    Itty bitty bites

Yes, I was the same way. Took me a half hour to down a yogurt, i dipped the spoon in sideways and just licked off what stuck to the sides. At 2+ months out I can take pretty normal size bites, however I still need to CHEW CHEW CHEW and swallow some then all the food. It's probably not a smart thing to do but the chewing and partial swallowing are second nature to me now. BEFORE surgery I would hardly chew at all and wolf down my food like a ravenous dog.

  4. So, I was sleeved on 5/15. Today, I have had scrambled eggs and yogurt and my stomach has not been happy. Had a little puking. A bit of diarrhea. I have had both foods earlier, but not the same reaction. I may just stick to the yogurt for now. Maybe eggs are too harsh. Who knows? Anyone else feel like this is a guessing game?

    Suggestions on what to eat?

Being dehydrated can make you nauseated. Up your Fluid intake pronto. Are you taking an acid reducer? Early post-op I had a very picky tummy. No dairy except Fat Free Greek Yougurt, no acidic foods, and no spice. No bread, Pasta, or grain. I ate lunch meat, moist chicken, greek yogurt, soy milk, anderson split pea Soup (most other cream Soups bothered me) and GNC Gold Standard whey Protein in vanilla, unjury Chicken Soup protein. I had the occasional saltine cracker. For veggies, I ate a bite of mild veggies, such as zucchini or carrots. Only fruit I could eat was applesauce, bananna, and watermelon. I recommend calling your doc ASAP if you can't up your fluid intake. Lynda

    Liquid phase did yu cheat

I've added new foods as I could tolerate them. Yogurt, Jello, etc in week one, week 2 mushy foods, and now in the 3rd week I am eating a few solid foods but nothing too extreme. I learned what I couldn't tolerate pretty fast because it would make me feel bad. There's a lot of variation between on Dr and another. I think the trick is to take it slowly and add things one at a time and remember that the eating habits you develop post op are the ones that will follow you from now on and will dictate your weight loss and success.

    What's for Breakfast?

I had a fat free yogurt and now a liquid Protein drink! Now I will drink lots of Water all the way to lunch time! I keep on under estimating the power of water, and I am really trying to step it up! It curbs my hunger and keeps me on track!
  10. I went back to work 5 days post op. I still struggle to get Water in, mostly because i get distracted and forget. I usually have a fairlife "shake" for Breakfast, oikos yogurt or cheese/meat or leftovers for lunch, cheese/protein shake for snack. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16
  11. I'm only on mushies but I tend to do yogurt for Breakfast around 8 Morning snack of string cheese around 10 and lunch at 12 usually left over dinner. I do an afternoon snack at 3 or dinner at 4 and an evening snack at 8. Sent from my SCH-I545 using the BariatricPal App

    10th day

Nights pre op were my worst. I would get raw veggies and Greek yogurt mixed with ranch dressing dry mix and survived. I did cheat a few times
  13. I put a scoop of vanilla body fortress in my morning coffee, then get my remaining protein via greek yogurt, cheese, and meat. If there is room left in the caloric tank I add in fruits and veggies. Or some kind of small indulgence like chocolate.

    10days Post-Op

I can relate to things not tasting the same and the lack of energy. I am having a hard time with the artificial sweeteners in the protein drinks. I am using Greek yogurt as my main source of protein now. You will get through this your body needs time to adjust to its new lifestyle. Your mind wants it yesterday, your body will catch up. Stay strong Sam!
  15. I'm not suppose to start pureed foods until next week. The yogurt and protein shakes have helped. I did sneak in some pureed carrots. Bought baby food today.

    Sleeved 11/7, Question?

I lived on yogurt and scrambled eggs. Also, canned tuna crumbled very fine with mayo. There was no way I could stomach pureed meat. Bleck!

    Protein & Water Concerns

Hi Everyone! I'm new here. Joined back in August 2015 after my initial consultation with my surgeon. My surgery date was November 23, 2015. Been lurking awhile, but this is my first post. All in all, I think I'm doing pretty well. I've lost 61lbs. I tolerate most foods well. I haven't experienced much nausea or vomiting (that only happened once thankfully!). I do have some concerns and I'm hoping the lovely people here can offer some tips. I feel like my life revolves around food now. I feel like I'm constantly eating all day to get my required Protein in (my doctor recommends 65-80 grams per day). Water is a whole other beast (64oz). It seems I just don't have the space for the volume of food and water necessary to meet these requirements. I know once we are able to eat solid foods, we should be getting most of our Proteins that way. I do okay maybe half the week and the other half I'm still using shakes to supplement. Should I not be doing that? I almost feel like Protein Shakes will be something that's part of my life forever, but there's a lot of people who disagree with that feeling. While I'm not vegan or vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination, I CANNOT just eat meat and nothing else all day long. I eat veggies and dairy products as well. I don't eat much fruit due to the sugar content. If I have any at all it's blended in a shake or 1/2 a teaspoon is added to my Greek yogurt to take the tang out. To make matters all the more awesome, I was never a big water drinker. If I had 8 cups of water in a month, that was a lot. So to go from that to 8 cups PER DAY is really difficult for me. I get maybe half. My doctor is aware and it's something I'm working on. He'd like me to get it increased, and quickly at that. So. Any tips to ensure I get as much protein packed into a single meal WITHOUT using shakes? Or is it okay to supplement with them as long as I need to? Tips for water consumption would be awesome, too. Thanks for reading! Sorry if I rambled

    Getting frustrated

what about yogurt, cream of wheat, oatmeal, and most of all protein shakes. You probably are getting enough protein if you drink 1 and 1/2 isopures a day
  21. I am 7 days post op and honestly the day of surgery was the worst for me. The gas pains in my back and chest were awful and I dry heaved twice I believe. But by the next day I was noticeably feeling MUCH better. And YES, walking does make a HUGE difference! Days following the surgery consisted of sipping, walking, resting and not at all being hungry. Which was very weird to not be hungry. By day 6 though, I do believe I was feeling true hunger pains and it was the day to start full liquids anyways so I had a little bit of greek yogurt and it went away. So all in all, I think i was one the lucky ones that really didn't have too many issues at all after surgery and continue to not really have any issues. This was the best decisions of my life. I've lost 17 lbs so far from preop & postop so I'm quite happy with that. Good luck!

    vomiting

Green Beans are horrible. I cannot tolerate them not even if they are boiled for 1/2 hour. I even tried canned. NO WAY. I also tried fish in the food processor with egg and cooked carrots. Can't do it either. I can only eat yogurt, oatmeal and apple sauce. Everything else I try one or two bites and have to stop. I top my 1/4 cup meal with yogurt. I have to eat something. I figure two bites and then yogurt is better then nothing. I find I throw up mucus. It's like my pouch fills up with it when I eat solid food (chewed to death mind you). It's like a reaction to the food.

    Greetings from Oregon

I was able to have the Lap Banding done on 4/19 and am doing well...sore and stiff, but not as painful as yesterday. I am able to get all the fluids down and protein (drink 2 protein shakes from Costco with 30gm EACH and 11 oz each)...I feel comfortable eating a whole package of cream of wheat, a 6 oz yogurt, etc so don't feel any restriction or swelling restriction yet....I'm trying to limit the quantity so I don't stretch out the pouch....my surgeon keeps on the "slip and slide" yogurt, puddings, all liquids, cream soups, etc only for the first week and then advances to "regular" foods and I'm afraid I'll stretch the pouch out before my first fill on May 18. No nausea at all, and am not really hungry. Let me know how you're doing. Carol:thumbup:
