My first NSV I have been reading a lot of nsv in this tread and most of them are happening to me too, the one that really surprise me was this one, I was shopping yesturday and I always wants to buy color bracelets with matching earrings when I shop for my vacation stufs but the bracelets were always to small for me and I always tell my friend that those bracelets are made for skinny people only but yesturday I tried one that it look nice knowing that will not fit like always but IT DID and I start trying all of them and all fit, I was so happy and surprise that i called my husband to check how they look in my hand, It was my first time in years that I was able to purchase one of those bracelets!!!!!

I think another NSV is passing up a food that you know you either can't have or it's not good for you that you really truly want! I passed up something today that I really wanted but I didn't do it!

Three NSV's and One Thorn In My Side

My husband has benefitted from my WLS too. He's eating healthier, cut out a lot of carbs, and joined the gym 8 months ago with me. We go 6-7 times a week...... He's down 50 too. Congrats to you snd your hubby. May there be many more NSV's in your future!

Three NSV's and One Thorn In My Side

I had the hardest time finding exercise clothing when I first started exercising too. I had to settle for the Walmart stuff because I honestly couldn't find it anywhere else. Nike, Adidas and all those other brand names don't make big girl sizes. I just worked out in a Capri-type leggings and a tshirt. I thought I would make a killin if I came up with some kind of exercise line of clothing for women Congrats on the NSVs! Happy for ya
  5. I had three great NSV's today! The first: I was on second call and I generally never get called in but I did get called in around ten am today. I ran downstairs to get dressed and tried to decide what to throw on. I saw some old scrubs that I had recently gotten out of storage. I haven't fit in them for like four years. I put them on, expecting them to fit very snug like they did before I outgrew them, but they were actually loose and very comfy! Woot! The second: As some of you may know, my hubby, though he did not get a lapband, has changed his diet and started exercising along with me. He had lost a little bit before I got banded and so far has lost about 50 pounds. Today, I bought him 2 pairs of exercise shorts and 2 exercise shirts from the clearance rack at Macy's. So awesome that he fits in the normal guy section of clothes! Even more awesome, the total was $34! He used to have to go to the Big and Tall store where each item would have been $40! This is kinda his NSV, but since I like to buy him clothes every now and then, it's an NSV for my wallet too! The third: I was always such a slave to food convienience. Fast food. Carry out. I have really been cooking so much more! I noticed that the amount of groceries I buy for the two of us is so much less. Today, I did our weekly grocery shop with one of the small carts. Healthy food is sometimes more expensive, but when you're eating a lot less of it.....Plus, I still am not spending as much as I did on all of the convienient stuff. And then here's the thorn in my side: What is up? Does no one think that fat people want to exercise? I find it close to impossible to find women's plus size exercise clothing!! I live in fairly large city. This is ridiculous. It makes me angry. D**k's (the website censored this word, but it is the name of a sporting goods store) apparently only thinks skinny people are exercising. Lane Bryant might have a couple of jogging suits, but they're all hussied up with doily crap. They had some sort of track suit thing at macy's but it was not attractive. Target didn't have anything. WalMart's stuff was borderline Grandma lookin. Plus, I'm tall. I need length. As soon as I wash something, the legs draw up. I'm not crazy about online shopping because I'm so picky about the way things look on me, but I guess I'm going to have to try. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really want a pair of snug fitting, yoga type pants, black, that I could walk/run on the treadmill in. And I carry all of my weight on my tummy, so I'm still wearing like a 24 or a 3x. I might be very close to a 22 or 2x. Even, if I can find pants, it's hard to find sports bras, tight tanks to help hold the ladies down, and some sort of sporty sleeveless shirt to go over it all. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
  6. Hi all! Had a great NSV today. I'm moved to "severely obese" now rather than being "morbidly obese" thanks to my 4 pound weight loss this week! That's 80.4 pounds down so far in this journey! I've had to get new clothes because my old ones are just falling off. Great problems to have! HW 322 (March 2013) SW 278 (Dec 16, 2013) CW 241.6

    Guess what I can do!

