I was allowed to have yogurt watered down with a little milk. I also made sure that I varied my protein shakes. I had premier and unjury chocolate, syntrax nectar lemonade and fuzzy navel, and some others. I also had some millie's sipping broths to use as some of my liquid so that I coudl have some savory. sometimes I'd add unflavored protein powder - but I didn't love the taste.

Happy Holidays everyone. Just wanted you all to know I did end up losing 7 pounds after 14 days of hellish torture LOL. My doctor said my liver shrank a little but not a lot. He said it will continue to shrink as I lose weight. I was on 19 medications and he said that can sometimes have an effect on the shrinking... so now we know. Surgery went well and other than feeling like I did 100 situps I wouldn't really know I had surgery. No real after effects. I threw up once in the hospital when I took too many of my 19 meds at once but other than that no other issues. I'm back to drinking normally with no problem. Still no food yet, I have 8 more days to go to get to puree but I get milk and yogurt on Wed and I'm really looking forward to it. I think it will settle okay but will do small amounts at first. Thanks, everyone for being so nice and supportive! Love this group!

Ok, my diet is First 2 day: clear liquids including sf jello and popsicles and tea Day 2-9 protein drinks, yogurts, cream soups, sf pudding Day 10-16 pureed foods, applesauce consistency Day 17-30 soft mushy foods like ground meat, tuna, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs -
Ask your surgeon of course, but I was allowed blended bean and pea soups, cottage cheese, ricotta and greek yogurt.

Hey - I did say that! Another thing that works is a few swigs of chobani yogurt smoothies. Creamy, drinkable. Yum.

Vacation, birthdays,Bar mitzvahs, So I eat cake! Normally I guess anyone should feel like it's a terrible choice but I don't because: event/special occasion food; cake apparently doesn't cause dumping syndrome in me (but chicken and yogurt can so whatever) and it made me regular without the use of any psyllium or laxative teas. -
I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?

Liquid, puree, soft foods, then regular, but I have found it difficult eating "regular" foods. I revert back to eating a lot of soft foods.... Refried beans, yogurt, etc. I have the best success with those too. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

I had my pre-op diet a couple days ago and I'm allowed 2 protein shakes and 2 meals (60% lean protein, 40% non-starchy veg). What's your pre-op diet? This is my list for post-op weeks 1-2: Eggs FF refried beans Apple sauce (with unflavored protein powder) Chili (I'm going to mash the beans up so that it's more of a pureed consistency) Greek yogurt Ricotta Bake Pudding (with protein powder) Weeks 3-4 Sliced turkey Tilapia Soup Buffalo chicken dip That's what I have so far! -
Today my teaching team did Breakfast treats for the Christmas party. I skipped over bagels, muffins, breakfast pizza, French toast bake and instead had some Greek yogurt and a banana. Never in my life would I have thought I could have done that. No one questioned my choices and I was able to laugh and enjoy the party with everyone else, We are stronger then we think

Dec 17 Surgery two weeks only liquid

Crush up the Oxy and put it in some yogurt or applesauce. They gave me a gigantic horsepill of Potassium post-op and said I had to either break it into fourths to take it or crush it and put it in applesauce. They gave me Percs and I only took like 2 or 3 of them. Just had muscle pains and I found pain meds don't help with that. -
I don't wanna! lol. And physically can't because that shite hurrrtttsss like a mofo. Had issues even with yogurt this a.m. Just not gunna cry when the doc says I have another 7 weeks to go. All I'm saying is... if I knew all I had to do to lose weight was eat things I already love all the time, I would have tried this long before surgery. lol! Everyone complaining about the puree stage... what is wrong with shoveling refried beans and squishy cheese in your face? It's awesome! 😛

I'm certain that I had some in that time frame - it was just another meat protein. When my wife was going through this and commented to the doc that she was having some problem tolerating ground beef, he told her that such was not unusual, and to try good quality steak like a filet, and that many find that to be better tolerated. He was right. Some of the differences are just individual tolerance differences, and some may be program related, and how the dietary progression proceeds. Our program has us on semi-real foods (soft stuff, at least - eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, fish, and purees - from the hospital on out, so we may, on average, better able to handle steak at 4-8 weeks than those who are on liquids for the first month. There was also no liquid or fasting diet pre-op, either, so the stomach had less time to forget what it was supposed to do.

