everything the lap band promised to be, but wasn't. It has forced me to change my life. These changes are not always easy to make, but you really have no choice. I still struggle with the emotional side of eating certain things. I am still restricted to just over a 1/4 cup of food, but I find that I am able to eat again within an hour - this is where I have to try and be disciplined. It's always easier when I am busy :-) I find that I have no physical sensation of hunger, but I do have powerful cravings - something I still have to work on. I can't drink alcohol because of a burning sensation I get when I drink it. I could probably triple up on acid reducers to fix that, but I figure I'm not missing out on much by not drinking. I also stopped eating bread because of reflux issues. I find I can skip my acid reducer altogether if I eat clean and I eat small portions - it's worth it to me to try and eat the right way and skip the meds. I've been off the acid reducers for about 3 weeks. My weight loss has slowed down a little. I think I am eating between 1000 and 1200 cals a day - more on the weekends because I have more idle time and I will snack a little. My report says I have lost 5.5 pounds in the last 30 days. It seems to come off in small bursts now - no weight loss for 2 weeks and then 2 pounds in a few days. That cycle is fine with me :-) I would be happy at this weight forever, but I am curious to see where my body wants to settle. On a personal note, I got engaged last month. I went wedding dress shopping and my biggest fear is that the dress will be too big for them to alter when it gets here. Crazy. It's 2 months till the wedding and I am hoping that I don't lose too much. Oh well, we'll deal with that when it happens... Finally, I'll talk about health. I don't exercise - I know, I know, it's terrible. I just haven't been able to force myself into regular exercise. I do walk A LOT more than I used to - to the store, around the block, by the beach, etc. I don't take the Vitamins anymore and my 6 month bloodwork was perfect. I stopped taking the acid reducer last month and I noticed the weird taste in my mouth went away and I have more frequent BM's (sorry if too TMI), I get about 60 grams of Protein a day - all from meat / yogurt / cheese, I eat about 50 grams of carbs - mostly from granola or oatmeal. I still eat 5 to 6 times a day. I have 8 pounds until I reach my "made up" goal. I know in my 20's I was very healthy at 120 pounds which would be another 20 or so to lose. I don't know if I want to go there - at this point I feel like I am along for the ride. If I lose 10 more, great! If I lose 20 more, great! If I stay where I am, great!! Bottom line: right now, I am really happy. Good luck to all----

OK...here's what I have to say abuout this...first off I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one with a problem not being able to pooh. I recently went to the doctor for severe back pains and I go back this Friday for a follow-up. Well...after thinking about it, I'm probably in pain because I don't go to the bathroom very often. Prior to surgery, I was completely opposite. I could not go anywhere after eating because it came right back out. Now...I am LUCKY if I go once a week and when that time comes, it's not very comfortable. I use Benefiber but it hasn't been very successful for me. The Benefiber doesn't make me gassy, but I have to say that since surgery I have been gassy anyway. I'm very lucky to have a private office at work because let me just tell you...it's not very nice at work sometimes (I know...TMI). So everyone...good luck with this blockage problem...I'm fighting the same fight at you guys!!! -
HI Ladies, Has anyone had issues with their period? I take birth control and had my period 4 weeks ago. I haven't stopped bleeding since then. No real heavy flow but spotting every day. My surgeon didn't have any suggestions. Anyone else having these issues or any suggestions? Thanks!

I have a few questions, bear with me... :(
NYC_gal replied to NYC_gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your reply.... it seems to get a reply on here, I have to post TMI TMI TMI and talk about my bathroom issues.... Anyways, I'm just a bit concerned because my previous doc more or less starved me....to the point where I couldn't handle a sip of water. I would try to eat the foods I was told I should be able to eat and I would get sick everytime. I feel like now I have some kind of anxiety before and while I eat because I'm so afraid its going to result in me throwing up. :frown: I've been sticking to soup/broth and as of this morning I was having A LOT of trouble getting juice down. I just don't want to end of being the problem, like every doctor I see can't be wrong.... -
Hi guys, abit TMI but I’m currently 9 days into my pre op LRD and I’ve noticed my bowel movements are not as regular as I’ve known them to be previously. I can now go 2 days without passing. Is this expected due to the little amount of calories ? Has anyone else had or have the same issue ? Thankyou!

Got sleeved today....need reassurance!
RHmama replied to RHmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Update, day 4: I'm still in a lot of pain. Barely getting enough liquid/calories/protein in. Yesterday I pushed myself and managed to get in about 220 calories and 40 grams of protein, but probably only about 20 ounces of water on top of that. I'm peeing, so I'm not super worried about being overly dehydrated. This morning I'm having bad waves of pain. Different from other days. And this is probably way TMI, but is it normal to not have a BM 4 days after surgery? I figure it's because I haven't really had any food? I'm going to be emailing my doctor's office this am too, but interested as always in hearing what all of you say! -
I understand tmi but I had that happen while at work and know what you mean. I ended up waddling around work after spending 20 min in the bathroom. Finally after walking around it helped with that particular moment. However, to prevent it going forward, definitely up the liquids it made all the difference.

My weight was right on the line between 39 & 40. If I'm a little constipated (TMI sorry) its 41. If I'm "cleaned out" it's 39. The two days before my appointment I ate sushi, salty foods, etc so id retain water and weight. And my BMI they documented at 40.9. Beautifulnewme is right - Gotta do what you gotta do.
