I got my surgery 5 months ago and since then Ive had 4 fills. I'm currently at 6.5 cc's. I feel no restriction and no different as to before surgery. I've lost 30lbs but I feel its only because I've really been pushing myself and began running 4 miles up steep hills 5 days a week and I limit myself on portions but find myself feeling hungry often. I got the band as a big aid in helping me lose weight but its saddening to feel like its been useless for me. I cut off so much food out of my life and changed my eating habits on my own. I feel like I can lose track at any moment and gain weight again. My bands max is 10 cc's and I was told average weight loss is 10lbs a month but that hasn't been my case and I'm starting to feel anxious and helpless. Anyone else out there experience my same issue?

Gallbladder removed at time a WLS?
Djmohr replied to mbuczkowski's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgeon its an automatic. If you have a gallbladder they will remove it. Unfortunately I lost mine 10 years before in an open gallbladder removal. Left me a nice 5 inch scar right across my belly and 4 days in the hospital. Now having an abdominalplasty and that lovely scar puts me at further risk for healing. Still having the abdominalplasty........cannot live with this huge apron of skin and residual fat. -
Surgery Date Taking Too Darned Long
Keshajo1 replied to CocoPebbles1030's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm there with you. Got insurance approval on 10/08/14. Going through True Results in Houston. When I went for consultation appt on 9/17/2014. They set surgery goal for end of October, but despite less than a week to get approval from insurance company, still waiting for the medical director at True Results to release my records to the Surgeon so that I can have Preop visit and schedule procedure. I need preop appt for 10/21/14 to have any hope on getting procedure done during my surgical goal date window. I've done everything ahead of time based on there pre surgical map plan, but still major stall. Praying to hear from someone today. (Fingers, toes and eyes crossed). Good luck! We are probably just super anxious. Like kids waiting on Christmas Day. Lol -
$300 for your first visit regardless if you get a fill or not--the fee is supposedly to get you into their database for future visits after that it is $155 a fill I believe but they don't use fluro. I had a bad experience there and will never use them again... ~Liz~ 03/10/06 241/161/160 5'7''

Surgery November First-- Here It Goes!
Mayra130 replied to GodsTyro's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there! I'm having mine surgery on nov 1st too. At true results too! Struggling with these 10 lbs. but I'm trying. How is your pre op diet going? -
I had surgery on Dec. 19 and I finally was able to sleep in my bed this past week (and only on my back). I have SUFFERED from intense muscle pain throughout this whole thing. Even shifting from one side to the other in bed caused incredible pain and tears. I know what you mean when you say your sleep has suffered. I can't remember the last time I slept six hours in a row. My only relief has come from a recliner. If you don't have one buy one. You will be thankful for it.

I had RNY in November 2019. Overall I have lost 40lbs since the surgery, but I have not lost anything in the last month. I had a routine doctor appt with my GP a month ago, and I was 276, and I still am. it has fluctuated a little, ranging between 278 and 273. I'm taking my vitamins, getting my protein, eating about 1000 calories a day and logging my food. I am exercising. I know I could do more exercise, but my schedule is a little crazy right now (I do taxes for a living so real busy time of year plus a couple kids). I just really wish I could figure out what is going on. Does this happen to other people? I have read about stalls but usually what people describe is a week or two, not a whole month. My sex drive is non existent as well, and I don't know if that is a symptom of why I am not losing, or a result of being depressed over not losing. I have a follow up with my surgeon in 2 weeks, and unfortunately I can't really move that up at all, because of my schedule and he is an hour away. I've been slow to lose the whole time since surgery, but the nurtritionist and the surgeon weren't worried last time I saw them. I know that even just the 40lbs is great, better than I could do before the surgery, but it is just really hard to be doing everything and not seeing results now. This is what I always encountered before and why I ended up with surgery, so if this doesn't work, I have no more options.

My insurance finally approved me on 10/23 but my doctor can't see me for 6 more weeks (11/17) which he requires before scheduling the surgery. My daughter wants to be there and stay with me for the surgery and the first week but just started a new job. There is only one week 12/11-12/15 that she is able to come so I am hoping so bad to be able to get done that week. I understand there is a process and I am typically really good about these things but it is just so important to me that my daughter be there. She lives almost 3 hours away so it won't be easy for her to come back and forth. I tried to get them to schedule my surgery and then I would still have my appointment on 11/17 but they won't do that. As of yesterday that time frame was available but they said it may be possible with all of the upcoming appointments that it may book up. Deep breath. It will happen as it's meant to happen. Have to relax and hope for the best.

Yay! I got my surgery date today! I have to go in for my pre-op appointment next Monday and my surgery is scheduled for Thursday, July 19. I am so happy that they were able to schedule a date so soon. I want to be off of my modified liquids diet before I go back to school (work). I will be 4 weeks post-op by then, and 12 weeks post-op by my brother-in-law's wedding. I can't wait for my body on the outside to match my personality on the inside. I am so excited! I am motivated to get as much weight as I can off before the wedding. Wahoo!

