    ShoeString NSV

This morning when I tied my shoes, it was like any other day, right? WRONG...as I was getting in my truck, I noticed that the bow was on the TOP of the shoe, instead of the side of the shoe. ((PHAT GIRLS KNOW WHAT I'M TALKIN' BOUT!!)) This is my first NSV, and since my loss has been painfully slow, this is especially sweet!!:clap2:

    Yep

Slowly but surely this band is actually doing its thing!!! I am still totally amazed at how full I get in just a few bites...I have learned over the last couple days that when I start to feel uncomfortable when I eat and feel like something is trying to get stuck to take a huge deep breath and hold it as long as possible and it really does help me...I have been doing my 30 minute workouts everyday except for today when I only got 20 cuz my son had a major life threatening problem with his playstation 2 that I just had to address right then, but thats ok!! It makes me so happy to step on that scale each morning now and see a little difference...I have been adding it up and if I keep going at this rate I should have around a 10 lbs loss for this month (I can certainly deal with that)...The only bad thing is that my uniform pants from work are just about to that stage where they are going to fall off me...Everytime I stand up I am yanking on the legs or the waist to make sure they stay up...Good thing is that we put in orders for new uniforms about 3 weeks ago and are just waiting on them to get to us...So from my 4x shirt I ordered a 3x (i still like big comfy shirts) then I went from a mens 50x34 to a 46x34...Of course we didnt have anyone measure us out for our sizes so I just had to guess...I hope that I did the right thing on the sizes or I am just out of luck for a while...Maybe in several more month and several more sizes down I will even be willing to tuck in my uniform shirt...I guess that would be a great NSV for me!!!
  3. ok, so we had the towel wrap around NSV, and the shoelaces tied on TOP of the shoe instead of on the side of the shoe NSV, and now............................................... (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((DRUMROLL PLEEZ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) today, while sitting at my job(saltmines), pleasantly minding my own business in my cubicle, it occurs to me that my thighs are no longer wedged under my keyboard. i have, in the past, had my chair adjusted to the lowest setting...i might as well have been sitting on the floor...and the keyboard slide out little tray thingy set to the highest setting...which meant that when the thighs and the keyboard were aligned just right, it would often bump against the bottom of my desk top, sometimes completely ruining my document and sometimes my settings on my computer....errrhhhhgggg!! i had not even noticed that it was not happening anymore, until today!!! who would have thought that this would mean something to me??!! I never even considered it before!! anyone else have this NSV??!!

    Slouching

I slouch much more comfortably than usual cuz of the single belly roll I have now as opposed to the double I did have. That was actually one of my first NSVs that I had noticed

    Start dieting before surgery?

You didn't say how close you are to your surgery date? But 2 things I would start doing right now, to make things easier. 1) Up your Protein to carbs ratio - shoot for 75% of your calories from lean protein sources - chicken, pork loin, turkey, 93% lean hamburger. And add more vegetables to your diet - broccoli, califlower, brussel sprouts.... you get the idea. :-) 2) Start a walking program. If you are like me, I had lots of pain in my feet and knees. I had to start gradually (as in, I started parking at the far end of the parking lot each time I went to the store or work) I started out walking 4 laps around the interior of my office each morning and worked my way up. Hope these tips help, Keep taking small important steps, they will all add up to bigger success. http://www.bariatricpal.com/blogs/entry/31216-nsv-2-you-best-step-off-b-hatch/
  8. I just realized that this will be THE FIRST YEAR IN OVER 20 YEARS that my New Year's Resolution WILL NOT be to lose weight!!!!!!! I can focus on so many more things now and am not paralyzed by the thought process of what diet to start, what shake to drink, what foods to avoid. OMG, this is just the best. I have 19 more lbs to goal and I can actually see the finish line....A M A Z I N G!!!!!

    Heading to Silver Dollar City!

Wow!! What a difference losing 113 pounds can make!! This theme park experience was so different from before!! Last time I was publicly humiliated when I couldn't fit in the roller coaster. I was just crushed. This time, I rode every ride possible!! I fit comfortably in every ride we went on and had the time of my life!! I had energy all day long to walk the park. I still want to lose quite a bit more, but I finally feel like I can be free and just live again!! I am overjoyed!!! Oh, and another NSV, I went to a Cardinals baseball store and was actually able to purchase a women's cardinals tank top! I usually have to buy the men's size shirt because the women's just do not fit in that type of official sports shirt. I was very happy to be able to buy a girly Cardinals shirt instead of a baggy men's style!

    would you recommend?

Yes, I recommend it. Yes, I would do it all over again. My comorbidities are lessened or completely gone, my self-esteem is very good, I feel great, I have had more NSVs then I can shake a stick at, I am adding years to my life, etc., etc. My only regret was not having a VSG sooner. Make the best educated decision on the procedure that is correct for you. Research as much as you can, attend a WLS seminar, WLS support groups and have your PCP, surgeon and any specialists you may be seeing all on board. Congratulations.

Question for veterans - hardest part for you?

