I didn't have one for about 4 days, but I had HORRIBLE post-op gas from them swelling my stomach up. It was so bad, that I could not take a deep breath or sit up straight for 2 days. About day 3 that gas started breaking loose and I started tootin (TMI sorry) and I started feeling better, but on day 4, I got HORRIBLE diahrreha and had it for a week. I still get it about a couple time a month, had it today as a matter of fact, and like the above poster stated, it is green when it happens!! I only have a BM now about 5-6 times a month anymore, which was really hard for me to accept in the beginning, but now at 6 months out, I am cool with it. Kelly

I also had surgery on the 17th, and had my first bowel movement on the 19th. It's odd though - very watery and kind of a dark green color (TMI sorry) Last year I had open surgery to have my ovaries removed and I think it was almost a week before I could go. Definitely talk to your doctor if you're concerned though, maybe he can give you some suggestions or medication.

Thank you all for your support. I appreciate it. I thought that we were stronger than that. I had suspicion that she was self-absorbed. I was the supporter. I helped her graduate college and did the sleeve research. When I got home (warning....>TMI moment approaching) from the hospital on Saturday night all she asked me was when I can return to work and can I still have intercourse now. I was very pissed but so weak I couldn't mount any response. In my head I was disgusted with her. Now there wasn't or shouldn't have been a drop in income as I worked twice as many hours prior to surgery to compensate for being out the two weeks I was. The surgeon said wait a few weeks for intimacy and she was there. I just had major surgery and she's being awfully selfish. Now when her time comes I am supposed to be a freaking support system. Why? I'm not getting anything from her that I need. If there were issues before my surgery I sure wish she'd have said something. This stress isn't very helpful...

weird bowel issues ... kinda concerned
Sunny702 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First let me give my apology in advance because this is TMI ... I'm embarressed to even posting this. However I reaaalllyyy want/ need to know if this has happened to anyone else. I normally go 2-3 times per week if that, this is all my life. However the past week & a 1/2 I've been going almost every day ... sometimes 2x's per day. This in itself is weird to me. Then add in the fact that its a weird green color and a very small amount each time. Then yesterday & today there was a little bit of blood. I'm still looking for a job so I don't have insurance right now. However I'm considering going to the Dr. and praying he doesn't have to run too many tests. :-( This is the first time in my life that I have had to even think about "if" I was going to go to the Dr. I'm used to being able to just go to the Dr. whenever I need to. This SUUUUUUCKS!!! Has this issue happened to anyone else??? -
a little crude, but here goes: I'm no longer a vomit virgin!
k__ posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, I feel like a true initiate now. Got a little too complacent, I guess. What with being in the mushies stage and having no trouble whatsoever with tuna salad, egg salad, chopped liver, unblended lentil Soup and the like, I thought I give some lovely fresh king salmon a whirl. Maybe not a mistake in itself, but maybe I was a little too nonchalant when I actually ate it? There it was, a lovely little 4 oz. chunk of filet. I cooked it nicely seasoned with salt, pepper and dill, in a little foil envelope in the oven. Came out looking delish as could be. Squeezed a little fresh lemon juice on it. Got busy. I maybe got down somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 oz., when - oops- the most recent mouthful stuck. Hard. Ow. Pressure continued to build in my esophagus until - kabloouie! - up came some of it. Not all. Not even most. A token amount. Pressure continued to build. And, voila! Now I truly know what "the foamies" are! I must take a moment to say that I've always thought I had a stomach of steel. I've rarely experienced upset stomach and I can't remember the last time I vomited. But at this point, I would have given anything to just have one good heave-ho and have it be over. But not to be. At one point I actually had to put my finger down my throat to get some action that might lead to relief. When my stomach gets hold of food, it is not going to give it back without a serious struggle. It took a good hour from the time the food first got stuck to when something "worthwhile" finally made it's way from my poor sleeve to the toilet bowl. Anyway, I know for some of you this might be TMI, and to those my apologies. I read here that just about everyone ends up experiencing this in some fashion, so I thought I'd document it. A lesson learned. I feel okay as I'm writing this, about 2-1/2 hours from when the episode started. My daughter got quite frightened and started to cry while it was happening and thought I might have to go back to Mexico. My son reassured her that what I was experiencing was normal, but he was worried too, I could tell. I know they won't be comfortable until I tell them I feel just fine tomorrow morning. Anyhoo... I just hope I can be in the moment enough going forward to never have THAT happen again! I'm looking forward to a day of greek yogurt and smooth Soups tomorrow, to be sure! -

Some of this may be TMI for folks but thought i'd put it out there Got to the hospital on 10/11 surgery was at 7:25 on the dot and at 11:30 am I was in recovery not feeling a thing the doctor calle my daughter to let her know how I was doing, I had made the decision that I wasn't going to let anyone know in my family which I have stuck too its been hard because I'm excited to see the changes. any how on to the way i'm feeling- by 2 pm on Tuesday my heart was pounding I was not doing well, I ended up getting two blood transfusions, way to many pin sticks my orginal IV went bad by the beginning of night one so they had to fight to find another place for a new one- I have so many black and blues on my arms that I look like a needle junkie, finally they had someone from cardiac care come up and put a new IV in thank god I was in tears and it was 2 am. Lots of pills to help with my heart, way to many blood draws to make sure it was all going ok, today I'm home and resting. but I have the dreaded drain still in and it will be with me for 3 weeks it freaks me out big time trying to log the liquid and keep it drained I knew I wasn't a nurse for a reason. LOL I was suppose to go back to work next tuesday but due to complications there was no way he would release me so now I'm off until 10/25 when i see him and than maybe one week past that if he doesn't feel i'm doing well enough. I'm fustrated and I've certainly had the talk with myself along the lines of WHAT TO HELL DID I DO THIS FOR? but still hoping it will work out after a few weeks but right now WOW was I stupid for having this surgery, it was much easier having the band surgery.. in and out and back to work by day 3.. Well I'm off everyone i hope those that are on their way or have been sleeved have a much easier time of it best of luck to you all. B002011

A little TMI but here we go. Day 7-17 Post op I had my monthly. Then for a few days I had no bleeding or anything. Anyways the past few days I have been noticing blood when I wipe I am a month post op now. Last night I went to qipe and there was a lot of blood, as much as I would have during my monthly. I have also been sore in my abdomen between my large incision and belly button and have been feeling unwell overall. I dont have a doctor so it would pretty much be hospital or walk in clinic. I was also out of country for the operation, so my surgeon cant really help me. Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Dating, after MANY years off the market, and sex
barbie1978 replied to Cota129's topic in Singles Forum
i just had this happen to me a few weeks ago....stayed off the market just for my own reasons...now i'm 2 years post op, moved to a new city (and state) and met someone who i click with SO WELL...and pretty much immediately....so not only did i have to get used to him thinking im HOT (yes, he thinks i'm hot..and he likes my ass...lmao i'm SO not used to that...i was always the 'girl with such a pretty face"), but we fooled around after only a few dates...i remember calling my cousin to ask her how to get over my body issues, but the date happened before i talked to her..and you know what? He didn't seem to mind one single bit. Sorry if this is TMI for anyone...but that night we actually slept all snuggled up....completely naked (omg still can't believe i was comfortable with that)....BODY ISSUES OVER...really quick. Do i still have them? Sure..you're going to for awhile...but i just keep telling myself, if HE doesns't care, why should i? Try not to stress about it too much....i'm WORKING on that now...but really, if when it happens he doesn't seem to be phased by it, you shouldn't either! -
Mirilax is great but you shouldn't take it daily-per my doctor.. I have taken it to get the relief to soften but ...(TMI) if it has been awhile you are going to be hard until that is passed then it will get it sofer.. Afterward I take 1 tablespoon of benefiber twice a day. I mix it with my protein shake or with water or anything.