(laughing) I do wish that when people post they put how long they've been banded. Fair or not, I would struggle taking advice from anyone with minimal life experience w/ the band. I always warn people to focus on WHO is giving the advice just as much as the advice being given. I'm laughing at this too. Only 10 months here and consider myself a newbie even after reaching goal and a revision under my belt. At a couple months out I thought I knew everything and was giving out advice right and left. I can only hope the people receiving it didn't take it as gospel. Live and learn!

I had my sleeve on 4/28. 10 days after surgery I hit a stall. Its been 3 weeks now and I have lost 1 pound in that time. I lost 27 pounds in the first 10 days. I know that is a lot for 1 month however when you can't eat much of anything and you exercise and its still not coming off it becomes very stressful. I know that lots of people go thru the same thing but it seems that for most of you it doesn't last this long. I'm having a very hard time staying positive. Any help would be appreciated.

OK guys I need your opinion…. Here’s the deal, I went for a fill in June to come away with nothing, they could not find the port. OK I can deal with that. I went again Sept 1st, still unable to find / get into, what they thought was the port. They send me to fluoro to check to make sure my port was not flipped, it’s not. I was told even though I’ve lost 65 lbs I was still to fat to get to the port because they didn’t have long enough needles. (They only have 2 inch needles) I can deal with this too. Well… Where you come in is, I found another Dr. who does his under fluoro if needed. His fills are $130.00 his fluoro a extra $350.00 (not by his choice). I saw him on Sept 17th. After 1 hour of repeated poking he managed to put in 2 cc’s but when I stood up the needle came out. So he quit. He tells me when that if I would have had him do a sleeve I wouldn’t be having this problem. He also tells me, I need to have the excess fat carved off if I want to have easier future fills. A sort of tummy tuck and when I get to goal have another one. He also said my line is in front of my port and my port is to low…..He wants to reposition my port, while on the table. My question for you all is …. Does it sound like he just wants my money…. Have any one of you had this problem…. If my line is in front of my port don’t you think the other fluoro tech would have told me this??? This procedure all together cost me $570.00.… Fill, Fluoro, Fuel, and not to mention the 10 hours of drive time. I’m now wondering if I should just go back to Mexico and see my surgeon…. What do you all think????? I need your opinions….. And to add to this I really like the Dr.

Continuing swallowing hard? What is it?
shutuplena replied to cal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Cal, I was banded on 11/14 too. I have a 10-12cc band and my first fill was 3cc. Sounds to me like your eating too fast. I agree with Chubster - try eating slower and chew better. -

Hi FXA, I'm new to this site too. Congrats on your decision:thumbup:!! I started last Aug 09. I think you really need the time to get your head in the right place. My surgery date is 07/07/10:ohmy:!! I'm excited and can't wait. When is your date? I've already been encouraged by so many nice people:smile2:. Best of luck and much success!! Carol D' (just outside of Boston, MA) Where in US are you from? -
Today I have managed to get in 40 grams of protein from my morning shake and the rest from food!!!!!!! I am thrilled and hopeful that I can keep it up so I don't have to suffer through 2 or 3 shakes a day. It was also easier to drink today. Hallelujah , there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Keep the faith!

I'm not quite at goal but had my surgery last summer as well. As my weight loss has slowed and I'm not constantly dropping pounds, I'm finding myself sliding back into my old dislike of my body, being very critical of every flaw and in general not being very positive about myself. I'm fighting that negative self-talk pretty hard, and I've asked my husband to help me, too. I have a very hard time accepting compliments, but now the 'rule' is that if he says 'hi gorgeous!' or 'you look great' or whatever, I'm not allowed to deny it or say anything negative in return. I say 'thank you' and 'I'm glad you like this dress' and don't let the negative stuff invade my head. It's amazing how much better I feel about myself when I'm not berating myself all the time. I was in a size 18 when I had surgery in June, I'm now in a 10 and will shortly wear an 8... it's absolutely ridiculous for me to be so critical of myself. I look good, and it's okay for me to think it AND say it. You too, right? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Not loosing any weight
matchamaiden replied to soo_much's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi There! Yep, I had my surgery September 16th and I've only lost 3 pounds since surgery, but lost 10 pounds during the two week pre-op phase. Amazing, huh? I thought there was something wrong with me until I read all these posts and found it is pretty normal. I'm so amazed that for the first two weeks after surgery, I couldn't eat much AT ALL and only lost a few pounds. Now, I feel like I don't even have the band since all the swelling is gone and I can eat like I did before surgery. However, now is the time I'm relying on behavior mod and exercise and trying to accept that I won't feel the restriction until after my first or second fill. So....I think we are normal in that regard:cool: I can't speak to the healing issues, but others on here seem to have some solid recommendations! Good luck and keep us posted! Matchamaiden -
I was 207 the day of my surgery Nov. 19th its almost been 3 months now..I have only lost 27 lbs since my surgery (10 before surgery)...but I have gone from a size 18 to a size 12 pants..& a 2X top to a L..I lost more inches than weight. I am a Fitness Pal freak..I measure everything & do everything right..I am just a slow loser..I went to my NUT & surgeon last week...they recommended me going from 900 calories to 1200 calories a day..I had a Metabolic Test done (which is just breathing into a machine) to rate what I should be doing, well that said I should be eating more calories & that my body was in a starvation mode (hmm). I am trying this new calorie change for a month to see if I can lose more weight..they did suggest that the more calories should come from protein only..