I'm 14 months out but I remember stressing about changing everything about how I ate. In the end, this new way of eating feels comfortable now and i can't imagine going back to my old habits. My biggest struggle is going to the gym because it's not my favorite thing to do but I committed to exercising at least 3 days a week for 1 hour and I've been sticking to it. I'll slip in a little NSV here and say that after losing over 100 pounds I'm coping so much better with the 110+ weather we're having. I used to really suffer and now I bop around and think "this isn't so bad!" Yippee.

    NSV!

That is not a small NSV but a huge victory. SMILE You must have been so smug. I am just off my second leg of a business trip off a commuter airplane and no longer spill into the other seat. I love my sleeve.
  16. hey gang, Just thought I'd post that I've actually bought a few pieces of clothing in the regular section for the first time in years! They're a tad snug, but wearable in public, so I'm in em! I actually bought a bathing suit last night for my new gym membership. They didn't have any 18's so I thought what the heck - give it a try. Lo and behold, it fit! It's TIGHT, but it fits and it's kinda nice to have that belly sucked in a bit. I celebrated by a nice long spa soak after my workout last night. I don't think I'll be done shopping at Lame Giant just yet, but it won't be long!! It will feel like a real victory when I hit a size 14 (will be the first time in about 11 years). Meanwhile, I'm down from a 24 to a 16/18 on the bottom and a 14/16 on top. :whoo:
  17. Whoohoo!! Twelve months ago, when I started my new job at a new mine, I had the horrible experience of having to go up yet another size in men's work pants and had to tell the guys in the store what size to order - which they didn't even have in stock! There was a whole embarrassing kerfuffle that went on for months as they had to order my size (127cm). When the pants finally arrived months later, they just fit and in the weeks before my surgery, they were really uncomfortably tight. Three months ago, they were falling off me and I went back to the 122cm pants I was wearing at my previous job. These have been getting looser and looser and this morning when I got up off the bus seat, I almost left them behind, so I thought "Right! Time to change!" It was a wonderful feeling to walk into the stores and announce in a loud voice "I NEED SMALLER PANTS PLEASE!!" What was even better was, after I tried them on, I didn't just go down one size to the 117cms, I fit into the 112cms and THEY'RE NOT EVEN TIGHT!!:wink_smile: WOOOHOOOOO!!! PS: I would have put this in the NSV thread but I couldn't find that. I went back 4 pages on the index too - where did it go????
  18. I had my surgery on March 8th. I am down a little over 70 pounds which is actually not really hitting me yet. Here is what I have jumped for joy over. My scale will never hit the dreaded 300 mark again. It will also not hit 250. I have not been under 250 since my early 20's Bigger victories? I am no longer on ANY medication. supplements are the only thing I NEED. No more arthritis pain. NONE...EVER No more CPAP machine....and my kids are not afraid I am going to die in my sleep! No more antacids. No more blood pressure meds NONE!!! All erased from my life. YAY! Silly things to many that make me smile I ran 2 miles...and lived to tell about it...I did not even FEEL like I was going to die. My dog LOVES her 3 walks a day! (she has dropped a few pounds herself I am saving a TON of money...just the amount I was spending on soda and Snacks for my home was ridiculous! My kids are eating a better diet...hopefully they will not get my "fat" gene! and the #1 Victory Today my 1st pretty bra and pantie set was delivered and I can wear it proudly COMFORTABLY I have not had a pretty bra since I was 13 YEARS OLD !!!!! I feel FANTASTIC!
  19. I thought I'd put up this post to see what co-morbidities people have been relieved of since their surgery. As for me, I had compartmental syndrome (issue where my fascia on my calves would squish my muscle if I ran (b/c muscle would want to expand, but there wasn't enough room) such that my nerves would get pinched and my circulation would get cut off. Now that I'm 50+ pounds down, I don't have any problem with this at all. In fact, tonight, I ran 3 miles on the treadmill without stopping or slowing to a walk, and all was just fine! What a major NSV!! I had been worried that if someone was ever chasing me that I wouldn't be able to run to safety! But now, that problem has completely disappeared! Thank you, Band!! Catherine
  20. Tried on some jeans today and I'm in a size 12!!!!!! I really can't remember the last time I was a size 12! I know I graduated highschool at a 10 and I was married 4 years later at a 14 so sometime in between there and that was over 11 years ago!! Whats really crazy is I have been this weight within the last 6 years. One time while doing WW I got down to 173 (174 right now) and I was a size 14 then but a 12 now!! WOOHOO!! So I went from my highest size of 24 in Nov. 2010 to a 12 in May 2011

    Never thought this would happen...

I looove to hear NSV's like this! Fitting in smaller sizes was way more exciting to me than any number on the scale (except for Onederland... of course). Thanks for sharing!! Keep up the excellent work - and have fun with the zumba!
  22. coops

    It's a twofer!

Amanda, half way there is such a good feeling, isn't it!! Congrats on both NSVs... it is a sign of good things to come!!
  23. Yup this little girl was the deciding reason why I chose to do this to myself....So I could be there when she grew up hopefully and hold her this close to me and experience the true a true lasting close hug from her...It is one of the most enjoyable NSV for me so far...What was yours?
  24. This was one of my happiest NSVs two months post banding. Congratulations!