I had my post op appt yesterday, I was sleeved on 11/19 & lost 17lbs! I was genuinely surprised. I know my clothes are fitting looser, but I’m trying not to focus too much on my weight right now and focus on more of the nutrition. I can’t believe how much more energy I have and how much better I feel walking. I’m so excited to see how the next year goes. Has anyone made any yummy recipes for the soft stage? I feel like I’ve been boring and sticking to chicken, cheese sticks, yogurt & chili mostly. I need a little variety the next few weeks!

What do you eat for breakfast?
mousecat88 replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always have a greek yogurt. Easy to grab and bring to work. On the weekends, maybe cottage cheese or eggs or a shake. Nothing fancy. -
Hi, I am ten days out from RnY. I have been feeling pretty good getting almost all I need. I just feel like I am eating wrong and doing everything wrong. I walk everyday because that is the best for me in a lot of ways. The protein shakes are kinda up in the air a bit. I love the chocolate Muscle Milk. Vanilla shakes not as much. I can do any of it if it's ice cold and I don't have to sip it. It is that normal? I feel like I can drink anything too quickly. Is that normal? Sipping and I aren't the best of friends. I am used to drinking a lot and often due to diabetes and medications I have been taking. The only real thing that seems to bother me is being too close to smokers and peach yogurt. Lol! Any advice is welcome and thank you all very much. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

What do you eat for breakfast?

Eggs are good, but a pain to make on a weekday morning. I can't stomach a protein shake or yogurt that early in the day. I tried high protein oatmeal, but it is so filling that I can barely have any, and that just isn't enough protein. I have been doing a thin slice of Dave's Killer 21 grains and seeds bread (bread is ok on my plan) with a tablespoon of natural peanut butter. That goes down well, but it is only 7 grams of protein, leaving me a lot of make-up later in the day. So what do you eat for breakfast? -
So I'm 7 days out, just starting purees today. Had to pop in at a work party and of course there was NO food I could eat. I did down a yogurt before I went, but sitting there with food in my face became a THING! So I dipped celery into a smooth dip. And it was good. So I did that several times. Still good. Fast forward 45 minutes until I arrived home and guess what?? Out she goes! I didn't think about the fat content that might have been in ranch dip, I thought, oh well, similar to yogurt, probs has protein, I should be good. Pouchie says "That's a no from me Dawg!!!"

Chobani plain 0% Greek, SweetLeaf Lemon Stevia Drops, GreenFoods Ceremonial Matcha Powder (It's my lady jam) Or plain on top of a bean stew in place of sour cream I too gave up crazy artificial additives in yogurt.

It's okay! I can bring my own food!
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
But regardless, I'm nowhere near that. Even if I was allowed it... I can't stomach more than 3oz of anything at this point. I do do a yogurt and can do 4oz of cottage cheese. Nothing else though. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Oh yes I love creativity. Have you seen the Campbell's Well Yes Sipping Soups? Love them. I have sugar free jello and pudding, popsicles. Broth makes me feel good and warm tea. For some reason yogurt doesn't agree with me right now anyway. Create, create, create. This is absolutely normal. I thought for sure they didn’t do anything to my stomach because liquids and even yogurt went down with no problem. Once I started on soft foods I was like “WOW” - major restriction. Good luck!!

I was told that anything 9 grams or below of sugar is ideal. The NUT highly recommended OIKOS triple Zero, though it isn't my fave. I do prefer either the Dannon LIght and Fit CHerry greek yogurt or the Fage plain yogurt, though that is an acquired taste. I now love it! I do put some granola in it when I can find a decent one with low sugar.
-
Mix sugar-free pudding mix into plain yogurt. It gives it a cheesecake texture and you can control the amount of sweetness by adding small amounts. Smoosh up berries or other fruits and add to plain. My NUT told me foods had to have 10 grams of sugar or less, so I use Chobani Hint, they use a tiny amount of real sugar and fruit. It does have more sugar than something like Triple Zero, but I have remained in ketosis with it and it hasn't encouraged cravings. The artificially sweetened yogurt literally makes me want to vomit. I wonder if you could mix half plain and half artificially sweetened to create not-to-sweet, not-too-sour.

Surgery last week you are still healing. Its finding what your stomach can tolerate. How are you doing with the other items you can have? @BigVifferGets to the point of food as fuel. Plain yogurt....You are hard core.