Hi All: Banded the end of July and have been having a few stuck episodes without any fill. First one at my home with my family and it passed in about 20 minutes......I did have white frothy slime come up (sorry for TMI). After that felt fine and was very careful. Last week went to Vegas with friends and first 2 days did well eating with others and choosing carefully what to eat. Monday a.m. went to late breakfast and ordered scrambled eggs with bacon. Wrong Choice for me!!! After 2 bites I felt like I had something stuck. Went to ladies room and tried to get it up. Nothing seemed to help. Could not get even water down. Could not relieve it no matter what I tried: papaya pills, gas X strips, tums, etc. After 12 hours of being very uncomfortable...still not being able to sip even water we went to the ER in Vegas. What an experience. Was there 5 1/2 hours. Scan showed band did not slip (thank God) but my esophogus was badly dilated. Said I needed a endoscope but could wait till I got home. They gave me IV so as not to dehydrate. Went home the next day on doctors orders. Finally after about 24 hours of this episode I was able to sip water again! Pain subsided but I still feel very irritated in my throat when I drink. My lapband doctor advised only liquids for the next 24 hours. That is where I am today. Has anyone else ever had an experience like this. I hope not. Really hope what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas......LOL

Sept 2011 bandsters
BeckyJane replied to WannaBeSlimNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All of your comments are really helping me to stay focused and not to stress over the little pangs and setbacks. Thank you! I see my family doctor tomorrow for a three week after surgery check up. My first fill is Oct. 26 and until then I'm on pureed foods and eating about 700 calories a day. If I overdo it, I know because the incision for my port starts hurting. I use it as a gauge to when I need to stop and rest. Today I went for a 35 minute walk in the beautiful IL fall and had no pain. Yes! For the most part, I am not feeling the hunger between meals and can stick to the suggested amounts without a problem [2-3 oz. meat, 1/2 c veggie, and/or 1/2 c. fruit with tofu pudding and kefir smoothies] and am getting enough protein and fluids. I am still taking Tylenol morning and night - junior chewables - because i find I sleep better and get moving faster in the morning. My only real problem is feeling light headed or dizzy when I stand up - I think I will talk to my doctor about whether it is blood sugar dips or maybe blood pressure lows - and see if any meds can be adjusted. My doctor/nut are pretty strict about no carbs - no bread, potatoes, corn peas, etc. and no fresh fruits or veggies during the healing time. I really want a fresh apple! I'm wearing an outfit today that I couldn't wear last fall - and it feels good to know that I've lost enough weight to be able to move down a size or two. And my bras are very uncomfortable - either because of the incisions or because they don't fit anymore - but I really hate to spend money right now on clothes. Bras are NOT something to find at resale shops! I guess i will have to go out and get at least one I can wear! [sorry to the guys for TMI] Sitting at the computer is still painful after an hour, so I better get off and go upstairs into the recliner and rest! Remember that the Lap-Band is NOT the only answer - it is a tool! And as our bodies are healing, the band is not yet working to its optimum. We just have to work thru this 6 weeks until the healing is done adn the band can be fine-tuned to do the work it was designed to do. Eat what is healthy, safe and good for you - it is only a month more! [i'm saying this to myself you understand!] -