I can reach down and touch my toes with absolutely no issue. Strain or soreness. This from a girl who 15 months ago could not even see her knees let alone her feet.....Exercising is already seeing results!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that's a NSV.....Yes me!!!!!!!!!

    NSV's!

On Valentine's Day my hubby and I took our boys to their favorite pizza place. Of course I was nervous about the temptations it would pose for me, but I decided to face them head on. The hostess walked us over to a BOOTH- my worst nightmare. I hesitated for a second or 2 staring at what seemed like a tight space. I nervously glanced at my husband who quickly gave me a nod of encouragement. So... I went for it and slid into the booth. YES, I said SLID! I ended up sitting between BOTH of my boys COMFORTABLY! It felt so awesome that I didn't give a second thought to eating what they were eating. I was absolutely fine with just a few bites of salad and a meatball while the guys ate bread, pizza, etcetera.
  9. man oh man after my GB surgery I had lower back pain like I've ever had so I went and got one of those wrap around heating thingamingy things and it went around me easily not just my waist but even my hips. iwas able to wear it all day comfortable like, it didn't curl up or anything. went to the doctor today for post op check. my surgeon apologize that none of my doctor's for the last 2 years didn't do anything about my GB. he said it was a big huge sick gallbladder. the swelling I had in my abdomen and my back pain at the waist are gone. he said there was so much free fluid in and around the gb. apparently I don't look sick anymore. lol. so this is sorta of a lesson to everyone out there. I had been complaining about pain for years. I even had a ultrasound a few years ago but because no stones were found my doctor shrugged it off and said I don't know. if you have pain something is wrong, especially if you can't diagnose why the pain is there. incisional pain you know what is causing the pain. so don't take I just don't know as a answer for something you know is wrong. I think I am going to another cardiologist now. I had all the tests because I kept going into atrial fib and than v tach and because my cardiac cath showed clean arteries I was told by the cardiologist "I don't know why your heart does what it does, it just does". and I excepted that. deal with the problem when it happens again. well I think not. and I lost 8lb this month and 10inches total. yeah!!!! new computer , dang I wish I knew how nice computers were. my old one was from 2006. lol. this thing is correcting my spelling . wow. and no I don't even have a iphone. I still have my fliptop phone.
  10. I am down 43lbs 211-168 in 3 months...day to day I struggle to see changes! My belly is not changing but everywhere else is, this is depressing bc while I am down a size or two I could be down more if I was proportionate! This leads me to feel like I'm stuck! I have been stalled for a few weeks losing very little(maybe 1-2lbs) but today I had an AHA moment when I saw this selfie! I have another 55lbs to lose but hurray for changes even if it's just my face
  11. Major NSV yesterday!! I was able to take off my wedding ring and band that I haven't been able to take off in 7 years. You'd think I would want to keep it off for awhile but I cleaned it and put it right back on.

Yes my wedding ring is starting to get loose. Have to have it resized when I get to my goal.

I had mine resized (bigger) a month before surgery. Dumb mistake! (If I lose them you think he might get me a bigger ROCK?) :)

    Eating Right While Traveling Internationally

I used to sit and watch tv while I chop because standing over the counter would hurt my back. Now I can stand and chop and cook to my heart's content without hurting. Yay NSVs! All of my friends are going to get so much fatter now from all the food I make for them lol.

    Four NSV's in One Day

Congrats. That's a lot of NSV's in one day - isn't it great!?!
  14. Yesterday, I went back for my six month visit to the biomedical research facility that is conducting a long term study on patients having lap band surgery. (Participating in the study is how I had my surgery and all follow up fills done for free.) My first NSV is that I lost seven inches around my waist. My second NSV is that my BP was 110/72. My third NSV was when I stopped on the way home to Dress Barn. I immediately walked in the store and turned to the left for the "Women's" sizes. A sales clerk approached me to ask if she could assist me. I said "No, I'm just looking around." She asked if I was shopping for myself or someone else. I responded, "For myself." She responded, "Mam, you should be shopping in the other half of the store, the "Misses" Department. Guess what? She was right! I fit in size LARGE. LARGE never felt so SMALL. My final NSV happened as I walked into the gym. Approaching the door was an old acquaintance. I greeted him and told him hello, but I could tell, he just politely responded back, but didn't try to make conversation. Halfway through my workout, he approached me and said he hadn't even recognized that it was even ME, since I lost so much work..... The OLD ME was unrecognizable!!!! Not a bad day!

