I hope this isn't TMI but I am concerned about it...I used to be the typical lady who had to use the restroom quite frequently. Since my surgery, I noticed that my bladder has been like cast iron. I only void 2 or 3 times a day. I am getting in at least 40 to 60 oz of water and other fluids every day. Sometimes I feel thirsty and sometimes not. I have had kidney infections in the past and they never could figure out why. I don't want to hurt my self but am actually enjoying not having to take all those bathroom breaks. Any thoughts?? Thank you so much!!, Laura

Day after surgery
ldteacher03 replied to DarleneRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my band yesterday too and had noticed the same thing. TMI alert: I have been sitting further back on the potty to help speed things along. I keep drinking and walking around the house as much as I can, trying to get back to normal. -
I am having my surgery in just a few days (eek!) and I have a question about diarrhea. Did anyone have it post surgery? I will be traveling home on an airplane 3 days after my surgery and am so scared it will be a problem!

I went to the surgeon's office friday and just cried. I told them i'm so sick of being so tried i can barely function. I'm normally perky to the point of nausea! the Nut told me i looked very pale and tired..gee thanks! My 2 biggest complaints were tiredness and the (now 27 day) menstrual cycle...(sorry TMI) The GYN's office took a week to call me back (after i called 3 times) to tell me they wanted to put me on an antibiotic since i must have an infection....nope just got off a course of antibiotics for a REAL infection in my incision site..but noone asked me. She said she'd check with the doc again and call me back. At 3pm on fridays they shut off their phones and your Out of luck till monday. My surgeons NP insisted i call the "doc on call" and demand they do something after a week of no information. I did and they have put me on birthcontrol (3 a day initially for 3 days then 2 a day for 3 days then one till the end of the pack). So i ask the nut if i was eating enough Protein, low carbs, exercising ok and what not...she insisted i was doing everyhting to the T perfect....yet not lost any weight since 9 days after surgery (this friday it will be one month since surgery). They seem to think that this 27 day cycle is holding back my weight loss...GREAT! They drew bloodwork and called me today to tell me I have low Iron leverls ( shocker...) and upped my iron to double what i was taking and increase my B12 to 4 times a week form 1 time a week and keep up the hard work..... i'm frustrated with my body...knowing how angry it is with the sleeve, the hernia repair and the cycle form hell.....but it's got to start giving up the weight soon ( i am praying)! Frustration...frustrations...frustrations...but all i can do at this point is keep on keeping on.... sorry i guess this turned into a HUGE rant and i should have posted this to rants...but i guess i'm a lucky person compared to people with leaks and major health concerns...got to keep the positive thoughts going! Help! I don't know what my new tummy is trying to tell me
Jenny A. posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone! So I was sleeved last Thursday and am about 4 days out. At first, I didn't want anything except liquids and the surgeon said that was fine. But the last day and a half or so, my tummy's been making these weird rumbly sounds and it feels like a combination of gas/hunger pain. I tried expelling some gas (sorry for the tmi!) but it was still doing it. So then I tried eating a bit of a small, mashed up turkey meatball (low fat high Protein ). I made it about 3 tiny bites before my stomach shot sharp pains at me telling me it didn't want anymore. How do I communicate with my new stomach? Was I hungry? Is it just gas? Is it just talking to me? Any experienced sleevers willing to give me some advice on how to understand my sleeve? -
Diarrhea (Sorry For This But I Need To Know!)
LisaBC posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, I have to ask this just so I know if it's normal or not. I am 9 days post-op and on a liquid diet for 3 weeks (just started Soups today) and have been experiencing diarrhea since surgery. Is this normal? will it go away? Like I said, sorry for the TMI topic, but I am getting a bit worried and don't want to get dehydrated. Thanks! Lisa -