So those who have read my posts know of my obsession with the scale and my fears of losing sooooo slowly. So since I was giving myself ulcers worrying about my weight and on / off the scale 10x's a day I have FORCED myself (it's been a struggle) to ONLY get on the scale on Saturday mornings. So... I started that 9/17/11 and I've consistently lost 4lbs each week. So I've been a pretty happy camper. Then ... today ... 1lb down. Yes ... I'm happy it was a minus instead of a gain however .... it's missing the other 3lbs. lol I got on the scale like 5x's in a row just to see if it was going to change. LOL The GOOD thing is that I've already been thinking about what I've done differntly in the past week and I see a LOT of opportunities for improvement. #1 ... Protein, Protein, Protein (the GOOD kind). As I type this I'm forcing down a 30g premeire Protein shake. Mmmm Mmmm goood . I've been eating breaded chicken nuggets, a tablespoon of mashed or a few noodles with my protein. I need to get back to the lean and mean Proteins. No breading just plain old chicken or fish. #2 ... Last week was a toughy I went through a break up that was looong overdue but still hurts. Which led me to Pillsbury Sweet Moments, Bite Sized Brownie Bites .... Now that I think about it ... my ex purchased those for me!! I think it was a secret attempt to get me to gain weight as his parting gift ... LMAO. Anywho ... I called myself "rationing" them out and led myself to believe they weren't really that bad because I wasn't eating an entire serving size. NUT FACTS: 3 pieces (serving) ... I would only eat 2 pieces! LOL Calories (per serv) 180 , Carb 25g, Sugar 19g , Protein 2 g. I was eating 2 per day since Sunday soooo let's just say I got my fair share! I can't bring myself to throw away good chocolate so ... I'm going to let my daughter take them to school with her on Monday. I'm confident NONE will return. lol In addition to that he cooked a HUGE pan of lasagna last week also. Bad, Bad, Baaad. It was just a rough food week all the way around. #3 Not much movement barely any walking and only 1 day at the gym. I did a hot hula fitness class that I will go back and try again. #4 Barely any sleep and stressing out because I'm STILL looking for a new job. I have to force myself to turn my mind off to get some sleep. My daughter has to be at the bus stop at 5:49am so I have to get up at 4ish to make sure she's up and getting ready ... then take her to the bus stop. I usually go to bed after midnight (if I'm lucky). The bus stop isn't too far so sometimes we walk (if we leave on time). So I do get a bit of exercise then. Then when I get home I'm so tired I lay back down until 10-12pm which throws my whole eating cycle off because when I get up I don't really eat. I might eat for the first time around 1pm. #5 Plus Aunt Flo made a visit. TMI SOOORRRYY. lol However, this is actually a PLUS because as I gained weight over the years I was very very irregular. Prior to me gaining all the weight I was like clockwork every month. Well ... since my surgery and losing 37lbs (including pre op diet) I'm getting back to regular again!! :-) So ... next week I WILL do better. I'm going to the grocery store this weekend and get more of my fave FF cottage cheese along with other GOOD proteins. I'm going to make it my mission to move my butt more in the exercise portion of things. I'm going to "try" to stop stressing about the lack of employment opportunities here in wonderful Las Vegas. You'd think that if studies show less than 20% of Nevada residents have a Bachelors and I have that plus I'm currently working on my MBA there would be no WAY I wouldn't have a job by now!! I digress ... sorry. Moving on ... I'm going to STOP thinking the "what if's" pertaining to my ex. I'm going to stop watching Say Yes to the Dress, Four Weddings, and A Baby Story every freaking day! Last but not least I'm giong to stop beating myself up about everything that I'm NOT doing and focus on the POSITIVES in my life! Thanks all for letting me vent. Hope everyone else had a MUCH better week!