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

I haven't seen the bacon bowls. I'm surprised I haven't because I usually don't sleep in and there's nothing on tv at 4 am other than infomercials. Lol. I see my nutritionist on Monday. I've only lost a few pounds these past 2 weeks but I have noticed the inches coming off. I can feel my forearm bone now. I can also wear the small bracelet for my fitbit flex. Yay! It made me feel good when I realized that today. I thought about selling the small bracelet on eBay when I first bought it because I thought I would never wear it. Good luck with your appointment Thursday! : ) I am down 34 pounds. I have a NSV!!! I am wearing my hubbys shorts! He is a stick and they are absolutely comfortable! I am so surprised that I am doing so well.

    NSV: New Underwear

I was JUST thinking about this today when I was folding my laundry. I was like "Wait...am I going to have to buy new underwear soon!?" Hahaha congrats on your nsv!
  18. This might be TMI...but we all get excited about going down a clothing size, right? I've just purchased the smallest underwear I've been able to wear since about age 9 and a whopping 3 sizes since my surgery. Women, we KNOW that's a big difference. Woo hoo!
  19. Wendy, Wendy, Wendy...have you not read posts about just this very thing? Of course you lost alot of weight on liquids. But you can't be afraid of food. And you can't obsess over the scale. I mean it....put it away. Just focus on eating well, portion control, and exercise. That's all it is. The weight will come off...give it some time. If I've said it once, I've said it a million times...you didn't gain it overnight, and you won't lose it that way either. Stop putting so much pressure on yourself. Follow your doctor's instructions, and don't look at that scale again for at least a month. Oh, and look for the NSVs...you'll find plenty, I guarantee it. Good luck!

    February 2014 Fitness Challeng

Good for you Butterpants!! That's an NSV for sure Today is the 10th, I will lift today, so I will have worked out 7 days already in February and 3 of those included cardio so I am well on my way to accomplishing my February fitness challenge - oh, and I did PULL UPS!! I had to have a buddy hoist my feet a little, but I still did them!
  21. Have to share my NSV today. I got into my old size 12 gap jeans today. I wore these before all the prednisone and kept them just in case someday may come. Well it's here and I'm so excited. I have to say thanks to Carolina girl for something she had said in a post about not getting discouraged when the scale isn't moving because we are still losing inches. This could not be more true!!! I haven't lost anymore but thought I would give it a try and I'm so glad...

      Jeanne14

Congratulations! Great job! Size 12 is such a milestone because it means you don't have to shop in plus size stores, you can go just about anywhere. That's one of the milestones I'm looking most forward to myself.

  22. Thanks all! I am glad I could inspire anyone. One tip I would say to everyone but especially those who have a lot to lose like I did- focus on the life style changes, making improvements to the non wt loss number issues! I could easily revert back to the bad habits of eating to comfort, over eating food and sweets especially if my wt loss stalls. Wt loss WILL STALL, it's the nature of the beast. So the nsv or non scale victories and changing life long habits are a much more emotionally satisfying focus and keeps you moving forward then scale obsession. Good luck all!
  23. I would like to start a thread that encourages long term vets to share their success patterns. It is an open discussion of strategies, NSVs and day to day habits that define your success in being able to maintain or even improve in terms of weight, health, activity or anything else connected to this journey. Life as a vet is where the real work happens so let's share in a way that motivates both new post ops for the future and current vets for the here and now. We have a whole new chapter in our lives to engage in positively as movers and shakers. Let this thread be a beacon of encouragement for all. We have a chance to make real positive differences in the lives of others we interact with.