Thanks for the tips. The problem was solved without any chemical aid or special effort. I was worried for nothing. I hope it wasn't TMI. -
Almost 11 Months Out From Gastric Sleeve Surgery
ATLGirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, I know I have been out of pocket for a little while. I needed to get away for a few months and refocus myself on why I did the surgery. I was becoming a very bitter person by comparing myself to others. Along the way on this weightloss journey become more about vanity and less about health. And that is so not me. I must say, I fall in love with myself a little more each day. I am embracing my newly found curves. Coming to an understaning with my stretch marks, and learning to love how much I can eat. I am almost 11 months out and as I read back over my old post, I can't help but to smile. How scared I was about never reaching ONEderland. My mourning over food. My worries that my husband would leave me if I got too small. And my fear about eating around others. Somethings that I have can now report on: 1- My goal was to get to 199 by Thanksgiving (I know I am a slow loser and paced my goals as such). I am happy to report I am 194. 2. I can eat a lot more around people. I don't know how my tummy knows, but I just can. 3. Food and calories are not the enemy. I honesty lose more when I anm not counting every calorie my mouth or keeping myself from slices of heaven. Its all about balance. 3. Still don't LOVE working out, but you gotta do what you gotta do. 4. I still don't take my Vitamins like I should (I am working on this). I take them 3-4 times a week and its mainly a multi (a good multi) 5. Carbs are not a sin. There are some good ones. 6. shakes are still NOT my friend. Every now and then in a pinch I will have one and I struggle to get them down every time. 7. My goal weight is just a number. I am actually looking to even out in about 20 more pounds. I am moving past the number and embracing how I feel. 8. Inches lost are just as important as weightloss. 9. But inches lost in the waist (pants size) don't correlate with weight. (I am a size 16 still after almost 90 pounds of fat being gone). 10. I still have a very hard time going to the bathroom (TMI?). I don't know what it is. I know if I went more, my weightloss would be better. But its a plus if I can go twice a week. Well that's it for me. I would love to hear from you all who have been with me for almost a year now. I am still hoping to reach my goal of 100 pounds lost by 1 year out. Its a goal, not the end all be all. Love ya lots! -
Yep... I had to look... The TMI warning was too much to resist.. And I got exactly what I deserved...

After eating too fast
Rootman replied to FishingNurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nose runs like a faucet after and DURING meals, it always has but seems to be WORSE since the sleeve. TMI ALERT: Extremely watery stuff, not snot per-se. -
First off, i apologize if this turns into TMI. But if I cant be real here where can I be real at? So I woke up in recovery with the left shoulder pain. It comes and goes. Its bearable. I can deal with it. The barium swallow stuff gave me baaaaad diarreha (sp?). Like bad. I talked to my drs nurse about some other stuff and she said it will fo away in a few days and I shouldnt be going more than 5 times per day and it shouldnt be like i have to run to the bathroom or im gonna go on myself. If either of the 2 apply I need to call the office. Ok, neither apply. I asked her aboit gas x which i have NOT taken. She told me NO it would not help. Yesterday I ate a popscicle and omg, i dont know what it did but my insides are gurgling and churning and screaming. They have not stopped. Its like an alien in there trying to escape. It kept me up a lot last night. I swore in my packet of info from my dr it said you can use gas x. I am gonna dig that paperwork out. The diarrhea is still there but getting better, not worse. Yet the gurgle gut is insane. I got up on the middle of the night and walked, nope, it did nothing. I go to the toilet thinkinf I have to go, nope. Is this type of gas normal? J Banded 9/22

What causes a weight GAIN post-surgery?
Papillon Princess replied to polyrose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Polly, Continue following all the post op instructions, I also gained weight right after (about 3-5 lbs the first week!). I was extremely bloated and having some regularity issues (sorry about the TMI). After about a week and a half to 2 weeks, I dropped a few pounds and it's continued since. Your body is trying to find normal again and is going through a lot. I was also crabby and not exactly happy right after (I'm not far into my journey either, I'm about 8.5 weeks post op at this point). You are doing nothing wrong! Right now is not a fun time and weight loss sometimes does not occur right away. A lot of people call this "bandster hell" until the first fill because many people get hungry between now and the first fill. Please, keep it up and continue following the instructions! Hopefully you'll be on full liquids soon and able to take in some Protein, that made me feel much better! The Protein shakes did make me pretty bloated but also made me feel a lot better and gave me some energy. You're still healing, don't worry about minimal weight loss or even a small gain at this point. The first month (for me at least) wasn't much fun, but I'm very happy with my decision now and you'll be there soon too. -
This might be tmi? I've tried everything but for the life of me, I can't get eating right. I've tried eating slow, tiny bites spaced out,,drinking and not drinking with my meal. I've even tried standing up and walking when eating. I can't digest food right. As soon as I'm done eating I get waves of nausea and then it feels like a bunch of belches will come up but it's liquid..if I let it out,,I'm gonna toss my cookies. This goes on for over an hour after I eat. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong or what I could do differently?