Hi Erika 78, one week and on pureed foods, go girl go. I had to wait until week three or day 15. Anyways, that happened to me too. I was helping my hunny clean up, and got carried away. And I was in horrible pain, but in do time you will be feeling great. I had my procedure on the 16th of Sept. So far I am in love with my band and my weight loss. With the burping, I know it could feel nasty, but girl let it out. It is good to let it out, that gas is no joke. I burp and pass gas so often, TMI. Lol. But it is true, and I just let it out. Congrats on the 16, enjoy releasing the weight. Chrissy -
I am having my surgery in just a few days (eek!) and I have a question about diarrhea. Did anyone have it post surgery? I will be traveling home on an airplane 3 days after my surgery and am so scared it will be a problem!

I've been working out fr a while in my t-shirt and sweatpants. I feel like I finally need to buy some serious workout clothes. Sorry this might be TMI - I can't stand the jiggling and slapping sounds my loose skin makes while I am jumping around. I feel like I need something to hold it all in. Any suggestions what you wear while you are working out? and where to get them?

Things I can't wait to do!
GetInMyBelly replied to Fusilli66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TMI, but I know some can relate to these: I look forward to being able to easily wipe my butt :0/ I'd like to not get out of breath doing the simplest tasks, like putting socks on. I can't wait to actually want to put more effort In my appearance and enjoy looking in the mirror. I can't wait to have enough guts to actually go on a date. -
This is definitely TMI but I am 4 days post op and have not pooped. I feel really stupid asking this question, but when do you poop again? Not during the clear liquid stage? I know it makes sense because I am not eating solids, but still...I need to know...thanks...I really am not as stupid as this post makes me sound! Lol

TMI but I need to know if this is something I should be worried about.
Mango replied to GonnaLoseIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's another TMI question. Surgery was Wednesday. Today is Sunday. I haven't pooped yet. I haven't eaten so that makes sense but I need someone else to chime in. -
TMI but I need to know if this is something I should be worried about.
GonnaLoseIt posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I apologize for the TMI but I have an irregular menstral cycle. Typically it is 38 days. 4-5 days post surgery my monthly came, but it was a good 2 weeks early. I was told it could just be from stress of surgery and I had pnuemonia but I am still bleeding 11 days later. I have never bled for more then 7 days. The blood is partially still bright red and there was alot of clotting today.... Could this just be stress? Or should I be worried that I have had some sort of complication? -
10 days post op is this all normal?
Bandedlaura posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I have been reading these forums for weeks and this is my first post. I have a few "is this normal" questions. If anyone can help, I would so appreciate it!! 1. Gas- I did not have shoulder pain like most, but I seem to still have gas. I wake up in the morning fine, but as the day progresses, I get bloated and gassy again. Is it something I am eating? I am only on liquids. 2. From what I understand, I have no restriction. How come when I drink, I sometimes feel pain in my chest as if I have swallowed to much? 3. This might be TMI, but did anyone have a problem with diarrhea at this stage? I was banded on 9/23. I guess I am in this bandster hell. I am feeling better now, but was seriously having bandster remorse the first week. The gas, the discomfort, the hunger, ugh! Will I ever feel completely normal? -
Supermom: Thank you so much for your input. It makes me feel a little better with my progress. My hair has also been falling out like crazy and I have been taking Biotin since my second month. I haven't noticed any changes in the hair loss. I still like you, have hair falling out all over the place. Maybe I should also increase my Protein intake and incorporate protein shakes again into my daily meal plans to up my protein intake to more than 70. I believe I have been averaging about 60 grams of protein. I haven't noticed any problems with my energy levels. I am actually a whole lot more active now and I get up so refreshed in the morning with the exception of course of PMS! Which is also horrible for me because sometimes I get it for weeks!!! It had regulated a bit the first three months but now I've been on it for almost the entire month which sucks! But I am used to this. It's my hormone imbalance. That's why I am ALWAYS on Iron pills. Which brings me to another subject... constipation (TMI? lol) I haven't been going to the bathroom regularly. There have been weeks where I would go 5 days without going. I know it could be because of the Iron I am taking but I really can't stop taking that. If I go more than 5 days I have to drink something to help it along. My scale is actually consistant in a way, being that I would randomly lose about 7 pounds but then I would stall up and down near each round number. For example my last weight I was 232. I fluctuate from there up and down 2-3 pounds. Like I would go up to 235 then back down to 230 and up to 232 again and back down to 230 eventually I would drop to 222 in one week and I know the same thing will happen. As it happened in the 260's 250's , 240's and now nearing the 230 mark. In August I noticed I didn't lose a pound but in Sept. I lost 10-12 pounds so far depending on the friendliness of the scale. Thanks again for your encouragement! And I am glad to see you are doing really well too! Keep it up! Coops: Thank you for the support! sleeve 4 me: Thanks for you support, and my Vitamins are always in my mouth right on schedule! I know I have slacked on the protein here and there but I usually get back on track with them. Weekends are especially tough for me to keep my meal plans since I am super busy but during the week i am right on track.

Sept 2011 bandsters
bromo replied to WannaBeSlimNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can see a change in my face as well. Not quite as round as it was. I am down about 23 pounds since the beginning of my preop diet, Sept 1. That is a lot of weight to lose in one month!! I am having all kinds of NSVs. Back in jeans for the first time in forever. I had refused to buy any larger AGAIN after ridding myself of the 24s and above the last time I lost it. So I just had to wait to get back in my 22s that I outgrew this time last year. My shirts that were tight are beginning to get a bit too lose as well. I love this part of losing weight. Also, I am finding it easier to shower and can reach parts of myself that had needed assistance. I may just retire the back brush in a few more pounds. that may be TMI, but it is a real NSV in my book.