My right hip has resumed hurting at night when I sleep. I can sleep on my left side, but is this just a normal side effect of losing the fat covering the joint? TMI, but I now have a raging round of diarrhea. Still doing 70g of protein and 64oz of water a day. I've read here and there that some foods might cause it, so I've been avoiding plain eggs and eating a little more cheese to compensate. I had the same thing last week, but I think that was a tummy bug that's been going around, combined with antibiotics for a UTI. This time it's "different" from the last time. I'm trying not to be TOO gross here. If it's not calmed down by tomorrow afternoon, I'll make an appt with the doc, but just looking for some real world advice.

Can't get in the amount of water they want me to trying! And yes walking!! A lot may e to much bc my belly has been hurting! Like I've been to cape may zoo, grounds for sculpture, our closes lake, farm fairs that have been going on. Walking my neighborhood.. My g Kim inlaw said maybe its bc my bodys not use to something thicker and that my intestines and body and stuff has to get use to again and relearn how to digest it. Which sounds right bc I haven't been making any BM. Sorry for the TMI lol does that make any sense?? Lol I thought it did in a way...

Feb 11 surgery...nervous and excited! Buddies?
MN_Thin0211 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello All, I am getting my sleeve Feb 11 at 9 am! I have been lurking here for months, and I have learned so much! I want to say thanks to everyone for sharing and being so open and honest. I was hoping to reach out to someone who has a similar surgery date, or anyone who maybe wants to keep in touch and support each other in what seems to be a potentially difficult first few weeks. I am so proud to be able to soon sit on the loser's bench... Side question: I have a runny nose, itchy throat, no cough or fever. It came on Friday night and doesn't seem to be getting worse. Mucus is clear (sorry if TMI)...they wouldn't cancel for this, do you think! Thanks for reading! -

On day 4 I moved from jello and popcicles to potato soup and protein shakes. Ever since I had the soup my stomach HURTS! Not my "band" but like my stomach isn't used to the richness of the food or something and now everything i eat makes me have diarrhea. Has this happened to anyone else? I am starving and DO NOT want jello!!!! -
what can you eat, and what you cant eat

i had some pork ribs and boy oh boy lets just say i woke up to something warm and had to change my undies lol tmi. i dont know if its the bbq sauce or the rib but it had me running. -
I was banded Friday January 18 and so far, so good. I've been talking short walks, sticking to the liquids diet, and taking small sips/bites. I'm glad I've made this choice, but healing has been harder than I was expecting. I'm not sure if what I am feeling is gas pain or something else. Its this tight, squeezing feeling inside. Sometimes it happens after eating or drinking, and sometimes it happens for no apparent reason. It's quite uncomfortable but lasts only a few seconds. Maybe these are hunger pains in my new sore stomach? Other than these pains, I haven't had a bowel movement since before surgery. I feel like I maybe could but it hurts to push! Lol sorry if that's TMI

So I am sleeved as of Saturday by dr. Alvarez. Everything went fine and I am flying home today. Once they took the IV out on Sunday, I didn't take any pain meds for about 6 hours and was pretty miserable. I asked Jessica and she said they discouraged taking the pain meds unless you really need them. Yah - after 6 hours of no meds I decided I'm a wuss and really needed them. No point being completely miserable - I did have surgery after all. I will take them today since I am traveling home and try not to take them tomorrow. The gas pain and reflux were uncomfortable until yesterday (two days post op) but I've been taking the anti acid meds and it seems to help. I've been able to drink liquids albeit slowly. I just had some peppermint tea at the airport that was devine. I am going to try to tough it out the next four weeks. It's probably going to be hard. On clears for a week and then full for two more weeks. I'll weigh tomorrow although not optimistic. Very bloated and constipated. Tmi.

Oh Man, What A Morning!
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good thing....I reached 40 pounds lost this morning!! Yay!! However, all I can say is, DON'T GET CONSTIPATED. Whatever you do. Figure out how to get enough Fiber, Water, etc. I had the most horrific morning-- I thought I was going to break blood vessels in my head...(sorry if TMI- but it's part of life right?) Also, how's this for a coincidence- or is it? I had a horrible charley horse in the middle of the night- and unlike previous ones long ago, it was up to my thigh (calf and thigh!! yikes). Those were my biggest fear with the surgery. I remember ANY time I had lost lots of weight -so it's not related to surgery- but fast weight loss and more Protein. Obviously I need to up pottasium I guess (for cramps), water, and stool softener. What a last few hours!! Shwew!
